We contracted with Kring's in early February '25 to retrofit our originally wood-burning fireplace with a gas insert. The initial visit went well, but were originally told by the salesman when we signed the proposal that "Limerick Township does not require permits". He was emphatic that "only one township has ever required us to get a permit". We were also told that by the gentleman that came out to do the site visit on 3/8. That turns out to be a bold-faced lie. I just didn't see how any township would let a contractor cut into or modify a gas line, nor run electrical line, without a permit. And low and behold, that is EXACTLY what I was told by our township Code department. Just to "pressure test" that, I called every code office in a 25 mile radius and WITHOUT EXCEPTION, every single one requires a permit to install a gas fireplace insert to retrofit an existing wood-burning fireplace. Every one of them. When Kring's was informed of this, multiple times I overheard that "permits should be the homeowner's responsibility to pull". How can a layperson homeowner fill out those forms? Plus, it is the CONTRACTOR'S work that is being reviewed and approved for Code compliance. I know damn well what went down because I've seen it before - Kring's simply did not want to pull permits because it is a pain in the neck, and inspector oversite is also a pain in the neck, so lying to the client is the "easy way out". And I get that. But look at it from the homeowner's side (at least those with a conscience); I don't want to pay more in terms of permit fees, sure, but I get to sleep at night knowing it was inspected and done according to code. Was Kring's gonna bail me out if we didn't get permits and some nosy neighbor called me on it, which doubles the permit fees after the fact in most townships? Oh, and my insurance agent said that if we do unpermitted work and a fire investigation shows that work to be the root cause, he told me that the probability of a declined insurance claim is "99.999%". Would Krings have paid to rebuild the house, if we even survived the blast? Places like this also just don't get the fact that, other than OBEYING THE LAW, they would have been more efficient. We were told that this would be a "4 hour job". But in reality: 1. Gas line install - 2 guys for 4 hours, then instead of the gas inspector being lined up to be on site, he needed to be scheduled for the next day. 2. Electric line install - 2 guys for about 3 hours a few weeks later, then, you guessed it, "I think all we need is a final inspection, he will be out tomorrow, the township waived the electrical inspection". 3. Kring's is back out the next day, 1 guy for an hour or so, with the "final inspection" inspector who, yup, says "where's the electrical inspection? No U and O before you get that". 4. Kring's is back the following week with the electrical inspector who, you guessed it, found the electrical work OUT OF COMPLIANCE with current codes and needs a part. Another man-hour down the drain. 5. Kring's is back out later that week to finish the electrical work CORRECTLY, with the electrical inspector. Another man-hour down the drain. So that's around 17 man-hours, SEVEN total visits to my house over nearly 3 months, and Kring's is left with a pissed-off ex-customer WHO WAS LIED TO. I've offered to have a conversation with the GM there to align and gain insight, and maybe save the relationship. You guessed it...crickets. So...Kring's gets 1 star! read more

Lousy company. My fireplace remote broke and is no longer available. I called months ago to have some one come out to replace the remote. they like to play phone tag. if you're not glued to your phone they leave a message to call back, then no one's available but will call you back. Two weeks later you get a phone call and it starts all over again. Finally I was available when they called. They did'nt have my correct name or what I needed done. I had to explain it to hIm. He proceeded to tell me $75 for an inspection and the $195 an hour. Highway robbery. Horrible, horrible company. There are much better companies out there who have much better customer service and dont charge outrageous fees. read more

He unloaded 2 tons of pellets quickly stacked them nicely in my garage and was a very friendly kid. If you need wood pellets delivered I would highly recommend this business!!! read more

