You can choose either small hotpot or kbbq or both but has to be the same for everyone at the table. We felt like the Szechuan broth isn't spicy and numbing like authentic Szechuan hotpot broth from other hotpot restaurants and the Thai tom yum(?) one isn't that spicy either so could use improvement there. The standard hotpot meat selection all tasted pretty good, however, the beef rib kbbq meat had some tough chewy parts. Could consider using a small skillet for the cheese corn instead of a foil cup. That said the sauce bar is great with lots of options, appetizers, fruits, and desserts. Service was a bit slow given that it wasn't half full when we went. The lady who took my reservation on the phone did have a "I don't wanna work here" attitude so hope things can improve there too. read more

First visit to KPOT Korean BBQ tonight and had a wonderful time! The space was decked out for Halloween which added some color to the space but was amazed at how deep it went and how many tables they had. Our party of 5 took over a larger table in back, each person has a hot pot burner and there were 2 shared grills for Korean BBQ. All I can say is that we ate to exhaustion, the ingredients were all fresh and generous, you can order 5 selections per person in 4 minute intervals, wut wut? A way better option than some other Korean BBQ places I've tried. Service was friendly and our grills were changed out halfway through. Add in the large bar, cocktail menu and reasonable prices and you've got a total winner for AYCE Korean BBQ/hot pot in my book. Let's face it, eating out is not cheap in 2025 but KPOT delivers deliciousness and great value which is a bit rare these days. We went to the Korean BBQ and Hot Pot for lunch on a Friday. We arrived at around 12:30 and were immediately seated. Party of 4. The waitstaff were very friendly and helpful. We used the iPad to choose our broths and other items (we did get the Korean BBQ too). Food was delivered quickly and then -- "let the feasting begin" !!! The sauce and appetizer bar were clean and well stocked. It was so much food !!! I'm not a huge fan of this concept but I went along as a team player. Had we not been with the other couple (who love them some Hot Pot) we would not be eating here. It's just not my jam. Shout out to the staff. They were amazing. read more

First time doing hot pot with the help of a friend who explained the process to us. Yes, it's a bit pricy, but there's a Huge selection of AYE! You're allowed two hours at the table. We decided to do hot and dry pot since it isn't very much to add the later and the meat selection was so tempting. Unfortunately, we found no matter how much oil we sprayed and re-sprayed in the dry pot, and it was a ton, the meat kept sticking, so we'll pass on that next time around since there seems to be no way to regulate the heat. The ordering is easy, ten items at a time per person, and the cooking ingredients come out fast. There's so many cooking broths to choose from and each person gets their own pot up to four per table and they'll refill it too. The dipping sauces are a plenty too with recipes for various concoctions. The staff is really nice, but if it's busy and you don't need anything when they do stop by, when you do need something it may be a little wait. All in all, a good experience. The newest hot pot ~and~ KBBQ spot in Durham was a hit! We opted to get both for $5 extra (so approximately $25 total for lunch). While it's a great value for money, we thought it might be a better experience to focus fully on one at each visit. Also, it did get confusing which items- especially meats- were for KBBQ & which were for hot pot at times; the staff were a bit unclear on this as well but hopefully it will get better with time. I got the Szechuan broth, which I didn't find particularly spicy, but it was tasty. They have a wide variety of broths and food items (beef, pork, seafood, veggies, noodles, etc) to grill/put in the hot pot. They also have a large sauce station (although I wish they had pre-made sauces) in addition to banchan (seaweed salad, cabbage & cucumber kimchi, radish) and fried appetizers (spring rolls, chicken nuggets, fries, etc- we resisted the temptation haha). Their dessert options are limited- they do have a bunch of fruits + vanilla/coconut cake, which was kinda mid. 4 of us went for lunch on a Friday, and there was no wait. The ambiance is sleek & new. Service was fast & attentive; they took the time to explain how everything worked, which was great. Plenty of free parking available. 9/10 would recommend! read more

