This venue was AWFUL!! $45 a ticket for General Admission with no seating. They call themselves…read morean Ampitheatre when really it is just a grass field. All the food, drinks and bathrooms are at the back of the venue. There were lines 200 people deep to get a lemonade. We arrived at 6:30 pm, just in time to get a decent parking place before they closed the parking lot. And the parking costs an extra $20 per vehicle. Our performer came on at 9:30 and the sound was so bad, all you could hear from our spot was her drummer. They didn't even project her on the side screens which would have been lovely since you couldn't see her at all. We ended up giving up at 10:15 to walk 3 miles back to our truck. We were hot, exhausted and VERY DISAPPOINTED!! They will never get my money again!

I'm probably going to get hate mail on this review, but I have to be honest. I recently went to…read morethe Snoop, E-40 , 2 short, Dr. Dr.Dre event at the RR Amphitheater. I lived in the area for 2 years and I was wracking my brain trying to figure out why the GPS was taking us to the University Oaks shopping center???. Surely Thomas my British navigation dude was mistaken, there wasn't any room for an amphitheater here, or perhaps it was an intimate venue which is always the best! Whelp, the "amphitheater" was literally a clearing of trees with strings of lights thrown up into the remaining conifers. There was no pavement so if you're looking cute and wearing any kind of an open shoe or a heel an accident was bound to happen. The ground was poorly lit forest floor. Onto the refreshments. I'm sure everyone has heard the prices were ridonkulous, well it's true. There is absolutely NO reason 2 beers and 2 shots should cost $100. Clearly the revenues aren't going to paying off the infrastructure cost. A few of us purchased shave ice, non alcohol 4 of them were $ 50.00. If you wanted to buy a drink or add another flavor you had to wait in a ridiculously long line. The lack of food and beverage choices was poor planning period. Which brings me to my next point, is this a place where top talent is coming and people are paying exorbitant prices for a church carnival like atmosphere. Why weren't there actual bars with video screens for people to sit, chill watch the show and drink specialty cocktails and beer? This leads into the next con, unless you bought the upwards of $200 tickets, there was no option if someone wanted to sit. Some grass? Now people usually don't sit at a concert but if you get there early to hang out, most sit in their seat until the show starts. And $75 for a tee shirt, really?! To sum up my review, people work hard for their money and should get what they are paying for. With so many other fantastic venues in Austin, I don't see myself returning to RR Amphitheater anytime soon
