Those doughnuts are awesome. Prior to this visit, I had only ever had the original glazed Krispy Kreme doughnut. To my delight, they actually have much better flavours, such as the "Chocolate Iced Custard Filled" and the "Caramel Kreme Crunch", both stuffed with fillings that ooze out as soon as you take your first bite. This new location is also very cute and clean. And yes, I know these things will kill me. But are they any worst than half the other treats I eat, like chocolate-almond filled croissants? Today was their grand opening and I got a free coffee mug - woot woot - you get an extra star for that KK. The store is really clean and everyone working there was very friendly, but it's definitely not for me.... I should mention that I don't really like KK donuts.. I think they're too greasy to be enjoyable. I prefer a cakier donut. (Note: I did try a bite of a raspberry-filled and aside from the grease factor, it did have a good jam-to-donut ratio. They're definitely not chinsy with the donut extras). I had a small coffee for 99 cents, which I thought was a great deal! However, it was the weakest 'bold' coffee I've ever had. No flavour - not very good, not very strong at all. I've been here a handful of times and I guess I've never gotten around to writing this review. This location is just a cafe. They have the standard menu of items but they don't make the doughnuts here. So don't wait around for a sign to light up in the window for you to run in and get a fresh glazed 'nut off the production line. Though the doughnuts aren't made on site, they're still fresh and delicious. A while back there was a Groupon (or similar company) that offered a free dozen glazed doughnuts. Be warned - this is not a chain that does double double! You must do it yourself! LOL I have been on Krispy Kreme runs to the first location that popped up in Vancouver! Absolutely bad for you! I do like them better than Tim Hortons. This is I must confess. I find them softer and fluffier. My trip to this place brought back a flood of memories. Though, it is not nostalgia that makes me give them three stars. My friend, the coffee was not so good.No matter where I have gone to have KK coffee - it has always been a real weak point. I really wish they would work on the coffee because the doughnuts are tasty. They need to pour some of that corporate cash into a better Cup O` Joe. Soft donuts for a good price. I relish the few locations in Toronto because donuts have become such a hype that the new donut stores often overcharge. My favourite is still the original. The dozen of donuts plus an iced coffee costed a little over $13 which is really affordable. The customer service was not great but the location had some tables available and is nicely situated beside a jimmys coffee which is a good place to go afterwards or pair with your donut. read more

When Krispy Kreme first hit the Canadian donut scene, my friends and I went bonkers. At that point in our lives, our primary pastime was driving to coffeeshops and eating donuts there. So when the double K hit the Heartland, it was like the opening of a hot new cream-filled double-glazed nightclub.[1] This tiny location --located at Harbord and Bathurst-- makes me nostalgic for simpler times when donuts was our drug of choice. All the old favorites are here: original glazed, chocolate glazed Kreme-filled[2], glazed cinnamon, et cetera. The donuts are unlike the cakey-baked varieties at Tim Hortons. These are lighter (in weight), greasier, and fucking sweeeeeeeeeet. I couldn't imagine eating more than one in a sitting. You'd probably explode with diabetes. But yeah, these donuts still pack a punch. I urge you to get the cream-filled variety of chocolate glazed donut rather than the custard-filled. As proof of my lack of business sense, I offer my enthusiasm for Krispy Kreme Doughnuts. When I first heard of the chain, I was sure it would be a massive hit in our doughnut-crazy town. If I'd had the wherewithal, I would have wanted to be the guy who brought Krispy Kreme to Toronto. Truthfully, I would have done so not for the piping hot, fresh donuts, for the wonder of of the matrix-like contraption from which these carbo-grenades are extruded in full view, or for the charming retro decor. I would have done it for the coffee. Krispy Kreme's first foray into the Canadian market introduced me to their frabjurous coffee; mild, bold, it didn't matter. It was hot and fresh and delicious.At it's best, Krispy Kreme's coffee trumped Starbucks, and heretically, most of the expensive espresso joints that have taken over the city. Offering three versions to Starbucks' bold/mild duality, Double-K delivered Seattle goodness at Scarborough prices. Shows what I know. Krispy Kreme is routinely cited in B-schools as an example of how not to expand a brand. Success came too quickly, they say; they overestimated the market and underestimated the popularity of low-carb living. Within months, the brand failed and I was sent back to my usual coffee joints, unless I wanted to make the trek out to Mississauga. Needless to say, I didn't. So imagine my delight when a scaled-down "Doughnut Cafe" opened at Bathurst and Harbord. I made a point of spending a rare day off Christmas shopping downtown, and forsook my usual warm, ready subway route for the wilds of the Bathurst Streetcar. My hands shook with anticipation and caffeine withdrawal as the red rocket pulled near. I disembarked and entered the tiny space; fighting for a counter and stool with some Central Tech kids. No donut matrix machine here; instead, the slight disappointment of finished product shipped in from the Mississauga location. The donuts are fine but thankfully less addictive. Exposure dulls the faint crispness of the exterior and steamy softness of the interior. The coffee made me sad. Maybe it was just this batch, or poor brewing, or slow turnover, but my bold cup featured none of the freshness, brightness or depth that I remembered. It was a decent enough cup, and maybe worth another shot as I write about it or if they opened closer to home, but not the destination that I remember. read more

