Being the closest "Proper" grocery shop around my area, it is where I do the most grocery shopping as well. This is where I first signed up for my Kroger Plus Card and this is where I mostly spend my fuel points when I reach 100. Who wouldn't want $0.10/gal off on their fill up? This Kroger by no means the most Perfect Kroger in the world. Yes it has its shortfalls, but everything else is in its proper place. There are items that they don't carry as opposed to the other shops, but that's not what reviews are all about. And if you don't know how to navigate a kroger, then you should definitely learn. I come here mostly for their great prices on the meats and produce. I like to cook and I like to cook from scratch as well, so whenever I have to go out and purchase ingredients, I come here. Specially when they are running the 10 for 10 sales on most of their items (specially the dozen eggs special). The staff is very nice and helpful. I want to go get gas earlier this afternoon and the Kroger employee behind the window was very rude. This lady's name was Ronda with a H first of she didn't know the proper procedure how to apply fuel points. I always check my fuel points before I get gas and she was incorrect because I question her she went to close the window after I applied my card and slammed my finger inside of the little slot I didn't say anything because had I would've said something. Someone would've called the police, but this is a very rude condescending employee and even though nothing is going to be done to her because of her non-professionalism and conduct, but I will never and I mean never go to this Kroger again especially if I see her inside of the building very rude very unprofessional and she should not be dealing with customers with the attitude that she has read more

This is amazing that this store is even still open. This is the second time in six months ,that I have gotten bad meat first time was ground turkey and I was sick for four days. Today it was bad steak that was a grayish brown it was not one package but two. I spent cash and was given a lousy gift card,which you could not buy tobacco or beer with the gift card. The lame ass bald headed Manager Micheal was a complete joke about this issue,NO APOLOGY from anyone. This time I am going to the State of Michigan health department. And trust me something is going to be done about this. I have already been in touch with the corporate office in Ohio. Well people who shop this store, I feel sorry for you. No gluten free bread or anything else. If I have my say about this,this store is going to be closed. As a Certified Executive Chef I will no longer tolerate this from Kroger or anyone else. Hey folks you not with the program at Kroger Fuel. Get with it, I get $420 FREE gas every year. Yes a Buck off a gallon fills both ride's for a month 35 gallons. So 35x12 equal 420 got it. I mainly purchase the Gift Card's when 4x the points always once per month. So $200 bucks worth Amazon, Ebay, Lowe's and dozens of restaurant card's are easy to spend equal 800 points or 80 cent off a gallon. The rest is spent on groceries at Kroger Milk Eggs Meat's n more. I've lived in Dearborn 32 years. This store has been awful since the day it opened. The aisles are too narrow. The shelves are frequently empty & not restocked for over a day. The layout especially around the bread aisles is counter intuitive. It's difficult to find items. It is very dirty. The fresh produce section is extremely awkward. It's easy to miss items - particularly with the fruit. The fruit is divided into various sections that make no sense. If I want Bananas, I have to wait until I'm done with the entire fresh produce aisle to access them. I live 0.6 miles from it & have to use it on occasion. I try very hard to go anywhere else. read more

Only come here when I really need to. This Kroger is only a mile away from me but I will drive the extra time to go to a better Kroger. This place just got a recent upgrade with a renovated produce section. However, that could not help how crappy the place really is. The place is very tight and disorganized. The parking there sucks, the people are rude at times, the people who go here smell and are pathetic. She did her best and did a fine job, but we stood in like for 28 minutes, hence making us late to our next appointment. I never pictured myself reviewing a grocery store chain but I have been to this Kroger on multiple occasions and cannot believe the poor quality of product, the horrible stench within, and the staff that appear to be sleeping and/or angry at all times. In fact, I am stunned at the other reviews for this Kroger. I thought maybe I was reviewing the wrong one but after double checking the address, I have confirmed that this in fact the same Kroger. So, let's get started here... BAD.... 1. The whole damn store....it stinks. Every time I have been there I throw up in my mouth a little. It reminds me of B.O. and Garbage. Yuck! 2. The milk.... I have purchased milk here twice. Both times the milk was sour tasting. I am big on fresh Vitamin D milk. I love it. So, I know immediately when milk tastes, 'off.' Their milk isn't refrigerated well or is old or who knows? I just know it was gross on both occasions. 3. The deli....barf!!!! We purchased spinach artichoke dip and it was funky. Something tasted strange to say the least. We each dipped a pita piece into the dip. We each took one bite. We each spit said bite out and threw the whole thing of dip away. Onto the Chili/Cheese Con Queaso dip from the deli......double barf!!!!!!! Same scenario; tried a bite, almost lost our lunches, and in the garbage it went. Again, we thought maybe their refrigeration system sucked or that the items may have been old (even though they had current expiry dates). 4. The bakery....sigh. I love baked goods. No, I mean I literally love baked goods so on a pit stop at this Kroger, we decided to try their Cream Cheese Italian White Cake (something along those lines) and guess what?! It sucked! Dry cake and slimy frosting. I am shivering right now thinking about it. Ugh! 5. The staff...I have yet to be greeted with a smile during checkout. The employees that stock the shelves always look mad at you when you come down the aisle they are working in. And on occasion, I have thought that some of the stock employees were literally napping (sitting on a milk crate doing the nod....more than once!). I expect employees to acknowledge a customer, be friendly & polite, and to help when needed. I never feel any of the warm and fuzzy's when I go to this Kroger. The reason they get two stars.... 1. Convenience. Unfortunately, this Kroger has a prime location. Dix and Southfield. They get a star for this. Location, location, location!!! 2. More convenience. They have a gas station out front and 2 Redbox stations inside. They at least have that going for them so they get another star. I will not go back here. I gave them about 10-12 chances and every time, there was something that just didn't sit right. I'll trek down the road to another grocery store even if it is out of my way. I was on vacation in the area Aug 2013 and decided to stop at this Kroger's to pick up a few things. Really nice layout of the store, everything looked nice and clean. Hardly any customers in the store around noon, prices are comparable to everyone else out there. Friendly employees. Gas Station on site. Kroger is the parent company to Ralph's groceries which we have in California. I think the Kroger corporation should start setting up there Ralph's stores to look more like Kroger, Ralph's is just not professionally run like Kroger is. read more

