I've been coming here for 20 years, and absolutely love this place! The owners are very kind. The place is no frills, a very small shop to enter, and get what you need. My absolute favorite is a long John donut, as they make the perfect whipped cream filling! This is unmatched -- believe me, I've tried many others, and they do not compare to the flavor and texture of this donut!! The price point is great as well, today I got four donuts for six dollars. I highly recommend stopping in and trying a few of their items if you haven't!

Omaha lines up for Olsen Bake Shop even when it's single digits!!!! Olsen's deserves it all. We've had a lot of donuts, and none of them come close to Olsen's cake donut. Crispy on the outside & moist on the inside; they're absolutely perfect. These are the local places that need all our love Simply the best!!!!

Get there early for a good assortment! Lots to choose from.My favorites are the fried croissants and the cherry cake donuts. Fabulous! Delicious! Sometimes there is a line out the door, don't let that scare you. Only about 4-5 people inside at a time. It's small. So the line is sometimes outside on the sidewalk. But it moves quickly!

Service was fast and friendly. Always a line outside which is a good sign. Donuts were old fashioned and so good. Frosting and filling was top notch. Cute old building which was easy to find. Cute and cozy.

I stopped by when passing through Omaha and it happened to be national donut day! We tried a bunch of different donuts. The croissant was probably my favorite. All were tasty, just a tad greasy for me. Cute little spot with good variety.

This should say it all... Best donut I've had in a long time. Wow!!! Truly amazing!!!

So so so good. Hard to find good tasting donuts and pastries. You gotta be there right at opening otherwise you miss out...

The BEST kolaches EVER! Donuts were good too! Ok, pastries were good too. They also have breads and cookies, all homemade.

I had read about Olsen Bake Shop while researching where to eat in Omaha and I'm really glad I took the time to stop in. It was a bit out of the way of my hotel, but it's on a main strip and I had a pleasant time walking over. It isn't open too late so you need to get there early. When I arrived, I was the only patron in there and there were three people eager to help me. I ended up ordering a couple of donuts and a kolache (I love kolaches but they're hard to find near me in DC so I was delighted to find them here). The donuts were melt in your mouth fresh and I savored every bite. The kolache itself was great, but the raspberry filling tasted very artificial, which was a letdown. They didn't really have anywhere to sit to eat their treats so I walked down the street and sat on the lawn of a local school. Highly recommend!

A non descriptive outside in a mostly residential near downtown neighborhood, Olsen Bake Shop is a-must stop any morning while in Omaha. Closes at 12:30 pm. Enter and you'll be greeted by a pleasant lady who will quickly and efficiently wait on you. A second lady was preparing baked goods in the back. Everything looks like it might've in the 1960's. Super, Super Clean! The doughnuts are so fresh. The ingredients high quality and delicious. Each doughnut is super light. Cost for one doughnut and several doughnut holes was $1.50. Highly recommended.

#1. Not even close. Olsen's is by far the best, worth every penny, or should I say worth the drive. Great family too!

    How much are the donuts?

$17.00 a dozen. Cash prices are lower than card prices. I can't remember if that was cash price or card (I think it was card price). $1.50 each but a dozen is discounted. by 8 cents.

We got a few of their raised and a giant fritter, so big it's the size of my head! All were super yummy, but I love the thick glaze on the fritter. The last time I stopped in, though, I specifically inquired which were freshest, and purchased those (two plain glazed and a chocolate cake Huskers doughnut), and they tasted good, but still not my favorite doughnut due to the density of the dough. The first time I stopped by, the doughnuts were all stale, and the vanilla-glazed was super stale; you can see how the icing has broken in the picture, it's been sitting out so long. The regular doughnuts and the cake doughnuts were way too close texturally due to the staleness of the dough, and the plain doughnuts' dough consistency, which is thicker than normal at Hurts. You can see in the picture where the doughnuts are cut and stacked together how similar the consistency is between cake and regular. But the flavor was where it was lacking: parched, dry, crumbly (the regular doughnuts), and stale, flagging flavor in the cake doughnuts. The toppings, I will say, were still good (thanks to the preservative power of sugar!), but the doughnut's kind of the bread and butter of a doughnut place, no? Anyway, they all went into the trash. :(( The second time I went, having asked about fresh ones, the flavor was good and the texture way better. But the density of the dough at Hurts is still a bit too thick and toothsome for my preference. I would go here again, and order with caution: better inventory control needs to be established to prevent the kind of experience I had the first time. The ambiance here is really nice, though, and there is ample seating for enjoying treats together. Definitely unique in the doughnut world, and thanks for it! Also, the employees have all been super friendly. Last time, Marcellus helped us, and his good humor and upbeat attitude were so appreciated!

Just plain and simple (and good!) donuts. We have been to Pettit's a lot over the years obviously, but I never thought to review them until now, on our last visit. The interior is simple, just like classic bakeries from my childhood. You can smell the baking donuts and treats and it brings you right back to those memories. Katie was the attendant behind the glass case on our last visit and she was super nice and took care of us even though we didn't know exactly what we wanted when we came in. It was close to closing time when we decided to pop in, so I did have some concerns about freshness. But that was no issue! They were all still super fresh and delicious. We got about 8 donuts and rolls and each and every one was fabulous. Their classic cake donuts are my favorite, with the white, chocolate, or maple frosting. They remind me of the little donuts you'd get after church with your parents, when they serve coffee and donuts in the parish center - LOL! The filled/long John donuts are my husband's favorite, and they are also super tasty. The white fluff that Pettit's uses in those is heavenly. Super sweet but not cloying so much that you couldn't finish one. Next time you're on the hunt for something sweet and want a good quality, affordable option that may give you a bit of nostalgia, definitely hit up Pettit's Pastry!

From the beginning, the staff was incredibly helpful and creative. We had a pretty ambitious idea--a 3D cake shaped like a Blanton's Bourbon bottle--and they were completely on board. The attention to detail was amazing. They even recreated the iconic horse topper, and the finished product looked so real the retiree actually thought it was an actual bottle at first. They also helped us select from a wide variety of cake flavors and cupcakes. The main cake was the retiree's favorite flavor, and we added an assortment of cupcakes so guests could try different options. Every single one was delicious--some of the best cupcakes I've ever had, and a lot of guests were asking where they came from. One of the biggest lifesavers: they delivered the cake to The Drover and made sure it was safely stored in a fridge for us. We were all tied up with work and couldn't get there in person, so that extra step meant a lot. If you're looking for a cake that's both a showstopper and genuinely delicious, I can't recommend Sugared Ledge enough. Their talent and service really made the event feel special.
