Front to back this store delivers like it should. Like any small bike shop it's important to keep good relationships and I feel that Carl Hart does this fairly well. I've bought nice bikes from them, had my occasional visits in between for this and that. Solid techs and Eric is always east to chat with. I had purchased a new bike from Carl Hart Bicycles. When I got it home I noticed that they had neglected to include a serial number on the bottom of the bicycle. I called to make an appointment for two days later. When I arrived for the appointment, the person waiting on me was very rude, and said "You brought this in at a very busy time for us." He acted like I had purposefully tried to disrupt his day. All I wanted them to do was honor the appointment they had agreed to. They finally did the work, but they kept me waiting a long time. There are a lot of bicycle dealers out there. I will not return to this store for any reason. I do not have to put up with this terrible customer service. read more

My first time in a bike shop. Wanted to pick up a bike for my six year old. I checked out the usual toy stores for a bike and while a Mickey Mouse bike is definitely cheaper than a Trek Precaliber, there is no comparison in regards to quality. Definitely not an apples-to-apples comparison. It's not that she needed the "best", but I wanted something safe, and well built. Plus, I don't feel like adjusting the brakes every day on a cheap bike. I remember doing that as a kid, and it's not fun. I believe I dealt with Eric. Very helpful, and answered all of my newbie related questions. Plus, any issues with a bike you purchase from them, you take it back and they take care of it. Not sure how far that policy goes, but I'm sure it's anything within reason. I would not expect that they repair a bike I take off a cliff and destroy. Looking forward to being a long-time customer and I'll update my review in the future when I go in for maintenance or service, but so far, so good! read more

Bought an x-caliber 7 from them. Brought it home then decided to have them set it up again (wasn't shifting right and the spokes came loose) so I made an appointment and brought it back for setup. All seemed good and well until my second ride. It was improperly set up and the front deraileur was loose and went in to the front chain ring. It shattered the deraileur and the deraileur or chain gouged the heck out of the frame and now I can't ride how I want to. The frame is weakened and I'm afraid to do any large drops with it. I brought it to campus bicycle who fixed the deraileur but they can't do anything about the frame... So now I have a thousand dollar bicycle that I can only ride like a hundred dollar bike. Thanks carl hart bicycles. Also when I dropped it off to them they seemed pissed. Like service wasn't worth it to them, they'd rather be selling than taking care of their customers. The gouge is much deeper than the photo shows. It's almost through the metal. read more

(as if all railings were only of aluminum, or) Had Carl Hart just chosen not to speak about Carbon Fiber [Clamp (that has) Railing, because "Carl Hart" perceived there was no importance in the 'TORQUE' --- hence tightening of such? My husband and I just needed our mountain bikes serviced. We thought that for the price they charged ($125 per bike), the bikes would at least be wiped down a bit. And they had the bikes for a week. Within the first minute of our ride, my husband had to pull over and reattach his chains. Definitely not going back there. read more

Been going to this guys for over a decade and their service just keeps getting better, wish I could find a shop like this in the city. They are never ever pushy or try to up-sell me. They have helped me out countless times with straight-up bike advice, service and gear selection. Besides having excellent sales people their mechanics are top notch. I beat-up my bikes regularly - riding in all weather with little self maintenance, but when something breaks these guys can usually get me back on the trail/road at minimal cost and parts. Instead of recommending a whole drive-train replacement they get me back on the road quickly with an explanation and demo of what I need for optimal riding. I highly recommend these guys not only for the service they provide me but also because of the service I have witnesses they give to other customers. Finally, a lot of bike shops could learn a ton from these guys customer service. read more

I bought my first mountain bike, a Trek Marlin, and the salesman Brian was very knowledgeable about the bikes they sell, and helping me to make a selection based on my budget. A week after I bought the bike, I had some difficulty with my ride comfort. I talked to Brian, and he stopped what he was doing, and made several adjustments on my bike which definitely improved my ride. I bought a second Trek mountain bike for my wife a couple of months later, and she was happy that they let her test ride a couple of bikes. Due to an arm injury she has restricted movement in one arm, and being able to test ride the bike allowed her to select the right frame size and bike. I highly recommend them! read more

