I was pleasantly surprised to discover Kramer's while visiting some friends at Hopsquad. This unassuming cocktail bar has both the style and flavor to become a regular stop whenever I'm in the area. It wasn't busy at the time, so I had the bar to myself and took full advantage of their weekend happy hour. I started with the margarita which was fresh, balanced, and refreshing and ended with the Abuelita Café, which had just the right kick of caffeine for an afternoon pick me up. The menu features a great selection of specialty and draft cocktails, along with non-alcoholic options. Service was fast and friendly, making it an all around great first visit.

Nice quiet place for cocktails and conversation Old fashion was great for the price. Bartenders with great service.

Never had a worse espresso martini. Tastes like bitter coffee vodka. Missing a critical element.

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. If you don't know it's there, it's easy to miss. Stepping inside feels like walking into a stylish, oversized living room. A sleek bar lines one side of the space, while comfortable modern living room furniture occupies the center of the room. The atmosphere strikes a perfect balance between chic sophistication and laid-back fun, with clean architectural lines, modern décor, and dim lighting that creates an inviting ambiance. During our visit, we learned that the longtime bartender had recently moved on and been replaced by Sydney, who was absolutely delightful. When she discovered we were celebrating my friend's birthday, she rallied everyone at the bar and throughout the lounge area to sing "Happy Birthday." The gesture was unexpected, heartfelt, and instantly made the evening feel special. As fate would have it, another guest was celebrating a birthday as well, so the entire group enthusiastically sang for her too. The bar clearly has a loyal following, as several regulars were gathered throughout the evening...a testament to the welcoming atmosphere that keeps people coming back. Syndey crafted custom cocktails for both my friend and me, working with only two instructions: tequila for her and vodka for me. The results were refreshing, creative, and expertly crafted. What could have been just another night out became a memorable birthday celebration thanks to the warmth, hospitality, and personal touches at W XYZ Bar. For that, I'm truly grateful.

After browsing nearby bars, we saw that W XYX was within walking distance so we decided to give it a try. W XYZ is in the lobby of the Aloft Hotel. The hotel has a contemporary modern feel which is also reflected in the bar. When we first arrived, it wasn't too busy, but it picked up as the night went on. Chris was behind the bar that evening. He provided some good recommendations on cocktails. I was surprised to see the number of cocktails on the menu. I decided to go with the Freshen Up while my friend went with the Thin Mint Cookie. My drink had cucumber syrup in it. I'm a sucker for cucumber so I decided to give it a try. Unfortunately, I didn't care for this drink. It was so mint forward from the creme de mint that it over powered the drink. I felt like I was drinking mouthwash. My friend enjoyed her drink and said it tasted like a Thin Mint Girl Scout cookie in a glass. Though I didn't care for my cocktail, it wouldn't stop me from returning to try a different drink. I'll be sure to avoid any cocktails with creme de mint in the future.

And, at both breakfasts Amy made me feel especially welcome! The table came with a bottle of water for self-service, which I appreciated. The wine list was of good quality. My server at dinner was able to give me a solid recommendation for one to pair with my salmon. She was dead on with how well it complimented the fish. As for the salmon, it wasn't overly seasoned and was incredibly flaky. It was a good size as well. For breakfast, The Breakfast Plate's eggs were cooked perfectly with appropriately cooked bacon. I enjoyed the potatoes that accompanied it as well. The Buttermilk Pancakes meal was a failure though. The pancakes were gooey inside. My server, Amy, offered to have them remade, but I declined the offer. So I accepted a parfait, which was easily one of the best I've had in Austin. The granola with the berries were perfectly balanced, and the granola wasn't super chunky. Amy was 100% invested in my meal satisfaction. The dining room is quite pretty with lovely set tables. Every time I ate, I felt a tad underdressed! But they don't care if you're comfortably casual, and i saw a family with small children looking very relaxed and vacationy and they were welcome.

Loved how there was a performance to making some of the drinks (got a video of one). We were informed ahead of time to make a reservation at 7:30 pm so we could sit in the main area and continue the celebration with more food, drink, and listen to jazz music by a very cool band. I am sure I will find myself at Foxtail again for a future event or just a quick hang out with friends.

The location and watered down drinks do not justify the $16 price tag per drink.

The space itself is clean and stylish, featuring 12 Austin-inspired holes. The service from the staff is friendly and attentive. The mini-golf course is realistically doable, which is a plus because so many indoor mini-golf spots have gimmicky setups that are trash to play. The price is a little on the expensive side for 35 minutes of play, and like most mini-golf courses, it tends to get backloaded at each hole when it is busy. Just chill out, sip your drink, and take your time enjoying the round. If you are looking for a cool indoor activity in The Domain to beat the heat with upscale drinks and some casual competition, Dirdie Birdie is a super fun spot to check out.

There are a few different holes you can try and some of the concepts were really interesting. One of my favorites was one where it shoots the golf ball up the wall and you watch it come down various ramps and musical instruments. This is a good spot for a date night or fun with friends and family. The mini golf area is smaller than some other mini golf spots I've visited in Houston but it was still a fun time. We finished the whole course in around 20-30 minutes and there wasn't a line. Seems to be a fun spot to visit on a weekend!

Wow! What an incredible experience at Sixty Vines in The Domain!…read more We made our reservation through OpenTable and mentioned that we were celebrating our anniversary. From the moment we walked in, the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. When we arrived at our table, we were surprised with a handwritten Happy Anniversary postcard and a beautifully presented gift--such a thoughtful touch that immediately made the evening feel special. Our server, Polina, was absolutely fantastic. She took the time to learn what styles of wine we enjoy and brought us a few samples before helping us choose an amazing wine flight. Her recommendations were spot-on! We also enjoyed a custom charcuterie board and the prosciutto & fig pizza, both of which were outstanding. To top it all off, Andrew, the manager, stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect. We loved learning about Sixty Vines' unique wine-on-tap program and appreciated their commitment to sustainability, including composting food scraps. (They didn't have much to compost from our table--maybe a bite or two of pizza crust! ) The only disappointing part of the evening was that we had tickets to a show and couldn't stay longer to explore more of their incredible wine selection. That's just another reason we'll definitely be back!
