We purchased a new home in California and the security system came with the home. What we regret was signing a 3 year contract with KPS. Since the start, nothing but problems with their equipment. We also have a $2.00 monthly paper invoice bill, eventhough we pay it through my bank's bill-pay, they still keep charging me the paperbilling. I was told that the only way to avoid the charge is to do auto-payment through their own site. Something that I do not feel comfortable because of identity theft, I rather pay it from my own bank. Not sure why not stop the charges. Recommended by KB HOMES. KPS will NOT keep you or your home safe. Main problems in short? Not possible. Our inner garage door was not wired properly and we received mixed replies from KPS whether this was preventing the system from arming. When finally speaking to a tech it went like this "Let me see. Oh yeah, we did get a signal from the garage door. Nope, your alarm isn't on. I'll send a signal". Eventually we just hoped for the best... from our security company! Uh oh. The first person you speak to, Janet, professes not to have access to account information (service, model, device) or whether alarms are activated. It is baffling why they give responsibility to someone with a lack of company or product knowledge. She didn't pretend to care or stay with it until someone was found to help us. Yet, everyone, from sales to techs insist she's the go to person. She is unfriendly, bad mannered, answering questions with questions, like "Don't you know?" and referring to the resident as "That N_ _ Guy". Nice! Months after paying and having system installed, it was determined that KPS never registered the system. We found this out when alarm went off on a weekend and nobody was home. When they called to verify we found out we needed a separate password from the keypad code. As a result they refused to send a car. The following Monday I called and was informed our system was never registered by KPS, subsequently we didn't receive a password/code. The sales people (numerous) were always apologetic on the phone, promising to handle problems, insisting they value KB HOMES' business and didn't want anything to reflect badly on them. Then stopped taking calls, rarely called back and never contacted anyone to solve the problem. When I tracked them down guess what the response was? "Call Janet". We actually started using another company (D&S) for Security. But we are stuck with a 3 year contract, so decided to continue using KPS for the Fire Alarm. They sent a certificate to confirm Fire Service for our Insurance Company. Well ! We just found out they aren't monitoring us for FIRE. This is criminal. They refuse to cancel our service unless we pay $695. Crooks. Their hours are bad and after-hours dispatch is LAZY. I like KB HOMES, but this recommendation is a colossal fail. KBH's only reply? "Sorry you're having problems. I'll notify someone." Basically, "Piss off." We've heard nothing. read more

Like many other reviewers, we signed up with them because we bought a new constructed home from KB Homes. We were 1st time home buyers and we didn't know any better at the time. From the beginning, it was a nightmare. Instead of writing out everything, I'll just list out everything that went wrong or was suspicious: - contracts have 36 months printed on them, but the sales rep at the KB homes sales office says it should actually be 60-months and made us sign to the 60-month term. - initial installation was done half-assed. system didn't work after the tech left, needed to call them back. - their monitoring service doesn't monitor anything. a couple times during the first year of service, my in-laws have come visited, tripped the alarm and just let it go for more than 20 mins. we got zero calls from their monitoring service and never seen any police response. - they do not send or provide any statements or invoices for the monthly billings. - they do not have a customer portal where a customer can log into review the monthly charges or to change a credit card on file. - when we asked for invoices or statements or a portal, the reply we got was "we don't provide any of that". - basically, they take your money every month with no proof, just a "trust us bro". - a response from their customer service takes days, if not weeks, to get a response from. When we tried to cancel, it took 3 weeks and 3 emails to get a response. They then say they require a 30 day written cancellation notice. NOWHERE in the contract that was SIGNED BY BOTH PARTIES does it say we need to give a 30-day notice of cancellation. Completely UNPROFESSIONAL and UNETHICAL business practice!!! All so they can get just 1 or 2 more payments out of another unhappy customer that's leaving. read more

Review of KPS Alarms: My home's security system was installed and occasionally upgraded by C&R Systems -- the previous owners of what is now called KPS Alarms. Recently I was having some false alarms from sensors at two of the alarm system's stations, so I phoned KPS Alarms for help, like I did with the previous company (C&R) for the past 20 years. This time, however, they did not try to troubleshoot the problem over the phone. Instead, they set up an expensive service call for about two weeks away. Today was the day of the appointment. It turned out that the only problem was that a few small, common, household batteries (which I had at home) needed to be replaced in the wireless sensors. I could have easily done that myself and saved the nearly $200 for the service call. The service technician (Eddie, a former employee of C&R Security, and who worked on my system at that time) was great -- which is why I gave this a five-star rating, but I wish that KPS Alarms had suggested that I try replacing the batteries in the wireless sensors when I first called. Unfortunately, this is not my the same level of support that I had enjoyed for the past 20 years. read more

