Really nice older guy. Doesn't speak a lot of English, but the shaved ice was good! He hooked it up with a lot of condensed milk on top.

I've seen this place packed before with all tables filled and a line. Weekdays in the afternoon might be good timing! The vibe was your average "ice cream" ambiance. I loved the photos so you can see your options. IMO, the menu board lighting was a little weird, I thought when I was taking a photo it was my eyes, then thought it was the lighting from outside, but I think it's lit by bulbs? Idk. LOL. You can still read the menu but at first glance, you will question if it's your vision. LOL. My "mini" Mahalo-halo was perfect! It didn't make me feel that guilty at all. I mean, I'm all about dessert before a meal. In my experience, it is always a challenge to eat Halo halo because it's filled to the top. My strategy: take off the cover (if it's not overspilling: if it is, skip this step), eat some of the ice cream, and take a few sips! That should leave you enough room to mix everything, each scoop you should get a different bite. A long spoon would be best for the larger sizes! Magnolia did not disappoint. I'll be back!!

You can customize your ice cream with toppings and sauces. There isn't much of a wait but it's usually two elder ladies working when I go but they are very quick with it! But it does get busy during lunch time and after school hours. There is ample seating indoor and outdoor and it does get pretty cold inside lol. Also, a whole lot of FREE parking. Dillingham is currently under construction but you are now able to make a left turn into the lot.

It's been a great while since I've been to the food court and decided to see what's up there instead of driving around to figure what I was craving and was happy to see Bee's Boba Express in the corner. Super cute kiosk filled with various drink offering including floats, smoothies and even shave ice cups. I really didn't want something too sweet just a refreshing drink on this hot and humid day as just entering the air conditioned building alone felt like my skin was healing, so I decided on a Apple Green Tea which sounded nice and though looking at the menu and pics I seriously didn't think it would really be that vibrant green but in fact it was actually much more greener like I'm having straight syrup which is what it tasted like....super super sweeeeet. OMG for mer personally nothing could have saved it not adding water or tea which I can believe it contained tea all I could taste was sweet...sigh! The staff was nice and friendly very efficient in making my drink but after just a few sips it had to go. I'm just a tea person and this wasn't it for me but lovely place and maybe a simple shave ice next time. Thank you!

The hard-working staff was providing huge portions, about the size of a baby's head covered with our choice of dozens of delicious syrups. After seeing these large portions go past me, I asked for baby size or even half baby size and was served about something the size of my fist. Certainly a nice serving on a hot day. I also opted for the heavy cream poured on top, deliciousness! Strongly recommended for any party where you can park a truck. Really fantastic!

Combined these flavors showcase the colors of the rainbow, hence the name. And you absolutely must get your shave ice with condensed milk. If your shave ice doesn't look like a fresh blanket of snow on top a colorful mountain, you are doing it wrong. The ice is soft. They offer a ton of flavors and toppings. Most importantly, the ratio between shave ice and syrup has to be proportionate. Otherwise, you'll end up with mostly melted shave ice or a pile of ice at the end. Shaka Shave Ice has the perfect ratio. You can find a list of the flavors on their Instagram. The flavors aren't too sweet, so you can enjoy more. Keeping this one in my back pocket for my next event. Thanks for reading my reviews! Let me know what to try next!

For those not familiar, don't expect fresh fruit flavors. The strawberry tasted like strawberry soda mixed with vanilla ice cream. The honeydew tasted like a Melona bar. The large included a rolled cookie which was a nice surprise. The buttered popcorn was a bit chewy, not light, fluffy & crunchy. (-0.5*} The service was friendly & helpful. No 3% credit card fee. Another colleague and I jumped at the opportunity to tag along on a Friday early afternoon. Located down Umi Street not too far from neighboring New City Nissan on N King Street, Samurai moved to their current location in 1995 serving Maui style sherbet, popcorn and other local snacks. They also expanded to Samurai Snacks Aiea for an impressive 20+ years before closing its doors in May 2023. We arrived shortly after lunch time where we pondered at the menu wondering what to get. It's not fancy here at Samurai - - the storefront is basic and nothing fancy with a few seats patrons can sit on if they decide to eat their treats on premise. Morale has been low at the office so I decided to get some convenient prepackaged 4oz assorted Samurai cups to cheer up the staff. My colleagues also picked up some bags of buttered popcorn with mochi crunch and furikake for an informal office party to welcome the much needed weekend. Because we were already there, we also got some soft serve cups to cool down before heading back to the office. My colleagues had the classic strawberry and blue vanilla swirl and I selected the mango. My colleagues enjoyed their selection but the mango didn't live up to my expectations. The color was vibrant and enticing but sadly the mango flavor did not come through. Each cup came with a sugar roll cookie that was delicious. After our cold treat we headed back to the office with our surprise for our colleagues where it was a big hit. There were many happy faces standing in line grabbing some popcorn and a 4-oz cup of Samurai. Overall, a much better experience with Samurai that's deserving of an update with higher marks. It has been noted in my books to stick to flavors I'm already aware of and avoid trying new ones for that possible disappointment that often happens to me.

The place is clean, there are a couple of tables to sit at if you want to eat there and the staff is quick and friendly. I ordered the Matsumoto Bento, which was delicious and WHAT A DEAL! For $15.52 (CC Price) you get six proteins (fried chicken - one of their specialties, shrimp, tempura, hotdog, spam, egg, omelette, teriyaki beef), ume musubi, and chow fun. I read somewhere that the fried chicken and chow fun are both of the items that they're most known for, but honestly, all of it was delicious! I don't usually like teriyaki beef from restaurants or takeout places because it's either too salty or the meat is tough. This teriyaki beef is seasoned with just the right amount of sweet and salty and the meat is very tender. I recommend choosing one of their bentos if you haven't been here before. You'll get to try a lot of items and it's a better deal than buying each item individually, especially if you're not sure what you want to try. Also, all of the prices that are listed on their menu are the prices if you pay with a credit card. If you pay with CASH it is 3.7% cheaper - so even more of a deal if you take that route. I also ordered bentos for a memorial service/celebration of life. It wasn't a huge order (18 bentos), but they were very accommodating because they were willing to make it for us on a Sunday (they are usually closed) for us to pick up at 6:30 in the morning. It was difficult to find a place that was willing to do that for us. Most other places required a minimum of 50 bentos and the earliest pick up time was 10 AM. We are having a beach service at sunrise on the other side of the island so without the kindness and willingness of Vanessa (one of the owners) to do this for us, I have no idea how I was going to pull this off. Vanessa, Jay (the other owner) and their staff all truly embody the Aloha Spirit!
