    Lamb Chops with French Fries
    Darren S.

Absolutely delicious! For appetizers, we had some middle-eastern delicacis: Fried Halloumi, arayes, and some hummus with pita. All of these apps were delicious! The halloumi was squeaky and salty. The arayes reminded me of a Mediterranean quesadilla (minus the cheese), and hummus any time is a good time. I had gone with a group (about 7+), and ordered the lambchops ($25). It came with four pieces, some vegetable, and the option of either rice, lentils, or fries. As you can see in the photo, I had opted for the french-fry option. I did get a chance to try the lentils from a friend, and have to say, the lentils, too, were delicious! They had a yummy, caramalized onion, deep flavor. I asked the server in what preparation the lamb would taste best, and she said "medium-well". It was indeed, the best way to have eaten it. After, we had a small cake we brought, and the servers were nice enough to sing Happy Birthday. We finished the evening ordering some hot teas and coffees, which were absolutely amazing. The coffee is a deep, not bitter, and very espresso-like. The residue remains at the bottom of the cup. 5/5

Looks like we're in the dining area of a house, very cute. There's even an enclosed outdoor area. But it was too hot to sit outside ;) There was a large party taking up half the space. Luckily we made reservations. They were pretty boisterous. Service was excellent. Susan was very helpful as we've never had Armenian food. Bedros (not sure of the spelling) was on point clearing plates and getting extra plates, utensils etc. Considering such a large party they still came to check on us regularly. :) When we sat down they brought us basket of pitas and a plate of , , pickled cabbage and pickled banana pepper. This was so good, much better than just boring bread and butter! I don't know what kind of cheese it was but I really liked it. I don't usually like unknown but hubby will eat any kind of LoL We ordered: Armenian - this was really good! We each had 2 cups :D Kibbehs - nice and crispy on the outside and meaty on the inside, wasn't too doughy like other places Sujuk - Armenian Sausage - delicious! The stew like tomato on top gave the sausage a nice juiciness, might have felt dry without it, nicely complements the sausage Yalanji - Grape Leaves - one of the best I've had! Had to get an extra order to take home :D Okra with Mujadara - was only on the lunch menu but as our friend is vegetarian, they made an exception for him and he enjoyed the Okra and Lentil Rice Rack of Lamb - hubby loved the lamb, I'm not a lamb fan but it was flavorful. And hubby loved the Lentil Rice Grilled Salmon - I've had over cooked salmon in some very upscale restaurants so was surprised this was perfectly cooked over a bed of spinach which itself was very good. I didn't like the Lentil Rice to me it was too sweet, and clashed with my salmon, hubby was happy to take it off my plate LOL Definitely worth a try. It's similar to other middle eastern cuisine but there's just enough of a difference to warrant a try. :)

This place was absolutely delicious! Everything we had was fresh and well cooked. We happened to come here because we were hungry and didn't want to wait for the restaurant across the street. So glad we came bc we were done eating by the time we'd have gotten a seat at the other place. We had hummus, falafel and arayis to start. Entrees included lamb shawarma platter, kebab combo with shrimp and filet mignon, luleh kabob platter, rack of lamb. Dessert were a perfect finish and not too heavy. I forgot the name of the rolled pastry with sweet cheese inside but it was my favorite! Great service too even on a busy night.

Kebab Combo 3, a great mix!

My friend selected Krichian's for our monthly ethnic food outing. Since I had just been there with my family, I knew we were in for a great dinner. We went with the dip sampler, sujuk, monte, chi kofte, and Kebab 3 platter with rice. Plenty of delicious food. Chi Kofte was a highlight for me, an Armenian version of steak tartare. It was amazing how much raw beef you can consume when it's tasty. Everything they have is excellent. I will keep returning to Krichian's.

Wow!!! It's my first time dining here and I'll definitely be back. We came as a huge group and ordered a bunch of appetizers and entrees to share. The food here was delicious and flavorful. They have a lot of middle eastern dishes to choose from and you can't go wrong with whatever you select! I highly recommend the hummus, babaganoush, fetoush salad, combo platter and French fries. A great restaurant near Paterson!

Since 2010, Krichian's Mediterranean Grill and Bistro (399 Crooks Avenue, Paterson, NJ) has been serving up delicious Mediterranean and Armenian meals. You can eat-in, in their cozy dining room (a dinner entree might cost you around $15-$20, a salad might cost around $8). Or you can pick up food to go. (They were offering take-out service long before the pandemic forced so many restaurants to do so.) And they will also do catering, if you desire that service. (In fact, proprietors Anahid and Aram Krichian were doing catering out of a little luncheonette they ran, even before they opened the present restaurant in 2010.) I like their cooking a lot, and the personal warmth of the people working there. (It has a good "family business" kind of feel.) And if I'm in the neighborhood, I can stop in and quickly pick up some food to take home for dinner. I might pick up some grape leaves or grilled vegetables or im-judhura (a Middle Eastern meal, made with lentils, bulghur wheat, and onions). And bring home a satisfying meal for about $10. When my Mom was gravely ill in the hospital and had no appetite for hospital-food, I could bring her food from Krichian's, and she'd smile broadly at the sight of it, and eat every bit of it. She loved their im-judhura, which tasted exactly the way my Mom--and her Mom before her--would make it. My Mom would say, "This is such authentic Syrian food. The woman who cooked this must be from Syria, like our family. Give her my compliments." I told her that the Krichian's are actually Armenian. My Mom would say, "Well, they sure know how to cook, Syrian style!" And that was high praise indeed.

