Do not go with this security company. We went with them because we trusted our home builder KB home who partners with KPS, big mistake. We have been in our home for almost a month and still haven't heard from KPS re: our security system. We want to cancel the bogus contract we have with this scam of a company. We had to chase them down just to get a response to hear what's going on with our security system/installation...we still have not. We spoke with one person after our builder's customer service reached out to KPS and the person told us they would look into our case. It's been over 2 weeks and we haven't heard back. We don't have the security system and got xfinity who came to our house within a couple days of us calling them. We don't want to work with this company and would never suggest them to anyone else. This has been such a headache and we hope they do the right thing by cancelling our security contract that THEY NEVER INSTALLED. read more

Unfortunately we have had nothing but issues with our doorbell camera since we have gotten it. It fails to detect motion correctly (sometimes not at all) when packages are left on our porch or when we receive DoorDash, etc. We have have multiple service calls and even purchased a WiFi extender as recommended although everything else in our home on WiFi works just fine. We are completely unsatisfied and feel unsafe!! When we called to cancel so we can go with another company we were told to send an email and so far we have not heard back. Why do we need to email to cancel? Why can't we speak to someone especially after all we have endured with this horrible product for months?? We have been getting the run around for over a week and still not able to cancel. Now we were charged another month! Completely disappointed and dissatisfied!!! I regret that I trusted the company my builder was using and didn't research thoroughly. I regret trusting the information on their website regarding quality and clarity...FALSE!!! I manage several homeowner associations, for one of these, we received a bid from KPS and awarded them the contract. It went downhill from here. After receiving the documents from them, each separately instead of all together as one account, having them signed and sent back we were left in the dark. I had sent these documents over and received a thank you email. During a yearly, routine inspection of the backflow systems, I advised them with over a week's notice to have the alarm systems set to monitoring mode. My email was forwarded a few times before it finally landed with Janet, but I got no response from her. On the day of the inspection, our vendor for the backflow testing arrived early and asked if we could reschedule the testing so he could get started right away. KPS told me to provide them account numbers and building numbers that were not listed on the signed proposals given to me and the document with the pertinent information was never forwarded to my company. I was told by Janet during my call to reschedule, that nothing was even scheduled in the first place. Please only use KPS if you are a mind reader capable of providing information you may not have. Terrible customer service. Janet seemed irritated by my calls and was happy to hang up quickly as soon as I said good bye. This makes me miss working with Comcast. read more

KPS buyer beware! We love our KB Home and our community, but the service and support by KPS has been absolutely terrible, to say the least! We utilized them at the Design Center for WiFi, surround sound and home security. We have had issues with both the poor WiFi equipment and the 1 security camera we added to the system. This problem has been going on for more than 1 year. The technician was not able to get the camera to work from the time of installation. With multiple days of attempts, a replacement and even a manager coming out to try and make it work. This would have not so bad, but it has been the fight with KPS that has driven me to write this review. We got such a run-around we wanted to stop our service contract, but was told despite the horrible service we received, we would have to buy out of our contract. I had to contact a KB customer service manager to try and get someone from KPS to help us out. I was contacted by David Old, KPS Area Manager??? He promised me that KPS appreciates my business and that he would make things right for us. I wrote him a follow up email recapping my issues and what he committed to do to resolve them for us. Well I never heard back from him! December 1st will be 1 year since I sent him the email with no response. Apparently all his sincerity was fake! I followed up many time never to hear from him. I added Carl Daniels, KPS Marketing Manager into the email string and he replied. He told me to just contact Janet in Customer Service. I asked if David Old still worked for KPS and if his email address i was using was correct. He told me yes and yes, but just contact Janet. Still no response from David Old. No customer should be subject to this type of horrible support and service from a customer you contact with. KPS does not measure up to KB's standards and should not be in a partnership!! New issue, we had a theft in front of our house and no surprise our camera did not record the event. Called KPS for help and have not heard back from them! read more

Have had KPS as our Alarm company since Kirk bought the company from Dave. They have always been very helpful with whatever issues we had, luckily, it had only been a few. Mike, the technician that came today was very professional, loved it when he came with booties for his shoes (we take our shoes off inside the house)!! I am glad our system is now back on track, didn't even know it was off since we switched to Spectrum! Definitely recommend KPS for your alarm service!! read more

