Pork belly taco and steak taco

The food here was awesome. Portion sizes left us all full and happy. LOVE the fusion of it all. Honestly can't go wrong with anything on the menu it seems! There's indoor and outdoor seating, you scan a QR code and order that way and then they'll bring it out to you. It's nice to go with a group bc you can split the order payment super easily. They also come and bring water over. Trendy kinda place, just super unique

Found this gem and have already been back a few times. The sandwiches are incredible n the crispy shrimp tacos are amazing.Great indoor and outdoor seating. Highly recommend visiting dis place

Okay, so Yelp states this restaurant is dog friendly. That isn't the case. The restaurant and patio do not allow any dogs, so they send you about 2 football fields away to a pine area and picnic table. They will bring your drinks and food to you, but on our occasion, we had to go pick up our food. The food is great, but don't come here expecting it to be dog friendly. I'll update the restaurant to dogs not allowed as technically, they aren't. Great food though.

Such unique menu items, I'll always recommend this place! Baht Mi was very good, and so were the Karikari Brussel Sprouts. I just wish there was more crunchy rice and way less ounces of oil.

Super cute patio! We ended up having to move inside because of rain, but the patio was nice and big and a really cute spot. All of the staff were incredibly kind. They greeted us right away and checked on us often. The burnt end pork nachos were amazing. The meat was so tender. The large was enough for two people. The queso has a little bit of a kick to it.

This was an unusual place, with a very casual vibe, no table service and ordering by phone, but some interesting food and a ton of beverage options. I eschewed the beverages but greatly enjoyed the option to get some peanut-crusted tofu with fresh vegetables for my lettuce wraps. Ordering fries turned out not to be the greatest decision; the oil seemed to have a bit of an off taste and the seaweed-heavy coating didn't work for me. Overall, they had some interesting vegetarian options in a vaguely Korean fusion vein. The person a table over was having a long dialogue about gluten-free options so I assume this place is used to special dietary needs.

Came here wanting to enjoy some outdoor seating. This place has a really nice outdoor patio nestled against the woods, with nice ambient lighting it really sets the mood for a relaxing time. The ordering is virtually all done thru their online ordering process. The food itself was outstanding. The bowls are a decent size and you leave feeling full. If you can take 'heat' their house sauce will take your dish up a notch, but mind you the sauce is hot. This place is a keeper, we'll be back.

I feel that fusion food is hard to get right, but Kokyu does it justice. You do have to be a bit careful with what you order, because not all the dishes deliver to the same degree. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, which were a tad sweet, but still glorious. The beer-battered fries were a total winner. The pork belly tacos were pretty average. They used to be only a takeout place, but now they've expanded with indoor and patio seating. I absolutely adore their range of drinks -- non-alcoholic, and alcoholic -- with some interesting local and international choices. Service is fast, and they come around multiple times to check in on you. The vibe is low-key and casual.

KoKyu is a cute Asian fusion restaurant hidden behind Southpoint Mall. I enjoyed their bulgogi banh mi and pork bowl last week. For the banh mi: I thought the beef was excellent and the toppings fresh. I especially enjoyed the large amount of cilantro and the side of daikon. The flavors were well balanced and the bread crispy. For the pork bowl: I thought that although each ingredient tasted fresh, they didn't pair well together. For example, the rice and spinach were hot and flavorful but the pickled bean sprouts and kimchi were cold and sour. The contrasts between each ingredient were stark. I thought that the pork was well marinated as well but the flavors as a whole could have meshed better together. Overall, I liked the location, ambiance, and service. I'll probably be back for another fusion banh mi.

Found this place on a Reddit feed for best of Durham. It did not disappoint. Outdoor seating was nice. Friendly service. Delicious food. Even the water was good.

KoKyu has been on my list to try for a while, and I finally got the chance to do so! They're known for their sandwiches so I got the Baht Mi. It was packed full with tender and flavorful short rib + so many refreshing veggies and was absolutely delicious. My friends and I also got fries to share, but this was pretty disappointing: it was a terrible portion size (seen in the photo) for $8. Ambiance is really nice with both indoor and outdoor seating. Service is fast, you order via QR code. Lots of free parking in the lot up front. 7.5/10 would recommend overall, 10/10 just for the sandwich!

