This was the first food spot traveling to Boston and my family and I were excited to try this spot…read moresince we planned our trip. Amongst the many places we searched this was where we wanted to go first. We got here around 1 pm and there was a good amount of seating available. The New Orleans inspired theme and music made this place such a good vibe to eat at. We had the gumbo, fish and chips, and beignets to share. The gumbo was a first time for us and it was extremely tasty, the mix of soft and savory chicken with a spicy soft yet tender pork sausage mixed with rice was amazing. The fish and chips were great as well but having the beignets at the end was truly the best finish to this fine experience.

Pictured and consumed is the Tajin Tango - El Jimador Tequilla, guave, lime and orange - highly recommend I wish I could say the same about the meal. First, the good... my dinner partner had the shrimp and grits and enjoyed the meal. Okay, that was the good! For me, I ordered the French Quarter burger with onion rings. The burger was lacking flavor. It was supposed to be dusted with creole, which could not be detected. The onions on the burger were way over cooked and had zero flavor. The scallion aioli saved the burger to add some flavor. The onion rings were overly greasy and most of them were soggy. I will chalk my experience as a bad night for the French Quarter, but I weighed out my dinner mates meal, with a good drink, and a bad meal to give them three stars.

First off: the food was outstanding. The kind of meal where everyone at the table were all raving about their food. Everything came out hot, flavorful, and fast considering the size of our group. Second: the staff deserves a medal. Not only were they friendly and efficient, but they also went above and beyond splitting checks for all 11 people individually without making us feel like we'd committed a felony. Anyone who has ever dined with a large group knows this alone is a five-star act of heroism. The ambiance was fun, energetic, and just the right amount of spunky. It felt lively without being overwhelming, the kind of place where you immediately relax and accidentally stay longer than planned. And finally, the soundtrack. Whoever was running the music understood the assignment. Absolute bangers all night. At one point I genuinely wasn't sure whether I was there for dinner or about to break out into dance. Fantastic food, great vibes, awesome service, and a team that clearly knows how to handle groups without breaking a sweat. Would absolutely come back.

Bourbon street ALLEGES that they have Creole/Cajun style food... but the only Cajun/Creole thing here was the rice..maybe. This is essentially a Chinese place inside The Food Experience at The Corner Mall. Please. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seriously doubt Crab Rangoons, or fried chicken smothered in an abundantly saccharine sauce is something you will find in Louisiana, unless you walk into a Chinese restaurant. In regards to the chicken, other than the fact it was sugary sweet, based on the samples I could barely tell the differences between the four or five different varieties. Other than the fact it was loaded with sugar, It wasn't bad per se. This kind of chicken is very often found in Chinese eateries (especially fast food ones) found across the United States, and is pretty on par with that. Another concern I have is that some of the pieces were quite large, and therefore unwieldy to handle. Since this is a takeout style meal, it is typically not desirable to have to eat it with a knife as part of your utensils. The rice wasn't half bad, it was cooked well, and seemed like the most Cajun/Creole stuff in this place. I've never had the real stuff though, so don't quote me here. Crab Rangoons were also not half bad. The dough was decent, and the filling was okay too, although a little more crab would have been quite nice. Then, there's the final nail in the coffin that sent this place down with only one star... the service. I realize there was a language barrier, this is not my issue, the issue was how rushed they seemed to be. If there was a line out the door, that's one thing, in this case, there was no line, no even one person. When compared to this level of rushing, a popular NYC deli during lunch appears to be moving at a snail's pace. For instance: me asking a couple times asking what something was lead to them immediately grabbing containers and serving as if that is what I had ordered. I wonder whether my question of "What is this?" was even considered... as if they saw my pointy finger and immediately start loading the container. Even without this disconnect, some labels would be quite helpful! Another instance: I had finally decided what I wanted, and asked if I could have half-an-half of two chickens... their answer was to the affirmative, and they gave me the two chickens... okay great... I go to pay, and I am charged for three entrees. With the chicken and Rangoons, I was only expecting two. This is when they proceed to tell me, in an uncharacteristically loud manner (compared to the ordering process) that half-and-half on meat is not allowed. No problem... only where were you when I asked if that was okay? I explained that when I asked if half-and-half was allowed, I was told it was okay. The person who put the food together and who was now ringing me up called a manager (or coworker) who also told me the same thing in the same uncharacteristically loud fashion. I explained my case once again... They ended up removing one of the chickens from the container (I wasn't handed it yet, so no one tore anything out of my hands). ~~ So, let's see... The food and only the food would probably get three stars for A-OK. -1 star for the misrepresentation... this is not Cajun/Creole, not even close. -1 star for the rushed, unprofessional, inattentive, and quite frankly rude service. These star deductions is me being nice... only you can't really go lower than one star, so let's just leave it there.

The ambiance is cozy, and the staff is attentive and friendly. The restaurant is clean and surprisingly spacious once you see the back. The food consistently earns a 10/10 in my book. I love their crawfish, which are a good size and juicy, and as a shrimp lover, I especially enjoy the shrimp. Adding broccoli to the broth not only enhances the flavor, but it also adds good texture, and the garlic noodles are fantastic. I always dip mine in a broth, which gives it a little spice kick. Their drinks, made with good quality liquor, are also excellent. I enjoyed a passion fruit cocktail that tasted amazing and was perfectly balanced. If you're shopping at Braintree Mall, stop by for a great meal. You won't regret it, I promise!