Everything was delicious, but I'll leave the food writing to the Yelpers with more sophisticated palates than I. (Actually, I take that back--the fresh-baked pita was amazing and I would eat it with/for every meal if I could.) The real reason I wanted to leave a review the service, which went above and beyond. Let me start by saying that Al Basha takeout has a wonderfully efficient order-number-based system for managing the hundreds of orders they get on a daily basis. But if, say, the person who placed the order sent you to pick up the food with the wrong order number, you're going to struggle, and that's not the restaurant's fault. With that prelude and without getting into the details, we'll just say there was a user error issue with my order that led to a mix-up and a very late pick-up. Everyone from the Al Basha staff with whom I interacted could not have handled it any better. They were very apologetic, not because they did anything wrong (to be clear, they didn't), but because they were disappointed our meal hadn't gone well and wanted to fix that. The top priority of the manager with whom I dealt was making sure that my wife--it was Mothers' Day--got the best meal possible, and made sure to send me home with fresh bread and a treat for the moms. It was true hospitality, and greatly appreciated. TLDR version: great food, excellent service, out-of-this-world pita, and make darned sure you have the right order number.

The chicken kebab was dry and the shawarma was a bit too sour for my liking (not sure if they squeezed lemon on it or something). The kofta was okay but nothing spectacular. The filet mignon, was a major let down. My server didn't ask how we'd like it cooked, which is medium rare for my family. It came back well done. He said everyone usually prefers it to be well done, but I think that's a mistake that shouldn't be made and preference should always be asked, especially with steak. We asked for it to be swapped, and it still came back well done. When we let them know again, they brought it back a little on the rare side, which is fine for my family, but had it been another family, not so sure. I'm sure they have hundreds of orders for the char grilled meets, so I'm a little confused on why the technique has not already been established My favorite dish had to be the makanik - which is pan seared lamb sausages finished with sweet and tangy pomegranate molasses. I usually don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor but these sausages didn't have that. I didn't taste much of the pomegranate molasses. The arugula & beet salad would've been good if the pomegranate molasses vinaigrette was less sweet. The stuffed grape leaves were also a bit too sour. The lemon was just taking over the entire flavor profile. I didn't really taste the tomato or parsley. The falafel platter was good but nothing different than other falafels that I've had. The mint lemonade was so refreshing. Almost everyone in the restaurant had one and I understand why. The mint is not overpowering I had high expectations because I've seen this place on instagram but I'm afraid they were not met. Service was good, but the food definitely needs some work. There's valet parking, which i recommend because it's hard to find street parking

The quzi is lamb shank with rice and comes with either bean or okra soup. I liked the okra soup better since it had some acidity from the tomatoes. The lamb shank was very tender but I wish it came with some sauce or lemon. The rice is a bit sweet due to the rasins. As I entered the restaurant, I was impressed with the attractive interior and even more so impressed with their viral coffee bar. With so many flavors to choose ranging from pistachio to coconut cloud, I decided to choose the strawberry matcha latte (and it was hard to make a decision). When server Ana placed this iced beverage in front of me, it was love at first sip. The appearance alone instantly caught my eye. Its red, white, and green colors are a perfect fit on a hot summer day. Unfortunately, I had to stir this drink for maximum flavor which altered the appearance; thankfully, I took the photo shot before I started stirring. The ice cubes in this drink made it difficult to stir with the plastic straw, but I was offered a spoon. Although I felt there was a tad bit too much ice in this drink, the combination of strawberry puree, milk, and premium matcha was very refreshing. For an up charge, I added strawberry whipped foam to enhance the flavor even more. When I next return to explore their other signature lattes, I will remember to request less ice which will simply the stirring. #yasmeenmediterranean #yasmeencresskill #strawberrymatchalatte

The place had a decent amount of customers for a weekday. We sat in the front dining area where there was a large TV, good for watching the game (in our case, the world cup). The place was clean and server was friendly. We ordered 3 lunch specials that included the fattoush (house salad), mouhamarra, labneh, shish tawook (grilled chicken with rice pilaf), kufta kebab, and mint lemonade. Honestly for food, my average rating for everything would be closer to 3.5/5. The pita bread that came with the table was room temp and served in a plastic bag. I would have liked it to be at least warmed up a little before being brought out. The sides and dips were average. They lacked flavor and depth in my opinion- the labneh was simply plain, sour yogurt without any other flavor. The mouhamarrah was also average, it was a bit spicy and that was about it. Standouts from our table that were very well executed were the lentil soup, shish tawook, and yasmeen fries. The lentil soup came out steaming hot, and was very nicely seasoned. I liked that it came with crispy pieces to add texture. The shish tawook surprised me as it didnt look super special, but it was actually very good! The chicken was juicy, fell apart easily, and had that nice grill flavor. It went well with the rice and vegetables. The yasmeen fries were hot and crispy, the garlic seasoning was a very nice touch. I would've liked if my mint lemonade had more mint flavor in it but perhaps that was my bad for not ordering the slush version. The portions were pretty generous, 19.95 is a fair price for all the food we received. Overall, we had a nice experience and am glad we got to try the place out.
