Tried FM. Good turkey, though pricey. Got added to their in-store loyalty program and email list. Sent me an offer for a free piece of cake for my birthday. Was charged for it. The ad told me it was worth $7.99, the price on my "free" piece of cake was over $5.00, I was given $.50 off on it. The cake was HORRIBLE. Chocolate ASH is what it tastes like. I would NEVER use their bakery. Aside from the fact that the slice was small, it had no crumb coat, no out side layer of icing at all, and the icing was tasteless. HOW? For Knoxville, this is another tool in the toolbox for those seeking Organic produce. Their selection is minimal, and you have to search through the mounds of non-Organic to find any treasures. They regularly email their ad specials, and on multiple occasions this store has not carried the items we're looking for in that ad. We seek out he staff, who have always been helpful, who tell us this store is smaller than the one in Farragut, and they don't carry everything here. To save time in the future, if there's something in the ad that I want, I'll go to the Farragut location instead. I've spent too much time walking around the store searching, then finding staff to ask, then following them around the store to so they can't find it either. It's a nice store with a great atmosphere. It would be a 3 star rating if it were not for the helpful and employees. read more

My favorite specialty grocery market in town. It's pricey so I generally just shop here holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, special occasions. Their bakery, and meat department is second to none. You find items here you simply can't get at other food stores in the Knoxville area. Simply put it's a treat and fun experience every time I come here. read more

Beware: they are using Kroger Instacart for curbside pickup, and it is a terrible system! Your "shopper" will start collecting your items (just like at Kroger) and invariably the things you wanted will NOT be found by your shopper, taking up a lot of your time while trying to figure out replacements, and if you decide you just want to cancel entirely after that frustrating experience, there is NO way to do that! I don't know... This place is striving to be something like Whole Foods? The assortment was quite poor, the prices are insane and their sushi lacked everything but presentation. The checkout process was quick, but the cashiers are really not friendly. One extra star for interesting baked itesms. We were visiting Knoxville from out of state and decided to stop by this adorable store this morning at 10 AM. We enjoyed the wide variety of organic and quality items. I had a hard time finding any vegan pre-made sandwiches or snacks for traveling. I decided to walk back over to the fresh bread selection located towards the back of the store. To my left there was a meat counter at the back of the store with two female employees behind it. I overheard them talking about my physical appearance and immediately felt uncomfortable. I put anything I was considering buying and left. I did not feel comfortable spending my money at a location where employees can openly talk about customers. I walked out quietly in tears as I did not want to cause a scene. After reading a few of the reviews below about the rude meat counter staff I can confirm that I am not alone in this experience and am surprised as to how this is allowed to continue. If you are sensitive I would consider shopping elsewhere even if they do have a wonderful selection of goods. read more

The service here is impeccable. I used to go to this store awhile back but it started getting disorganized. In the last couple months the store has completely changed the store is 100 times cleaner, the food is fresher and way more consistent, the costumer service is more polite and hands on, and their displays are absolutely gorgeous. I normally shop at the Farragut store, but Instacart always sends shoppers to the Knoxville location... big differences in attitude & help between the two. I will not recommend Knoxville as I always have issues even when I go in person instead of ordering online & I drive from Blount Co (equal distance to either store). Even my neighbor who helps me (I'm disabled) always says "we are going to OUR store, right?" I was looking forward to trying the popular Ancient Grain Cranberry Bread but as soon as I opened the bag I knew it was full of rancid sunflower seeds. No, I didn't taste it. I don't eat rancid seeds and nuts. What really gets me is this is coming from The Fresh Market, of all places. It's not OK to sell bad food. Somebody needs to step up quality control. read more

I broke my leg. While in the hospital for surgery, baby back ribs went on sale - 50% off. I called and asked if I could have a rain ck in a month or so. Manager was so accommodating and was glad to help. When I was released from hospital, rehab faCility kept me 2 wks. When I arrived home, I placed online order (first time ever for this type ordering) and had I it delivered (first time for this too). Great experience! Now I do this regularly. Gah. The Fresh Market - such an old favorite. You can find the best coffees, chocolates, flowers, produce and more in this boutique-like grocer. They have a vast selection of meats and seafoods too. Every Wednesday, they feature a new "Little Big Meal" - all the ingredients to make a full meal for about 4 people, for $25. It might be kebabs, tacos, pasta, noodle bowls - always features everything you need including dessert and sides or condiments. I dig the Fresh Market. Sure, it's kind of a pain to get to. And yes, it does have that pretentious feel about it. But it's the only place in town that carries a favorite nut butter of mine. The market is small and super clean. The produce department is one of my favorites. It's well laid out and super fresh. The prices are reasonable and when things are on sale, you can get great deals. The meat department provides beautiful cuts of meat (that you're going to pay for), and the staff is very pleasant and helpful. Their deli department is a great spot to grab an easy lunch or a grab and go dinner. I also really enjoy their cheese selection. Shop with your pinky up and you're bound to love it too. read more

