Korean Air Boeing Plane at Sea-Tac Airport
    Jon L.

Good airline. Almost as good as Singapore Airlines. On my second international trip ever, I flew on Korean Air from Seattle to Shanghai with a stopover at Incheon Airport. On the return, I flew Korean from Hong Kong to Seattle with a stop again at Incheon. Korean Air provides service from Seattle to Incheon Airport where you connect to other Asian cities from there. Like most international flights out of Sea-Tac, Korean flies out of the South Satellite terminal in which you need to take the people mover system to get to. There are not very many appealing dining options at South Satellite, so it would be best to get a bite in the Central Terminal before heading over. I love flying international because of the extras (previously standard offerings) that flying domestic in the US no longer provides like meal service (even on a 2 hour flight!) and free check-in baggage. Check-in at Seattle was fine, though Korean is located at the far end of the airport. I did have to provide my airline miles number since my travel agent didn't enter it initially, which the ticketing agent successfully completed. Though it seemed like English was their secondary language. I did have to provide my mileage info again at HK since the Seattle agent didn't enter it in. At Hong Kong Airport, the Korean location is Terminal 1. I found it easier to speak Cantonese (though I am not great at speaking it). Though I think English would have been fine too. Major props to the ticketing agents for being able to converse in numerous languages. Flight time to Asia is longer than the return. The planes used to cross from Seattle to Incheon were bigger than the ones used for my East Asian flights naturally. Seating was pretty comfortable for economy class. I had aisle seats on all of my flights. I actually found the seats all the way at the back to be the most comfortable as it seemed to have a little more space. Two meals were served on the long flight over the Pacific and I got a meal on the flight to Shanghai and travelling from HK. If you are taking Korean, you definitely need to try the beef bibimbap bowl. It comes with gochujang (hot pepper) sauce that does wonders for this dish. The only thing is the portion is kind of small and I felt hungry afterwards soon after. But I like this over the Western options. Though the omelette I had for breakfast back to Seattle was not too bad. As far as drinks, they serve beer, wine and spirits along with the usual drinks. Give the Korean beer a try if you haven't. Also, I was surprised to see that they serve Hawaiian Sun guava nectar and pineapple juice. Random, but awesome. The entertainment system on Korean is great. They have a library of 60 or so movies available. The majority of flicks are very recent. There is Hollywood fare as well as Chinese, European, Japanese and Korean films. You can also watch TV comedies and dramas, though I noticed there was not much of a selection of Korean dramas. Rounding out the entertainment are a selection of games and a library of music (radio stations and albums) including a whole section devoted to Korean music. Though I didn't see "Gangnam Style" as a selection. I am sure that will become an option on the system soon. I did lastly want to make note of what happens after landing at Incheon and Sea-Tac. At Incheon, the floor that arriving passengers enter the airport is not the same as the one that departing passengers leave from. Arriving passengers enter one floor down. If South Korea is your destination, you go to immigration. If you are transferring, you need to go through a security area and get re-screened. Once clear, you take the escalator upstairs to get to your gate. It would have been great to take advantage of the shopping at Incheon since it is very mall-like, but I didn't have much connection time left before boarding the second flight after going through security. As for at Sea-Tac, they also separate arriving passengers from those departing. You go through immigration and then pick up your baggage at South Satellite instead of at the main baggage area. After doing so, you go through customs before exiting. Overall, the experience flying at Korean was pretty good. I liked it almost as much as my flights on Singapore Airlines last year. In-flight service and the flying experience was smooth. I would gladly fly Korean again.

Because we have oneworld status we were able to use the First Class checkin. Lines were long but given it was Memorial Day, understandable. Agents were friendly and helpful. Our original flight wasn't until 11:25a but there was an earlier flight at 8 that the checking agent was able to get us on. Because we switched flights, we couldn't get premium economy seats or be seated next to each other like we had for our earlier flight but we'd get home three hours sooner. So that was well worth the trade off. Alaska serves the tastiest Hazelnut Espresso Vodka and Five Farms Irish Cream Liquor. When you get both and add milk, it's a delicious cocktail. Friendly flight attendants.

