After enjoying Sunday dinner here previously, we came back to Simone's Kitchen & Cocktails to experience their Saturday brunch, and overall, it was another solid visit. We were seated immediately, and our hostess also served as our waitress. Despite wearing multiple hats, she did a great job making recommendations, and every suggestion she made turned out to be a winner. The atmosphere had plenty of energy thanks to a live DJ, giving brunch a fun vibe. My only complaint was the volume. The music was loud enough that it made conversation at our table difficult. To drink, I ordered the It's a Henny Thang, while my wife chose the Rosa Goddess. Both cocktails were excellent and easily among the highlights of the meal. For brunch, we ordered the SKC Salmon Croquettes, Cajun Catfish & Grits, and SKC Chix & Waffles. The Cajun Catfish & Grits was the clear standout. The catfish was crispy, well-seasoned, and paired perfectly with the creamy grits. If you're visiting for brunch, this is the dish I'd recommend first. The Salmon Croquettes were also good. While they didn't quite reach the level of the catfish, they really came alive with a splash of Crystal Hot Sauce, which added just the right amount of acidity and heat. The only disappointment was the Chix & Waffles. The waffles were good but not particularly memorable, and the chicken wings didn't have quite the same wow factor we experienced during our previous visit. Overall, Simone's continues to impress with quality food, creative cocktails, and friendly service. While not every dish hit the same high note, the catfish and grits alone are worth the return trip, and the cocktails were outstanding. Recommendation: Order the Cajun Catfish & Grits, don't skip the cocktails, and if you prefer a quieter brunch, be prepared for the DJ to bring plenty of energy. read more

So it's funny because, I think I enjoyed my to-go catfish and okra more than sitting down! To go was much more crispier and satisfying. Of course catfish is a "muddier" fish type so I expect some graying or pieces not as flavorful, but it was maybe a 6/10 in-restaurant versus 9/10 at home/takeout. Service was average and our waitress was helpful and polite. Music was mostly R&B and a little louder at times depending on the song, but palatable aside from a few unnecessary rap songs that weren't really the vibe for me, personally. Veggies with teriyaki were just okay, and 1/3 of the cup had olive oil base that could have been drained or replaced with more sauce/seasoning. Shrimp was my favorite, 10/10! And those egg rolls! They were slow and it was probably because they shut down part of the restaurant for a reception. Where we sat, was dirty, I cleaned the table myself. I ordered a catfish and shrimp platter. The catfish and shrimp were fried well. The Mac wasn't cheesy enough for me. Fries weren't fried fully. Appetizers arrived after eating and drinking. Service wasn't great overall. The food was good! My first visit and the food did not disappoint. I went on a Friday during lunch and there wasn't much of a crowd but I did notice people order to go. I decided to dine in and the service was great. Very attentive and followed up a lot to see if I needed anything else. I ordered the Brussel sprouts which had a sweet sauce and topped with bacon. I really enjoyed the spin on the brussel sprouts and the portion was sharable. I also ordered the cajun pasta trio (I believe that's the name) which came with sausage, shrimp and chicken. It was recommended by my waitress. It was amazing. I thoroughly enjoyed it although I wish the sauce was a tad bit thicker, it was hard to get my noodles to stay on my fork. My dance team is starting an experience with after class dining. Our first dining was my suggestion. I picked Simone's because I came here in a family outing and I had good memories from that visit. Victoria was our waitress and she really gave us fab service. Every question was promptly answered every request was taken care of. She did it all with big smile. I was impressed by her. I really wasn't that hungry after dancing so I only ate my salad which filled the plate everyone was highly pleased with their entrees. I got the blackened salmon with Mac and cheese with side salad. Finally dug into the blackened salmon and the Mac and Cheese and both were major success to my taste buds. I will be more than happy to return here for more food fun. Yelp! I like Simone's. We are a party of 5, being served by Natasha. We are greeted upon entry and provided with a water beverage. Simone's is a cool vibe with nice music and a plethora of seating, nobody's here, oh it's Tuesday night. Well the Gal-friends are here for this food! We ordered most of the available apps, 2 Brussels, 1 Southwest egg rolls, 1buffalo chicken egg rolls and fried green tomatoes. Whoa! These folks giving out a lot of food. These Apps are huge. The egg rolls and Brussels live up to their reputation. No, to those fried green tomatoes. We already full! But these pork chops calling me. I guess they calling all of us. 4 of us got pork chops, only one order of grilled. Sides were 3 side salads, Mac and cheese and okra. Walker got hot honey lemon pepper wings and fries. Everything good! Everything seasoned! Fries were added to one of the Mac and cheese orders. The chef came out to offer apologies and express to enjoy them on the house. We did! Simone's doesn't miss! Everything is always fresh and flavorful. I've been a longtime supporter, before the restaurant and food trucks and she's been consistently good over the years. I love her creativity and business sense, I feel that she has been a major asset to the food truck community's burst on the scene here in the city. Her restaurant is a whole vibe and hosts weekly themed nights/events (Brunch Day Party on Saturdays, Bingo Nights, Soul Food Sundays). I've heard due to the popularity, wait times can be over 