I had been waiting for the Durham location of KPOT to open so you bet I was there the first day they were open (I'm pretty sure anyways)! Since I've been to the Raleigh location (and lots of AYCE KBBQ / hot pot places in general), I knew what to expect. The server made sure we "understood" the rules for all-you-can-eat which I appreciated since many people might not be familiar. We opted to do KBBQ only since I (and the group I went with) prefer to do only KBBQ or hot pot at once (not enough real estate to enjoy both comfortably/safely imo). While they don't have a lot of fancy/extra options like steamed eggs, we enjoyed the quality of their pork and beef as well as the shrimp. The restaurant is quite big, much bigger than I anticipated from the outside since the layout of the restaurant is quite deep. I'm not the biggest fan of the blue neon lights everywhere but I appreciated that it was not too loud so you could actually have a conversation with people at your table. "Hot Pot and Korean BBQ at every table, in WalMart shopping center in Durham" My family loves both hot pot and Korean BBQ, so this was a wonderful opportunity. It's a chain my son had tried before in other cities, too, so he knew it'd be good. As you come in, you specify if you want just one or both, and you get a seat. The restaurant is barely noticeable from the parking lot, but it's a long, thin place, so it's much more spacious than you might imagine. Every spot at each table has its own small hotpot, so you can use a different broth from your dining mates. I went with the mushroom broth, and it was so delicious I ended up drinking a lot of it like a soup after my meal was done. They do top it off a bit if you ask, too. And this place is all-you-can-eat. There are cocktails (and mocktails) for an extra charge. And you do have to leave within 2 hours. You order at the table the items you'd like to cook either in the central BBQ or in your individual hotpots. You can only order 15 items at a time, which is not very much since the portion sizes are pretty small, but you can keep ordering more as you go. And that's good in the long-run since there's a surcharge on any unconsumed food. There's also a bar where you can mix up your own dipping sauces, and a recipe set to help guide if you'd like. I made a sesame-based sip that was DELICIOUS. There are also a few small desserts at the bar (yay sesame balls!), along with a few veggies (and kimchi). I mostly went with seafood-- shumai, (fake) crab, shrimp dumplings, lobster rolls, and a bunch of veggies like broccoli and spinach. The lobster rolls were a bit meh, but the rest were DELICIOUS. I was amazed how good the fake crab was after cooking, and the shumai was outstanding. My son went with lots of beef and lamb options. There was one beef option in a sort-of red sauce that I don't know the name of, but he gave me a bite and WOW that was amazing... a bit of heat but tolerable yet incredible flavor. Service was attentive-- our waters stayed full, and dirty plates were taken away ROCKET-fast. He even replaced our BBQ cooking service once to clean it out. Restroom was clean, too. I loved this place. I will say it's not a cheap dinner, though-- we paid $140 after tax and tip for 3 people. But it is AYCE, and the quality was tops, so I suspect I'll be back. read more

We were excited to try the new Kpot in the Triangle--AYCE Korean BBQ and hotpot? Yes, please. Our friend had been counting down the days until it opened so we could go as soon as possible. The food itself lived up to the hype: the snack/salad bar was well stocked, the meats came out quickly, and the overall quality was solid. The space was well-lit, clean, and spacious--typical of other Kpot locations. Unfortunately, the service made it hard to fully enjoy the experience. We arrived at 6:30 and were told there would be a 20-minute wait. Totally fine. We got the text message saying our table was ready about 30 mins later. Totally fine. But then we were told to wait even though we received the text message. We got multiple rounds of "we're cleaning the table" followed by "we are not sure we actually have a table". More waiting. We didn't get seated until 7:20. Once seated, our server was friendly but forgot to light the grill. We asked for oil, but it never came, so we ended up buttering the grill ourselves out of hunger. We didn't actually get meat on the grill until close to 8:00. Food did arrive promptly once ordered, and we were settling into a rhythm and starting to enjoy ourselves. Then, a staff member (not our server) came over and abruptly told us we were out of time. This was confusing, since the iPad on our table, which shows a live countdown, said we were only 84 minutes into our 2-hour limit. Throughout the entire time, we were only checked on once, and the second interaction was this sudden "warning." The whole experience felt disjointed, frustrating, and oddly painful. We genuinely wanted to love this place. I am giving it 2 stars because Kpot is a reputable chain and the food does show a lot of potential. But the whole point of choosing AYCE is to enjoy a certain kind of experience (coming in hungry, trying different things, and hanging out with friends without feeling rushed). With service this rocky, that expectation wasn't met. If I were simply looking for good food, there are other great options nearby (e.g., Sichuan Mansion for hotpot, Buldaegi for K-BBQ). Hopefully they smooth things out over time, and maybe then we'd come back for the AYCE hotpot experience we were hoping for. read more

