I eat at Koo's often because it is right down the street from my house. The grilled salmon combo with an additional piece of salmon is my favorite meal. The service is okay. Sometimes the workers and move a little slow. (IMO) It depends on who is working. Everything is cooked to order so there is always quite a bit of a wait. My first time coming here a couple of months ago was absolutely amazing from the customer service, taste and temperature of the food. They have recently changed owners the lady name Koo is no longer here and it's HORRIBLE! The fish didn't taste fresh, my shrimp was overcooked, the Cole slow was absolutely disgusting and the hot sauce that is normally Housemade is overly salty and disgusting. Customer service was horrible and they charge for sauces. I hate I came back here and wish I would've just not came here and just had the last experience 2 months ago which was awesome. This place has horrible service. Will not be back. I don't understand how the owner can want to open a business and be so rude. This is a new place in the area and I couldn't wait to try it out. I will start by saying that I will try them again at a later date because I hate to make a snap judgment from one visit. I must first say, I LOVE Louisiana seafood and it's one of the main reasons I love to visit the state. This did not qualify. At all. You don't smell the spices in the air almost overwhelming you when you walk in nor do you even get the aroma of seafood frying... another patron left for that very reason. I pressed on and ordered a seafood boil of crab legs and shrimp. It was ok and I probably wouldn't have side-eyed it as much had they just not mentioned Louisiana. It was seasoned, just not as spicy as i would have preferred and the boil didnt include sausage. I didn't think to add it. I just didn't understand that part. On a better note, it's nice and clean and it's also a seafood market so you can get lots of ingredients for a good seafood boil or gumbo or any number of dishes LA is famous for-- they also had produce in the fridge! So that part was alright. Next time, I will just go for seafood and just LA out of my head and I'm sure I can enjoy it a lot more. read more

I only been here twice, but after coming back for a second time around, I've noticed some new food items were added onto the menu. You can basically purchase fresh seafood that you can either cook at home or let them steam your food for an addition cost. Not only there's seafood on the menu, but they now offer chicken wings with different variety of flavor. If you don't want anything that's fried, they offer the same seafood combo except it's on a healthier side. I ended up getting the catfish fillet with fried okra and a cup of seafood gumbo. My first time getting the catfish, my fish wasn't properly drained since it still had grease on the back. This time around, my fish was drained and it seems like they gave me more fried okra this time around. The seafood gumbo has a good amount of seafood and the broth was tasty. The only downside is that I wanted cocktail sauce and it was a cost of 50 cents which I didn't feel that justified the cost of cocktail sauce and what funny is they didn't charge me the last time, but it has been a year since I've eaten here. read more

Great place for cooked and fresh seafood. I love that they will cook your food while you wait. You also have the option of buying fresh (fresh-frozen I'm sure) and preparing it at home. The menu includes a great variety. I had the fried catfish and fried shrimp which were both good. read more

Their Koo wings are delicious, I wish I stayed closer so that I could eat them more often. I have to go to their restaurant any time I'm on their side of town, and I also tell all my friends about them. I have also had their fish and okra which is also very good. The basa was done of the best I have had at a restaurant. The only thing that I've eaten that wasn't good was the shrimp fried rice. The shrimp was awesome but the rice was crunchy and dry. I would still recommend this restaurant, and will probably give the shrimp fried rice another try, just in case they were having a bad day. Also they sale fresh seafood, so if you prefer to buy and cook it yourself this would be a good place to go. read more

First of all their food is okay and so I'm not going in about their food.This is more so about their service and to be more precise, this about their lack offering a call in service for the working community which affords them to make a living selling food in the Center Point area. I'm guessing that their attitude is " where else are y'all going to buy the product since we're the only seafood market in the area and we don't care about the inconvenience we cause you by making you stand and wait on average 20 minutes after you place your order." Which my reply would be if you actually don't like the community you are serving then you shouldn't open a business in that area. read more

Fish is usually delicious but I think they should offer two sides for the price. Also, the crab cakes aren't bad but taste nothing like a crab cake. It's just fried seasoned mush (A LOT of filler). It was $5.99. I'd rather pay more or get less of something that actually tastes like a crab cake. read more

