My sister and I came as walk ins I a Saturday morning. They took us quickly and gave wonderful cuts. My artist was super quick and was also not friendly at all but he gave me an amazing cut so honestly that's all the really matters. My sister also received an amazing cut and her guy was much more meticulously and friendly. My sister has much more hair than me though so that could add to the why. The space is upstairs and very bright! This will be our new go to spots for cuts. read more

I've been coming here for years and it's the only place I will trust with my hair and hair dye. I've dyed my hair many different colors over the past 10 years now with K-Pop hair salon (and even had my original hair stylist move back to Korea :'( ). I've now changed and only use Allen for hair dying and he is the best, especially if you're trying to do anymore more difficult than a basic red / brown (note that I have black Asian fine hair so that's what my review will cover!!). I've dyed my hair pink / purple 4 times with Allen at this point (sometimes a touch up and 2x he's had to deal with me asking to dye my pink hair dark brown / black for work and then pink again a few months later). I've attached pics of some afters that I have from his dye jobs and also what my hair looked like (blonde) a month or so after once the pink had faded out (he suggested pink shampoo which I have finally bought and that keeps the color in longer vs. the purple shampoo I used in the past). A few tips though would be (1) allocate enough time since dying hair diff colors can take a lot of time - it took me 6 hours to dye my hair pink last time I went (2) call a few times to confirm your res. I've shown up before with a reservation and Allen was unreachable (by me / the staff). Before I start, I would like to say my Chinese isn't 100% fluent especially when it comes for specific hair requests but I tried to speak in English and Chinese so this might be a miscommunication on my part or my stylist, my stylist wasn't very fluent in English so I tried my best to explain in Chinese what I wanted but I still showed pictures, I asked for Korean air bangs with face framing and layers (I've already had this haircut prior just over grown to the point I don't have any bangs and my layers js blend in) and 3 inches off my hair and for my hair to be thinned (he said my hair was super thick and would be a hassle to wash). I have to say he did a good job at trimming my dead ends and thinning it , but for $50, my hair came out looking no different, except the bangs, I have super long hair so I measure it and barely any length was cut, my layers still wasn't prominent, and in the reference photo it had curling in layers like towards the face (u/shaped layers?? Idk what they're called) but he curled my hair with a curling iron (blow out) WITOUT HEAT PROTECTANT, he said it would look better but I misunderstood him and it did look good so he is a good stylist/consultant, but I did notify him I wanted my hair to be cut a little shorter like 3 inches and he took it as to trim a little more (legit 0.3 inches), I was scared the layers wouldn't look good shorter (he was already done cutting) and I was in the chair for a while so I just stopped. Payed $45-50 plus a little tip which is more then I usually pay especially since it was practically only a trim + bangs (which he didn't curl/style he said it will naturally just fall in place bc my bangs were separating into a middle part so after it looked super awkward) and when I asked him I can style my layered hair he didn't explain how he just kept saying I look better with my hair curled. Other than the trim, the hair wash lady was really gentle (I had makeup on and she was careful not to get any water on my forehead) and the place and vibe itself is nice except for the fact that there was HAIR LEFT from the last client, they didn't clean it at all, I let them know a day beforehand but it seemed they were rushing with my hair. I do have thick hair, but he kept shaking his head and said it would be a hassle, which a lot of stylists said I had super thick hair before but I felt kind of embarrassed how he said it. Come here if you want a NICE TRIM and STYLING that speaks Chinese but if you're looking for a cheap place this might not be the one for you, but who am I judge prices, I don't know how much haircuts are in New York (lol) read more

