I traveled from Detroit to Seattle first class on 3/2/26 and the service on the flight was dismal. I had to ring the flight attendant buzzer for a beverage while she sat in their designated seat watching Facebook Reels. When I went to the restroom I gave her my empty glass. When I was finished, she was still watching Facebook Reels and still had my empty glass. When I asked her for another beverage, she starred at me like I was an alien and then finally said yes with a bad look on her face. Once I landed, my bag took 50 minutes to show up on the carousel. I chose the "Saver" option. During checkout it asked me to upgrade for $57 to choose my seat. I chose an aisle seat, it showed 31C in my confirmation. When checking in my seat was changed to a center seat 28E. A middle seat. I could have got that crappy seat without upgrading. When I complained they said even if you upgrade no seats are guaranteed. Horrible experience when we got stuck at the airport during the IT outage mess on Thursday, October 23, 2025! I will never forget this birthday trip out of Seattle aka SeaTac - total nightmare. Isn't this their Headquarters? I saw the "breaking news" on my phone from ABC News, yet no agents announced it over the loudspeaker, as hundreds of people were standing/sitting around looking clueless. No effective communication whatsoever. Some passengers were saying the staff didn't know either what was going on. Apparently, this wasn't their first IT outage, but definitely not this caliber I was told. Clearly, after hearing delays/cancellations one after another, we expected our flight to SFO to be cancelled as well. The ticket agents non-chalantly advised us to go to customer service which they said would be a long line, or call their 1-800#, which is just as long - wait time approximately 5-8 hours. We all started lining up, keep in mind, there was only 1-2 customer service reps at Gate N terminal, whereas the other side (which you have to catch a tram to) is Gate C terminal, which had 5-6 customer service reps, but the line was wrapped around the entire terminal. They couldn't call for backup? What an embarassement, worst customer service! 14 hours later, we get to the front of line only to be rebooked on a Saturday morning (well our Friday was already wasted), and the option of staying at a hotel, not right next to the airport, as they were all booked, so Tukwila was the closest. I was told the baggage claim was also a zoo, and one of the workers said it wouldn't be wise to go down there, as our luggages will make it to our destination before we do. We had already turned in our rental car, so transporation was made by them. Additionally, no restaurants were opened at those odd hours at the airport from midnight on. We literally saw the sun set and the sun rise. It was exhausting to say the least, and we had our doggie with us, who was the happiest passenger ever, can't say the same for the babies and toddlers. I felt bad for the parents with kids and elderly couples; all the passengers were distressed and inconvenienced. Add insult to injury, everyone was given a whopping $12 food voucher - are you kidding me, even Starbucks was $17? Have they heard of inflation and airport prices? What a joke, very disappointed. Then the stupid rebooking didn't work online for our boarding passes, as it asked for another pet fee (which we paid round-trip), and didn't honor the extra legroom we paid for WTH! My husband and son are both over 6'4" and had to fly in cramped seats in the back of the plane due to incompetence. That's why we flew Alaska in the first place to purchase extra legroom in premium class. Not to mention, we had no extra luggage, no jackets, no change of clothes, our toiletries were with our checked bags. We got up at the crack of dawn on a Saturday to get to our flight just to check-in for our boarding passes and resolve the pet issue. Lo and behold everybody with a pet and those with pets in cargo arrived to resolve their issue(s). I heard an agent not knowing how to enter someone's pet; she had never done it before. Then another seasoned agent came over to help her. Is this who they have on weekends, a bunch of rookies? Needless to say, our park & fly lot charged us another day, it caused a ripple effect of things. I hope they learned their lesson, as I was told the company went cheap and didn't upgrade their computer system. If you've bought out Hawaiian Airlines, you'd think to invest in a backup. Now, it's costing the company a lot more - reputation. Holidays are around the corner, don't want to be stuck sleeping in the airport. This was a nationwide fisasco via Alaska Airlines btw. I have not flown on Alaskan Airlines for decades, my initial experience was not great. I have to say, they have won me over. I love that your seat is assigned, no cattle call at the gate! Yes, Southwest I am talking about you. I found the flight attendants on point, I prefer the cart service with your own little can and a cup of ice. Much more efficient for all. I appreciate their focus on no plastics and kudos to them for being the first airline to eliminate all plastic! Seating is okay and on a par with any other airline. I was actually able to understand the overhead when the captain or an attendant spoke, appreciated that. Prior to boarding, given the option to volunteer to check in your carry on to make sure there was space available in the cabin for other carry ons as a full flight. I took this option and it was all seamless. I will definitely be back and consider them top of the list for my next trip. read more

