Amazing people. Went in with wheelchair tires that needed immediate replacement. They were able to help me right away. They let me know they would be able to get the tires I wanted in the future. This is my new favorite bike shop. After my regular bike shop couldn't accept anymore bikes for repair and my old Peugeot broke, again, I dragged the old girl to this cute little store in Bellport Village. Tucked almost discreetly behind some quant country cottages, this shop carries a personality only rivaled by the service it provides. The store proprietor, Chris, appeared to be impressed I pounded the miles into my old Peugeot and he advised me I was pedaling around a 50 year old antique. He still took the bike in for repairs even though his shop appeared just as backed up as my regular bike shop, I really appreciated that. They had 2 guys in the back who seemed pretty dedicated to repairs so I imagine this place sees lots of broken bikes and breathes life back into them. Anyway, I decided to consider a new bike to retire my old French lady and stop the constant repairs. While their shop didn't have too much selection, most likely do to Corona world, what they had was really nice. And it is as enough for me. I left the proud new owner a an All City Space Horse (with the same paint job as my old Peugeot may I add) Chris made a super quick adjustment and got me out the door and along on my way and I couldn't have been happier. Their prices were fair and honest and I imagine I'll find myself coming here more often. Great location, great products, great service. I highly recommend this business. read more

16 years ago, I dropped off my 1980 Rossin to get repair work done. It had Campy components and Look pedals. I had a family emergency happen, and I could not pick up my bike for weeks. When I picked it up, my Look Pedals and Look Seat Post bag were missing, and the staff could not locate them. They had no answers for me and told me my pedals went missing; I had no recurse. This was before websites. I never bought a bike from them, and neither did any of my friends or acquaintances. I have purchased 6 bikes since that exchange. I would not recommend this shop. They are neither honest nor truthful. read more

I drove about an hour to get to Krebs, and after being there for today's experience, would drive 10 hours if I needed to. The most incredibly positive experience with Chris, Mike and the the mechanics. It started weeks ago with Brenda who was very helpful in setting up my bike fitting appointment as well as answering questions. The actual place is adorable.. A comfortable and relaxing vibe while they work. I love all the things to buy as well as the mechanics out in front. Very polite They assembled a new 2021 Giant Road bike flawlessly and Chris did a fitting that was so professional and filled with great advice while educating along the way. Prices are very reasonable and I trust them fully. If every place was run like Krebs, the world would be a better place to cycle. Terrible service sold wrong wheels, my husband drove 30 minutes to pick up the wheels not only to have them give him the wrong wheels and then I had to go back 30 minutes so we are talking about 2 Hour Drive to only walk in there and have the girl behind the counter give you a terrible attitude!!! read more

So after my son blew the tire on his bike, dismantled it and left it to be weathered for two months, I ran over to Kreb cycle for a new inner tube ... Fixed! He also had to put the tire back on the bike ... oh and tighten the super loose brakes .. no charge. Only qualm I have is being told it would take a while ... so I left ... and it was done in fifteen minutes ... ya know ... if that's something to complain about. This is not just the best bike store on Long Island (and believe me, I've been to most of them), but one of the very best shopping and repair experiences of any store I have ever been to, period. A dying breed: a small, specialty store that carries a high quality product at both the low and high end of the spectrum with extremely knowledgeable staff who are willing to listen, give advice and actually spend time fitting the bike to you. I bought my first bike (that is my first bike from Kreb) here over twenty years ago. I wanted to get into mountain biking. Chris sold me an inexpensive bike to start, told me where to ride, offered to set me up with someone to ride with. When I was ready for a better mountain bike, he recommended a good bike at a medium to low pricepoint. He ordered the bike, custom fit it to me. Gave me lots of free advice. When I started to get interested in road biking I brought my old Trek in. Chris never tried to talk me into buying a new bike. Instead he tuned the bike and set me up with the Suffolk Bike Riders Association (a riding group). When I was ready for a better bike, he sold me a Serotta steel (a beautiful bike--but Serotta's least expensive bike), again custom fit it. When I decided I wanted to learn how to build a wheel, Chris sat with me (for free) and showed me how to build it. I stopped in there a few days ago for the first time in maybe a year to buy new tires. Although extremely busy, Chris stopped what he was doing and took the time to help me. Yes, it's the end of the season, and he had to order the tires, but that only takes a couple of days. I don't understand the negative reviews at all. So David M. took his bike in for repair and got a good repair. He then asked Chris whether it was a good bike and Chris told him it was a piece of junk. That sounds honest to me, not arrogant. Presumably you ask the question because you want an honest answer. Or did he want, "yes honey, you look great on that beautiful bike"? Really. The assumption from that reviewer (and Patrick D.) that this shop focuses on high end bikes is, as you can probably tell from my experience, completely unwarranted. Yes, you can get a high end bike there, but I have never had the slightest feeling that I was being upsold. Quite the contrary. They are all about selling the customer what he wants and needs and willing to spend a lot of time figuring this out. And as for Philip E.'s comments. The experience (waiting while staff services another customer): quite possible. The perception that it was because there was money involved: inconceivable. You might not get immediate service because Chris or Greg may be helping another customer. That's the flip side of a full service shop that is willing to spend time with its customers. Look, it's a small, owner run shop (the rest of the staff is great as well, but I've known Chris for the longest). The selection of bikes and accessories is never going to equal what you can get at a larger shop--but they will order almost anything for you. And spend the time with you to make it right. Or you can (and I have on occasion) just gone to the internet. Of course when we kill the local bike shops, you better be able to fix your own bike. I just love this shop! read more