I will start with saying my color turned out beautifully exactly how I wanted. The only issue I had was with how long the bleach was kept on my hair. It was on for almost 2 hours and my hair felt incredibly damaged for weeks after. It took me over 200 dollars in repairing hair products to get it to be semi normal again. I know the stylist was busy but I just wish a little more care was put in to how long product sat on my hair. I will say the employees were incredibly sweet. This place is ATROCIOUS. Came here based on the positive reviews on Yelp. I was looking to dye my hair so I called first to ask about the price, then came in person and showed a stylist a picture of the color I wanted. Turns out it was Kenny, the guy everyone on Yelp raves about. He said that with the dyes they had there was no way he could achieve that effect but if I wanted something similar, he could try and it would be $140. $140 for trying?! Are you kidding me? I wanted to give this place and Kenny a shot anyway so I asked him to cut my hair. He had other customers waiting so he said he only had enough time to cut my bangs. Fine. He leads me to a dirty chair...with hair EVERYWHERE on the chair and all over the floor. It was like the area around the seat hadn't been cleaned all day (I came in around 5pm). He never asked me what style I preferred and just started cutting. I had to tell him I wanted it a little shorter and cleaned up so as to not to cover my eyes. After he finished, I was appalled at what I saw. My bangs were jagged, hair was cut at all different lengths- long here, short there, it was like a 5 year old child who was blind folded cut my hair (see picture). Although it was only 5 dollars for the bangs, it was so terrible, they should've paid me money for screwing up my hair so badly. I was so unsatisfied that I asked the girl at the counter to get me another stylist to fix it. The woman straightened it up a bit but it was pretty much hopeless by that point. She told me my only option would be to wait for it to grow out. One of the worse salons in Flushing and if I could give it 0 stars I would- this place is an absolute scam. I'm really not sure how this place got so many positive reviews...it's over priced for no reason, unprofessional and dirty. Overall, I had a really good experience here as the staff were friendly and professional. The staff here were good about making me feel comfortable by offering water and magazines while I waited for the (4 hour) treatment to finish. Leo was my stylist and he gave me a really nice layered cut. It has been two months since my straight perm and my hair still looks and feels good. The treatment is set to last for 9-12 months or until your hair grows out. I definitely recommend coming here for haircuts and the Japanese Straight perm. read more

But I'm so glad I found this place! Joy was very patient and really took time in shaping my nails nicely and doing the base color. He has helped me patient with growing my hair out and keeping up with the care of it. I actually think they are incredibly inexpensive and would recommend, and always do, them to anyone. And I love that they keep your information on file and allow you to rack up points which is essentially money towards your future appointments. The person cutting his hair left him nothing like the haircut my boyfriend asked for... his hair was super short almost bald... we lost count of how many times the guy passed the thinning scissors on the little bit of hair left on his head... and then had the audacity to expect a tip and another friend of mine told me he had a interesting experience with this salon cause either you get almost what you want or not even what you asked for and 3 out of 4 times you don't get what you want despite being very specific about what you want done with your hair.... read more

I went here 4 times before. My last visit was the best. However, this time was the worst. First of all they made me wait 30 minutes when it wasn't even that busy. Then I got switched over to different stylist twice. Finally, this guy cuts my hair so bad. He took under 10 minute to cut my hair when usually for my undercut style takes 30 minutes. You're suppose to cut the back and sides first but he cuts my top first? That's how he messed up. Besides the fact he was rushing, he cut my back all wrong. The middle was so short, then the right side is a little bit longer, then the left side is longer. Completely ruined my hair cut. I regret even tipping him at all. Memories of the past came present when I went to kpop star hair today. I have been doing hair for about 4 years, and before that, I used to come to this salon as a client. After getting into the beauty industry myself and working as a stylist, there was no reason for me to pay out of pocket at another salon for my hair services as I could get whatever I needed to by way of co-workers. Except today. Since I am allergic to shampoo and also incredibly lazy with somewhere to be later, I decided to make an appointment to get my hair blown out instead of doing it myself or begging a coworker for a favor on the busiest day of the week. The salon has changed a whole lot since the last time I've been. The reception desk is on the other side, there's a nail salon in the corner, but everything else is the same and the staff is just as friendly. I was a little nervous as I've found the quality of work that comes out of salons in Flushing are not the same as in Manhattan, but my blowout was solid. After making it clear I wanted a curly blowout with no iron work, I had expected a bs straight with a bend standard "salon blowout" but I got exactly what I asked for- blowdry styling, which a lot of people don't know how to do or can't be bothered. I'm so glad I came back here for this visit, and I'm so glad that the fact that I am in this industry now myself and have higher expectations, my expectations have been exceeded by this gem of a place. Amazing hair salon !!! The owner Kenny gave me the best keratin treatment . I have been getting the Brazilian keratin treatments for 10 years and have always used the same product. When I went in for my appointment i was a little nervous because he uses A brand I never tried . He assured me it's the best on the market and I will be very happy. I washed my hair and it looks fabulous and only took a few minutes Dry He also gave me a great trim . I have been getting so many compliments on my hair I already gave the number out to several people. I have gone to this hair salon before and have not been impressed by the two previous people who cut my boyfriend's hair, it wasn't anything special and never looked like the picture I showed them, HOWEVER! today I went and he got sat with Jiji. Now Jiji was AMAZING! She looked at the picture and said "yea it'd possible" then she began to cut. She paid so much attention to detail. She buzzed first then used scissors to cut some places the buzzer couldn't get, then she styled the hair with a straighter to give it a bouncey wave. And then she used hair spray and hair wax. She just took her time and really cared about how it looked. She did take a while like an hour and 15mins...But I loved the cut so much it didn't matter. So now my boyfriend decided he is only gonna cut his hair with her. read more