Absolutely ridiculous. Their hours clearly say they're open until 10:30 PM, yet when we showed up at 9:45, we were told they wouldn't serve us because "the kitchen closes at 10." Then what's the point of saying you're open until 10:30? That's flat-out false advertising. It's not even listed anywhere on their website that the kitchen closes early. We drove out expecting to eat -- 45 minutes before closing -- only to be turned away by staff who clearly couldn't care less. If you don't want to serve customers that late, change your posted hours. Don't mislead people and waste their time. Completely unprofessional and lazy way to run a business. read more

Came in tonight around 6pm with a party of 14, the service is atrocious. In the 1.5 hours of us being here, our plate has been changed 1 time and drinks refilled 1 time. Server is too concerned with hanging out with other employees and sitting in the back. He wasn't wearing a name tag so I'm not sure what his name is but honestly, we must have asked 3-4 people to change our plate and no one would. The wait list time of 15:00 minutes for a party of two on a Saturday evening. There are plenty of tables for parties of four or more. The wait time for k-pot and k-bbq from ordering to receiving was less than 5:00 minutes. Bar was clean and extensive for dip Sauce mix-in, kimchi, appetizer and desserts. Would recommend the following: Removal of MSG and artificial flavor enhancers from sauces, meat marinades, appetizers and soup broths. With the understanding there natural umami in the sauces (soy sauce). When doing or should do a buying of replacements for the worn grills as the cooking surface having scratched non-stick coating on the grill covers used for cooking k-bbq. Replace grills with grills having only a "stainless steel cooking surface". The meal was not appealing when cooking meat over a scratched non-stick surface with exposed metal which indicates that forever chemical(s) are being cooked into the meats and vegetables. Received four grill swaps during the k-bbq meal and each grill was scratched with large sections exposed to the metal surface. read more

We tried both for the experience and it was definitely worth it to get the hot pot, but mainly because the kbbq itself wasn't cooking fast enough for 5 people. Total truth, here is my experience. I called before I drove an hour to the new Durham site. The young man told me they would have plenty of room. There were just 2 in my party and the young man said no problem. When you get here we will have plenty of tables for you. So! When I got there my wife and I walked in and the young lady tells me it's a 45 minute wait. So, I asked to speak to the man I spoke with on the phone. I explained who I was and he remembered our conversation. However, despite what he told me. It was still going to be a 45 minute wait. I will not be back. The four stars are for the food, not the experience. We arrived as the doors opened and were promptly seated in the back. After fifteen minutes we were asked to switch to another table. By 12:25 we still had no drinks and no food, while people all around us were already eating. We about to get up and leave when our waitress arrived with many apologies. She did not turn on the grill so when our food finally arrived, the grill was still cold. We were never told we could get oil instead of butter. Unlike some other hotpot places, the grill insert was never changed during our lunch and got pretty sticky. We also kept getting random items we hadn't ordered--one large platter was obviously for diners having the hotpot experience. I loved the cold appetizers (kimchee and seaweed salad for instance); other than the fried dumplings, I didn't think much of the other hot offerings. Fun choice of sauces. Price point was very reasonable. The only two items I wouldn't order again are the chicken and the large shrimp. The shrimp were way too hard to cook and deshell and I didn't like the flavor. Everything else we ordered was very good, some items stellar. We are definitely going to make a return visit for the hot pot. So be patient-- more training is needed but it is early days. read more

