I'm glad I tried it--it was a very good espresso martini, and I'll definitely be back for another. I also really enjoyed the simplicity of the restaurant's decor. It felt clean, modern, and inviting. Even though Bayonet is an oyster and seafood restaurant, I appreciated that there wasn't a strong seafood or fish smell, which made the atmosphere even more pleasant. For food, I decided to step outside my comfort zone and order from the oyster bar. I selected four oysters from different regions: Murder Point (Alabama), Birthday Girl (Virginia), Aunt Dotty's (Massachusetts), and Eel Lake (Nova Scotia). The bartender was super attentive and willing to offer recommendations, which came in handy. In fact, she was the reason I decided to try the Aunt Dotty's ($3.75) and Eel Lake ($4) oysters, and I'm so glad I took her advice because they ended up being my favorites! Murder Point ($3) and Birthday Girl ($3.25)were probably my least favorites, although I did try them more "naked" to appreciate their natural flavors. I really enjoyed the Aunt Dotty's and Eel Lake oysters, especially with hot sauce and cocktail sauce. With such a wide variety available, I could see myself coming back several times and trying a different selection each visit. I also ordered the Shrimp Toast from the Happy Hour menu. Since I was outside the Happy Hour time frame, it was $16 instead of $12, but it was still well worth it. It was flavorful and different from the shrimp toast I've had at other local restaurants, and I would definitely recommend giving it a try. Overall, I had a great experience at Bayonet. The food, drinks, atmosphere, and attentive service made it a memorable visit, and I can see why the restaurant has received Michelin recognition. I'm looking forward to coming back and trying more of the menu!
