This review is for the derm studio not Dr. Forman (who to this day I have not met). I was looking for a dermatologist because there was a red spot that showed up on my face & I couldn't figure out why. I tried urgent care first & they referred me to the Derm Studio. I called & made my first appointment, they are super busy & basically had to wait a month to be seen. I'm cool with waiting if its actually worth the wait. I had no idea this is a plastic surgery office. The first day I came in, there really wasn't a warm welcome or greeting from the front desk girls. I just got this vibe that was stuck up snooty, even though nothing of the like was ever said out loud. It seems to me if you're not there for plastic surgery then you're waste of time patient, that's how I felt. I was also disappointed that I never got to meet Dr. Forman herself, but instead dealt with this a physician assistant lol. She was nice but I would of liked to have an actual doctor instead. When I asked questions, I felt like the answers were generic or just glazed over & not explained thoroughly. I did end up getting prescription creams which did help the issue but if I were to see a dermatologist again I would seek help elsewhere. The other treatment I got here was for a tiny growth on my face. It was removed & I was told when the results are in, there would be a call from the office. Well, they never called & when I did call I spoke to the front desk & that was disappointing because I would of rather spoke to a doctor. I didn't like how that was handled. My situation wasn't serious but still seemed weird a front desk lady would relay information & not the actual doctor. read more

ATTENTION NEW PATIENTS: I want to describe my first and only experience with Derm Studio. I booked a 10:45 appointment 2 weeks out to check out a potentially cancerous sun spot on my face. I downloaded and printed all the necessary paperwork before my visit. I filled it out. Even called prior and the receptionist sounded excited that I did that. I show up this morning at exactly 11 am. I'm 15 minutes late. I walk into a lobby filled with patients waiting. I was greeted with a rather cold, emotionless young girl with a welcome. Then looking at her screen and without hesitation, any discussion or even remotely customer service oriented response I get "The Dr is with her 11 and has a surgery after. Would you like to reschedule." I said no thank you. From the time I walked in the door to leaving was a total of 30 seconds. That includes showing completed paperwork. I'm sure if I showed up 15 minutes prior, on time, my experience would be different. With 4 kids on spring break at home ,a full time career running a company unfortunately life got in the way. This includes driving around 10 minutes to find a parking spot. I had to park in a street sweeping zone risking a ticket. Derm Studio is pretty. Too busy for your new business. Too cold and rigid. They do NOT give Raving Fan service. They have awful parking. Zero ability to train up-front staff on a service oriented experience. I'm sure the Dr is excellent but I couldn't get past the young girl up front who has a lot to learn. I have been going to the Derm Studio for over a year and I have nothing but positive things to say. I drive to Newport from SD to see this team of specialists. I'm always greeted with friendly faces and professionalism from the time I walk in until the time I leave. They are extremely busy, so be prepared to be on time, as their time is just as valuable as yours. The girls at the front desk always address me with a smile and by name. The drs, and PA's are friendly, efficient, and are I feel keep me well informed on all or any of my treatments. I absolutely love the young lady in The front Lauri she's always so kind with the friendliest smile and has the kindest demeanor. This group of "doctors" are just high-end sales people. Don't even bother wasting your time unless you want to be told you need to be on 60 different creams day and night in order to be human again. More than a month booked out, you get to be surprised on who your doctor is, and they do a great job of rushing to meet your concerns with more daily and nightly regimen products. I'm 25 years old and healthy, they were encouraging 5 different products day and night just to start! Said that my current products were not good, I bet if I would've let her keep going it would've easily been 10+ products, oh and this was just a quick look at my face...not even a body scan. Huh, sounds more like a cash cow office to me... Ha! I should've read just one review before seeing these clowns. All I can say is the 5 stars must be friends and family cause no sane person is actually satisfied with these people. read more

While I've never seen Dr. Forman (because she's booked so far out), I am a regular patient of one of her PAs, Amber. She is wonderful! Smart, kind, thorough, and honest. Whether it's a full skin cancer screening, an embarrassing rash, a worrisome new mole, or a botox touch up, she does it all with compassion and competence. Highly recommend! read more

Dr. Chowdhury is NOT thorough nor does she care about her patients. I took my son here to get a rash checked and needed a few prescriptions for his eczema. I was taken aback when she refused to issue one and suggested we needed another appointment to get a prescription for his eczema. By the way that would have probably taken another 2 weeks to schedule and by the time he came back his hands would be RAW from not having the eczema cream. I took him to another doctor close by and she filled everything we requested and only asked us to come in if necessary. You might want to reconsider scheduling with this doctor. read more