I signed up with KPS because we built a home with KB. Worst decision ever! The sales rep (Ravneet Kaur) told us to call her a couple of weeks before closing so we could add cameras because they run specials. We called & sent her emails from May to end of July (closing was June 18th). She never responded. We called customer service to see if we could set up a time to just add them and they told us we had to go through the rep. Needless to say its December and we still haven't heard from her. They want to charge you a $2 fee for paper billing even when you request electronic billing. As a security company, or any company this day and age, you should be able to electronically bill customers without them signing up for auto-pay. Do NOT go with them. The Vivint rep offered to install cameras, door & window sensors along with garage door access & keypad locks for $5 more than we are paying KPS and they will pay out the contract. And he could get it scheduled as early as same day. Switching this month! read more

If I could give a 0 I would. Stay away from here. Carl Daniels will lie to you in order to get you to sign the contract. Was told we'd receive a touch screen panel but received a keypad that looks like it's one of their most outdated ones. They did the wiring completely wrong and left the keypad on our counter for a week or so before a tech came out and mounted it next to the stove as that "was the only place" they could put it without drilling and rerouting wires that would take weeks. We reluctantly agree and they mount it and leave. Later that night u see that they left the small voltage panel outside wide open and with the bolts laying around. Reached out to Carl Daniels and was essentially called a liar but a few emails later backtracked and said someone would reach out. Another week or so Ended up speaking to a customer service person named Dennis who said he would fix it all and "upgrade" our panel for free. They came out and moved it. Left a hole in my wall. Made another hole near my outlet cover for the wire and said that no one told him he was upgrading the system. Furious I reach out to Dennis and tell him I want out of the contract because now I have a hole in my kitchen and another hole by my outlet and a cover that will never be used and is an eyesore. I tell him this WASNT what was agreed to in the contract and that they need to release us. He says he's going to work on it. A month after no contact I reach out and find out he was fired and no one followed up. I get in contact with David Old who essentially gives me the same story that he'll upgrade and make it right and when I deny and say I just want the system out of my house he says "you signed a contract I don't care what Carl told you, it's my word against yours." So I have him send a tech to my house to try and sync my thermostats which I had already do mentioned to Dennis were part of the contract and was not done. The tech informs me that they are not compatible. I inform David via email and no response. I call his office and after the 8th time a woman answers and says he's out of the office for an emergency and doesn't know when he'll be back. My wife calls a little while later to try her luck and is told he'll be back the following morning. This company is awful. I'm in the process of speaking with legal counsel and have submitted a claim via the Better Business Bureau. STAY AWAY. I'm surprised their company has lasted this long. Check your contracts if you're stuck with them and make sure they're not in breach of contract. read more

Absolutely regret using this company. I got the run around for several mistakes (which k have proof for in texts) that they made when it came to installing the surround sounds. When I called today the customer service "supervisor" was condescending and made it same like she was doing me a favor. This company sucks and so does the "customer service". This Company is horrible - we just got a home built by KBhomes and this company was contracted to do the ethernet, wiring and sound speakers in the home. We had a problem with every single thing they did 1) they did not install half the speakers they just left them out 2) The wiring was not finished instead of terminating the wiring in the closet they just had all the wires hanging out 3) after reporting this to them they take DAYS to come out and fix it (no rush or urgency expressed by them) 4) one of the ethernet drops is dead - Tech came out cut the wire and re-crimped it and said it was fixed and it is still COMPLETELY dead he did no testing what so ever to make sure it works... Any one that knows how to make a patch cable should have the brains how to test one thats ridiculous they need to go back to high school and learn how to test a cable. I would have to agree with the negative review on this company. If I can give a negative star I would. They're good when they want to be but they are horrible with customer service and they NEVER EVER call you back. When we first signed up we decided it was going to be auto-pay. Just like any other company we had assumed that once they stopped receiving automatic payments due to the card being expired, they would send an actual bill instead. BUT NO, instead they continued to let our account become delinquent and now we received a letter threatening that our monitoring alarm will be canceled if we don't send a payment. What kind of company doesn't send out notices once the account becomes delinquent for one month?! I then called the number listed and she mentioned that it was due to the fact that we were signed up for auto-pay. IT just does not make sense to not send out a letter right away. I then asked about canceling our contract, she was quick to hand me off to someone else. In no way did she try to appease my frustration with their company and transferred me to someone else's voice mail. I left the message requesting for a call back. THAT WAS TWO WEEKS AGO! I again called today and left another message for a call back. It might be time to get a lawyer involved. read more

