Zaffron Bloom in Hasbrouck Heights, NJ. I found the ultimate hidden gem! It's very hard to find an authentic Persian restaurant in NJ has to be on your list-it is a family owned restaurant, everything is made with the freshest ingredients to serve Modern Persian Cuisine with a Middle-Terranean twist! They are also BYOB and family owned! It was my first time trying Persian food, so I didn't know what to expect! The moment I took my first bite of the Kebab "Barg" ... my tongue started to dance then my shoulders! The same thing happened for the Kebab Koobideh. Did I mention the Zaffron Rice?! My goodness the flavors were bold, fragrant, and completely unforgettable! THAT dinner so good, I went on a little food adventure a few days after across Manhattan, trying a few different Persian spots just to see if anything could compare. While some were decent, none of them matched what I had at Zaffron. It made me realize that if I want the REAL DEAL, I have to make the trip to Jersey. My friend and I loved it so much, we made it our little tradition to visit once every season! Zaffron = Welcoming atmosphere! Impeccable Service! A menu that keeps pulling me back! If you've never tried or want to taste the best Persian cuisine, this is the place to start!

Food was amazing. Owners were so so nice. Sumac fries and sauce were delicious and so flavorful. Combo platter was filling and meats were very tasty. Such a great spot. Mint lemonade is a must try, so yummy.

I actually happened to find this place because another restaurant was closed that I wanted to try on a Friday night. I'm very happy I got to try Zafron Bloom. In one word - flavor. Everything we had so much delicious fresh seasonings and packed with a punch. My boyfriend and I started with some fun drinks we've never tried. The sour Cherry drink was great, he tried the Persian lemonade and loved it too. We started with the dip trio and tried the hummus, lebne and an eggplant dip and they were all fabulous. We are the whole bowl of pita trying them all. For dinner I got the chicken kebab wrap and was a little worried it would be a plain and boring option but it was delicious. It came with a tzaziki dipping sauce but I barely needed it, the sauce on the wrap was perfect on its own. My boyfriend got kebabs and came with the famous saffron rice. The chicken was cooked to perfection. I am always a little weary to get chicken at any Mediterranean place, it's always either undercooked or overcooked, but this was truly perfection. Highly recommend trying a chicken skewer. With no room left for dessert there, we got some baklava to go and tried it the next day. Truly probably the best baklava I've ever had. I'll definitely be back to try out more menu items and of course get more baklava. Street parking is easy. The interior of the restaurant is small but it wasn't incredibly packed when we went on a Friday night which I'm sure will change as they get busier and more well-known. They were also very busy with takeout orders but everything flowed smoothly. It's definitely a family running this restaurant and you can tell. They are so nice and kind, they also kept bringing us samples of their crunchy rice - which was delicious. I'll be back!

I dream about going back. Entire dining experience was so perfect. Thing I would not skip out on: variety of saffron rice (we ordered several and they plate it for you) - sooo delicious. The balance of flavors with the saffron, sweet barberries and basmati is perfection. Also enjoyed the combination platter, salmon and crispy rice. Lamb, chicken and beef kebabs all incredibly flavorful and cooked to perfection. We were obsessed with their refreshments. Incredible mint lemonades with chia, pomegranate and many more to choose from. What made the experience even better is that it's a family owned business which gave patrons an energy that matched the cuisine. They were so sweet to my toddler and made us feel at home. We will be back many times and intend to eat everything on the menu in the next few months. Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