I've flown Alaska Airlines before for both business trips and holiday getaways. However, this is my first time to fly direct to Maui from SeaTac Int'l Airport & Alaska Airlines main hub (8/26/25). Usually I've flown Hawaiian Airlines with a connection in Honolulu and onward to Kauai, Maui, or the Big Island. Granted I was able to book a reasonably priced coach RT ticket & a companion fare deal for The Homie. But kind of disappointed that there was just beverage service and a Biscoff packet. Truly just basic airline service. I rarely fly, but previous experiences were fun and exciting. This flight did the job getting from point A to point B, but meh. Flight crew were busy entire time with preboarding, safety spiel, beverage cart, customs forms, and info on the Atmos card. Props to them for their customer service. Sometimes you can't help delays when there's planes coming from areas with horrible weather. I was hearing that quite a few planes were extremely delayed coming from the east due to all the rain and flooding. And our flight was one of those that was delayed, but only by 17 minutes thankfully. We were lucky to get a pilot who loves his job and rushed over to our plane and limit the delay as much as possible. Great sense of humor too. It was a super smooth flight that he and his crew got us back in record time. He even poked his head out of the cockpit to introduce himself and wave to everyone, which was a nice touch. If only all pilot's were that enthused about their job. I hope I come across more like this Alaskan Airlines pilot. read more

Absolutely terrible customer service and deceptive tactics, shocking for such a big company! Booked travel with points, had to cancel based on a health issue, a whole month before the trip. They provided confirmation numbers for the cancel and said I could expect everything refunded within a weeks (and I kept the cancellation confirmations). Several weeks gone by, nothing returned. Called customer support, they said the cancellation codes don't give them what they need to look into it (what?), they transferred me to another department, have been waiting on hold over an hour with no way to confirm anyone even knows I'm waiting to talk to some - all while I'm also trying to work. Seems like the customer service strategy here is: - lie and tell them they're getting refunded - transfer them around and keep them on hold until they give up. The plane we caught from Seattle to Honolulu was on the smaller side. The seats were tight and the hubby complained about leg room. He wasn't too pleased with the front seat resting on his knees for the five hour flight. There were no screens for these type of planes. However, you can access their free movies on your phone from their website. I've been on Alaska a few times and they always leave and arrive on time. Service is always good. They gave out tiny pretzel twists as snacks on the flight along with free soda, juice, water or coffee. They do this twice on five hour flights. Flying Hawaiian I always get the pineapple juice. They don't offer it on Alaska, so I just opt for apple juice. Their clean up crew needs to do a better job. On the flight from Detroit to Seattle my seat was filthy. There were crumbs on my seat and there was a big brown spot on the carpet by my feet. It looked like someone spilled their powdered coffee. I'd rate Alaska as ok. I still prefer Hawaiian. read more

Every time I have to fly out of Seattle the flights are either delayed or once you get on the plane they have to can maintenance to air start the plane and that can take a while unfortunately. The first time I flew out of Seattle my flight was delayed almost 2 hours and thus last time I just recently flew out the plane needed to be air started and that took about an hour. The ticket agents are always friendly and helpful as well as the flight attendants. The seats on the planes are very comfortable and plenty of leg room although I either fly first class or premium. My pup flys with me now and I have no complaints as there is plenty of space under the seats for him. read more

That was my worst flight experience so far with any airline. My recent Alaska Airlines flight to Seattle was unfortunately marked by multiple delays and a deeply uncomfortable situation onboard. I was seated next to a passenger who was visibly very ill, coughing violently, sneezing without covering their mouth or nose, and exhibiting signs of distress that included passing out multiple times. Their hygiene was poor, and the odor was overwhelming to the point that I wondered if there had been an accident. While I genuinely felt compassion for this individual, the conditions made it extremely difficult to remain in my seat. They were physically occupying about a third of my seat, which added to the discomfort. I discreetly and respectfully asked the flight attendant if I could move to one of the more than ten visibly open seats, even offering to pay for the change. I was told no, citing aircraft weight distribution as the reason. Other passengers also voiced concern about the situation, but the crew's only response was to offer masks at this point more than halfway through the trip. It was clear that this person should not have been allowed to board in such a condition for their own safety and the wellbeing of myself and others. read more

This airport isn't the greatest at all. But despite that this flight the gate person Tamara was a great helping and very understanding. She was more helpful than the previous gate people in L.A. she was very attentive and didn't ignore the people sitting in the handicap seating area and made it a point to inform people that the disabled will be boarding first and went as far as pushing a chair down herself to help her coworker load the disabled people. The upgrade was well worth it for the more leg room and I have WiFi on this flight.The service and people a lot of the times really turn a bad experience into a good one and I truly thank that gate person for Alaska Airlines (Tamara) in Seattle. read more

