I came here with my boyfriend wanting a nightcap. Bri was working the bar, and we asked her to create a couple of dessert cocktails for us. She made my boyfriend a "Bri-sicle" which was so delicious, and me a cocktail that tasted just like an adult strawberry milk. The service was so great, and they even had little games you could play on the tables.

There are plenty of bars in The Domain, so why go to a hotel for drinks? In this case, because it's the WXYZ Lounge the The Aloft Hotel where you will find superior cocktails from a master bartender. You will meet Mike, who has been behind the counter for 8 years (and has created many of the drinks on the menu!).  He will identify what you are looking for, can educate you about your drink, the spirits, and his process. On top of that, he has a great personality! This lounge is quite small (it *is* in a hotel lobby) but there are comfortable chairs, couches, and tables for you. And most appreciated, it is fairly quiet. You can have actual conversation.  It's a wonderful way to close out your evening.  Superior cocktails in a comfortable setting. And, don't forget, prepare to tip Mike well! He will deserve it!

While staying at the Aloft at The Domain over a long weekend, we noticed this bar was quite lively and active each night! On the weekends, they had a one-man band (guitarist) and the lounge and bar was completely packed each night, even around midnight! So, on our last night we stopped in, grabbed a spot at the bar and had a nightcap. Bri was the bartender and she was very friendly and helpful. She had just designed a new drink with fall flavors that my wife got, which seemed to be quite popular, as others were drinking it as well. It really did taste great! They offer all the common bar favs in spirits and have a decent cocktail menu, but you can always veer off the menu and challenge the bartender, if you want. I always enjoy these WXY Z bars in Aloft hotels, they're typically energetic and fun and this experience was the same.

Fabulous cocktails with a fabulous bartender. Highly recommend, ask about his book!

Just wow!!!! We were going to Culinary Dropout and they were closed for a private event. We are so grateful! After looking at Yelp reviews we decided on W XYZ. We had been screaming at each other at other bars in the Domain because of loud music and the overcrowded atmosphere; when we entered the Aloft, the music was refreshing and understated and the ambience was perfect for a Friday night. Mike, the Master Bartender greeted us with a mesmerizing beard, waves of silver curls and a welcoming smile. The cocktail menu was innovative and had a story to tell. The three of us chose different drinks after consulting with Mike and they DID NOT disappoint. Wow again!!! Try the Vintage, 837-5309, Elizabethan Poetry, A$$ in the Sand and/or the Baby Step... Heck!! Try them all (Get a convenient room upstairs). The curated cocktails are delicious and made with care. Mike crafted most of them himself and you can taste his passion and thoughtfulness. Yum!!! A wonderful way to experience the Domain in a lovely and connecting way with your friends/family. Obviously, I highly recommend. We will definitely be back and bring others. Special. Magical. Refreshing. Needful. Austin at its best.

Drinks are expensive and served in what feels like miniature target brand, low-quality glasses, which makes the value proposition hard to justify the steep $14 price. The atmosphere is where it really falls apart. The space is set up like a bright, casual brunch hall rather than a cocktail bar--harsh, bright lighting, uncomfortable wooden chairs, and basic wooden square tables that don't align with the concept AT ALL. There's no food offering, yet the environment feels designed for daytime dining rather than an evening bar experience. From a design and hospitality standpoint, it's difficult to understand how this made it to opening in its current state. Even a VERY basic understanding of lighting and ambiance would suggest this setup is fundamentally mismatched--ESPECIALLY for something like a date night. If you're looking for a comfortable or intimate setting, this is NOT it. You'd honestly have a better experience sitting outside a gas station with a 6-pack of Coors Light.