I'm reviewing this delicious place because of the sugarcoated goodness it has inside. With it's tender workers and it's kreme filled value, it's a doughnut of a good time! Alright, so the metaphor isn't great but i meant some of it. Krispy Kreme is upon extinction. I'm very glad that there is one left standing by my home. Out of all places, this one lives. Without it's fresh baked conveyor belt, it's still an attractive place to get your sweet fix. It's cheap and delicious. Isn't that what we all want in a doughnut. It's better than something Timmies can concoct, so by those standards alone, you should agree. Keep this place alive. I had a very FAT weekend.. thanks to Krispy Kreme donuts. I picked up my WagJag for two dozen donuts on Saturday, and finished a dozen by Monday, embracing diabetes with open arms. The donuts are just amazing. I could just eat them all day if they don't go down to my thighs. I'm sure most people have tried Krispy Kreme at least once in their lifetime, and they're well known for their fresh soft texture, glazed in icing sugar. This location is very small, operated by one staff who was very nice and didn't rush me when I was picking out my assorted flavours. I love Krispy Kreme, I mean LOVE. I love Krispy Kreme so much I rent a zipcar and go to mississauga just to get Krispy Kreme (no joke!) sometimes I stop at wal-mart though! Now I was REALLY excited for this location because that means no more mississauga trips. Unfortunately, they are delivered from sauga in the morning and therefore are not as good as sauga around 7pm where they make them FRESH. However, the cashiers are AWESOME and it still is REALLY good for a donut....for Krispy Kreme...I'd rather drive to sauga...that's right these donuts are worth the $15 dollar car rental. read more

I love donuts so how can I not give this place 4 stars? I got one of those online coupon deals for I don't remember what price but I get a choice of a dozen donuts and any size specialty drink. The drink itself was too sweet and I'm not a fan. However, the donuts were delicious! They were very soft when you bite into them (softer than other donuts). There were so many different flavors to choose from such as Oreo, plain and chocolate. I like trying the special flavours but my favourite is still the plain glazed one. read more

My family and I went to Krispy Kreme on 225 Harbord street for the birthday special around 6:00pm on July 19,2019. When we entered the store, there was about 3 people ahead of us. You already get the feeling that the employees were tired and didn't want to be there because they kept explicitly saying it amonst themselves. One employee said "hey go on break because I've been for 10 hours and I want to get out of here". Furthermore, we overheard the employees tell the customers in front of us that there are no more original glazed donuts left. Even though the sign was still outside the store. The employees then gave everyone in the line rain check cards. At this moment, there were about 3 customers behind us. We were patiently waiting for our turn. The customer in front of us was being helped. And then all of a sudden, the customer that was way behind us was choosing donuts. So my husband said, "excuse me we were next" to the customer. The customer responded in a rude way and said the lady just asked what he wanted so he answered. And he was still ordering. Mind you his order was 3 dozens. We were only going to buy one dozen since we made the drive to downtown (were from bathurst and Wilson). And then my husband insisted we were next. So I also mentioned to the customer, "even if she asked you what's order, you need to look around and notice that there's a line." So the other employee asked me what I wanted. I believe his name is Veendy(he's the out who cashed me out and that's the name on my receipt). This is also the same employee that said the whole he needs to get out of here when we entered the store. At this point my husband and the other customer were arguing back and forth. While I was ordering, the employee(Veendy) had a very annoyed look on his face. I kept trying to repeat myself twice or 3 times so he can continue my order. He rolled his eyes repeatedly at me while getting the donuts. The employees did nothing at this moment to try and control the argument between customers. The employee(Veendy) proceeded with my order slowly. He never even told me my total, he just rang it up on the register and pointed to it. Then I paid with my debit card. I had to ask for my receipt because he just let it print and not give it to me. The entire time the employee looked annoyed and upset. And then shortly after he gave me my receipt, the employee(Veendy) told my husband, "calm down they are just donuts" and then another customer said "yeah seriously". And then the employee(Veendy) said "I've been here for 10 hours let's keep it moving man". I'm furious as to how the employee can act so unprofessionally. My family and I felt bullied at this store. And the funny thing is, we always go to this donut location since it's the closest one. And we never had an issue. Yes, it was upsetting they ran out of the original glazed donuts. But we were okay with that. What wasn't okay is that the employee didn't pay attention to the environment. You can't just take a random customers order especially if they weren't next. We were trying to stick up for ourselves because it's not fair if we've been waiting there for a while, and for another customer that came way later goes first. And on top of that, that customer was very rude about it. He was telling us to get mad at the employee who asked him his order, not him. In other places, if this exact same issue were to happen, usually the customer would siad oh I'm sorry I didn't know. And then move on. Or the employee would say oh sorry I didn't see the line. But it didn't go like that. We had to speak up for ourselves even if no one cared. But as customers, it's not fair if employees don't consider the line when taking orders. Also, the environment in that store wasn't welcoming because you can just tell the employees didn't want to be there. And the only time the employee tried to break up the argument was in the end. And even that wasn't handled professionally. He told us "these are just donuts" and he's been here for 10 hours . And then I hear a guy behind me saying "yeah seriously". Which I don't see why the fact he's been working long is gonna help the argument between the customers. It's very unfortunate for me and my family to witness this. We will not be returning to this story again. As a customer, It's not pretty that the employees working there makes it very obvious that they don't want to be there. They aren't made fresh on site due to the fact that it's a cafe, but I'm okay with that because the quality is still there. The place is VERY clean, the workers are VERY nice and I LOVE the doughnuts. I like how every season they get some cool new doughnuts that are actually unique and interesting (Yes, I'm pointing at you Tim Hortons with your Easter, Halloween, etc. doughnuts all being a different shaped Boston Cream.) The last visit I got a few of the apple pie ones. Oh yea, that is a keeper. As well, during some promotions they have buy a dozen get a dozen free and during Valentine's they also gave us a huge valentine coupon book made to give away that gave each coupon a free donut. Cheap donuts. On the upside - they were soft and moist. The downside - they are bland. They have a greasy after-taste.