- Inefficient proceedings. They didn't assign me a seat# (or better yet, let me choose one) until the very last minute, just when we're about to board the plane. D: - Very delayed flight. Our plane took off 1 hour after the designated time. - Short of snacks and drinks. They only had pretzels and tomato juice and OJ. I wanted lemonade and healthier snacks like fruit. + Polite staff. - They booked to the rim, so there was no luggage space for me. During boarding, I had to run down the aisle to find any empty space to store my suitcase, then midflight I did some sleuthing for an open compartment closer to my seat. Luckily, I found the perfect opening and moved my luggage closer to my seat. That way, when deplaning, I wouldn't have to wait for everyone to deplane before I can retrieve my suitcase. + On the + side, they brought me home safely, considering the commotion going on lately. -- Remind myself to deprioritize Alaska Airlines next time I pick a flight. What an absolute cluster. First off, the flight crew deserves to be recognized as the only good experience. The terminal staff have no customer service skills to speak of. Stuff happens, what i don't appreciate is being lied to repeatedly. 30 minute maintenance delay... then 90 minutes, then de-plane, then lied to that it's fixed, then asked to move gates while they fetch another plane, then another lie of 30 minutes, them de-plane that one because they were not ready for passengers. To the male terminal attendant at Gate C15, I would of fired you on the spot. Besidesbeing worthless, that attitude only made the experience worse. Add insult to injury, sat on the tarmac another 40 minutes to be served a substandard lunch. 5+ hour delay, terminal staff who can't give a shit and subpar food. I reported this to other attendants and they literally guarded the restroom. I had a flight attendant USE FOOD TRAYS to push me back to my cabin, ensuring I traveled from row 9 to row 25/30 during a medical emergency when I could tell I was bleeding out. I understand that first class is first class, but sometimes accidents happen. Paying customers should not be treated that way. I had to tie a scarf around my waist because I wasn't in first class. As far as airlines go Alaska has always been one of my favorites, if not my top fave. Service has always been good, regardless of cabin crew during flight or ground crew at check-in and boarding. The kiosk check-in system has always worked well for us. Often while checking in we'll get lucky and score discounted first class seating. On a recent flight from San Diego to Seattle we scored two seats in first class for $50 each. Totally worth it. read more