I called in as a new patient needing an annual exam and recommendation for a daily skincare routine. The front desk was quite helpful and even had an appointment for me the next day! The check-in process was quick and I was the only patient in the waiting room. It was clean with a temperature check and hand sanitizer handy. I was seen as soon as I was done with my initial paperwork. Amber Young came in with a cheery demeanor wanting to help with any of my questions. She wrote down a list of items she recommended that I could order online or over the counter in addition to some prescriptions. One of those prescriptions she provided to me as a sample first to see if I liked it. I received a full body check for any abnormalities/concerns with some tips from her on certain things she noticed. So glad I found Holly! I've been seeing her for cosmetic and medical skin concerns for a couple of years now. She's amazing with Botox. My face doesn't look as if it's had any help. ;) Also, before I found her I had been struggling with these bumps around the bottom of my nose. I saw three doctors before I saw her, and they kept giving me creams that did nothing. Holly identified what it was and treated it in one visit! She's really knowledgable. It was such a relief because it was so uncomfortable and unsightly for so long. It feels relaxing when I go there because Holly has a really calming demeanor. I went to The Derm Studio after a 5 year hiatus from visiting a dermatologist. After a much needed visit, I was prescribed a few different medications to treat my hat head (which was the product of years of playing baseball) along with athletes foot. After about 2 months of taking these prescriptions I've eliminated all the dandruff in my hair while also curing what I thought to be too-far-gone athletes foot! Amber was also thorough reviewing my skin for sun damage and unusual moles. I highly recommend the doctors in this office. I felt comfortable asking questions and received easy to understand answers. Everyone in the office was welcoming. All in all, it was a great experience. The professionalism and devotion to their patients did not go unnoticed. Thank you for all your help. Not sure why the Yelp account name is Foreman Kristen instead of The Derm Studio which is what they go by. I've been a patient of Marina for almost 2 years now- back when they were downstairs before the salon took over! Marina is one of the most passionate and caring derm specialist I've ever met! I first started with the chem peel for a couple visits and now I'm mainly there for the fraxel treatment. Fraxel seriously hurts like a mother effer. I usually show up 30 minutes to an hour before my appointment to start numbing... but it still hurts. But I have a low pain tolerance so maybe I'm just being a baby about it. However- the result is so worth it. I just think to myself every time that laser hits a surface on my dark spots that the beauty that comes after the pain is really worth it. My skin looks better than ever but girl- it's still a work in progress. I'm going to need several more sessions. Let's talk about interiors. I love how clean and modern the office and treatment rooms here are! I like the rooms with the ceiling to floor window. It is muted with some sort of covering or layer so the sun does not penetrate through but it give such a beautiful lighting. When I come in early for numbing I would take a few selfies in ahem "natural" lighting just for kicks. #nofilter am I right? Just kidding 'cause I am totally using vscocam. Anyways. Another neat thing about this place is the offering of skin care products! Not only do they have skin serums, cleansers, ointments (medical grade mind you not the low percent commercial ones) but they also carry SPF ADDICT. This is Marina's line of sun protective clothing. The clothes are made out of sun protective spf50+ organic fabrics and they have all been tested by specialists to ensure it actually lives up to its protective qualities. I love the black cardigan. Provides great coverage when you're out in the sun without compromising style. I can drape it on my body in several different ways for many looks/outfits. You can check it out while you wait for your appointment. When it comes to scheduling appointments I say make sure you plan in advance. These ladies are busy because they see a lot of patients! I usually book my appointment every 2 months mainly for my skin to heal from treatment before starting the next. Expect to be a few weeks out from the date you initially want. UNLESS... someone drops the appointment and you could be put on the date to be called as an alternative. They have a good follow up- usually calls a day before appointment to confirm! Parking: Oh my god. I used to be able to find parking around here- especially in the back of the offices but now thanks to the salon, the yoga studio and Gratitude cafe I cannot find any spaces behind the medical center. I ventured over to the Urban Garden/ Interiors boutique side. I did not see any signs saying you have to be a customer here to park here so it is an open lot and fair game to me. Nothing written on the parking stopper thingy in the space either about customer parking only. I've parked here once before and it was fine. But yesterday was different. Some bitch (I assume management from that side) had the decency to write on an index card "TOW THIS CAR, WENT TO GRATITUDE" and left it on my windshield. I came out after treatment to find that stupid note which I assume was left there for the towing company which could have been on their way but too bad bitch I beat you to it and got to my car first. Like really? It's not like I parked over night or something. You don't even have any signs up! Ughh stupid bitch. Guess I'll have to drive around a little more next time in the front and back lot of medical center to find a space. And they're planning to open more businesses in that building? Rating this place 5 stars because of Amber Young! At first I was seen by Dr. Choudhry who is professional but always seemed rushed and I felt I was being rushed through my treatment. Anytime I had questions I was told "we will discuss this on the next visit". She also makes weird clucking sounds with her mouth right before each shot which caused me even more anxiety. On one of those visits Amber Young performed my treatment. She was kind, gentle, funny, patient and caring. She took her time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. Most importantly she gave me breaks in between treatments. You can feel she is genuinely concerned about you as a patient. Staff is really nice and I recommend the Derm Studio. Ask for Amber Young! I recently started suffering with eczema on my hands, that worsened to the point of severe blistering. I was given a same day appointment to meet with Physician's Assistant, Amber Young. I have never met, nor been treated by Dr. Forman, but she is clearly a great judge of character and professionalism, as indicated in the work ethic of the staff she employs. My experience with this office exceeded my expectations. On the phone as I made the appointment, I was greeted with a warm voice whose smile shown through. As I explained my situation, she listened with care as she scheduled my appointment with Amber. When I arrived, the front desk staff was professional, warm and friendly and that experience continued throughout my exam with Amber. Amber was a great listener, affirmed my frustrations, and was knowledgeable and confident in her approach to beginning a course of treatment that assured me that I was in great hands. I love her so much that I quickly made an appointment for my 18 year old son that has been battling acne. I scheduled an afternoon appointment for with Amber later that same afternoon. My son was very comfortable with Amber, as she educated us on what her approach to treatment would be for him. I had to bring my 2 year old granddaughter, who missed her nap and was acting accordingly, to my son's appointment. As my granddaughter was in "full melt" down mode, the staff patiently worked around her and brought her a lollipop to distract her. I really appreciated their patience and understanding with me as I tried to calm her down. Prescriptions for me and my son were called into my pharmacy, and we are headed towards healing. I will also be scheduling an appointment for my daughter to see Amber soon. Thank you to everyone I had contact with, from the front desk staff, to the staff member that gave my granddaughter a lollipop. You all made a potentially stressful situation very pleasant. But I found Amber Young on Yelp and thought I would give her a try. I cannot explain how happy I am to have found Amber young. She is kind and compassionate and she is really good at what she does. She knows how to spot of skin cancer she knows how to treat different conditions but the most important thing is, she was biopsying my face and I didn't even really feel it that's how good she is in skilled with her hands. Scheduled an appointment with Dr. Lazarro for an all over skin check and to make sure a mole I have was okay. The appointment was going well until I opted out of having the mole removed during this appointment. I asked to schedule another appointment at a later date (as I had to get back to work) and it all went down hill from there. The doctor seemed irritated as if I had just wasted her time and then to top it off I was told there was a "new client fee" and would be charge $160 for my short visit.. Wait.. I am being charged DOUBLE for my visit because I'm NEW? Hitting me with twice the fee AFTER my visit was so unethical. No where online or in office is this stated, nor was it mentioned to me over the phone when scheduling the appointment or when they called the day before to confirm. After forking over the $160 in cash to the girl in front, who couldn't fake a smile to save her life, I asked why I was being charged so much for a visit with no procedures or services. The only answer she repeatedly told me was "it's a new patient fee". So NEW patients of this office beware. You will be charged double for your visit simply because you are new. One star for their beautifully decorated office and one star for the kindness I experienced BEFORE they realized I would only be getting a skin check. Will not be returning. read more

