Kona ice trucks have always been great at my kids schools. I was very disappointed yesterday when I gave my child money to go get some after school. She returned to say that the guy running the truck was very rude to her. The truck is higher then the kids so she passed her money folded to keep it together and he passed it back and told her to open it up and unfold the money. So she did. Then when she was passing it up, the wind blew it in half and he told her to unfold it again

We contacted Paul at Kona Ice for a fundraiser for the first on-campus family event at my son's school since the pandemic. He made things INCREDIBLY easy for us, and I would definitely work with him again. We had the event set up in two emails. For a fundraiser event, he gave us back 25% of the evening's sales. He showed up right as expected, and needed nothing from me during the event. He followed up with me the next day to let me know our portion and asked where to send the check. The self-serve syrups are fun for keiki. So so easy, and it helps the school and a local business/franchise owner. Win-win.

We have contracted Kona ice twice in the last 6 months to show our staff appreciation and Kona ice has delivered. They always go above and beyond! Highly recommend them for any event!

Wallace was amazing!! Prompt, courteous and delicious service!! Our pre-wedding party guests were thrilled with the traditional Hawaiian after dinner treat with plenty of flavors to customize their generous size (kiddie size) shave ice. Thanks again Wallace! We'll see you again soon.

Paul at Kona Ice is very nice, accommodating, a pleasure to work with. Our church has hired him on numerous occasions for various events, and each time the kids, families, EVERYONE loves it. I love that the truck is so colorful and fun. It really adds to the spirit of the event. The self-serve syrup makes the service move quickly so that the line doesn't get too backed up. And the best is that if you ask for ice cream at the bottom, you get it! I highly recommend Kona Ice truck.

MOBILE SHAVE ICE TRUCK with FLAVORS ON TAP I didn't realize this was a franchise which actually started in Kentucky 5 years ago. Now they've expanded into 41 states with 220+ trucks that are reminiscent of the ICE CREAM TRUCKS that used to roam the streets back in the day. Only difference is this one has gone through the PIMP MY RIDE treatment and plays jammin music and serves shave ice. All the kids at the park yesterday stopped and ran to this truck when we HEARD it (yes, we heard it long before we saw it): http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/9Gw80YGwVQZwOcAkA7NOaA?select=n7Kg7sCERHyuQ-87qHL7BQ#QRCLYst1bk6xpEzR2qIcRA This mobile truck roams all over the place, but you can book it for your next outdoor party, sporting event, or festival, especially on a hot day. PRICING for parties: $50 for 20 keiki (or 15 regular or 12 king kona) $100 for 40 keiki (or 30 regular or 24 king kona) FUNDRAISING: They do a % of sales back to your sports team when you hire them to stay during your games etc. Or you can sell prepaid cards. Call them for details. TEN FLAVORS ON TAP The kids get to "decorate" their own cup of ice with the 10 various flavors on tap on the side of the truck or many more flavors inside the truck, including li hing! http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/9Gw80YGwVQZwOcAkA7NOaA?select=n7Kg7sCERHyuQ-87qHL7BQ#grvCP7dHYN9B0fNwQg8myg http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/9Gw80YGwVQZwOcAkA7NOaA?select=n7Kg7sCERHyuQ-87qHL7BQ#GQpAIr0Vfh5TBMCsipPgrg For the shave ice yetis out there like me, this ice is not as fine as Waiola, Shimazu, Ailana or Your Kitchen and the flavors aren't homemade, so if you are looking for that, do not look here. If you need a COOL idea for your next event, this is definitely a conversation piece -- my kids had a blast while they were making their shave ice masterpiece. We found enough quarters to buy the $3 keiki cup (with ICE CREAM on the bottom!): http://www.yelp.com/biz_photos/9Gw80YGwVQZwOcAkA7NOaA?select=n7Kg7sCERHyuQ-87qHL7BQ#n7Kg7sCERHyuQ-87qHL7BQ

Kona Ice has been serving their tropical shaved ice at several eat the street events. Although basic and a little pricier than other shaved ice stores, ($3 for a small Keiki size of basic shaved ice, and $5 for the large, but $1 off if you have the Malama Card), it's the only truck that sells shaved ice at eat the street, so it's a delight for my kids, especially on a hot sunny day. What's neat is that you can help yourself to the different flavors on tap, but there's not much flavors or other toppings to add with a small serving for a high price.