Sure enough, my hair is not at all straightened, relaxed or de-frizzed. I don't know what they put in my hair but it was not brazilian keratin treatment. I was scammed out of over $100. This place should be shut down for their bad business practices, poor customer service and lack of any skill in hair styling and treatment. Zero regard for customer satisfaction and results. I called in about the issue and I asked for a refund. I was told to come in so that they could see my hair in person and settle this. The owner, Leo Jin, was incredibly rude and unprofessional. I tried to speak calmly with him but he was argumentative, defensive and he refused to make it up to me in any way. Instead, he encouraged me to sue his business and contact the company that manufactures the treatment. I understand that no refunds are issued but there was no reason for them to ask me to come back to the salon, only to argue with me and harass me. My money was STOLEN by this place. read more

Terrible. I thought I'd switch up my usual stylist and went here for Kenny. I was here for a color and cut, and asked for a shade darker than my current color, which was dark ash brown. My hair ended up coming out two-toned (I HAVE PHOTOGRAPHIC PROOF) with the top being deep dark brown and completely black on the bottom half. When I started getting concerned, first they told me my hair would lighten up when it dried, then told me it'd lighten up when I washed it later. What next? It'll lighten up when I hop on one foot like Rumpelstiltskin? Then Kenny proceeded to tell me it's the color I picked and brought out the book with the dyed hair samples to make it seem like this is what I asked for. I slap my hair next to the swatch and BAM!--it's nowhere near the same color. So now he tells me because I have a few strands of grey hair (hello I'm 31!!) that's why the color needs to be darker and doesn't match. HOW ABOUT ITS BECAUSE YOU SCREWED UP? I let him know that he's the hair stylist, so he should know already that he messed up--I'm not going to sit here and argue about something this obvious. Don't try to shift blame onto the customer please, it just makes me angry. The haircut was fine, but he forgot to cross check. My hair on one side was heavier than the other. Only reason why I'm giving this place two stars is because ultimately it's still a decent cut. My wash with the assistant stylist was rough and painful but that could be caused by the color making my scalp sensitive. Finally at the end, Kenny admitted the bottom half of my hair might be darker than he expected. He vaguely asked me to come back in 15 days without indicating whether it'd be fixed for on the house or not. Either way, I won't be going back. At this point, I can't risk having my hair fall out because he can't mix colors. Someone at the digital perm machine came out looking good, so it might be done well here. Most hair cuts looked decent here--above average but you still need to make sure he's doing a good job as with mine. But I wouldn't recommend anyone, absolutely anyone to get their hair colored here... or expect actual customer service. read more

I got a BKT (Brazilian Keratin) and a haircut here and so far it's good. My stylist took his time doing my hair and I could tell they are real professionals who know what they are doing. I got a chance to see haircuts being done around me, and I noticed how they were so adept with their scissors. I'm very picky about my hair and I get a BKT done at least once a year, and I've been to well-known places, such as Hair Collage in Manhattan and Hair Club IB to get it done. I've also walked out of salons because they couldn't tell me exactly which products they use. They use quality keratin and they put plenty of it on your hair. My stylist took his time to make sure every strand was covered, smoothed, and straightened. Their service was good too as they offered me coffee/tea and made sure I was comfortable. I am extremely pleased with how my japanese hair straightening turned out. I booked my appointment here on Sunday morning, after finding out my original hair salon was closed. I came in at 1:30 and by 4:30 I was a changed woman, well almost. My hair is super silky and the staff was extremely skilled and knowledgable in the field. They didn't burn any of my tips at all! This is rather impressive as the past two times i've gotten jhs, I have always left with semi-burnt hair. If you are looking for a salon to get jhs, I would suggest coming here!
