Perfect taco shop in Cardiff! We came here and I got a carnitas and fish taco! Came out super quick and even came with chips on the side! Looking forward to coming back!

My best friend and I had dinner here a couple weeks back. There were quite a few families already eating here when we arrived, so it seems like a very popular spot. The staff that took our order were friendly and gave us some free chips while we waited for our order. The ambiance was very casual. What we ordered: The chicken soup- their soup is advertised as the best in town but sadly I have to say it was not very flavorful and the chicken was a bit dry. It also did not have any veggies in it besides onions. The chicken flautas- these were nice and crispy, but again, the chicken was a bit dry and not very flavorful. They were topped with guacamole but it was clearly not homemade, but from a premade package (like Wholly Guacamole or similar) The cheese enchiladas (red sauce)- I enjoyed these- the sauce had a good flavor to it and it was topped with lettuce and sour cream.

I had this breakfast burrito mid afternoon around 3pm so maybe it wasn't a great time to order this because the beans were hard and tortilla wasn't as soft. I was still able to eat it but I want to try to order in the morning and see if it's better. My husband had the surf n turf burrito and he loved it! He thought everything tasted fresh and delicious. The salsa bar has great options to add to enhance the flavors which was a plus. The service was great and everything inside was clean which is why I'll still give them 4 stars overall.

Came here Sunday morning as a part of our quest to find the BEST breakfast burrito in North County. Love Lourdes and have been coming here for years. Super cute and next to the water. They are always super nice and accommodating for my modifications and you can't beat the price! My HUGE burrito came to 10$ even though I added avocado AND bacon. AND they give you free chips AND have a huge salsa bar! The quality of the burrito was great. Large enough to eat one half for different meals. Not greasy either! The tortilla was beautiful. Wasn't homemade but that's okay because it was warm and toasty and perfectly wrapped and not too much extra tortilla Beautiful ratio of ingredients but wish it had a tad more avocado. Sadly, the flavor was a little lacking!! It needed lots of salt and pepper. But with those additions it was great. Lastly, can we talk about the distribution!? It was perfect! Overall solid 8/10 breakfast burrito. Sadly my roommate got the bean egg and cheese burrito and was totally not a fan. Her beans ended up all on one side and all the eggs on the other... :( beans had great flavor though!

Chorizo burrito; perfect to share for breakfast

Hard to call this Mexican food. No love, no passion, no flavor. In a city full of actually good Mexican food, I'll never return.

Why did my CA burrito have tortilla chip crumbles mixed in with the fries? Change your oil. Gross, $15 down the drain.

    R the Beans vegan?

I had the same question and just called the Cardiff location. They said the black beans are vegan (yay!!) but the other beans and the rice are not.

I ordered the mahi mahi fish tacos and a house coffee. The coffee was actually pretty good! Cream and sugar were delivered separately to finish with your preference. As for the tacos, it was okay. The fish was a bit dry for my liking, cabbage could have been chopped with more finesse, and I wished they QC'd their limes a bit before putting them on the plate. Both were bone dry and I had to ask for more. Moreover, the cilantro lime rice was also a bit bland. It needed salt to lift the flavors in my opinion. There weren't even flecks of green if it was supposed to be cilantro? I tried boyfriend's veggie hash but was disappointed to find that it was almost all potatoes. Having said that, it was an extremely generous portion so he was filled up. While I didn't try it, our friend that had the chorizo hash also said it was okay so I'm guessing the ratio wasn't quite right. Anyways, ask for their chili sauce on the side, that's actually quite surprising. It had really good heat and was more like a chili crisp than a vinegary hot sauce. The plates that did score favorably at the table were the carne chilaquiles and the divorced eggs.

Luckily we were given the tip to try El Nopalito which is located just off the northbound Santa Fe Drive exit on the 5. You might want to look at google maps if you don't know the area which is in an older somewhat run down strip mall. Don't let that fool you though, appearances can be deceiving. Indise El Nopalito is clean and fairly large, probably seating around sixty. The kitchen can be viewed from where you order, which I like. We ordered nothing but tacos for starters to see what we liked, they have 21 types of tacos on the menu, so we chose Carnitas, Carne Asada, and El Pastor. Good choices all, freshly made, well seasoned, great toppings and big portions. The two of us were almost full just eating the three tacos. But no, we wanted more, so we ordered the Mole Oaxaca (Red Mole) which was excellent. A very complex taste with cinnamon and chile. Three tacos and the mole finished us. The service was friendly and prompt and I enjoyed sitting there because there was much to see. When we walked in it was a few minutes before noon. We were really surprised because there were about thirty high school students there mostly having sodas and tacos. Within ten minutes they all disappeared to go back to school. The restaurant was almost empty for a few minutes and then many Mexican Landscape Workers came for lunch. At one point there were over twenty people in line and the restaurant was full! This all in the space of fifteen minutes. They did not order tacos, but the daily specials, stews, soups, etc. They were friendly too and there was a great atmosphere. We were impressed by the taste of the food, the great selection, and all we saw. Ignore my other reviews for Mexican restaurants in the Encinitas/Leucadia area, this is our new favorite! We will try to be there about 11:40 again.
