We stopped by this location to grab some donuts. From the time I parked and got back in the car, I was in and out in less than five minutes. Super fast service, even though there was no one in there, but the staff wasn't overly friendly. We were softly greeted and then asked what we needed. We live right near a Krispy Kreme location and it is absolutely dangerous to be so close. Of all the donut spots in town, Krispy Kreme is still the donut shop to which all other donut shops are measured against, for me. I am a purist and the best Krispy Kreme donuts to get (in my opinion) are just the classic original glazed, the glazed with chocolate icing, and the filled Chocolate Iced (but only with the fluffy Kreme filled, not Custard). When you hear "original glazed" that probably sounds boring and not too fancy, but the glaze they use is expertly coated on a soft little flaky donut. It makes it taste all delicately made and you almost feel bad biting into the perfectly coated icing (but not too bad that you don't scarf it all down). What a lot of other donut shops do nowadays is put seventy thousand toppings on each donut, making it way too sweet and hard to eat around all those toppings. Krispy Kreme does do a few little collab menu items every once in a while, but they always have their normal tasty offerings, so you can skip the fancy ones and still be happy. The one special menu I wanted to try recently was the partnership with Biscoff. I fly a LOT, and always horde the Biscoff cookies (ask for extras, take my husband's, etc), so I definitely wanted to try these. They definitely had a lot of Biscoff flavor, with some having crumbled Biscoff cookies on them even. My favorite was the most simple here too. The glazed donut with Biscoff Cookie Butter icing. So simple but yummy with the added Biscoff flavor in a thin topping instead of all the junk on top. They also recently started offering mini versions of their classic assorted donuts, so you can eat five and not feel bad (I never feel bad anyway when it comes to Krispy Kreme LOL) Krispy Kreme has been around forever - and ever since I've been going there, the quality has never dipped. The fall menu recently brought me back to Krispy Kreme after a long absence. I love their pumpkin spice cake doughnut. I also had a bite of their strawberry frosted. I'd forgotten that Krispy Kreme is more generous with their frosting than their chain competitor. It's also more flavorful. Strawberry actually tastes like strawberry frosting, instead of just sugar. I understand that people are understaffed but when I get in line at 7:15 for donuts to make it to work by 8... I shouldn't be waiting for an hour for donuts. They don't have their lobby open so you can't go inside to try and pass the long line in your car. It's a shame they're not more KK's in west Omaha. This location is quite the jaunt from anywhere north of Dodge St. However, they do always deliver on tasty sugarcoated goodness. I don't recommend going in the afternoon, the donuts lose their soft flaky feel and get a little hard and gooey. It doesn't not stop me from enjoying but, I try to get there early. I also believe the coffee is some of the most flavorful I've had. Service is pretty good, friendly staff. It does get pretty crazy inside as it's very narrow but theres always a few staff members helping patrons. I felt the need to review Krispy Kreme, and this location in particular, because they have been a huge bright spot during this pandemic. First they did the buy one share one dozen on Saturdays, then $13 double dozens, and the $5 chocolate glazed dozens. If you join their rewards program, there's almost always a special. Everyone is always wearing PPE, and the drivethru is usually pretty quick. I've done DoorDash twice through the KK website now. First time it was on time, but the order was completely wrong. I called the store and the they refunded my whole order. Second time, everything was perfect. I should also mention I got them delivered at 8 AM on the weekend, and I'm in Elkhorn. Great contactless delivery, and my kids love getting surprise donuts off the porch!!! I'll gladly pay 5 bucks for delivery, and you can add a tip to the order as well. Almost forgot to review the actual donuts! The minis they have come in a 16 count box, and are the PERFECT size for my kids. I love it when they have chocolate glazed Friday's on the the first Friday of the month , they're my favorite. And I'm a sucker for when they have special flavors like fruits. Never got a response from KK. *** Not a food problem, but a customer service problem = 1 star. Went in today since I had a craving for KK and decided to get a dozen for the weekend. The initial sale was just fine inside the store. At home, when husband grabbed box out of car, it being flimsy, fell apart and spilled all the doughnuts all over the back area of the vehicle and on seats and floor. The box was not taped. Pics of car mess included. He decided to drive another 20 mile round trip to replace them, even though I said don't bother. So he goes in the 2nd time and explained what happened due to flimsy box. Different guy at that point says he has to "see the box." Huh? Husband never thought to bring the messy, dilapitated box to the store. He had the receipt in his pocket though; but it wasn't good enough. So, he orders another box and pays again and babies the box all the way home and into the house. They don't tape them, nor provide a sturdy box, so move at your own risk! Also, the top of the box tends to touch the decorated doughnuts at times, so the boxes could be a bit higher to ensure a nice presentation for whevever you are taking them. Drove many miles, two round trips and spent about $18 to get a dozen of doughnuts. Also peeved the store didn't think a receipt was proof enough of sale and that customers are just basically lying to get freebies. Maybe this store has people that come in and try to get freebies any way they can, but I assure you we are *not that customer.* Did the guy really think customers would bring back a messy box with chocolate, jimmies and cream all over it back to the store? Never would have occurred to us to dig it out of our trash can in the garage and bring it to the store! My goodness... zero for customer service. Did they think we'd put 40 miles on the car to get one free box of doughnuts? Store policy is one thing, but having common sense and decency is another. My advice: get employees with appropriate CS skills and improve the boxes. Also, don't assume a customer is a liar looking for free doughnuts!!!! Penny-wise and pound foolish. The female manager is absolutely horrendous. Does not know how to talk to employees, or customers for that matter. It is never okay to YELL at your employees, especially over the smallest things, and in front of customers at that. Always snippy, full of attitude, and just nasty to everyone around her.