My experience with Alaska Airlines was extremely disappointing--not because of the mechanical issue…read moreitself, but because of how the airline handled it. Our aircraft was grounded due to a wheel problem, and all passengers were asked to deplane. I understand that safety must always come first, and I appreciate that the airline chose not to take unnecessary risks. Unfortunately, everything that followed was handled poorly. An Alaska Airlines representative rebooked me from my original itinerary, which was scheduled to arrive around 3:30 p.m., to the last flight of the night, changing my arrival time to approximately midnight. When I questioned the change, I was told to go to the standby gate in Seattle because they could not change my reservation back to the earlier flight, but the gate agents there would be able to help. I followed those instructions exactly. When I arrived at the standby gate, I discovered that Alaska Airlines had not completed the reservation correctly, and I still could not board an earlier flight. I was forced to remain on the last flight of the night because of the airline's mistake. While I was trying to resolve the issue with a gate agent, another employee who identified himself as the supervisor interrupted our conversation and began having a personal discussion with the agent while I was standing there waiting for assistance. It was disrespectful and incredibly frustrating to be ignored while trying to solve a problem created by the airline. When I expressed my frustration, the supervisor simply told me to go to Customer Service elsewhere in the terminal instead of allowing the agent to continue helping me. Fortunately, I eventually met Cesar at Customer Service. He was, without question, the most professional, courteous, and helpful employee I encountered that day. He listened, understood the situation, and genuinely worked to help resolve it. Cesar deserves recognition for providing the level of customer service every Alaska Airlines employee should strive to deliver. Mechanical problems happen, and passengers understand that. What is much harder to accept is poor communication, conflicting information, lack of follow-through, and employees who seem unwilling or unable to solve problems. Instead of taking ownership, I was sent from one employee to another while my travel plans continued to deteriorate. Passengers deserve to be treated with respect and should be able to rely on the airline to honor the transportation they purchased or provide competent assistance when disruptions occur. My experience fell far short of that expectation. With the exception of Cesar, every interaction I had left me feeling that customer service was not a priority. Alaska Airlines should invest in better communication, employee training, and empowering frontline staff to resolve customer issues instead of passing passengers from one desk to another. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend Alaska Airlines. Safety should never be compromised, but neither should customer service. An airline is judged not by whether problems occur, but by how it treats its passengers when they do. Unfortunately, Alaska Airlines failed that test.

But I've flown with Delta plenty of times thru the years, and usually have a good experience with them. Fast forward to 2026, and most airlines will nickle and dime you on all their services; services that used to be complimentary. But it's a whole different world now. However, Delta is one of the very few airlines that will still allow a free carry on item plus a personal item. So kudos to Delta! As with all other airlines, Delta has cut back on their meal service. Food is available for purchase but don't expect a free meal on board. I had a 6.5 hr flight and all we got was your choice of Cheezits, pretzels or cookies, and a beverage. We could have purchased a cold, probably not so good sandwich for $15 but no thanks! Best to eat before boarding or bring your own food into the plane. Please don't bring stinky food onto the plane....everyone will thank you! lol All in all, (even though services have been cut), hospitality and customer service is still pretty great! Kudos to Delta's friendly, professional and courteous staff!