Having been huge fans of North Carolina style BBQ, we were not disappointed. My wife and daughter enjoyed the Pork Plate. By for me, I went with the two meat combo with Pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was spot on. It was perfectly smoked and almost melted in my mouth. With a touch of spicy vinegar sauce, I was gone to Carolina in my mind for the rest of the day. The brisket might have been some of the best I've ever had. It had a nice fat layer and was also "melt in your mouth" and juicy. The brisket didn't need any sauce at all. It was that good. The hushpuppies were the star at the table. My family considers themselves to be connoisseurs of hush puppies, and these were ranked in the top five. A respectable ranking from such a discriminating hushpuppy panel. The sides we sampled included collard greens, mac and cheese and BBQ beans. The collards and Mac and cheese were out of this world. I should have ordered a double serving of the collards. However, the beans were a huge disappointment. They were more like a bowl of sub-par chili than BBQ beans. If we return, they will not be selected. A great BBQ spot when you are in Durham. Highly recommend you stop by, if only to taste the brisket!

There is plenty of parking on the backside of the building, paid parking out front, and be careful not to park in the apartment spaces on the side...they sounded pretty serious about towing. I had made a reservation but it was probably unnecessary as it was pretty empty when we arrived (it was about 5pm on a Saturday.) The waitress brought a bottle of water to the table and took our drink order. And I know that this place is literally call it's a Southern thing but can I mention how much I dislike drinking out of mason jars? I ordered the chicken n biscuits, my husband got the country hamburger steak plate, my BiL got wings, and my SiL got the crabcakes. We also orders charred jalapeno & sweet corn hushpuppies and frickles as an appetizer. I was VERY excited about my food. Y'all...the only thing that impressed me were the Frickles. Everything else was distinctly underwhelming. I also ordered Blackberry Betta Have My Money which was not that great. My SiL ordered a espresso martini that they said didn't come from a mix but she said it tasted like it was. The bathrooms were very clean. The decor and the vibe were great. Cute even. I really enjoyed that part of it. After dropping off our food, we never saw our waitress again unless we flagged her down for drink refills. It was especially frustrating since there was automatic gratuity added. And since the place wasn't that busy, it felt like she didn't feel the need to earn her automatic tip. Overall I was disappointed in my birthday dinner. I won't be coming back here.

We finally had time to order the Dampf Feast. OMG, This puts bbq I've had in the motherland of bbq, Texas, in second place! Dampf has earned that Michelin star. The beef rib is lean yet tender and flavorful. Melt in your mouth but without the squishy fat in between the meat. It was cooked and rendered to perfection. The rub is delicious. The pork ribs are my new favorite! IF I could somehow marry them with the (and don't hate me for saying this) P.F.Changs Korean BBQ rib sauce, I'd never eat anything else ever again. The pork ribs had a ever so slightly sweet and tangy rub on them. Very tender, hardly any fat so again, a perfect cook and render. The brisket was a tad salty for my preference but oh my, it was cooked to utter perfection. It was melt in your mouth moist and so flavorful. The turkey was very flavorful and will make for excellent sandwiches tomorrow. It was moist, which for turkey, is a testament to their skill. I didn't try the sausages as it's not my thing, our kids loved them. Lastly the pulled pork was the absolute best I've ever had. Period and hands down. Lean, moist and just enough sauce to give flavor. The bbq baked beans were oh so yummy and with a little kick! The fire roasted veggies were done to perfection. Roasted and cooked yet crispy and packed with flavor. I got two and even the kids went back for more! I can say this, Dampf has earned every bit of that Michelin star. Sorry, no pics. There wasn't any time. The whole drive home I was tormented by the aromas wafting in from the trunk. The camera wasn't even a thought. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Original Post: I'm leaving this review purely based on one interaction and the complete and utter lack of respect or appreciation for the people who decide to support their business. We like Texas bbq. So much so that we order regularly from Terry Black's Barbecue in Texas so when someone on Next Door suggested dampf, we decided to try it. Initially we drove past it because it's a very non descript location but it looked promising being on the property of a farm. They serve out of a food truck so the line forms outside, not a big deal but this day was rather chilly, still, for Texas styled ribs, it's worth the cold. Because we have experience with a Texas styled ribs restaurant (brick and mortar) in PA that would often sell out, we checked the menu for anything crossed out. We checked for any notices indicating items unavailable. There were no such notices and nothing on the menu was crossed out. We got in line and waited. Ten minutes, then twenty and the line barely moved and most of that was due to patrons ahead of us in the line deciding to leave. After an hour, it just over that, someone came and advised that they've been sold out of beef ribs, pork ribs and brisket for 2 hours. Wow. Way to show respect for our time. Why not cross out those menu items? Even after that announcement, they didn't update their menu. I just don't think I can hand over my money to a business that doesn't respect my time or business. EDIT: I received a reply from Dampf and appreciate the courtesy of that reply. We will give them a try, perhaps using the online ordering to be certain we don't show up when something has been sold out.