The Centerpoint area has been in need of a legit seafood restaurant for quite some time now. A few local spots fry fish and shrimp, but there isn't much range in the menu. Mainly serving whitening, catfish, tilapia may get u by, but it won't get you thru the competition who all serve some form of the previous fish listed. You need to stand out if you wish to play fish and chips with the Centerpointians, and Koos seafood has found a way to do just that. They have an absolute arsonnel of seafood. From Maui Maui, to aligator, to frog legs, and let's not forget the Crawfish. Koos has developed a colorful menu of choices. I recommend this lovely place to anyone in need of a little fish on a Friday afternoon. read more

This is one of the worst experiences I've had to experience. I placed a take out order for fried catfish, shrimp and fried okra. I was picking the plate up for a friend, so he didn't eat it right away. But once he decided to eat, he broke off a small piece of fish and then noticed the hair laying between the first and 2nd piece. I politely took the meal back to get a resolution of a new plate or refund. The manager tells me that I had to have placed that on the fish because no one in here has that color of hair. I told her that I don't have the time nor patience to go home and place a piece of hair between 2 pieces of fish, just to get a new plate or refund. When I patronize these establishment for service, I expect to receive my goods in the order that I requested, but keep your hair and other non perishable items to yourself. This was my last time visiting. You shouldn't have to give a rating when it's bad. read more

So basically this is what i can truly say about this spot. If you are ordering anything fried from them DONT, the crab legs are winners and steamed/blackened shrimp with french fries are a plus. I came here a couple of days ago and gotten tilapia(fried hard add lemon pepper seasoning) with fries. Tilapia was TOO HARD and no seasoning, to me personally it taste like Ocean Perch but thats my taste buds. Because i seen someone order before mine with the blackened shrimp i knew i was willing to at least see will that be different. So i came in yesterday gotten crab legs, blackened shrimp, HORRIBLE potatoes, and good sweet corn. Needless to say the shrimp and crab with corn are winners for me BUT i disnt mention I had gotten food for mom lol. The ocean perch basically had grease sitting on it, the tilapia just taste like it had no seasoning at all. So in a nuttshell i will on come here for crabs and shrimp but anything fried is a no go for me. read more

I love the gumbo! Authentically Cajun, which is surprising since Koo herself is Korean. But, somewhere along the way she mastered making great shrimp gumbo. This is very much a deli takeout, but there are about a half dozen tables where you can eat in and enjoy all manner of folks stopping by for the variety of seafood choices available for lunch. You can also purchase seafood for cooking at home, though choices are limited to about a dozen items. Rice portions with entrees are huge! I had enough rice for 3 meals. There are some take out choices other than seafood. The General Zhou Chicken was succulent and popping with flavor. I hope she opens a place in Shelby County. But if you happen to be in Center Point for some reason, check Koo's out for a real lunch treat. read more

First time visiting we had a big call in order.... needless to say the order was WRONG. Yet in still the food was fresh and tasty! Me personally I was happy to see perch on the menu... I hate catfish and even more so tilapia. Only thing I would say is that I should've requested my perch to be fried HARD. It was too soft. Other than that seasoned well and great prices. I chose this place a couple days ago, on a Friday evening. I'm not real big on eating a large variety of seafood but I got the fried fish combo with tilapia(1),jumbo shrimp (5) with one side (hushpuppies4-5). I liked that they cook the food to order, they have the fish, shrimp, & other seafood in the display case on ice....very good selection of different fish. You can get it raw to take home and cook yourself or they will cook it for you ($1 cooking fee)...that's an interesting concept I thought. The value was ok but I was thinking another piece of fish would have been great for the price but it was still pretty tasty and fresh so not a deal breaker. I had a sample of the gumbo soup also which was tasty as well. I will go again but I won't say it's better than Fish Market Restaurant or anything right now BUT for a new eating place in the neighborhood & the freshness, I would give it a thumbs up. I would give 3 stars because it was my first visit so need to try a few more times, and not quite enough food in my opinion for $8. I went ahead & added an extra star because if you want to have seafood night at the house and don't wanna go to the grocery store, it's a convenient option, with the seafood breading and some other condiments available for purchase right there along with the fresh seafood. They also had a few other side items to purchase over in the case or produce section to go along with the fish and some beverages so that was a plus on the convenience side. read more