They provided a unique install of a pellet stove years ago, so we've stuck with them for cleaning service and pellet delivery. We encountered huge service issues in 2021 which resulted in the need for four repeat visits to get it right due to them showing up without the proper equipment or number of hands needed to complete the job even though we properly communicated that when we originally booked. We paid several service charges until they got it right, and are still paying on electric bills needed during the time they couldn't come through for us. We called to book in June 2022 (due to them knowing our build and history only) and booked for Sept 15th. On Sept 14th they called us to tell us they refuse to service us any longer leaving us to find another provider in peak season without warning and having to pay premium pricing. When asked to speak to the owner we were laughed at. When reminded that the difficulties stem from their own install, we were told "ugh, here we go again" and then we were hung up on. Please be very wary of this business as they clearly have no respect for human decency or ethical business behavior. Their decision impacts the heating of a home for five. read more

We purchased our pellet stove in 2015. I oh he the years, the customer service has gone down the tubes. Rude employees on the phone. No one gets out of their seat to help you. They stopped helping load pellets and now they decide they work sell pellets by the bag. That if they have them in stock. Glad to take the business elsewhere. Heading to the Stove Shop where the woman was super sweet on the phone, they sell by the bag, open until 4 on a Saturday and have the ones our stove works best with IN stock! read more

We purchased our stove at Kings and they were the only ones to service it. We were very happy with their services until their last visit when they fixed our igniter but they were not able to put our stove back together. Well let me tell you if you buy a stove from them you think its all great. They service my stove every year, last year they did not bring the proper tools, had to come back the next day was charged TWICE!!! Today I called them now I got my stove in 2007 the vent attached to the side of my home is coming down, you can clearly see where the screw is away from the house as is the silicone that holds the unit. I can see the inside of my wall, so my worry is water damage of course. Guess what again this was their install and it didn't last , they want to charge me again to come out to repair their FAULTY work, and I don't want to hear wear and tear BS. $95 plus the hourly rate and parts. YOU have NO customer service skills you sell and don't care about servicing your customers for your work without trying to rock them. Will never recommend you to anyone. read more

They were awesome. no pressure, lots of knowledge. Had me out the door with a replacement wood pellet stove. Told me how to hook it up. Way too easy. The stove is easy to use, cranks out the heat with a Huge hopper. And it was less than I was expecting to pay. read more

Kring's has been to my home more than 3 times trying to fix a Heat and Glo fireplace. It blew up in the workers hands, and then he proceeded to yell that it was my fault for faulty wiring. It seemed to me that he was very worried that he might have to pay for the part. His behavior was accusatory and rude, to say the least. As it turned out, according to the manual, it was wired perfectly fine. Krings took absolutely no responsibility for the accident and proceeded to insist that I pay the full amount (about $400) and all the labor hours (many) to fix this. NOW, after two month, multiple visits and nearly a thousand dollars later, the entire fireplace does not work AT ALL! They are refusing to come out to fix it at all. They have been rude and only seem to care about the cost of things, not about getting things done right. I do NOT recommend them at all! Not for cleaning, not for fixing. read more

Had to get another company to come out and do a proper cleaning on unit..they missed alot..and price was not fair...tried to over charge.I wouldn't recommend this business to anyone.. Several years ago we bought a wood stove for our basement at Kring's Hearth & Home, and last year went went back to buy a pellet insert for our family room. Matt was extremely helpful both times, and he is an expert in all aspects of his entire product line. On both occasions, his installation team was professional, clean and got the job quickly. They are thoroughly trained and get the job done right. Recently they came back to clean the pellet insert and when I walked into the family room after they were finished I was amazed to see the insert looking brand new, both inside and out. We live in a fairly large two-story house with electric heat which was never warm, yet ran constantly. The pellet insert alone really warms up the entire place, and the heating system barely ran last winter! I would never buy anywhere else, and we refer all of our friends and family to Kring's. read more

Go elsewhere! The owner actually showed us around the showroom. We were replacing our older wood stove & told Matt exactly what we area we needed to heat. The stove he recommended had absolutely no heat output. A rep came from the store & said the type of wood we were using was the problem. We've been burning wood for 31 yrs. We went somewhere else & purchased another wood stove & now are stuck with this very expensive, inefficient stove. read more