From the cabin crew member who chatted with us preflight to the flight attendants taking care of us your welcoming spirit to passengers was noticed. Always great to have a crew that loves their jobs and working together. Economy class flying for us, typical of what to expect with seating and legroom. Very clean and well maintained plane. Small delay for a maintenance check still arrived within 20 minutes of scheduled time. All luggage arrived with flight and several of us checked our carry-ons for free at the gate since it was a full flight and enjoyed the added perk of being seated with group A. Alaska changed our flight without notifying us. The "new" flight was 7 hours later. We had made our reservation- as their records showed - 6 months earlier. They offered no compensation insisted we had changed the flight ourselves. Asked if they could at least be admitted to the club the "Supervisor" Amanda said "we don't work with them". She offered and 800 number so Alaska could get a better understanding of the problem but no compensation. So here we are paying $130 for two club passes. Alaska is horrific! Fifty years of flying globally and no other airline beats Alaska's record of simply not caring about the customer. What could improve? They could show a grain of customer focus. I have always used Alaska Airlines. And they have been great. Which is why I'm leaving a 3 star and not a 1. What I don't understand is that last time I flew with them, I paid extra to upgrade my seat. When I bought the ticket and got my seat, it said that paying extra would let me chose my seat (11A- which is right behind first class) , AND it came with overhead storage for my carry on. I went to the counter an hour before boarding, not from the flight taking off, from BOARDING, and asked the clerk about my ticket because it didn't have a "class" written on it so I didn't know which class I was supposed to board on with when they started calling everyone. It only had the seat number 11A, which again, I had paid extra for. According to the guy there, I was the last class called (I think he said F) I was confused since I had paid the extra amount to move up to the front. But whatever, I didn't argue. When the LAST group gets called, the lady that scanned my ticket said I should've been the first group after first class and military / veterans, but now there's no overhead storage and I have to check my bag. I let her know the guy right behind her told me I had to wait, and I paid extra for both accommodations. Regardless, I guess if there's no room, there's no room. Horrible I had been a member of Hawaiian airlines for over 40 years. I could not believe how horrible Alaska airlines treats the elderly and handicapped and military veterans. When I first booked this flight we got delayed for over 2. 1/2 hours then we get our connecting flight. Then our seats were changed from the middle of the plane to all the way I the back in row 30. My husband hand neck and back surgery and I had a brain aneurism but o guess none of that matters to the corporate people all you care about is pretending to have aloha spirit when in fact it's all a farce. I've flown Delta my whole career (15+ years) with friends and family boasting how much they LOVE Alaska and I just don't get it. I've tried them here and there and never been that impressed, and it's hard to consider switching when I already have silver medallion status at Delta. However, I decided to give them a real chance this year, because they're supposed to be good, and the rewards program is supposed to be better and have a matching program to match my current delta status, but it's only February and already I think it's a mistake. For context, I usually give them a shot 1-2 times a year, and this year I've already been on 5 flights. But first, here are the positives: - The flight crew have always need really nice, friendly and helpful - The food is local to the PNW and good quality - The plane interior is always clean - There are loads of routes to and from Sea-Tac airport That's about all I can say, because there are just too many negatives to give them more credit than that. - On average, these have been some of the bumpiest flights I've ever experienced - Nearly EVERY landing is aggressive and shaky - The "customer care" line is a joke unless you have time to wait on hold for 2-3 hours (No call back function) - The app is atrocious - Inflight WiFi is abysmal, if it functions at all - the match program requires a fair amount of effort to submit paper work, but it's been over a month and not only have I not receive me as much as an email, but you can't find a human to speak with, and the AI is garbage. - I almost missed my last flight because they changed the gate at the last minute but never sent updated the app or made an announcement. - Finally, today my family went on vacation, and, shocker, the flight was full and they made the request for people to check a bag "for our convenience" (what a farce), but traveling with kids is hard enough, so we took up the offer and they couldn't even do that right. Now we're sitting here in LAX, missing the bag with about $1,000 of my wife's makeup ANS our kids booster seats missing. Alaska is a Garbage Airline and I regret ever giving them a chance. I've just had the worst experience of my life with Alaska airlines at SeaTac. I fly first class with them multiple times a month and have been very loyal to them. For some reason tonight this woman called So decided she thought I was too excitable to get on a 20 minute flight home to Vancouver from Seattle, because she overheard me having an excited conversation on the phone with my friends that I had just left. I asked her what her issue was and she told me it's her discretion to decide who does and doesn't get on her flight. It's midnight and it's a 20 minute flight. I had to spend $300 on a Hilton hotel to try tomorrow when someone else is there. This woman is disgusting and bitter. Her photo is attached. Her name is So and she works out of SeaTac. I flew on Alaska Airlines twice & I survived the Boeing 737 Max-9 experience. TBH yes I was a bit nervous, inlight of the very serious issues currently affecting Boeing aircraft! Despite a rather rude gate agent at SeaTac, who chastised us for having an extra bag, which was actually a very small sling bag, the AA experience was still good. Heading to NYC from Seattle on a plane built for 200 with only about 80 passengers meant plenty of room to stretch out on empty seats = yahoooooo! The seats only go back about 3", approx length of an index finger, so nothing magically comfortable. This is standard on most flights but I always hope & wish to be surprised & have the seat go back 7 inches like they did wayyyyyyyyy back in the day. Hee. A bit of turbulence, pleasant flight crew, cool sounding captain over the microphone & tasty Biscoff cookies. Does anyone pay for the onboard meals these days cause they sure look dull & are dayum expensive. Remember when inflight meals were free & they were actually quite good at times!? If you join Alaska's mileage plan, you can get access to movies & more etcetera. I got Spotify on my cell & actually pulled out 2 old iPods I hadn't used in years, that were buried away in the dungeon. I charged them up & my old Napster (don't tell anyone) mp3 collection played smoothly through my earbuds, helping make both flights to & from JFK easy like Sunday morning. Well except for the wee bit of turbulence of course but that goes with every flight I've ever been on. The Max-9 seems to handle flying like the Airbus aircraft. Now if only Boeing could just get its sheeeeiii together, everything would be awesome again. I do miss flying on the 747s. Top-two Airlines; Easy experience out of SeaTac I've recently adopted Alaska and Delta as my top airlines after so many cancellations on competitors. Have really enjoyed the difference-- seats are more comfortable, the order-ahead food is quite tasty, and the staff is super friendly. Even in the two times when there have been travel advisories (weather, a plane switch), they've communicated well and take great care of me thus far. My three lessons and takeaways from the last year: Upgrading to Premium seat has definitely been worth it with the early boarding and comfort of the seat and leg space. The card and rewards program for status are a good deal so far. Impressed with the friendly crews + good food. With SeaTac as my main airport, Alaska has a good presence, clean and comfortable gates, and nice lounges if needed. read more
