Fried shrimp and crab or crawfish meatballs make for crunchy apps, especially with their flavorful dips. They all hit just the right level of spicy. I havent tried the poboy but lmk if you do. Seating is outdoors and somewhat limited. This is a cross between a neighborhood cafe and a bodega with aluminum chairs. But the nola flavor cant be beat. It's a little too gooey for me. The cajun wings, though kinda gimmick-y, is excellent. The wings are quite large, well-fried, flavorful, and tender inside. After reading the reviews, I guess my tastebuds are completely opposite from the other viewers. Based off of the reviews, we were expecting this to be our new spot and was totally disappointed. We ordered the okra, popcorn shrimp, hush puppies, red beans and rice and a shrimp, lobster and crab boil and a shrimp and lobster boil. We started off with the apps. Hush puppies and okra was a huge disappointment. Neither had any flavor. I didn't try the rice because I don't eat pork but my dinner seemed to like it. The popcorn shrimp was just okay. The boils had a sweet and spicy flavor to it and neither us liked that. I was going for Cajun which has no sweetness to it. We were under the impression corn and potatoes came with the boiled. They didn't - no big deal. We ordered two sides of corn and potatoes. Received them five to seven minutes later. The corn had cold spots and the center of the potatoes were ice cold. Another huge disappointment. I will say the lobster tasted very fresh!!!! We took home majority of our shrimp and unfortunately we never touch it after. It went in the trash. Our total was a little under $200 so to waste that, was not our goal but I didn't want to eat it because of the sweet flavor to the Cajun sauce. That NOLA gumbo is definitely authentic gumbo! It has a little bit of spice, but nothing that's too spicy! The flavor is definitely on point! If you want it more spicy, they have authentic Louisiana hot sauce there to add to it. But take a few bites without, and enjoy that flavor! I also had popcorn crawfish, which were pretty good, but it's the sauce that comes with it that makes it! The breading is just like that make it in Louisiana, like a cornmeal base versus a flour base. Lastly, I had a nice sized softshell crab, which was awesome. The batter could probably use a little bit more seasoning, but it was still very good. This place is definitely on my list to visit when I come back again to the area! read more

Fantastic little escape for Cajun style food. Selections are numerous, and most of the dishes can have the Cajun spice dialed up or down to your liking. Trust me, if you're a first timer, stick with mild for the garlic noodles. If you like New Orleans style heat, go medium or hot! You'll be satisfied. Very limited seating at the West Boylston shop, and winter time its really take-away more often. Shrewsbury shop has ample seating. Walk-in, select your food online by your phone or in-house touchpads, and bingo, relax and enjoy the Louisiana foods. The food from the double fried Cajun fries to a perfect roll full of fresh ingredients to Catfish & Oyster Po Boy's shows their pride in quality food. Plus Po Boys can be messy but these didn't fall apart, they were just right. Not shy with Catfish or Oysters that were fried in tasty but not heavy batter. I just had Oysters and blacked shrimp at Nola at the Big E and I was completely unprepared for what I got. The food at the Big E has gotten better but this was some next level stuff. I can't remember having oysters that fresh. Like I would serve them to Iron Chef Japan and not blink an eye. This is a five star stop for sure! So good. When you walk in, the smell is absolutely amazing and you can't decide what to get. The prices are reasonable and taste authentic! I have stopped at other northern establishments that claim "authentic New Orleans" and this beats them all. It looks like a small hole in the wall ( the best usually are) and is adorned with super awesome murals and is CLEAN. NOLA is a fabulous family-owned, one-stop shop for ultimate comfort food! I'm a big fan of their Po Boys and have tried their catfish, cajun chicken, and shrimp varieties. All were fried to a delicious crisp without the grease and enveloped in a warm freshly-made french bread that they make in house. Paired with their fresh toppings and secret sauce (I ask for on the side!), you're in for a great treat! Each Po Boy also comes with tasty cajun fries, which are far superior to the cajun fries at Five Guys. Much less greasy and salty, much more crispy. I knew these guys weren't messing around when I saw actual cornmeal used as breading. One bite and you're instantly taken back to New Orleans. I admit, I did not see this coming. When I moved to the area I was craving creole cuisine and this place didn't disappoint. My go to are the Cajun wings and crawfish fries and it never misses. The wings aren't as "saucy" as the used to be. Sometimes I would get a side of the garlic noodles to soak up the rest of the juice from the wings, but they don't make them as wet anymore. I've ordered from here three times within the past week to try different dishes because I was so impressed with their high rating. I tried the fried shrimp po boy, fried oyster po boy, cajun fries, cajun chicken tenders, crawfish boil, and garlic noodles. My only regret is ordering medium spice instead of hot, but that's because I have a solid tolerance for spicy food. Since discovering this place I have not been able to take my eyes off of it!! I don't know how they manage to perfect every dish every time I come. I live roughly 20-25 minutes away but the food I brought home was always warm and toasty when I got back. I can't find any other words to describe this place besides authentic, fresh, and mouth-watering. In the meantime, I will be back again to complete my punch card!! read more

Decided to try this place after hearing great things about it from coworkers and I'm glad I came! The food was very delicious (and spicy). Pickup was very quick and the layout for takeout is great. There are disposable utensils, napkins, and sauces ready at the counter for you to take with your order. I ordered the shrimp and keilbasa garlic noodles and they were so delicious. They are the best garlic noodles I've had from any seafood restaurant. The sauce they use tastes great and I even ordered more on the side to dip! There was a lot of shrimp and keilbasa in the dish so it was totally worth the $17. The boudin balls were very crispy and delicious! Dipping the boudin balls in the sauce was an addiction and I ignored the mustard sauce that came with it. I would definitely come again and I can't wait to try more food. read more

It had nice, big chunks of sausage. Retuned again tonight and I got the shrimp po boy and my wife got the NOLA roast beef po boy. One of best shrimp po boys I've ever had. Garlic noodles were delicious - lots of garlic and chili oil flavor, came with a ton of kielbasa. The gator bites were great - just as good as any in Florida, nice to find some in Mass.
