Found this authentic Mediterranean spot on Google and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. The baba ganoush was tasty. I recommend the pick two combo with branzino and beef shish. Try the Turkish coffee and baklava for dessert. One minor inconvenience is that the bathroom is out back and you have to walk outside to get to it. Came here for dinner with a gf. Place is very cute, modern, cozy, and clean. It wasn't busy so the hostess sat us fast. We ordered baba ganush waffle an app - tastes great and loved the toasted pita that came along with it. I ordered the chicken shish kabobs with bulgar - absolutely wonderful and the flavors were fantastic. We had your classic baklava - regular and pistachio flavored. I will start by saying the food was very good. Large portions. Service was very good as well. It's a small cafe, nicely decorated except for the 4 advertising screens prominently placed. But a full star is removed because of the ridiculousness of the bathrooms. We were coming from a road trip and needed to use the rest room. To have to go outside, around the corner of the building, on a freezing cold night, to a door held open by a rat bait canister was not conducive to dining and felt kind of third worldish. The bathroom while somewhat clean had paper towels all over the floor and overflowing out of the containers. I understand it is a tricky location, but they really need to come up with a better solution. read more

While I had high expectations for this place, it turned out to be a failure. Items ordered were: Hummus 1/5. This item was a disaster. Served with scoops! It is not a damn ice cream. It's supposed to be smooth and flowy, but this thing was pasty and unappetizing. Similar to something served from packaged hummus brands like sabra etc. Lamb Doner. 2/5. The meat was way too dry and very salty. No juices were flowing. Perhaps the chef should finish 5 minutes earlier than the intended time. Chicken Adana 2/5. Once again, the chicken kabobs were very dry and I couldn't tell the taste. This sauce that was served doesn't compliment the food at all! The service was actually good. The interior is small but nicely decorated. Ambiance is pleasant. There was some discrepancy with the bill too, but by this time I was just ready to leave. Visited the new location on 18 for the first time last week. The place seems smaller, but more inviting.. immediately seated and received very pleasant service from Nida. Food was served quickly and everything was delicious! We tried their lunch special which includes a starter, half sized entree, and a drink for $17. For our starters, we both ordered the red lentil soup--very hearty, fresh, and with just the right amount of heat. For entree, the stuffed eggplant.. which came with rice, pita, and the most delicious tzatziki sauce I've ever had. Also, ordered a Turkish tea on the side which was very flavorful without being too strong. The kicker was being given a complimentary dessert--kazandibi--which was DIVINE! I would liken it to a cross between rice pudding and flan. So good that I sent my husband back for more later that day! I look forward to returning and giving the rest of the menu a try! read more

Food was delicious! My favorite was the beef kebab, tender and bursting with that grilled flavor. Grilled chicken platter was also excellent. The variety of dips / hummus was really good too. This restaurant relocated from a larger site in the same town. They downsized during the pandemic. Because of the small space, I think they try to pack people into small tables to ensure they can have tables for additional guests just in case others come in. When we arrived, i asked if they could put 2 tables together for our party of 6 and they said no. I got the impression they wanted to put our party of 6 in a table that is designed for 4. However another associate got involved and allowed us to put 2 tables together. Frankly there is no way we could have fit the food we ordered on the table. So I think they have to work with the space they have, and if that means tables are full then other patrons would just have to wait. My advice to them is to seat customers comfortably - they'll have more room to order more food! It would all work out. read more

Okay so Koy has definitely moved locations from where it used to be and I will say I'm not as happy with the new spot. It's fine, it has the basic elements of a Turkish restaurant but because I've been to the original, I gotta say it used to be better. What do I wish was different? Complementary bread! Also the restaurant had no yogurt which is very strange for a Turkish place. But alas, let me talk about the actual meal. My husband and I ordered a meat platter, which was actually quite delicious. Came with rice and bread and some pickled veggies and was actually pretty good. But I gotta say, expensive! The restaurant was fantastic!! Beautiful ambiance, impeccably clean and very friendly staff. Dinnerware and cutlery were of high quality. Drinks are all served in cans and bottles no alcohol options. We ordered the Cold Mixed Platter (small) initially while debating an entree to share. The appetizer came out with a full basket of warm pitas and also a basket of warm Turkish bread, both had a delicious herb seasoning. The bread was my favorite but the pita was excellent also. There was a good portion of each of the dips and vegetables, everything tasted excellent. We were pretty full from the Platter but couldn't leave without trying the Falafel. The Falafel and Hummus plate was just as delicious and came with a tasty green sauce. Getting out bill took longer than usual. This restaurant was everything we hoped for after a long day of driving and exceeded our expectations. The staff were very friendly. The only complaint that I have is that there is no wheelchair ramp to enter so I had to get bumped up one step onto the sidewalk. My husband and I ordered lamb gyro platter, hummus and baklava( delicious) If I could change somethings it would be the slice of lamb, it was too thin. And for the humus I would make it with more chickpeas, more garlic for flavor and kick, squeeze of lemon, less mayonnaise or none and salt and pepper to taste. Will sometimes stop by Koy Grill for a post-workout meal. The food here is really good quality. I either get the chicken shish or the lamb chops. Both taste great! My only issue is that the cost and size of the lamb chops. They're a bit small for the cost. I've had chops at other places that were bigger and lower in cost, but the quality wasn't as good. If the lamb chops could somehow get a littttttle bit more meaty than the cost would be justifiable - for now, I think it's a bit much. Other than that, the baklava here is fantastic! My favorite is the pistachio baklava... so good and fresh! The inside is cozy - not too big, but spacious enough for multiple parties. The atmosphere is relaxing and discreet, nice and welcoming. This is by far the absolute best Mediterranean food I have ever had and I have had a lot...been on the planet a hot minute. ALL the food was fresh including all the sauces. Honestly, they had me at Peri Peri....best world over...no joke. The Verde sauce deserves a mention as well...so delish and the herbs and chilis were soooo fresh!!!! A month ago got my usual, it was off, I assumed the owner was in vacation. The marinade was not done well, thought maybe it was me. It had a Marinade but it was basically just fine recently it didn't have time to set in the flavor. Tried today, the flavor was off again. I was expecting the food to be more or less comparable to other similar restaurants in the area. But felt this one stood out. We ordered the Cold Mixed Appetizer platter. Presentation was beautiful and each appetizer was delicious. For entrees, I would highly recommend the Beef Hunkar Begendi, loved the flavors and thought it was a unique dish. I ordered chicken shish and my partner ordered chicken adana. The waiter suggested we do the mixed chicken platter for two. It was only $2 more. We went for it. They brought out a loaf of bread brushed with olive oil. It was fresh and so good. The presentation of the platter was amazing. Four types of chicken. Grilled tomatoes and hot peppers, pickled onion, pita slices. So much food! And a bowl of white rice. All this for $42! The service was personable. First time ordering from Koy Grill since their move from their original spot in East Brunswick. I had the chicken chops with bulgur rice and it comes with lightly sautéed onions, pickled cabbage and two slices of cucumber and I selected the white and hot sauces. My food was on point! The chicken was nice and hot, well grilled, tender and full of flavor. The bulgur was was delicious and flavorful and the onions were an added delight. The white sauce is the best but came in the smallest container which did not really provide enough for the chicken so luckily I also got their hot sauce. At their original location, they used to have lamb shish kabob on their menu but now they only have beef or chicken breast so a bit disappointed there.