Paul was amazing and the KONA ICE TRUCK was a total hit. We had a 12th birthday for our nephew and I emailed the Kona Ice crew to set up a rental. My email was responded quickly and we got things wrapped up in no time. Prices were straight forward and we were given options. This is a fantastic addition to any party. The adults were as excited as the kids. Thank you Paul!!!

Garlic chicken!…read more December 31, 2015 There were only a few items on the menu, eight to be exact, and I was happy with my order! I selected the Garlic Chicken (#7) and the chicken was crispy, tasty, and juicy in the inside. The meal came with two scoops of rice and green salad. It was a good size portion. Well, for $12 I expected it to be, at least! Other items offered at this food truck was Local Fish (#6), Salt and Pepper Shrimp (#5), Kahuku Garlic Shrimp, Pineapple Shrimp (#2), Spicy Garlic Shrimp (#3), and Coconut Shrimp (#4)... He was the only food truck at this location at the time so he made bank. $7.00 for a mini and $11.99 for a regular plate. Fries is $2.50/ea. A can of soda is $1 each. The owner was nice and friendly. Cash only basis as with most food trucks. Was able to try this food truck while he was on location at Sandy Beach Park. Review #0408

Nothing less than great!…read more We spent a few hours on Sandy Beach. Feeling a bit hungry we spotted this Food Truck on the parking lot of Sandy Beach. With the blue paintjob it's impossible to miss. We ordered some Ice-Tea, Wings, Garlic Shrimp and Fish'n'Chips. And I can say that the food was nothing less than fantastic! The shrimps had a good size and were cooked to perfection. Nice garlic flavour, nicely balanced. The Wings were hot and crispy. The Fish was very fresh and tender. We didn't expect much, but ended up with one of the best Food Truck meals we've had on Hawaii. Prices are about 12$ a meal....about average compared to other trucks....but more than fair considering the quality. Sandy Beach is the perfect spot to hang out a bit and grab some good food at this Truck. Highly recommended!

Okay-- BEST POKE ON THE TRIP AWARD goes to... this spot…read more We've had Ono before, on a prev. trip. Great. But then we fell hard for Off-the-Hook. This trip... Ono Seafood won the battle. This poke was SO FRESH, I could taste the knife, the boat, the water, the morning sun... all in good ways. It was divine. The catch? Maybe their DRY RUB... I have spicy habits, and tend to get poke lathered in spicy sauce. This poke had no sauce, just a dry salt / pepper rub - and the dryness of the fish, helped me TRULY taste the TEXTURE, freshness, and the QUALITY of the fish. Blown away. The owner (or manager) came out to check on us, and thank us for coming out. Told us the fish had been REALLY good lately, out there on the water. We could taste it. Love the tempura flakes they add on top. Can't wait to go back!

They have fresh ahi and tako poke which you can get by the pound or as bowls. The regular is $16 and the large is $18 and you can have a choice of two kinds of poke. I got the Hawaiian style tako poke with limu and chili pepper and it's yum! Might say tho, it's a little heavy on the Hawaiian salt. It also has a bit of a kick from the chili pepper. It's served plain but you can add on things like furikake, ginger for 75 cents or avocado slices for $1.50. Also you can get it with white or brown rice. Not all places has tako poke as part of the regular menu so if you like tako and you're in Hawaii Kai or coming in from Sandy's or Waimanalo side, stop here for your fix.

That's what I do love about this discovery at Makana Mkt at Ka Makana Ali'i where they have it twice a week and this Sunday from 11a-3p I found this cute little card and it was Aloha Poke Bar which is obvious is a mobile cart which is absolutely cute and does exactly that where the menu describes the offerings for the day which was Classic, Tornado and what I got is Volcano their version of the spicy ahi. Bowls come in two sizes and though my thoughts was large though I got the small which is just $13 and all bowls comes with white rice topped with the poke of your choice and it doesn't end there you get unlimited toppings and I believe there was six types to which I got the pickled red onions and crispy onions (I later realized they were both onions lol!) there was also ocean salad, pickled cucumbers, furikake. The gentleman asked if I wanted inamona and spicy sauce...uuuhh yes! Poke is obviously premade and the list of the ingredients are all in as well as my Volcano which I though for me personally wasn't spicy enough was made with mayo, sriracha chili sauce, sesame oil, and green onions and thankfully it didn't have much green onions which I don't like but hey it adds the flavor. Rice cooked just right and the toppings complimented it all to my happy belly and was a pleasant find on this gloomy rainy day as the service was nice and friendly which brought the vibe to another level at this cute little cart.
