Back when I wrote my first review, in the good, old days of 2012, I lived on the same street as Old Town and it was easy to get to and had wine that I liked in my preferred price range (so...sweet, white and cheap...just like me! Hey-ooo! :-P) Now, I will regularly go out of my way to make a stop at Old Town. And these days it is primarily for their top notch beer selection! I am always prepared for the cold when I visit Old Town now, because I know I am going to be perusing the beer cave for quite some time. They rank among the top four places in Louisville I excitedly go to, in order to explore special, hard to find, interesting, sought after beer. Even if I am not looking for something specific, I am going to find something I already like if not something that piques my interest enough to try! The biggest plus of a visit to Old Town, aside from the friendly and helpful staff, is that you can buy just about all the beer options as SINGLES. This is huge. This changed my beer-drinking life. I have been able to try so many more beers because of this. When you aren't roped in to buying a four (or more) pack and the beer is 'fancy' and costs $5 or more per beer....doors suddenly open up! Old Town is in the middle of the Highlands, so parking can be tricky. They have a few dedicated parking spaces as well as a drive-thru (if you know exactly what you want) but beyond that it is going to be street parking. They still carry a great selection of wine and liquor, as well as some snack type things (thing cheese and crackers and chocolates). You should absolutely pay a visit to Old Town Wine and Spirits. Just leave some beer for me!

The shop has a great selection with bottles you do not always see on the shelves elsewhere, and the team is happy to explain differences and make recommendations without any pressure. I was excited to see that they had the newly released Eagle Rare 12 Year, so I definitely had to order a pour of that. I was on my way to a tour, so I couldn't stay long. I grabbed my drink and walked around looking at all their bottles available. I was like a kid in a candy store. The drinking area is more like a vineyard or brewery tasting room feel to it vs. a cocktail lounge - at least in the early afternoon. But they told me the are open to 11pm. I really wish I stayed longer so I could come back to try more bourbons. If or when I'm coming back to Louisville, this is definitely on my short list of spots I have to re-visit.