I mean, if I'm wearing yoga pants and a hoodie and I get a craving for TFM's awesome tiramisu, I'm going to have to change into some real pants for a change. This isn't a typical grocery store. It's a gourmet market, so don't plan to do your everyday shopping here. This is the place you go for quality, unique, or specialty items. The meat counter, The bakery, and the deli are all fantastic. I don't think I've ever gotten anything I don't like. Sure it's spendy but you can be assured it tastes good and is good quality. Knoxville has quite a variety of grocery stores, given the size of the city. Besides here, there is Earth Fare, Trader Joe's, Food City, Kroger, Publix, and Aldi. That is a LOT of competition- even just in the alternative, ingredient-conscious variety of grocers. For this reason, I have to sink Fresh Market to two stars, because they just pale in comparison to their competitors. The layout to this store never seemed to flow correctly to me. The fresh produce section had a large amount of dehydrated fruits/vegetables(?) And places like this which cater to more health conscious shoppers usually have better labeling of ingredients in the items. For example, I love splurging on dishes made in-house at the deli counters. Unlike Earth Fare, Fresh Market doesn't label allergens in their ingredients (soy, wheat, shellfish, etc.) In fact, once I asked, I was told that not one single item in the deli's display case was vegan. I think I shopped here disappointedly twice before I switched to Earth Fare a block away. read more

I gave the Fresh Market a good rating because I can count on their meat to be good. It's not perfect & I can tell a difference since it's been sold to a larger cooperate group. Employees do not always seem as happy & some things are different---wine has become such a big item & some items are missing now. I do love the flower depot & particularly love Beverly who works it. So here's the drill with it comes to Fresh Market. It all starts with the coffee. As soon as you hit the door, you need to make a bee-line for the coffee counter. Invariably, you'll be elbowed by some crazy lady from Sequoyah Hills who is trying to get there first, but you've got to put up a decent fight if you want your thimbleful of free coffee. If it's hazelnut, peppermint, or any other weird flavor, just keep on moving til you get to the jellybeans. If it's coffee-flavored coffee, feel free to stop and have a cup. Careful with the sugar and creamer though. You're probably used to pouring that stuff into a real human-sized mug. How much cream do you need for a 1.5oz. shot of coffee? About 1/8th of a teaspoon. Good luck with that. Ditto on the sugar. After unsuccessfully preparing your coffee, you'll be left with a repellantly sweet, overly-creamered coffee-like beverage. It's okay though, because two aisles later, you'll just spill it down the front of your shirt while you're trying to tell the seafood guy that you want a pound of the most beautiful crab legs you've ever seen. What Fresh Market lacks in selection, they make up for in quality. Will you find Spaghetti-o's here? No. Hand-sliced proscuitto? Yes. Frosted Flakes? No. Taylor Pork Roll? Yes. For the win. Great deli, some of the best produce in the city, and an unbelievable meat counter. Bakery is better than average. Prepared foods are hit or miss. We haven't had a whole lot of success with buying dinner here. I recommend sticking to the staples. Honey ham and maple turkey from the deli are awesome. This is one of the few places in town that will actually slice meat thin enough to read a newspaper through it. But don't say I didn't warn you about the coffee. read more

This is a gourmet market and is good for what it is. They have a great beer, coffee, deli, and meat selection. Not an everyday shopping place if you're an average joe due to the higher prices, but if you're looking for a quality item for a special occasion then this is the place to stop. Love this place. Free tiny coffee on the way in. Fantastic chocolate and candy section. Pretty fresh flowers. Good fresh bread, pastries, meats (ex: bourbon salmon), beer, cheese, jams, sauces, etc. I like the fresh spinach & mozzarella pizza in the cheese area . Great place for a gourmet cook. Fruit and veggies always look fresh and beautiful. Love that classical music is always playing. I would say it's different than Earth Fare in a lot of ways, although the clients are probably similar and I like both for different reasons. Earth Fare has more healthy basics and Fresh Market has more indulgent goodies. Earth Fare has nothing on Fresh Market's chocolate/candy/pie selections! I love, love, love this place! They are so friendly and I just love walking around and looking at perfection listening to classical music and sipping my complimentary coffee before I shop. How many times do you love going to the grocery store? They have the best vegetables and fruit. It all looks like plastic it's so perfect. Good bakery, the best meat, and I love the deli and always splurge there. Get your staples elsewhere and your gourmet items here. They have all the hard to find items as well. I agree with most reviews posted here: very nice selection of foods but very, very rude staff. I stopped going just because of the attitude I got every time. Also, they stopped putting cakes in nice boxes and now cram them into unsightly plastic containers -- the Walmart experience at Fresh Market prices! Get your act together. The fresh market is where I go for special occasions because their prices are higher than my usual store. But I bought a leg of lamb there for Easter that was one of the worst I've ever eaten and I was very disappointed in their strawberries as well. I have shopped at Fresh Market for years. On two occasions now I have placed and picked up my meat order at the Papermill location. Sometimes life is to hectic and you have to make temporary changes for your schedule. My first order of ground chuck from Papermill, it was quite obvious that the fat content was much higher than the Farragut store so I tried to ensure that I was always ordering my meat from Farragut. Last week I had to use the Papermill location for my meat order. Today I cooked up a package of the ground chuck for taco salad. While it was cooking, it had a strange odor. I put the first bite in my mouth and literally run to the bathroom because I was gagging! I did vomit before it was over! The meat tastes like wild meat! I am so completely grossed out that I may become a vegetarian and I definitely won't purchase any additional meat at Fresh Market! I had already stopped purchasing their chicken breasts. No matter how you cook them, the texture is rubbery! Something is going on with your meat at Fresh Market! Get to the bottom of it because you will be losing customers. read more