I shop here but it is almost always a nightmare getting in and out of the parking lot! The fresh food selection is OK and there is usually plenty of stock of all items but the store atmosphere is just not very inviting. The bottle return area is always a complete mess and stinky. If you really need to shop here, try to go in the morning. It will be much less crowded. read more

I do almost all of my shopping at this Kroger and for the most part, it's a really good store. They have a lot of long-term employees that do a good job of keeping everything stocked and fresh. The store is clean, has a good layout, and is big without being too big. Occasionally there are a few disgruntled teen workers and some shady characters, but I've never had a huge problem. They recently remodeled this location. I am not happy with the new layout. There used to be a separate section for organic and health items. Now they are scattered throughout the store, and you really have to hunt to find them. Many times items I want are out of stock. The self checkouts are pretty fast. Not sure when these other reviewers go, but aside from how busy this location is, I have no complaint. The store is well organized each morning and pretty well stocked considering that there is no quiet time to go...I tried 6am, right before closing, middle of day...doesn't matter, it's busy. The staff are friendly despite the constant traffic and it's local where I can grab everything I need. DON'T go to Kroger's in Lincoln Park! I'm handicapped & needed a cart. First one needed charging. Second one, showed a full charge but lasted 10 minutes...maybe. Third was the charm. I asked 5 people where to find health bars? I was looking for the Think Thin bars. Two workers directed to the cereal aisle. I didn't ask for granola bars!!! The other 3 workers didn't have a clue. Finally, one worker Don who referred me to the cereal aisle, asked did I find what I was looking for? I said no. He said follow me, I think I know what you want. Jackpot! He was right. The bars were on sale for $1 each. Their stock was depleted. When they go on sale, I stock up! I was able to get 13 bars. REALLY!!! And other than Don, NOBODY was friendly. They just work there. Trash is always blowing in the parking lot, employees are practically a permanent fixture smoking in the front of the store, pop can return is a constant mess, among many other issues. I called just to see if they had the medication I needed in stock and they asked for all of my information even though I explained I had never used this pharmacy and wanted to confirm before I had my doctor send it over. During this process something came up and I asked for a moment, in the background I heard the pharmacist say, "I think a customer just put me on hold.. haha like what?" Which Normally wouldn't have upset me but I was in a rush and only needed to know if they had the medication in stock. When I called back the second lady didn't ask for any information and simply checked and let me know when they should have it. I guess because of the pressure from higher end places like Whole Foods or the Westborn Fruit Market chain, I've noticed all Krogers, in general, sprucing up a bit. This one's no exception - you esp. see it in the produce and deli sections which are strategizing ever more tantalizing displays with which to choreograph incoming shoppers' movements, and the produce looks ever-fresh under the timed mist-showers. Good enough for me. I also notice that, while still relatively small, their section of organic produce and dry-goods is taking up more room these days - so if you're into that, there you go. You can also get a pretty decent selection of cheap kitchenware if you needed something on the quick. Lastly, this was the ONLY place out of 5 locations I visited that carried fresh basil, which i needed. I know it's out of season, but it's a pretty easy greenhouse herb to grow, and I'm surprised no one else was carrying it. Happy to find it here though. I was a little irked at the fact that they ONLY carry store-brand kidney beans... i want more kidney bean options dammit! I also couldn't account for the fact that they carry two different brands of bottled bay leaves, one costing $9 the other costing $2... the leaves look identical to me, so of course I took home the $2 version... but why the price difference?!!? Also, they carry beer, but they need to diversify the beer options. Finally, as I was checking out, my cashier (DJ) turned his back mid-way through my groceries to engage his co-worker one checkout counter over in a nasty battle of the wits (no doubt stemming from some earlier cat fight they must have been having). Let it be known, for the record, that in this battle DJ did not carry many a weapon, and both embarrassed himself (hopefully) and irritated me and everyone waiting behind me for being held captive during this stupid bout of name calling. Fruit selection is poor. Never able to find items and store employees don't know where they are most times either. Parking is crazy. Lazy shoppers will leave their cart bumped into your car. So very very sad. I usually shop at the Kroeger on Eureka in Southgate, old but beyond clean and kept up. This location is not only a pain in the butt to get in and out of, but shear filth!!! So much nasty trash in the parking lot there is food all over and seagulls, just everywhere!!! So nasty! And the inside is just as bad, nasty, and filthy....I will say the cashier I encountered was an absolute doll and so was the lady butcher. Very kind and helpful. I want to remember the store was so much cleaner and an amazing store to go to and has been literally a decade since I shopped in a Kroger. When we first got in we were all excited and we were checking out produce half of the stuff is old and we went on to the dairy aisle across the store and I stepped in a big pile of which I hope was water. Three aisles were filthy and to top off my anger of my visit the girl behind the deli insisted that I get the precut meat that was all sitting behind the counter instead of cutting it and doing her job herself. If I wanted to precut I would've bought the shit that was in the package that she took out of it herself. As she asked twice I finally said yes since we needed the lunch meat. I think the only real word to use to describe this place is "ghetto". This place is absolutely filthy and the parking lot is full of people just sitting in their cars half the time. Sketchy looking people roaming around and carts galore all over the parking lot. Most of the time there will be a cart 5 feet from the cart drop off that someone was too lazy to walk to!