We just had our alarm installed by KPS. Our technician, Ellis, was great! He kept me notified on his arrival time so I wasn't sitting around waiting for him to arrive. I really appreciate that! He was very professional and knowledgeable about the product. He answered all our questions and made sure everything was explained clearly in regard to how the system works. He even said we could call him anytime if additional questions should come up. In regard to the security system, everything is working great and we are very happy. :) read more

I've had a terrible experience with KPS but I'll revise my review when and if this situation got resolved. Our alarm went off and we answered the phone to tell them there was no emergency. 3 weeks later we got a letter in the mail saying that we're being charged for a $300 false alarm fee by LAPD. The letter said that KPS called the police department and we're being charged. Additionally KPS never registered our alarm with the county nor gave us instructions to do so, so we're facing another $50 fine. I've held off giving a review until now since they are "working" on a resolution. However, I've been calling for over 3 weeks and keep getting the run around. Meanwhile both bills are due next week and I'm not going to skip paying the LAPD. Get your house in order KPS. read more

KPS is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with when it comes to low voltage equipment and installation. The installation was hokey at best. I spent over $10,000 on a low voltage package for my new construction home in Rancho Cucamonga. Come to find out, after the drywall was installed, a lot of the work had not been completed. I have gone back-and-forth with this company for the past three months with no solution in sight. read more

I had this company for many years as my alarm service, but it has seriously deteriorated. My telephone number was bumped was bumped from their billing system, and they never bothered to call and check what had happened. So for a long period of time I never had any monitoring, unbeknownst to me! When I finally called to check on why our service wasn't operating (we set off alarm accidentally and alarm service did not call), we set up two appointments for them to come out and check on the equipment, and both times they failed to show. Total customer disregard. DON'T GET YOUR SERVICE FROM THIS POOR COMPANY. read more

I was a customer since 2014. Last year I had a problem with the smoke detectors and reported on the website. I received no calls regarding this problem or the problem that was reported on the website. After six months and no response to the report another problem came up. After no response to this I disconnected the system and sent an email to cancel my service. Several times. After being charged for the next quarter again. I reported it to my credit card company and called them. Come to find out the cancellation request which must be done in writing was sent to an email address that no longer exists. They did not even bother to say that it was changed. I also sent a cancellation request to the contactus@kpsalarms.com in July with no response. Do not think you are safe with this company. I DONT KNOW WHY THIS SAYS I AM IN SAN FRANCISCO - I AM IN FONTANA CA, I AM A REAL CUSTOMER, A REALLY FRUSTRATED CUSTOMER! STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!! We moved into our home in July, since then we have had 4 service calls to the house for alarms sounding for "radio modem network failure", these are consistent, and regular and LOUD alarms. No one can seem to figure out what the issue is. the doorbell camera alerts if a moth flies over the park across the street - we are constantly "over" the recording max because of this. We got a "smash and steal" notice for our garage that is not even wired to the system, this alarm is crap! We were told last week by the fifth technician that our system is not even transmitting to the alarm company. We have asked multiple times to be let out of our contract due to the repeated service calls, and alarm failure - we were told no, we have to "buy out" a three year contract. DO NOT RECOMMEND this company, no one can fix this alarm, it does not work, and we are STUCK with it. I want out of this contract, they are not able to fix my issues but I am "stuck" for three years? unprofessional, unwilling to resolve issues. I would never recommend this company to anyone. Among many issues, their customer service representatives are slow to respond, they don't care to assist with any issues and are incredibly rude. We called their service department with an issue over 3 weeks ago and spoke with Gabrielle. The issue we were experiencing had to do with a fire alarm falsely being triggered. The alarm went off with no smoke or fire present. After the issue happened a second time in a day we called. Upon calling we were told that it would be $90 for a service rep to come out to our home. However, the appointment was never booked for no particular reason. Upon calling a second time, I was told by Gabrielle that she would call me back within half an hour to book an appointment and she never did. I then called her back and she said that it would be $130 for a service rep to come out with no explanation as to why the price increased, though she seemed apprehensive to send a service rep at all and was obviously irritated with the repeat call. I insisted that we have a technician come out that same day due to several days of the alarm going off, the fire department nearly knocking down our front door and a newborn who had to deal with the alarm at all hours. Gabrielle rudely replied that the one technician that KPS employs is booked solid and that Morgan Hill is "not exactly close" to where she can just send someone out that day. At that point I requested to speak with her supervisor. She stated that he wasn't available, but would call me back within half an hour. Over an hour and a half later, I still had not heard back from him and asked my husband to follow up. My husband called and was able to get a hold of David, who then said that he needed to do some research and would call my husband back within half an hour. Another hour and a half goes by, my husband calls David back who then offers troubleshooting advice including using compressed air and changing out the batteries--we did both, neither of which worked. The next morning, after the alarm went off twice in the middle of the night and we had a screaming infant that we needed to put back to sleep TWICE, I called Gabrielle again and insisted on a technician to come out that day. At this point, the cost of the technician went to $185 for the visit. When I inquired about the increase in the rate, considering we started at $90 a week prior, she replied with "you're not listening" and proceeded to sternly explain the pricing structure. She then told me about the conversation that her supervisor Dave had with my husband the day before and suggested that we try the tips Dave gave us because he has "been in this business for 25 years." I asked to speak to David and she said that he was not available. After multiple attempts to get someone out to our home to fix this issue, we gave up. The alarm is still malfunctioning and the fire department even came out on Christmas Eve to see if they could fix the problem and explained that we NEEDED A TECHNICIAN TO LOOK AT IT! We have decided to go with one of their competitors, who seems to have better staffing in the Morgan Hill area and can offer an acceptable level of customer service. read more