We started with the grilled octopus that had delicious seasoning with mix of olive oil and red wine vinegar. The complimentary bread was fluffy, accompanied perfectly with the octopus. The branzino was a flavorful filet, well cooked. The side of spinach was well made too. I loved the lamb kokinisto (from specials menu). The meat was so tender and the sauce was incredible. I just kept taking bites and eventually finished the whole bowl. At the end I took the rice pudding to go and loved the taste of it. Turkish cuisine is a unique combination of flavors, spices, and herbs developed over thousands of years, influenced by the Central Asian nomads and Arabic, Persian, Italian, French, and Eastern European cultures. The town of Carlstadt has mainly residential private homes, with a spattering of condos and garden apartments. The main shopping area is all of about three blocks long on both sides of the street. Translated from the Turkish language, meaning sultan, we have come to this family-owned/family-run establishment located on Hackensack Street since 2006 for Saturday dinner. The reservation was easily made by Google Assistant. Upon entering this hidden gem called Hünkar Restaurant as first-timers, my partner, our friends, and I were greeted by the staff inside a cozy room, where ethnic pictures and decorations as well as the music all add to the vibe. A great view of the NYC skyline is visible from their enclosed back patio. Their menu features Mediterranean and Turkish cuisine with a modern twist and serves alcohol. As an appetizer, we decided on the Kibbeh (Icli Kofte), Calamari (Kalamar), and Cigarette Borek (Sigara Boregi). For our main meal, we opted for Chicken Saute (Taouk Sote), Shrimp Kebab, Lamb Shish Kebab (Kuzu Sis Kebab), and Chicken Shish Kebab (Tavuk Kebab). All Kebab meal accompanied by rice, char-grilled tomatoes, peppers, and a small salad. Warm, fluffy pida bread with a crisp crust started our meal. Every dish bursts with authentic flavor and is beautifully presented, from the fact that Turkish families from all over the area eat here. The staff is warm, welcoming, and very professional; our server was Akincan "John," the owners' son. The price was comparable to the area with the right portion. We can recommend this place.

They were pushing us to order everything family style, but everyone wanted to order individually. The two of us weren't super hungry, and asked for our entrees to be on a separate check before ordering, which they would not do. Since I knew we were going to end up splitting the check with the one table, I ended up getting a more expensive entree to make up for the apps and drinks we weren't having (I already had a drink from the bar and my husband doesn't drink). I settled on the special lobster carbonara (which I think was $75). Good, but overpriced. My husband had the filet mignon - it was cooked as requested but we prefer more seasoning. A friend passed her grilled scallops over to us to finish - I took one bite and it tasted like ammonia. I discreetly spat it out. For her sake, I hope the rest didn't taste like that. The atmosphere was loud and hard to have conversations. They did a conga line around the restaurant later in the evening. Not really my scene. Service was slow and it didn't seem like they could handle big groups, even when split up. We ended up staying here for about 3 hours. We ended up leaving before we were even offered dessert. Also, keep in mind they have valet parking.

It's quick, affordable, and iconic. If you've had the cart version - very likely during a lunchtime rush eagerly awaiting a fresh hot-off-the-grill platter while standing in line with salivating hunger, or stumbling around NYC streets late at night in a state of cheerful inebriation - you probably won't be able to retrieve the same satisfaction from the limbic recesses of your brain, as that particular alchemy of anticipation, irresistible street food scent, and a dash of city chaos is not something that can be bottled in a more domesticated experience. So no, the franchise concept into a fast-casual sit-in restaurant won't replicate the Halal Guys of your memory. But what you do get is a more dignified dining experience involving tables, chairs, and climate control. It's the food cart equivalent of realizing one actually appreciates concert venues with seats. Not saying the GA floor pit wasn't fun, but having crossed over into comfortable suburbanite territory, I've made peace with my lack of desire to stand in long lines or eat my food sitting on a curb. We came here after shopping at the Costco located in the same plaza, and ordered a chicken platter, beef gyro platter, waffle fries, and a mango citrus refresher. The meat was a touch cold and the protein portion leans modest, but it was non-greasy, and piled with the salad fixin's and pita bread, made for a balanced and filling meal. The waffle fries are amazing! Perfectly crispy on the outside and pillowy on the inside, and a good size for the price. And the hot sauce is legitimately spicy (bless!), so get it on the side if you want to moderate the heat level I had no idea Halal Guys grew into a restaurant franchise from its humble street cart days and am glad to know about this place!