Chris (the owner) has been an integral part of the LI cycling scene for decades, and he's a genuine, knowledgable, and sincerely great guy. I've loved the setting and atmosphere of this shop for years (and as a competitive cyclist and former bike mechanic/ shop sales guy at other shops, I'm pretty hard of bike shops). Great brands, and over the years, Chris has attracted some of the best local bike shop talent. Unfortunately, I went in a few months ago, and a female employee (whom I'd not previously dealt with), while extremely polite, assisted me, however ultimately fell through on her commitment, and failed to return my phone calls. I addressed it with Chris, as I have a ton of respect for him. All in all, still a great shop, however I know to avoid that one employee if I happen to go back and see her working. read more

I've never purchased a bike before and I wanted to make sure I got something reliable that will last a long time. My buying researched started with my cousin, who recommended a brand called Specialized and mentioned I had a bike shop right in town that carried the brand. I've been in The Kreb Cycle before, but only to browse -- and it was a years ago. At first I was surprised to find out that the mainly carried this one brand, but it was also reassuring knowing that this cycle shop puts so much of their reputation behind Specialized. The staff was friendly and answered any questions I had. They were not pushy at all and, even though it was past their closing time, I didn't feel rushed. I came back two days later to buy a bike and another employee showed me a few options in my price range. They had the latest model I was looking at online as well as another one that two years old that was on sale. I was allowed to test-ride the bikes around the block a few times and eventually came to a decision. I went for the older model. They cleaned up the bike, polished it, gave it a once-over for safety and explained a few other odds and ends. Walked out 15 minutes [SEE BELOW] later with the same worn brakes after the owner, busy selling a high-end bike to a richer customer, kept chatting away about this and that and the weather without asking me to wait, thanking me for my patience or acknowledging my existence on our shared planet. I've experienced better service at the Post Office. [1/12/14] RESPONDING TO CHRIS J: Well, I can't remember the time or the day, so I can't argue with your computer record. I could have been wrong about how long I waited -- it FELT like 15 minutes. And perhaps I misunderstood what was going on between you and the other customer. But however inadvertently, you upset THIS customer enough to post a critical review on Yelp -- something I've never done before. I shopped for a few months and visited shops all across the island before finally buying my road bike and Kreb was more than anyone could ask for. SHOP AROUND!!!!!!! I decided to try a new hobby. I was recommended this bike shop and ended up buying two Giant mountain bikes. Customer service was great, attentive, and very informative. I decided to purchase a road bike and went back to this store looking for a Specialized road bike about 10 months later. I was quoted $1,600.00 by the young lady. Good thing I decided to look at others bike shops around the island because I found the same bike for $720 assembled and delivered. After doing some research I found out that I paid almost twice the price for both the Giant mountain bikes I had purchased earlier in 2018. I can only blame myself for not doing my research. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, but selection is severely lacking. Hey guys, it's not 1995 anymore, let's ditch the Specialized and give customers some options! Their tire selection was thin, then their tubes are provided by Specialized, who thinks that a pinky sized tube works well for 28mm (what's the point if the tube is so tiny!?). The bartape selection was equally lacking. There was limited stock of the great Cinelli cork but a plethora of lackluster Specialized stuff (I've never heard anyone rave about Specialized tape, but Cinelli is king). This shop seems to focus on high end, spend without thinking customers, which I am not. I do my research and most of the good affordable stuff is not found in this shop. Hopefully they'll get with the times and provide some more options soon! read more

Fantastic experience shopping here. I am a guy who used to ride and am getting back into it. Chris could have appealed to my ego and sold me a more expensive bike, but instead he sold me the appropriate bike for the right price. Chris took the time to size my bike correctly. He also took me out for a test ride to make sure I understood how the gears and brakes worked and then again when I got my clip in pedals and shoes. His staff helped download the GPS system onto my phone, a bonus for an old guy! I cannot recommend this store and the way they conduct their business highly enough. read more

When I asked the owner if this was a good bike he simply told me this bike was junk and not worth anything! They listen to your needs and recommend what they think is the best bike for you. If they don't have something they'll help you find it somewhere else. They're excellent wrenches also. Not sure about David M. Experience, but I had a brand they do not carry tuned and didn't experience anything like that. They did a superb job (all that really counts, right?) and found them rather complimentary abut my Colnago. They even offered to build me a second one I was hoping to purchase, if I purchased the frame elsewhere. Ultimately they gave me a couldn't be beat price on an S-Works Tarmac and I went with that and have been extremely happy. Every purchase I have made there, including hand made Italian wheelsj, has included a superb experience. I've searched high and low for a trace of arrogance, but totally escapes me. They are friendly, cooperative, helpful, and KNOWLEGEABLE!! I live 10 miles or so away, but consider them my LBS. read more

Everyone at Kreb is so nice and helpful. I am a beginner at mountain biking so I had a lot of questions and Chris helped me with everything. Once I figured out which bike I was going to get, Chris said that they had my size but they had to put it together. It wasn't the exact color I wanted but I told them to put it together anyway. It was a hard bike to find and I didn't think I would find the color I wanted, anywhere else. Chris said that they would have it ready for me the next day. The next morning, I actually found the exact bike and color that I wanted at a different bike shop, so I quickly called Kreb to tell them I wasn't going to purchase the bike. I felt awful because they were so amazing. They were super cool about it though. I will definitely be going there for tuneups and repairs. read more
