We searched online for a boat rental company for the Hot Springs Area and Great White Rentals was…read morethe first site to come up. We read the reviews and assumed since they were all so good and their website looked good they were a legit company. We called and talked to a nice lady on the phone a week prior to us coming to visit for a week long vacation with 6 of our grandkids. Let her know we had a pontoon and would like to rent a nice boat to spend 2-3 days on the lake tubing, skiing, and riding around while we were here. I asked about the two nicer boats on the website and she said they had some really clean boats and she could get us 8 in one no problem. So reserved the premium one over the phone. When we arrived the next week they called the day before and requested to be paid the of the amount in cash. I thought this was strange for a company, but agreed and went to back to get cash for the next morning. (First red flag) When they arrived with the boat it was a 22 year old tri-toon, very weathered, and let's just say, well used. (Second red flag) Seats ripped, awning held together with bungee cords and straps, rear ladder was bungee strapped up, horn was broken, so we have a whistle, interior lights broken lenses, radio didn't work, the anchor was an 8 pound mushroom anchor you would use for a johnboat, would certainly not hold a 24' pontoon. The life vest they provided were just as old as the boat. We only had 4 we could use old of the 10 they sent. There's no tow bar to pull from, so the drivers says yeah you will have to tie onto one of the toons, really??? I expressed my frustration with the delivery driver, which went no where, I called the office and talked to a lady who said she had only been answering phones for a few months and had never actually seen the boats. (Third red flag). I asked at this point was this a company or was this just individuals renting out their boats and cabins? She answered just individuals, they don't have an actual office. She advised she would get with the owner of the boat to see if they can do anything but they didn't have any other boats available. By now I'm frustrated but I have 6 grandkids ages 13-8 looking at me excited to go boating and waiting to get on the boat. They could care less what it looks like or if it's going to leave us stranded, they just want to go. lol I go ahead and take the boat and make the best of what we have throughout the day. When they pick up the boat I was expecting a little humility and at least an half ass excuse, but all I get was "sorry this wasn't what you expected, thank for re ring with us though". We check on other rentals in the area the next morning and found that they actually have newer boats and are quite a bit less expensive. I also went back and reviewed their website to see if I missed anything and over reacted. What I found was a couple of the reviews were from the delivery guys family, the delivery driver is actually in the pictures. So I wonder if the 23 reviews are actually real at this point. Moral of the story, don't stop doing research when you find a good website or good reviews. Keep checking around, we paid 730 dollars for a 22 year old worn out boat and motor for 8 hours and could have gotten a 2 year old boat with a bigger motor, for 520 dollars at 2 other rental places right down the road. If you're renting your own equipment that's great, just be upfront about it !

It appears that this is normal for them and not a fluke. Unfortunate. The biggest problem with this organization is communication. When we arrived? 2 men asked us if we had reservations. We said Yes, a d they drove away with us sitting on the parking lot. After 15 minutes they returned, but turned around to drive off again without giving us any information. I had to flag them down. When I did, we were told to go down to the booth to check in. But there was no one to check us in. There was another family waiting who had been there nearly an hour. Fast forward 30 minutes more and we are finally on the jet skis. They get me on 1st, but they didn't have a life jacket for my wife, so she took lo her as they located one. The young man working there began to yell at me that I had to go on out without my wife. "You have to go!" He just kept yelling! It was no use, because no way was I turning my back and motoring out into the Bay while people i don't know are struggling to get my wife prepared. I don't do that. Eventually she was ready. I gave her plenty of space, which from their yelling appeared to be the concern, and we went out. We had 3 more incidents of conflict with this same guy over the course of the ride. Had the day not been perfect and the tons of dolphins not escorted us, he would have ruined our trip with is mouth. So the ride was a 5 but the customer service was a 1. I'll likely go so where else next time.