Food was good, service was chaotic. We had a group of 9 for a friend's birthday. Food was brought out with no information, just placed on the table. Since much of the meat looks the same it was difficult to tell what was what. Items were combined on one plate, so the lamb I ordered might have been put on a big plate at the far end of the table, and I had no idea where it was because it looked the same as the other items. I think this would be great for one or two people to eat together and be able to tell what the items are, but without labeling the plates, I wouldn't come back with this many. read more

ok, being 1.5 Korean I wasn't impressed in the slightest bit, just impressed at how unimpressive not Korean this all was. for the record, the reason you don't see fake ass Korean food joints pop up everywhere is because its a fresh, distinct cuisine and Korean's don't patronize phony Mc'Korean establishments like this one. it commands respect not embarrassment or shame. 1st: the service was terrible. you have to think here you're bringing raw meat to get cooked (on weak I might add), and delays in bringing raw meat adds to the delay in having to actually cook it. its supposed to be SUPER FAST in delivery. thanks, we had to pay to starve. never patronize a Korean establishment run by non-Koreans they just don't know any better (and never will). there are subtle nuances to be maintained and you miss that, you fail. 2nd ding: the kimchi was NASTY. as in WTF is this?! sweet kimchi!? that's an embarrassment right there, stop please stop disgracing Korean cuisine with this sub par fake kimchi. second: portion size. the kogi dishes were anemic and laughable. my aunt, and several of my party were STARVING and just eating appetizers from the app buffet. this too is an embarrassment for Korean cuisine. avoid this place like the plague. if you want legit Korean food, go to Hmart in Cary or Minga in Chapel Hill. read more

Arrived at 9:25pm and was told "you're not going to get the full experience and you have 1 hour to eat and then you must leave because we close at 10:30." It was our first AND last visit for sure. The server was polite but made it very clear to put our order in on the tablet asap because the kitchen closes at 10. So we did. Meats came out very quickly but the exhaust fan was not turned on our grill was set too low and so all items took an extremely long time to cook. And it was created lots of smoke at our table since the exhaust fan was not on. The meats came out with no tongs or way to take it on and off the grill. Also, our drink orders were not correct. We placed an order for additional meats at 9:50 and at 10:05 asked the server for an update and was told that the kitchen was closed and when we attempted to show from the tablet that the order was placed prior to the 10pm cutoff time, someone from the kitchen took the tablet away. Also the sauce bar and salad bar was dismantled around 9:45 so we weren't able to even check it out. This could be a nice spot, but lots of changes need to happen and likely starting with getting rid of the inconsiderate staff who absolutely don't care about the business. The cost for our meal was around $175 for four people so I expect better for less than one hour of a meal! read more

I'm pretty familiar with ayce Korean bbq having been to several across the country, including the Kpot in Raleigh. I was excited to try this one in my city. This one was just ok, and overall I left with the impression that they are trying to cut corners with quality and service to increase their profit margin. First of all, as others have pointed out, service is not great. We were not well attended to but it was ok. My biggest gripe is the food quality. Meat quality was below all the other bbqs I have been to. They brought shrimp out completely frozen and in a clump! Pork belly came out looking brownish like it was about to go bad, and the taste of the marinades (when meat was marinaded) was a bit off. Finally, while at the Raleigh Kpot location they provide butter for the grill, this location had spray oil, an obvious cost cutting move. For the price ($32 pp+ obligatory tip) it wasn't what I was hoping for. Next time I want Korean bbq, I'll opt to drive to the Raleigh location. read more

For as expensive as this place is, the service was pretty much non-existent after the initial seating. It was our first time, and no one could explain how it worked in a succinct way. It was more "however long you want" when we asked how long things needed to cook in the hot pot. They started clearing the sauce bar before 10pm, while we were still eating. The rest of the staff carried on laughing and being as loud as if we weren't still there. When a restaurant closes at 10:30, that doesn't mean that's when the doors lock and everyone leaves. That's when they should start taking down the sauce bar if customers are still eating. I would have ordered more at 10, but it didn't feel like it was an option. Sorry to be such a burden to the inexperienced staff. There didn't seem to be a manager on site, though we didn't ask. The chairs were already up on the bar at 9pm. For $36 per person plus add-ons, to be rushed out like we were holding them up was really insulting. Super disappointed. We will never return. If I could give it zero stars I would. read more