Located off Anderson Mill in the corner of a strip mall is a bookshelf with a door on the right side. If you cannot figure out the entrance, there is a doorbell to ring as well. I believe it is owned by the same people who own The Mill bar right next door, which makes it feel like a cool bonus space. My friend and I sat next to a faux fireplace, where we were greeted by the only bartender working and placed our order. Once he opened the tab, it was disappointing that he never came back to check if we wanted another drink. It wasn't super busy on the Monday we went, but since he was the only one manning the bar, the bartender was always doing something, so I don't blame him fully for not checking back in with us. I ordered a drink called the Velvet Vice. It looked nothing like the picture and tasted similar to an Aviation cocktail with egg whites. I happened to really like it. It is a very relaxed space, but once the speakeasy gimmick wears off, it does not have much else going for it. It is still a cool place, but I am not sure it was worth the lengthy drive to get there. And, at both breakfasts Amy made me feel especially welcome! The table came with a bottle of water for self-service, which I appreciated. The wine list was of good quality. My server at dinner was able to give me a solid recommendation for one to pair with my salmon. She was dead on with how well it complimented the fish. As for the salmon, it wasn't overly seasoned and was incredibly flaky. It was a good size as well. For breakfast, The Breakfast Plate's eggs were cooked perfectly with appropriately cooked bacon. I enjoyed the potatoes that accompanied it as well. The Buttermilk Pancakes meal was a failure though. The pancakes were gooey inside. My server, Amy, offered to have them remade, but I declined the offer. So I accepted a parfait, which was easily one of the best I've had in Austin. The granola with the berries were perfectly balanced, and the granola wasn't super chunky. Amy was 100% invested in my meal satisfaction. The dining room is quite pretty with lovely set tables. Every time I ate, I felt a tad underdressed! But they don't care if you're comfortably casual, and i saw a family with small children looking very relaxed and vacationy and they were welcome.

The space mixes art deco with a little bit of Spanish flair, tucked beside/adjacent to Mama Betty's. It's big, but arranged in a way that still feels cozy and social. The crowd? Late 20s to early 40s. Grown and attractive. Lively but not chaotic. Vibrant without being loud. Perfect for dressing up a little, socializing and lingering a little. We Ubered there, so I didn't get a full picture of the parking, but it seems like there may be a little parking garage or validated parking area? Maybe a pay for parking? I would read other reviews. Most of the staff? Fantastic. Professional, warm, funny. Our assigned waitress, however, gave off overwhelmed and low-energy. She was short with communication and it sort of dulled our sparkle for a moment, but the drinks and vibes quickly brought it back. Had we had another waitress, this place would have been a 10 out of 10. On to the drinks: Round one: espresso martinis (made with Tito's). Slightly sweet, bold, smooth, and very sippable. No coffee bean decorations on top, but full of flavor. No cream inside...sort of reminding you of a Black Russian. Served in a ribbed coupe glass. Round two: French 75s with Hendrick's. Punchy lemon flavor, a tad sweet, lower champagne notes but still giving French 75. Garnished with a dried lime slice instead of a lemon. Served elegant in those ribbed coupe glasses (which fit the aesthetic perfectly). The cocktails are well-crafted and intentional. They aren't overly boozy, but they are balanced, smooth and polished. Bathrooms? Immaculate. Unisex. Private stall rooms with their own individual doors. Efficient and modern. No long lines. Opportunity to mingle with the opposite sex in the bathroom if that suits your fancy. Foxtail feels like a good place to start a new chapter. We had good conversations and we enjoyed staying out just a little longer than we planned. Their Happy Hour (4:30-6pm weekdays) is officially on my radar for the future. I'll be back. Her recommendations were spot-on! We also enjoyed a custom charcuterie board and the prosciutto & fig pizza, both of which were outstanding. To top it all off, Andrew, the manager, stopped by our table to make sure everything was perfect. We loved learning about Sixty Vines' unique wine-on-tap program and appreciated their commitment to sustainability, including composting food scraps. (They didn't have much to compost from our table--maybe a bite or two of pizza crust! ) The only disappointing part of the evening was that we had tickets to a show and couldn't stay longer to explore more of their incredible wine selection. That's just another reason we'll definitely be back!