We were heading back on a 17:30 flight, but needed to check out of our airbnb by 11, so ended up at the airport quite early (like more than 5 hours early). Delta allows one to check their bags up to 6 hours earlier than departure time, and since we now had wine that we needed to bring back, needed to check two bags. Everything went fine, and the agent gave us the receipts. Later I noticed that the our flight number was not on the tags, but the notifications on the Delta App said it was checked in for the right flight. I then got a notification 45 minutes later stating that our bags were now on the plane. My first (incorrect) thought was, "Wow, our plane got here real early.". But then I realized that it was a different flight number, and they were going to send the bags on a much earlier flight. Since I had time before my flight (and I don't mind walking), decided to see if I could get some help to get the bag pulled as soon it entered the carousel at LAX (vs having it spin around for 1 hour before being picked up). I figured I would get some help since the situation was caused by somebody at Delta doing something incorrect, in the first place. Initially went to the Delta Lounge to see if the service agent inside could help me. Since I was still well outside the 3 hour access period, was told (nicely) by the entry agent to go to Concourse B to get help from an agent. Once I got there, noticed there were two agents on duty with no queue. Karen pleasantly asked me how she could help, and then proceeded to do the opposite. Once I explained my problem, her response was 'it happens sometimes', and that unclaimed bags would be picked up for storage and I could pick it up later at the office. I told her that I didn't like it being unattended where anybody could just pick it up and go, and instead if Delta baggage from LAX could grab it as soon as it came out (I know this is possible). She sighed and then started to type away for 5 minutes, mumbling that she would look for the phone number for the LAX baggage office. I wasn't sure if she was going to just give me the number for me to call, or she would do it herself...but it never got that far. She just said that her computer wasn't cooperating, and that I could use the bank of landline phones to call Delta customer service to get the number. The bad part of me wanted to tell the next person in line, 'she won't be much help' while pointing to Karen and walking away, but thought better of it. I then walked back to the Delta lounge, told the entry agent that Karen wasn't very helpful, and asked nicely if I could talk to an agent in the lounge. She agreed (but warned me that I needed to leave as soon as I was done) and directed me to Susan. I explained my problem, and she proceeded to confidently tell me that I could pick up my bags at the LAX baggage office. After two iterations of this, I told her that 'she wasn't listening to me'...which finally got her attention. I requested if she could call the LAX office, and she said that she could try, but often times, they don't pick up the phone. And she told me if the baggage was stolen, I could always file a claim. I still asked her to try to call, and she said she would. When it became clear that she wouldn't do it at that moment, there was nothing more for me to do but to leave. I did later get a notification on the Delta App that my bags had arrived at the carousel, being one of the first bags out. It was then a full 90 minutes later when I got a notification saying that it had been picked up by the Delta baggage office...so thinking there was no call. As we were boarding our flight, got an email saying that our baggage needed to be picked up at the baggage office, since it had arrived early. When we got to LAX (almost 2 hours late because of delays), the bags were waiting for us just like Delta said it would. Learned (again) that sometimes trying to be proactive about solving a possible edge-case problem, requires the people who can help to agree that 1) it's a problem and 2) they should spend the effort to help the customer solve it. On this day, the LAX/SEA Delta employees and I didn't agree on either.

You will be pestered with emails suggesting to pay for this and that in advance to make your trip more pleasant or predictable. You MAY be asked to prove that your hand luggage fits in their size bins (there were two next to my gate with stern warnings, so you can try in advance). You CAN pay through the app in the airport if you need to convert your personal item into a carry-on but that will eat some of the savings. The seats do not tilt; because of that the seating area is actually wider and pant size 42 man comfortably fits with no intrusion to the neighboring space. IMHO 44 should fit too. Your flight crew WILL be nice and bottomless tea or coffee will be 4 bucks. The lavatory is, probably, not cleaned between the flights. I was first and the seat was already "sprinkled" and one of two rolls of toilet paper was already down to the bare core. Short delays are very common with Frontier (at least on LAX-SEA they are) but usually they recover most of it through the flight. My flight left 20 minutes late but arrived on-time. If you fly with just the "personal item" AKA small backpack 18x14x8", accept the toilet situation (I am not saying that they never clean, only that on my flight it was not - for sure), and OK with the need to walk / take a free shuttle from the gate to the airplane, you will save 35%. If you have carry on, you will save ~15%, and if you are flexible with your travel dates, you will fly half-price comparing to the major airlines. The caveat is the usual - no changes and no upgrades of anything.