We had a home built with KB home, first things first is the equipment we were led to believe we were purchasing was a total lie. We received the basic equipment and I declined to upgrade at that time to prevent unnecessary holes in the walls. Fast forward to our fourth month in our home our alarm system stopped receiving a signal from the cell tower. Granted this was when the Covid crisis began. I immediately reached out to let them know our alarm system was not connecting to their server it took them over a week to send out a technician to possibly fix the issue and I had to threaten canceling my services for that to happen. They refused me cancel my services so they sent a technician to my home to install an additional antenna in hopes of getting our alarm system a signal to their server. Fast forward over 30 days now I have been leaving multiple unanswered emails requesting for them to me either fix the error or in my services and yet they have never answered any of my emails. Finally over 30 days later they're fixed to the horrible service or the lack there of they offered to upgrade our equipment. As I stated this was over 30 days later at this time we already have ADT installed in our whole as I security is very important to us. If their manager Janet literally is refusing to end our services after they have displayed the horrible service they have to offer.. I'm not sure what your current situation is but avoid KPS at all cost. Their customer service is lacking customer service horribly and they will ignore you and your sense of security all for their monitory gain. read more

Today, unfortunately, good customer service seems to be a thing of the past. Not so with Ellis and Gabriela at KPS Alarms, Pleasanton, CA. I purchased a new home that had the KPS smart home system and contacted Gabriella to schedule an appointment. She was pleasant and extremely willing to arrange an appointment around my schedule. When Ellis, the Tech arrived he was courteous and anxious to configure the system to my specific needs. He was extremely patient with issues that we my fault and went above and beyond to remedy the issues. Subsequently, my my interest in making changes the system was not only supported by Gabriella without question but Ellis agree to meet at 6:30 pm on a Friday night to make the changes. My thanks to Gabriella and Ellis for providing a very high level of service...with a smile! read more

Negative 1000, honestly been having issues with this company, I live in a KB home and the alarms came with the house. First off, they are rude during phone calls and now they are officially not answering and just declining my calls straight to voicemail. I asked for a copy of my contract that they claimed I signed but responded with, "we actually can't find it right now." but still wanted me to pay a amount that was ridiculous. We touched the monitor twice and both those times the cops and firefighter showed up. Never again have we even thought to touch it. Would give negative stars if possible. Building a new home with KB Homes, and their vendor is KPS for some wiring. It has been an absolute nightmare. I would avoid at all costs. First they say it is not possible to upgrade to Cat6. That i have to use cat5e. then after finding out another friend was able to have cat6 installed, I asked KPS again and they said it was not possible. Once i told them they did it somewhere else, they said it is possible, and are trying to charge an outrageous price more. Then for the home theater install- i can only use 16 gauge wire. they system I want to build recommends 12 gauge. Another battle with them on what is possible. Now i can buy the wire myself but they won't warranty anything, not even the labor. So if they damage the cable, I am screwed. They have a monopoly being the only vendor and are treating customers like this... i wish i never signed up with them. And shame on KB homes for letting their vendor get away with this. read more

I called this company because it's the same company that installed a security system in the model home I bought from the builder. I called 4 times in the last 2 days trying to get them to call be back to set up service. I left a message for Heather the "Home Tech Specialist" whom I've yet to hear from. Most security companies answer their phones and call you back because they want your business. Never have I had to chase a company down to get their services.