30-45 minutes. I've never experienced this personally though. This is one of my favorite female and minority owned businesses in the city. This spot is new and popular! I visited by default on a Friday afternoon for lunch. And yes, it was busy!! Honestly, I almost left because of the wait and the menu. The staff was engaged and informative so this made me just see it through. I ordered the hot honey lemon pepper(4) whole wings with fries-$16. I have a confession: I DO NOT LIKE WHOLE WINGS!!! My daughter and I were on a quest to try a new soul food restaurant and ended up at Simone's Kitchen. First, there is ample parking available, plus handicapped accessibility. We were there on a Wednesday, so things were somewhat slow, which was good for us. Upon entering, we were told to seat ourselves, nice. Nice vibe with a lounge feel on a Wednesday evening. Definitely a place to meet friends for drinks or a date night. The service was friendly and personable. Our orders were taken and food served quickly. We ordered, Brussel sprouts, fried okra and macaroni and cheese. By far, the BEST brussel sprouts that I have ever had! That sweet smoky sauce that they were cooked in really went well with the firm but soft brussel sprouts. The okra was fried to perfection, not too hard or soft. I don't think, I've ever had a Mac and cheese this cheesy. This is the perfect dish for cheese lovers. However, it was a bit too salty for me. Oh yeah, the strawberry lemonade was a hit! Today is my birthday so why not post a birthday food review. I got the chance to check out Simone's Kitchen and Cocktails (last week) and here's how my visit went. Walked in decorations were nice well painted loved the mural of the restaurant. I did a call in order and was told it would be ready at 5:15pm (it was not). It took probably another 15 minutes or so but I wasn't stressing. I will wait for good food. One employee I guess was late for her shift came in loud and cursing. Personally not something I'd do in front of a customer but hey didn't bother me. I guess she felt comfortable. So I got my food and headed back home. First up was the Hot Honey Lemon Pepper Wings. Yall these things were pure fire! Seasoned well and the sauce was a banger! I don't often lick my fingers but I was not letting that sauce go to waste. I would legit buy a bottle of that sauce alone. The only down part is I couldn't taste the lemon pepper but I don't even care them wings was too good! 9.8/10 I also got Wings on the Bayou which was just whole fried wings and a sweet and spicy sauce on the side. Aye look them wings were seasoned perfectly and were definitely crunchy and not soggy somebody auntie was back there with the arm fat. I had completely forgot I even had the sauce. I ate them without it lol. 10/10 Then we have the Jerk Chicken Egg Rolls. This was by far my least favorite. The egg rolls were hot and crunchy but the inside fell flat. Bland and very dry. But when I dipped it into the jerk sauce stuff on the side it truly saved it for me. Without the sauce 5/10 with the sauce brought it to a solid 8/10 yes the sauce was that good and carrying it. The fries were just fries. They had some sort of seasoning but it was bland and couldn't taste whatever it was. I just dipped them in the ranch they gave me with the chicken and moved on. 5/10 Now I had no idea they made their own lemonade blends until I got there. The lady at the counter said at that time they had two flavors so I bought both. The first one was some sort of mango lemondae. I am not a fan of mangos so for me to say this was good means a lot and it gets a 8/10 a mango person would probably give it a 10/10. And the pink one I can't remember what flavor it was idk if it was strawberry or what but it was by far my favorite. Easy 10/10 if they sold this by the gallon I'd definitely buy it! All in all my experience was great I enjoyed my food and definitely plan to go back and get more wings and that lemondae. I hope to make it to the brunch one day as well. What a flex? I had been in my Spyder enjoying a day off. I've had Simone's food before, but it's always been catered and excellent! So, we decided to try the restaurant. Walked in and was greeted, taken to our seats and ordered drinks and appetizers. Five minutes into the meal, some people smell something burning. We are asked to step outside and wait for the fire department. You can't make this up. We were hungry, the staff was nice, so we decided to stay. Fortunately, the building was not on fire. We were let back in and just like that, our food was out. I ordered pork chops, mac and cheese and fried okra. It's hard to season okra, but they did it. It's the best friend okra I've ever had. The mac and cheese was better than homemade and the pork chops were almost as good as mine. I don't know how long she marinates them, but they were seasoned in such a way that you know the spice had to rest a while, probably overnight. The environment was friendly with gospel music in the background. We enjoyed listening to the music while waiting for our food. My father and I got the herb baked chicken, Mac and collards, which was well seasoned and tasty. My son got the fried chicken wings and my mom got the catfish. Both said they thoroughly enjoyed. My guess and I walked in and was greeted immediately and there was about a 10 sec wait while the table was being cleaned and dried. In that 10 seconds we were approached and greeted by at least 3 more staff members that asked how we were and had we been helped. The waitress was amazing. By her explanation, one would assume that no guest waited long for there food once ordered. She explained some to-go orders were being prepared but our food would be out shortly. That was impressive and we were still served within 15 minutes of arrival. I ordered the catfish and my guest ordered the sirloin tips. In short, everything was excellent.