There was a woman and a man who were in the back of the plane where the restrooms are. Before the flight even took off, the woman said to her male coworker that "the higher ups" don't like her and that's why she's in the back. They then continued talking extremely loudly to the extent that I and several people seated near me thought the conversation was coming out of the overhead speakers. Their conversations consisted of a kind of flirty exchange where the woman was sharing her entire dating life, stories about being drunk and even saying that she has 6 months clean. They continued talking extremely loudly despite multiple passengers looking back and questioning how they could be so unaware. The plane was extremely quiet as many people were returning from Las Vegas so extremely tired and trying to nap. After about 45 minutes, I went to the bathroom near them and politely asked if they realized that the whole back half of the plane e could hear their entire conversation. The response was that this is how they keep themselves awake on the job and began laughing and exchanging undermining and outwardly rude glances. I went back to my seat and about 10 minutes later, a man who was two rows from the back of the plane stood up and asked something similar to the following...would you guys mind keeping it down? We have spent the entire time on this flight listening to your discussions about inappropriate subjects and we would appreciate it if you would remain professional and spare us the details of your personal lives. They laughed and did not respond at which point t he said, "no wonder the higher up's don't like you." They continued to converse loudly and snicker about the passengers requests. At one point a different flight attendant approached them and we thought she would be asking them to quiet down but within moments she was laughing and clearly not informing them that they were out of line. At this time, I was filming and attempting to Document the situation. The woman then approached my seat and demanded that I stop recording. She had a red card and said if I did not stop recording she would hand the red card and I would be met by the police upon landing. When I tried to explain the situation, she said that she was unaware of that and when I asked for a supervisor, she stated the there was no supervisor on board and reminded me that it is against privacy rules to Record anyone without their permission. Overall, this was the worst flight I have ever experienced. The lack of professionalism and common courtesy was astounding. I will never fly with Frontier again.

While there is always room for minor improvements, such as additional entertainment options or expanded meal choices, the overall service quality was reliable. Based on this experience, I would consider choosing this airline again for future travel.!!

I mean, at this point what can I really say about Spirit that we all don't already know?…read more I still say in certain situations; they can be a decent fit. Take our recent quick 2-day trip from LAS to SEA. Roundtrip tickets were barely over $100 per person round trip. Holy crap! Say what you want, but that is a real good price! Bag fees are tricky for me. If I have a short trip I don't need to pack a lot. No matter what you do, you do get a free personal item. That is really calling it too tight for comfort, IMO. So, for this last trip I did an upgrade on their website for $35 per way, per person ($140.00 total). My extra $140 got us assigned seating to sit next to my partner for both flights near the front of the plane for both legs. It also got both of us a free carry-on item each, both ways in addition to our personal item. More than enough for a 2-day trip! Considering the fact that, if you checked in a bag at the airport day of, it could cost you $65 per bag, per leg that feels like a great deal! I mean, even with the extra money my total ticket price is still under $200 each round trip. I can totally live with that! As for the flights themselves, it is still Spirit so keep your expectations reasonable (read:low). Both flights were delayed, but nothing too bad. Usual mix of some very nice employees and some mildly passive ones as well. Nothing too bad. Honestly, I can bitch all I want, but I know for the right price and a short enough trip I will use them again. 3 stars.

The airline is known for offering flights to the most destinations around the world. I flew on Turkish a few years ago from Seattle to Thessaloniki via Istanbul during spring break. For the most part, it was a good experience. The pluses are mostly with the in-flight experience. They use Dreamliner planes and serve tasty meals on all flights, including my short haul flights to and from Greece. The IFE system has extensive entertainment and they give all passengers an amenity bag on long haul flights. Lastly, the baggage allowance is generous as you can check in 2 bags. I do also want to bring up some items to consider booking on Turkish. My flight to Istanbul was nearly a hour late, but I still made my connection. Try not to book flights with short layovers. Also some of the connections have long layovers to destinations in the Middle East and Central Asia with flights arriving at odd hours. You may want to consider doing a stopover in Istanbul instead, which Turkish has a good program for. Lastly, gate security in Istanbul is extensive. So expect a thorough check of your carryon items before your flight. Overall, I enjoyed flying on Turkish. It is a well run airline with good fares to Europe and a great in-flight experience. However, you should consider travel time, especially layovers and the amount of backtracking needed to get to your destination when deciding whether to book.

Our layover was long enough to be able to get to our next gate, and yet short enough to feel like we weren't wasting time. The flight was frankly luxurious compared to other long international flights. We flew to South America yearly for a while, and the economy experience on Turkish Airlines was like the Business Class experience on the unnamed airline to Montevideo. There were always two options for the meals. My wife was able to get gluten-free meals. The help staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It may well have been the best long flight experience in my life.