I was pleasantly surprised at how quiet and peaceful the area was where we kayaked. When my friend mentioned Back Bay I was thinking, oh snap. What did I commit myself to?? Kayaking where there might be cottonmouths??!! But I was thinking Back Bay Wildlife Refuge where I've seen lots of them. There were no cottonmouths. I promise you. Just lots of duck blinds and marsh areas that open into the bay. It was so serene. You get 2 hours, and rental includes the pfd and they loan you a waterproof phone case if needed which was nice. Because I was pretty dry until I got out of the kayak from our 2 hours. I landed in waist deep water, my feet sunk into the sand. I couldn't recover from the fall and face planted into the water - baseball hat, sunglasses and waterproof phone case and all. THAT waterproof phone case saved my phone and my key fob!! Don't do what I did Launch it parallel to the land so you don't end up in the water like I did. The young man that worked there was kind and genuinely concerned. When he arrived to pull the kayaks further up on land, he asked if I got hot. Because he saw I was soaking wet. I think he thought I took a dip in the water. But I told him, I actually fell in getting out of the kayak. (The older couple with their beach chairs outside Baja got quite a show of me splashing around. Haha. ) He made sure I was okay and asked if my phone was okay and to make sure since the waterproof phone cases aren't 100% waterproof. Thankfully, it was fine and so was my key fob. You can rent single or tandem kayaks and are free to roam the area. It's $35 plus tax but they offer military discounts 10% with ID so it came out to $33.39 for me. Staff was very nice the young man was the same person who checked us in and took our payments and the young ladies were friendly and kind as well. Kudos to the staff with their patience, because there was a large group (family) that was blocking the entrance to the shack. When it was time for them to gear up for their pfds, they ransacked the racks of life vests and staff had to politely inform them that they have it in order and will fit each of them individually properly. Therefore there's no need to take them off the rack. I looked it up on their website and if you have your own kayak you can pay a $15 launch fee so that's cool.

Today was my wife's birthday; she is very adventurous. The staff was amazing. They explained what to expect and provided the necessary safety equipment. The ride was fantastic. I am 50+, and I was holding on, with my eyes closed and a smile, to my two kids. The driver helped me adjust to changes in speed and water turbulence resulting from the boat ride. My kids and my wife were laughing. They helped us create a lasting family legacy moment we can cherish. I will come again and use them in the future. I highly recommend them for locals and out-of-town guests. Thank you, John, Cheyenne, Emily, and the rest of the staff.

Life jackets are located throughout the park. There are several family water slides: Big Daddy Falls, Aquazoid Amped, and Malibu Pipeline were all rides we as a family with 36" and 48" tall children could experience together. My oldest and I liked the cutback water coaster a lot! Rock 'n Roll island is home to the lazy river, a large standard pool and an obstacle course. There is also a kiddie slide in this area along with 3 body slides for 48"+. My youngest enjoyed the cow-a-bunga play area and the couple of slides there. High tide harbor was also a hit: a multi level play structure with multiple kiddie slides. Hubba hubba highway was also a crowd-pleaser, think non-lazy river. We spent a lot of time in the wave pool too. No tubes but grab a life jacket and let the waves take over. We also had lunch and my youngest ate the whole cheeseburger she ordered and gave it two thumbs up. The dirt cups were also a favorite that the kids enjoyed. Definitely a fun waterpark, recommend a weekday visit if possible.

We came here this early to try and get a big locker. These jumbo lockers are a whopping $55. Once I got the locker, we wound up waiting for the Wave Pool to open. Not sure why, but when I realized why, I said it made sense. Instead of purchasing a locker, ppl ran to grab a beach chair (which there was plenty of) to lay their belongings there and cover it with a towel. Many ppl did this to avoid paying for a locker. Now, idk if I would try this, but I personally didn't see anyone going through anyone's belongings. The first ride we went on was the Colossal Curl. Now you see, I'm a thrill seeker. I've jumped out of a plane twice, gone ATV riding, rode in a chopper twice, and the list goes on, but this particular water ride, had my nerves in a mess when it was over. This ride almost made me think it was going to flip over. It def had me shaken, so yes, it was a great ride, so was Big Daddy Falls. Went on a few other rides, as well as, including kiddie rides with my 3yr old son. He was fearless, and wanted to get on all the big rides. I forgot the name of this mini water park for kids next to Big Daddy Falls, but there were so many kids shooting water at everyone that I had to sit down and recoup. It was like a water war zone LOL. Overall, great place to enjoy with family and friends. To the women wearing swimsuit thongs, come on, there's lots of kids around. Yall don't need to seek attention everywhere you go! Tip: If you have a water bottle from Busch Gardens, you can bring it to Water Country and pay just $4.99 for unlimited refills for the day!