My appointment was with the PA, Amber I believe was her name. She was amazing! Very professional and so kind. I had a skin growth removed and it didn't hurt at all, I was super nervous because I had a prior experience that was completely different than I had at The Derm Studio. Liz also was super nice, everyone there were really great. Beautiful office, great experience. The best part is that now I have a new Dermatologist that I love!!!! This is were you need to go. I saw Dr. Choudhry at this office for freezing of several dry spots, that weren't healing. She took care of the problem but told me to come back for an all over yearly body check, which was due in the next month. I guess she was too busy to do all over check during this appt. That's not unreasonable so I returned for the more thorough check. During a 15 minute visit, Dr. Choundhry was not personable, found almost 20 more spots to freeze. In the past, with my other dermatologist, I have no history and maybe 3 spots have been found in my 20 years of going for annual checks. Dr. Choudhry did not ask follow up questions from the prior visit. She seemed very rushed. Like I said, a 15 minute visit, at most. I did point out one spot that was very dry for about a year. But she froze right above the area, instead of on the concerning spot. When I got home, I called and let them know, she had missed a key spot. I asked them if could return for the 5 minute cryotherapy. They said she was too busy and I would have to schedule another appt. I'm going to return to my previous derm. Dr. Choudhry is aggressive with the freezing tool, perhaps, bring paid by the spot? There was no warmth there, no personality. And office staff is not accommodating. read more

Nice office conveniently located on Westcliff Drive in the 1617 building by Kit Coffee and Cafe Gratitude. Wanted to get a suspicious mole checked out and never had anything like this done before so wasn't sure what to expect. The entire process was simple and smooth: was able to get an appointment same day, no waiting time both in reception area and in the treatment room, painless shave/biopsy, no discomfort after, and benign path results is always a bonus! I think the entire appointment took maybe 30 minutes and only costed couple hundred bucks, very reasonable if not going through insurance. In summary, Dr. Forman's office is professional, streamlined, friendly, and reasonably priced. Will definitely be returning for any future dermatology services. read more