We just purchased a brand new home in Granite Ridge and KPS is their recommended vendor for all of the low voltage products and since I work in IT professionally, we probably installed more items then most people. Carl is a great salesman and can probably sale a used car to a used car dealership and leave with a profit - Albert is a great technician and completed our install in no time at all and every time that I speak with Janet, she offers a solution that meets my needs. There has been a few challenges and hiccups that needed to be addressed and modified and all of the team members have stepped up to the plate to ensure that KPS shines bright. I wish zero stars was an option here. We had an alarm and music system put in by KPS when we purchased our KB home in November. KPS touts their great customer service but they provide exactly the opposite. 1) When we signed up, we were promised a wireless keypad for our master bedroom. They now tell us, "that's what your phone is for." 2) I can't get a call back to help setup my iPhone. Today, I've been on hold for almost 90 minutes, still waiting for someone to pick up even though the recording repeatedly says that I am next in line. This company is terrible and of absolutely no help. Shame on KB Homes for contracting them. read more

The service hasn't worked for over a year and they have done NOTHING - isn't it illegal for them to charge me with a service that is not even being provided? At this point Im seeking reimbursement and cancellation from the past year. This is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous. I will make sure KB Homes is aware as well, so they hopefully no longer support KPS as a vendor given this awful experience. Should this not be resolved ASAP I will have no choice but to take legal action. Over a month ago: SO UPSET! Such horrible service! I have been with them for 2 years now, and the system started acting up a year ago and randomly goes off ALL the time in the middle of the night... like ALL the time. Jose Martinez was our installer. This review is specifically about Jose and his install / troubleshooting. Jose was very professional, kind and understanding. He knew what he was doing and was great at explaining it. He was respectful of our house and family. it should be noted that the kps alarms do not work on mesh networks. Even when you disable 5G temporarily to allow for connection. It still did not connect. Jose had to come back out because I removed the Frontier modem and switched to mesh, resulting in the KPS system not connecting. I ended up having to re-setup the Frontier network as a dedicated 2.4ghz network specifically to run the KPS system. While I was doing that, Jose was patient and understanding. The sales rep at the KB Homes Design Studio was nice and sounded convincing and knowledgeable. However, it all went downhill from there. 1) Quick and easy installation? Nope! It took months and several back-and-forth with customer service before our system finally got installed. And even now, 1 year and 5 months later, we still have a weird error message that we can never seem to get rid of. They insist that it's going to "fix itself", but guess what? It's still there. 2) Customer service? Non-existent! You get nowhere talking to them. We had to resort to dealing directly with the installers to get the initial installation, and as mentioned above, weird error message is never going to get resolved. We were first-time home buyers and didn't know any better. Don't make the same mistake that we did. read more

I waited for the installation person to come till the end of the day. Finally I got a phone call from the installation person saying that he had some issues in delivery of the products and he had to cancel today's installation. What?! You don't make sure you have the products before making an appointment with your customers? You told me the products have been delivered in the phone but now they suddenly become not delivered? Uneducated installtion men. 2-3 Days minimum for any work small or big. Most Rep are at least 80 yrs old, which make the application process hell. NO CALLS AFTER FIRE/BURGLAR ALARM -Also do they apologize when i tell them, they say no WE HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT WE OUTSOURCE TO ANOTHER COMPANY. Brand new builder KB homes have us at the outset to set up an alarm system, video camera system and a multimedia system while the brand new homes were being constructed. I have to say, they are very difficult to work with. The person who sold all the items, multimedia system had them INCORRECTLY, designated on their design. That representative was eventually fired. However, damage was done and they had to open up the dry wall and get it FIX. Since the problem resolved. I said it happens let it go! The camera installations angle were also incorrectly installed and the company refused to correct their mistakes! Again! I said let it go! Now I have a three year contract with them and the video camera which I'm paying monthly for, goes off the grid and stops working weeks on end! The level of incompetence is horrendous! Filing a complaint with the BBB. I talk to the technician and the employees and they say, the supervisor left the company! That response was 2 weeks ago! This is a brand new house and development! There shouldn't this many problems! I call and ask at various random times, when the video cameras used to be working if I could go back replay recordings from previous days. Their response? The person who can answer your question is not here, please call back. I call several more times, the guy keeps saying I don't know! This is very very aggravating! read more
