Great spot at the very end of the WW crest boardwalk with one of the most unique pizza experiences you can have. The cones are imported from Italy and come out of the oven hot and crispy. We all had pepperoni for our first taste and they were absolutely delicious!! The cheese is not greasy at all; thankfully because it could have turned this culinary delight into a travesty. It was also really stretchy, which added to some comedy as we were chowing down. The sauce had a nice zip to it, not the typical over sweet stuff you get at most places nowadays. There is some seating inside the restaurant as well as just outside on the boardwalk. Service was friendly and welcoming and the owner even gave us the lowdown on how the oven works while we waited the 4 mins it takes to cook. It's around $10 a cone and would probably take 2 cones to really fill up the average adult. They seem to use high quality ingredients so the price is justifiable IMO. If you're picky about pizza, there is a good chance you will love the Kono Pizza experience - if only because the product they put out is consistent and calibrated by what is essentially a pizza cone baking robot oven. The conical crust comes out flaky and crispy - more like a turnover pastry (a good thing in this context) - and the sauce and cheese maintain a beautifully consistent heat all the way to the last bottom bite. If anything, the sauce stays a little too hot for immediate and speedy consumption, but I'm not complaining since I tend to prefer hot food over food that's supposed to be hot but is not. The claim that one Kono is the "equivalent of two slices" could be true, but the pricing (5.99 for cheese, 6.99++ with toppings/fillings) is also on par with two slices, so I'm not sure if that is the best marketing for this pizza jewel. What seems to be missing here is the traditional allure of a pizza shop - the array and display of par-baked pizzas - so something like a video wall showing closeups of the finished product and real people reacting wildly to the texture and experience for the first time could be effective in bringing in first-timers? A multi-kono deal could be a great way to simultaneously get more konos in first-timers' hands as well as reward the critical mass of kono connoisseurs. Say, a 6-for-4 deal if all 6 are the same kind of kono? Clearly the kind of place that will have superfans. And if you care about food, definitely worth the hike down to the 5300 block of the boardwalk just to try it. And walking is good for you after you eat pizza, even if it's in cone form. Sounded fun so we decided to stop in! Store was very sparse..seemed like they were moving in or moving out. A few oddly placed pieces of plastic furniture in the otherwise empty store helped us sit while we waited for the kones to be prepared. Took a bit longer than I expected, but wasn't terrible. I could see this as an issue if there was a line or a rush, but we were the only ones in the store. They came out piping hot and we needed to wait to try and hold or eat them. The kones themselves were just ok. Not good, not bad, just ok. The sauce tasted like it came from a jar and the cheese didn't taste like anything. I have to say that this place is pretty unique! They say its 2 slices in a cone. I find that a little hard to believe, but we shall see! This is literally the southern most store on the boardwalk, and they advertise as such! We came during covid. It seems that half their restaurant was seating, so since that was gone, it seemed super empty. I could not find a menu to easily... But they have a few options scribbled on their glass counter and I went with the Meat Lovers. The entire store is very clean! Every kone is handmade, so it takes about 5-8 minutes to get it. We were waiting for our (watch the) tram car (please) ha! So we didn't mind. The 2 guys behind were working hard, but still had the ability to joke between each other which made the wait pleasant! Everything is already laid out just like a pizzeria and kept cold. They just assemble it personally. After getting the kone, our tram was about to leave so we paid and jumped on. It was a little pricey!!!! I think that it was $8.50 for it. Since the tram car is such a smooth ride, I knew eating it like that would be hard, so I had to use a fork... It was delicious!!!! The pepperoni had a ton of oil in it so I would not get pepperoni again. The oil couldn't drip off harmlessly... The rest of the meat was amazing! They layered cheese meat cheese meat all the way to the top. It was very unique! Is it really 2 slices? meat wise probably! Cheese and bread wise, maybe not.. I ordered a Margherita cone and my daughter ordered a white broccoli cone. The cones were made fresh to order, and were delivered hot! Each cone was layered with cheese, sauce, and toppings! Both the owner and manager made sure we were completely satisfied and even brought us complementary chicken fries with cheese and bacon. They were delicious! The pizza cones were awesome too! Walked by this place and saw they were advertising vegan cheese so we had to stop in! The workers were very friendly and we're asking us about vegan recommendations to add to the menu in the future. I also appreciated the staff pointing out that they store their vegan and dairy options separately!! I was impressed with how good the cones were and the cheese ended up melting really well (the owner told the worker to keep them in the oven a little longer). Such a great place! My husband and I originally came in just because of how unique the concept sounded. So we thought why not try it. Like most people we are pizza lovers, and it was way better then I even expected. The pizza itself was amazing tasting. And the two gentlemen that work in there (which I'm guessing we're the owners) but they we're also sweet and amazing with our girls. My two year old loved it and he even gave her free ice cream. Couldn't take any pictures because I was too excited to try this new coned pizza. They explained perfectly and nicely what the pizza consisted of and how it was to be made and made sure my order was correct. Prices aren't too expensive, but it does add up when buying multiples with drinks so beware of that; but for the taste and quality it's worth it. Customer Service is really good here, the people care about their business as you can tell. They're new and you'll see it the moment you walk in but I can see a future in this place. What an interesting concept. It was fun to eat and tasted great. We had the regular margarita flavor, crab, bacon, and pepperoni. The parmesan french fries and gelato were fantastic as well. The staff was super friendly and welcoming. They advertise that one cone is equal to two slices, but after eating a cone I did not feel like I ate two slices of pizza. I would say they are closer to a 1:1 ratio. The only reason I did not give this restaurant five stars was the price. Even for boardwalk prices, the cost for a cone is too high.
