I placed a cake order for my son's birthday, and I cannot say enough about how much I appreciate Amy in the bakery department for going above and beyond to make sure his cake was done. I ordered a sheet cake with an edible custom photo on top. Unfortunately, the printer they normally use was not working. Amy could have simply called me and said they weren't able to complete my order, and I would have understood.(I would have been scrambling to get any cake order in, not the one my son and i designed together) But instead, she went out of her way to drive to another location to have the edible print made so my son still has the custom one of a kind cake he is going to love. That meant so much to me. It's one thing to do your job, but it's something completely different to genuinely care enough to go the extra mile and find a way to make something happen for a customer, especially when it involves making a child's birthday special. People who truly care about their work and are willing to do something extra simply because they care deserve to be recognized. Amy absolutely deserves that recognition. Her kindness, effort, and willingness to help make sure his cake was ready turned what could have been a stressful delay into a great day. His party is on schedule and I truly am so grateful. I was shopping doing my own thing when I see a worker address a young man. The worker started. Making a problem over what's was on the young boys shirt. This kid is obviously a minor. I continue to watch this little boy get criticized and tore down for what was on his shirt. The worker old man like mid 40s continue to grab his junk at the young man. After that the young man walked away quickly. Never seen anything like it. Truly disappointed and disgusted with what I witnessed today. read more

Kroger continues to disappoint. Today I went in for eggs; something we have run low on in this continued cold spell. Today they even had a sign up, displaying their ineptitude. The section with all of the signs is where their limited supply of Eggland's Best eggs should be. However because they devote 2/3's of their shelf space to Kroger's brand they again are out of what I want; and the only thing I am willing to pay money to buy. While on my daily excursion to the local Kroger supermarket, I met a kind young gentleman that went by the name of Noah. Noah was very helpful. Noah directed me to isle 17 to find my baking goods. I was looking for some ground cumin for my homemade chicken soup! He was a delight to meet and I am very grateful for his assistance. Noah deserves a raise for his kindness and willingness to help customers. I advise anyone that goes in this store to look for Noah and have as a great of an experience as me. When I ran in to Noah, he was picking up trash on the bread isle. His contributions of making the store clean and ready for customers is unmatched. Thank you. I'm surprised this Kroger has mediocre reviews. We love this location! It is convenient to Pellissippi, has a Starbucks inside, and a gas station located in the parking lot so I remember to use my fuel points. There is also a USPS drop box and Red Box kiosk out front. I'm always particularly impressed by a young man named Cameron who has worked in the produce section for several years. He's very friendly and goes out of his way to be helpful. The employees in the bakery, deli, and meat department are great as well. The store is well staffed, so the lines are never super long. They also have a surprisingly good selection of seasonal decorations. read more

It is very upsetting to be a regular customer of this location and be treated the way I was today. I will happily take my business back to Walmart where there not fresher produce and lower prices. This is the second time I've contacted corporate this year. The first time was questioning if they accepted a government ID. I had to have the woman come over twice to re-ring something. She said "sometimes it doesn't get it, and you have to go back" it's super frustrating because by this point she has had to come over twice, and she's appears to be really over it. Then, my card was declined, so I had her come over and void a few things to lower my balance. A second worker came over to assist and said that she would have to void it out and re-ring it. I follow her to another registee, and she rings everything up, and checks the number of items which is nine. ent over and she rang it all up then told to count the items to make sure I had nine. She said then to count my items to make sure its nine items. I said "ookay, well you were the one who rang everything up. And you want me to count them?" And she said "Uh-huh". I was pretty annoyed at this point and told her I did work there, I shouldn't have to do all of this. She said "well, you should get a job here then" I scan my card to pay, but don't get a receipt. So the second lady looks at me very accusingly and reaches to snatch the bag away. She says, "It says you didn't pay!" I stepped back, and told her she was not going to come at like that. I feel like she's ready to fight me or something. I wasn't running away, so i'm not sure she couldn'tI have settled down a little. I run the card a forth time and it declines it. This is probably due to the fact my credit union has blocked my card. She called for a manager and some guy in jeans and a tshirt and baseball cal comes over and she tells him something about me not paying. He says "Well if she had me come over here, then it probably means it's your time to leave." This probably sounds laughable to someone reading this, and it actually is pretty funny now that I think of it. No clue who that guy was, he had to name tag. He looked like he might be a cart attendant I don't even know. I mean, come on, take a look at your reviews, Kroger. This store used to be very nice. Now, everyone seems to be pissed off. Like, I'm sorry you have to do your job. And I'm sorry to that woman who I made mad. She said something within earshot of me to another employee that she WAS having a good day. This Kroger has made a significant come up including a bank, Suntrust I believe, coffee and huge redesign and i do mean HUGE! The facility is clean and welcoming as are MOST of the employees. I had everyone ask me if I needed help which is a rare decency seen anymore. Holiday selections are preferred here as they do have quite a bit of sales. There are public restrooms inside and for parents they DO offer the car shaped carts for kids! The walk ways are clean and precise and it is convenient for travelers just about to take a road trip or get on the highway because it is last stop before the ramp to Pellissippi and/or 75 North/South read more

