I was craving Thai food and decided to give this place a shot as I'd never been, and had seen great reviews. I'm going to be honest I left this place knowing I wouldn't be back. The service is super friendly so 10/10 for that, but the food was over priced for the quality of food, and not something I'd have again. The spring roll had a piece of chicken in each one measuring the size of my pinky finger. It might as well have been a veggie spring roll. I only ate half of a spring roll I didn't care for the sauce it was served with it. The dish lacked major flavor. The first bite I took of my noodles was not bad, but as I kept eating all I could taste was oil. Will just say I left most of the food behind and ended up feeling a little sick.

I'm impressed! Krathom Lek serves up delicious Thai/Laotian cuisine that packs a punch. I've been here multiple times with friends, and the quality has been consistent and service has been friendly. I agree the prices are on the higher side (especially because there's an extra charge for credit card), but the flavors keep me coming back. Appetizers: Shrimp rolls -- crispy, flavorful, deceptively light shrimp fried in a thin wonton wrapper. It's a guilty treat when dipped in the sweet and tangy sauce pairing. Papaya salad -- deliciously crisp and refreshing papaya slivers tossed in a flavorful fish sauce sauce. This packs a punch with the spices, but I found it addictive and a nice palate cleanser in between the other heavier dishes. Tom Yum soup -- tangy, cozy soup that tickles the back of your throat with its late-onset spice, but a favorite of mine for chilly evenings. I did find this version a touch on the sweet side for me, but the fresh lemongrass balanced it out nicely. Noodles: Pad Thai -- always a must-try, I was satisfied with the cook and flavoring of this version. I prefer mine more on the tangy side, but that's just a personal preference. Thai Boat Noodle Soup -- light rice noodles and homey soup makes this a cozy dish for cold nights. It felt akin to pho for me. Pad See Ew -- verrrry saucy and a generous portion. I liked the bell peppers and onions generously strewn throughout, and each strand of flat rice noodle was nicely coated in savory sauce. Curries: Green curry -- would absolutely recommend. Flavor was super robust and ingredients were perfectly cooked, especially the bamboo shoots. One of the best green curries I've had in a long time. Red curry -- just because I loved the green curry so much, red comes in second, but flavor was still good and was a milder curry in comparison. I also enjoy the rice options here, as there's sticky rice, white rice, brown rice, and fried rice. One serving is pretty generous and enough to share. I'm looking forward to my next visit! Hopefully I remember to bring cash..

    Insect in papaya salad

Be careful. Check the food before eating. Insect was found in the papaya salad. Won't be ordering from here again unfortunately.

I ordered the pad Thai, spring rolls, and yellow curry. The pad Thai was good but could do with a bit more flavor. The spring rolls were good but it was mostly a giant veggie roll with a tiny amount of protein. The yellow curry was inedible for me. The entire top centimeter was just oil, and no matter how much I stirred I couldn't get it to mix. I did try it, but all I could really taste was oil and ended up tossing it in the trash.

I'm VERY picky when it comes to PHO. I moved from an area where I was spoiled to have so many places that had PHO. LA to OC and anything in between. Growing up in Long Beach you had Cambodia town. Need I say more :) moving up here was very hard to find any kind of Asian place. Thai, Vietnamese, Cambodian I love it all. I seen this place and I knew I had to give it a try. I wasn't feeling well and I knew some PHO would help out. I did not Dine in I ordered it to go. I had the large chicken PHO, the egg rolls and the pad see Eww. This review is just based on those items. The pho was decent. Okay. The broth wasn't as flavorful as the broth at Davorns. The ingredients seemed clean but if you want good PHO I'd recommend davorns place. The egg rolls though, we're some of the BEST egg rolls I have ever had. Delicious. The pad see Eww. Was okay at first but I ended up having to throw it away because a part of it tasted spoiled! I wasn't there long to get much customer service but the cashier was nice.

    Lunch special

Ordered 4 lunch specials and each plate were thrown together without a care in the world. The packaging was terrible. There was papaya sauce all over the chicken making the chicken very soggy. The worse part was that the papaya got super hot because it was thrown in with the fresh out of the fryer chicken legs. The chicken legs were not even good too. They were very plain, crispy, and didn't have any flavors. They ran out of sticky rice so we settled for white rice. Their white rice was not cooked all the way and was still very hard. We ended up throwing it away. The papaya and red curry was okay. I was expecting the papaya to be a little darker like the previous uploaded pictures on yelp.. The red curry was too sweet for me and the coconut flavor tasted weird. The drunken noodles were pretty good. The papaya salad included long beans and Thai egg plants in it which I liked. Overall prices were reasonable. The place is kind of cute and tiny. There's some tables and chairs around the area. Not sure if I would return to try other dishes.

I was in the area looking for some good food and found this little gem! The food is cooked fresh off the stove and it's a great serving for the price! 10/10

Khao soy with coconut cream - AMAZING

Do yourself a favor and get the khao soy and throw some coconut cream or coconut milk in it. To say it's delicious is an understatement. The flavors are amazing...pork is perfectly marinated, broth is to die for. We also got the pho and egg rolls. Everything showed up to my door piping hot! The pho is incredible with large portions. The egg rolls are very well done. Found my new obsession for sure! I'll be ordering weekly

Second time here great food and great service. Nice sized dining area with a casual atmosphere. This time I tried their chicken pho it was delicious it had nice portions of moist chicken pieces with a delicious broth and fresh vegetables including basil (and you don't have to ask them for it). This place is a must go if your craving Southeast Asian cuisine!!

Also, on top of that, the lady with the accent needs to learn customer service and needs to learn to be respectful. Almost everytime I go, she has a bitchy attitude and it's off putting to me and other customers. She is in the front of LA Kitchen and if she doesn't fix her attitude then it will run people away. I am sorry if that sounds harsh but it needs to be said because no one should receive bitchy disrespect if they don't deserve it. Chicken was flavorful & moist. Pork belly was crispy tho a tad dry. Sticky rice was nice good! Also ordered their spring rolls, noodles & mango w/sticky rice too. Spring rolls were soft & really fresh. My preference is combo shrimp pork together but they keep theirs separate, which is fine, just different style. Peanut sauce is really great! Sometimes it's too thick & peanut buttery or too thin & vinegary at other places. Theirs is perfect! Mango was a tad under ripe. Maybe not quite in season? but again, sticky rice on point. It was my first time ordering khao soy I thought khao soy was a curry based dish, but my noodles were a pork based broth, still yummy though! The pork belly here is huge and served hot and super crispy, miles better than any other pork belly I've tried. The thai tea had an off putting flavor, like they had made it with soy mik? instead of condensed evaporated milk?
