I'm glad I gave this place a second chance, because the first time I went, I bought a dozen and they were all bleh. The last time I stopped in, though, I specifically inquired which were freshest, and purchased those (two plain glazed and a chocolate cake Huskers doughnut), and they tasted good, but still not my favorite doughnut due to the density of the dough. The first time I stopped by, the doughnuts were all stale, and the vanilla-glazed was super stale; you can see how the icing has broken in the picture, it's been sitting out so long. The regular doughnuts and the cake doughnuts were way too close texturally due to the staleness of the dough, and the plain doughnuts' dough consistency, which is thicker than normal at Hurts. You can see in the picture where the doughnuts are cut and stacked together how similar the consistency is between cake and regular. But the flavor was where it was lacking: parched, dry, crumbly (the regular doughnuts), and stale, flagging flavor in the cake doughnuts. The toppings, I will say, were still good (thanks to the preservative power of sugar!), but the doughnut's kind of the bread and butter of a doughnut place, no? Anyway, they all went into the trash. :(( The second time I went, having asked about fresh ones, the flavor was good and the texture way better. But the density of the dough at Hurts is still a bit too thick and toothsome for my preference. I would go here again, and order with caution: better inventory control needs to be established to prevent the kind of experience I had the first time. The ambiance here is really nice, though, and there is ample seating for enjoying treats together. Definitely unique in the doughnut world, and thanks for it! Walked in on a whim on a Saturday morning around mid morning and there was a family ahead of me in line they got through quickly, I ordered 6 donuts, they were unfortunately out of coffee though, out of several donors too, the donuts we did end up with were very good! I was pretty underwhelmed when visiting Hurts Donut. I had suggested to meet a friend there who was visiting from out of town. I hadn't been in this particular space in probably about three years but unfortunately, this location has gone downhill. The donuts that we ordered were fairly stale and we were cautioned not to order, one of our choices because we were told that they were going to be thrown out soon (which I suppose was nice to warn us). The dining space was very disheveled and there were crumbs and bits of trash on the floor and tables. Employees didn't come out at all to clean up the area. There was no coffee available and the soft drink machine was out of order. The women's bathroom wasn't in the best condition either. Lady behind the counter was incredibly rude and could not handle picking the donuts I asked for. They don't have labels on most of their donuts so you have to tell them what you want by description and pointing. Lady grabbed 2 of the wrong donuts and I finally just gave up and said it's fine. Also some how she put an extra donut in my box that I never asked for. Got 5 donuts and only 3 of them were what I asked for. My friend and I went there at 10:00 a.m. there were no Donuts except cake Donuts. Which I do not like at all. We ordered two Donuts and two drinks from the refrigerator. It was $16. I really love the design and creativity they put into each donut. They're very beautiful. But the taste is probably some of the worst donuts i've ever put into my mouth. I had to get some donuts for National donut day! I ended up going to Hurts because they have an expansive selection of donut flavors. They have cake and raised, long johns, filled, etc etc. The taste is good, but not comparable to the price. The menu board said that a half dozen is $11, but I was charged $15 for it at the register. Phenomenal doughnuts at Hurts! Get there early to avoid a long line (there will be a line). They have the biggest apple fritters I have ever seen in my entire life. It's hard to understand how they can make such a colossal fritter taste so good still, but it's also the best apple fritter our family has ever tasted, and my husband is a self proclaimed connoisseur of apple fritters LOL. All the other donuts were a big hit with everyone we shared with. I love the originality of the flavors and the overall quality was super high. A little disappointed for our second visit to this facility, all the coffee machines had out of order signs and there was few selections of donuts. I went to the location in Lincoln a couple of years ago so I was prepared to wait in line. I want to say the menu can be viewed on their Facebook page. So that will help reduce the overwhelm. I agree this Hurts is the hipster place, but the set up is nice, and they have outdoor seating. As far as donuts, the dough is not soft and mushy. I like a dough has some structure to it (but not overcooked, hard, and dry). Come with an open mind and be prepared to try something different. read more

I've heard a lot about Hurts donuts and decided to check it out because it sounds cool and why not! From the photos their donuts look awesome with the different design, looks unique. Walking into Hurts it is a colorful place with different posters of actors and vintage, black and white photos on the walls. There's these cool swing chairs that you can sit on as you wait or eat. They have a big chalk menu with the different specials and donuts you can buy. It was fun looking at the different donuts they have like a Cookie Monster one, banana cream, Snickers, Oreo/cookies n cream, so many options to choose from! They have a helpful menu with the donuts they carry also. The carry gluten-free donuts too. Once I bought a couple of donuts, I had to give them a bite. In my opinion, they were okay. I was sad because the ones I bought were bland and dry and not much flavor except for the items on top. You definitely need milk or some type of beverage because you're in for a sugary kick. In my opinion it's a cool place, don't get me wrong, and they're open late which is nice, but the quality is not for my liking. But what I can say is if you're looking for some cool donut photos, they are picture worthy. read more

I fully understand why Hurts Donuts have a donut ambulance out front. One bite of this donut and my teeth hurt and I'm in a sugar coma. I think that's the point with these donuts. I wouldn't buy on a everyday donut run. I will say they are good but just over the top The Oreo cheesecake donut was awesome but I could never eat that in the morning.