I'm not the type to complain online about experiences where we frequently shop, however this experience at Kroger really should be addressed by upper management. The S. Northshore location has 1 associate that I have had multiple negative experiences with and each time it is brought to the attention of management it seems to be ignored. Julie from the bakery has the worst attitude of any customer service individual I have EVER met. From simply trying to find items featured on the app or needed in the bakery section to actually trying to place an order, this woman has been a nightmare. The last encounter we had was when we tried to place an order for a cake we had already called ahead for. We spoke to Victoria who asked us to drop by that evening and place our order so she had plenty of time to complete it. Julie ignored us the first two times we requested her assistance and when she finally approached us she kept throwing herself around and huffing and puffing. Julie scribbled down an illegible order on a cake form and them balled it up furiously after speaking with us. I requested a manager at this point because Julie was being completely unreasonable and I didn't feel I deserved such disrespect. Julie then began to argue with us refusing to call the manager because "we were slowing her down and she was in a rush." (Julie's words verbatim) When she finally paged the manager she proceeded to make snide faces and laugh as if she felt she had won something. The manager was kind and took our order and Victoria did a phenomenal job with the cake! In my opinion, if someone speaks and behaves in such a manner with customers, they have no place working in the service industry. As someone who worked various jobs in the service industry as well as food service, I know this job can not be easy, but this is no excuse for treatments we have received from Julie. Unfortunately, the negative experiences Julie has created for us speak so much louder than all the great experiences we have had shopping at this location. While Kroger may not notice the loss of 1 frequent shopper, it saddens me to feel that I should have look elsewhere in an effort to avoid any additional negative experiences with Julie from Kroger. read more

Just an FYI for those who use coupons - this location has given me more issues regarding using coupons, using coupons on discounted items, using paper and digital coupons, etc. than other locations. Everything else about this location is okay, they actually have a nice selection of frozen Goya products (papa rellena, croqueta, etc.) that others don't. read more

I am a long-time shopper at this Kroger, but I probably went there my last time today. Their Click List is horrible. I have shopped at other Kroger locations (Maryville, Cedar Bluff, Knox Plaza) so my expectations are not out of line because they are met at these locations but not Northshore. They consistently have more substitutions than other locations. Many times I can park, get out of my car and go in and they actually have the items that I was told they were unavailable and substituted. They are also the only location where I have issues with the qualify of the food provided. Eggs are broken, bread is mashed, chips crushed. Beware!! I have called and complained to management. I got a very mediocre apology, but no offer to replace the damaged items or refund my Click List fee. Unacceptable! read more

Get your Fish and Steak from the meat Counter near the bakery. I've had fresh salmon twice, filet Mignon twice and lobster tails from the counter. The tails were previously frozen, which I knew. I had never cooked lobster tails before so I asked the guy behind the counter how to do it. he told me to "Slice the shell about 2 inches and put in boiling water for about 4 minutes." Well for anyone that knows how to cook lobster tails, obviously that time was wrong, So I totally screwed up the tails and decided to try and remedy that by sticking them into the broiler. Overcooked, nevertheless my step son ate it. I bought fresh salmon there and baked it--delicious! The fish didn't smell and it cooked lovely, tender, juicy. The filet Mignon is always tender and hearty. I have fun shopping in Kroger. it's a big relief from Walmart. And they always have something on sale. Plus there are free samples throughout the produce and deli section. 3 times in the past 2 weeks I've found Sliced Orange, salami, potato salad and yellow American cheese samples. OH--and lest I forget the free samples of the butter cookies--I can't remember the brand but they sell them right near the bakery! Bread lovers--Kroger makes this AWESOME multi-grain bread with sunflower seeds and grains. Twice I've found it on sale for $2.50 a loaf. it's worth every penny! One time I got milk there and it went sour 5 days before it's sell date. Disappointed I contacted Kroger online and they gave me a $5.00 credit on my Kroger card. Plus, if you buy their gas and put your Kroger card in before paying at the pump, you'll accumulate points and eventually get a discount on gas. Kind of like Costco, I guess? Which I haven't seen here, yet. Only no annual fee. Can't beat that! read more

Let me start by saying that I'm in this Kroger everyday and spend a ton of money there. So imagine my annoyance when I was in the cosmetics department and was accused by Vanessa of testing products at 8 in the morning after finally dropping kids off and being free for a few moments. I felt Vanessa hovering over me before she confronted me because I guess I look like a shoplifter to her. I see her at the checkout and ask her name. She COVERS it up and won't tell me. Then she says she already spoke to the manager Chris. I go to speak to Chris Miller and his eyes literally glaze over. He manages a weak I'm sorry that happened after asking what I did to make her suspicious of me. No this isn't how we act here. No what can we do to make this a better experience. NOTHING. He literally couldn't care less and he made that known. I finally speak to another manager, Erica, who does actually seem to care and was very apologetic. The entire time the other employees were horrified on my behalf as they all see me in here everyday. So how did I leave feeling? I left feeling if two managers Vanessa (a department manager) and Chris, don't really give a crap that a regular shopper was profiled, one even participating in it and then becoming very defensive, then I just need to shift all my shopping to Publix where you're treated with dignity and respect by the entire staff. read more