Bought a Raleigh Venture 3.0 from Carl Hart a few years ago. Every year the chain would fall off as I rode it, and when I reattached the chain, the gears would slip. Every. Year. The first year this happened I brought it back to Carl Hart where the repairman suggested the problem was due to "rider error." Ummm, no. I know when to switch gears and when not to switch gears, and I rode the bike outside the store to prove I knew how to ride it. The second year it happened I was told the bike just needed its "annual tune-up." Doesn't sound right, but okay. The third year it happened, the repairman said the reason why is because my bike was being vandalized. Don't think so, buddy. Just admit you sold me a "lemon." I recommend everyone use a different bike shop. read more

I picked up my Trek Dual Sport II this afternoon from Carl Hart. I had to pre order it several weeks ago.I did most of my communication with Eric. Eric was with me through the whole process. He called me last week to let me know that our bike was still expected late November but the same model in a different color was due in within a week. I accepted that order. This was my first visit to Carl Hart. When we arrived this afternoon the were doing outside business. Well organized and so Friendly is how I can put it!!!! Wow........ we were greeted and and witching 5 minutes I was test riding the bike and and then on our way home!!!! Friendly and knowledgable is what we found. As a new owner I will receive 1 year of of free checkups which was a nice surprise. BTW, I've been in the retail business for 50 years. Customer service is what it is all about. Carl Hart gets it. Carl Hart always takes good care of me. They always try to work within my very limited budget, whether it's parts or accessories, or repairs. Even a fitting on a bike they didn't even sell me! Brought my bike in for a standard tune up (wheels needed truing, some rear derailleur adjustments) and caliper brake pad replacements. Was in a rush when I picked it up so I didn't have time to ride it around in the parking lot. Rode it the next day and the old pads were still on there, wheels was still outta whack, along with the derailleur. Paid $130 for apparently nothing. Go ANYWHERE else. read more

Rude, arrogant worker but not Brian, Brian was awesome. So I was in search of a replacement seat for my new peloton bike so I called & spoke with a guy named Brian on the phone. Brian was pleasant and very helpful and happy to answer all my questions so I decided to give the place a try. When I got there I asked for Brian but I was told that he was on lunch by a short gentleman in his early 40s who had an heir of undeserving arrogance to him who gave me a smart ass answer to my reasonable question. Being that I was so eager to find a good seat I stuck it out & went with a seat he recommended for me to take home & try that ended up being more uncomfortable than the seat that came with the bike. When I went back I explained to him again where the pain was coming from and this time he was just slightly sarcastic with his response in asking me if I sat in the area of the seat he had instructed me to. I did end up leaving with a seat that works but this guy's attitude rubbed me the wrong way so I wanted to make sure I wrote a review. read more

Not only did they have me get on the bike and measure what I needed but they also fitted the part while I waited. I was also given other valuable advice on how to take care of the bike chain. I normally buy my bicycles here due to convenience, in spite of the fact that they're normally a bit more expensive than other bicycle stores I've been to out of state. I kept having spokes on my bike break. They dealt with it, and I didn't have to pay for the repairs. I think they got the manufacturer to pay for it, but I was still happy not to have to pay. read more

Originally went to get a entry level mtb saw a 1300 dollar trek I really liked the salesman assured me it was the right size so I reluctantly purchased it . It always felt a little to big but not unreasonable till I started trying some black diamond trails where I had an extremely unpleasant experience introducing my crotch to the top tube on a difficult hill climb went back with my gripe to Carl hart and was rudely addressed and talked to like I was an idiot . Since this happened I did a lot of research online and spoke to a few other bike shop owners and professional bike techs and this bike size was absolutely the wrong size for me .
