    Red and Golden Delicious
    Pearl T.

The apples from this orchard are AWESOME! My husband and I took our 3.5 year old for his first apple picking adventure last weekend. We wanted a low-key, relaxing experience (not an amusement park experience) and this was perfect. We got there about 10:30 and there were already a couple dozen cars in the lot but they had parking attendants helping cars park to keep things orderly. We paid for our one peck bag ($15) and set off to the trees. The trees on the side we chose by the house were packed with Golden and Red Delicious. The Golden Delicious were THE BEST I'VE EVER TASTED!!! I've never cared for the Golden Delicious at the grocery stores (like another reviewer described... thick skinned and soft/mealy fruit) but these ones at Heinz Orchard were super crisp, crunchy and dense, and exploding with juicy sweet and tart flavors. WOW!!! It's been a week and we are almost done with all the apples we picked (we each snack on several a day!) I can't wait to go back again!

    Loved our apple-picking experience!

We are always looking for a good orchard to go with our 6-year old, and it seems that most of them these days are more about bouncy castles and markets full of pre-picked apples and pumpkin-scented candles. We just wanted to pick apples - and that's exactly what we were able to do at Heinz. It was an easy drive from the city, and the experience was exactly what we wanted. The owners were really friendly and welcoming, and it was great to get insight into the work that goes into tending the orchard. This will definitely be our orchard from now on!

Heinz is the best. No hayrides, no frills, just apples, the way it should be! My family had a wonderful time. Will definitely return.

The orchard had a very little variety of apples and they are not tasty. Overpriced for the quality.

It is a no frills orchard - but that is what I am looking for, not an amusement park with some apple trees like other places.

Their strawberries are truly the best I've ever tasted!! Check Facebook for the most recent updates if you plan on coming here! Do not rely on their Google page or their website for hours. Typically strawberry season starts early to mid June but it seemed to be delayed this year. I've been checking their Facebook everyday since early June and eagerly waiting for a day that finally worked out for me to come!! They advertised that strawberries were very limited the day I planned on going, but we filled an entire bucket in about an hour or less and we even got there 2.5 hours after they opened! I was so happy it all worked out. I just love the simpleness of this farm. There's no large attractions, big food court, or commercial feel to it. People pretty much just come here to pick berries then leave, which really keeps the crowds down too. Their farm allows for a peaceful activity to take your mind off of busy life for a bit and spend some quiet time in nature. They do have a small shop with a few souvenirs and other items, plus some small snacks such as chips, but they mostly encourage guests to bring their own food and enjoy a picnic on their picnic tables! I loved petting their little rabbits too. They were so friendly!!! I appreciate that they do not charge you until after you are finished berry picking. I've been wanting to go raspberry picking here as well, so I picked up three baskets. I was getting tired so I decided against it and was able to return the baskets easily. Overall amazing family-owned farm that I hope never changes and I can keep coming back to every year!

I think your experience here will depend largely on what time you visit and what they have to…read moreoffer. To me, it's more fun when there are significantly more people around, and during peak summertime when there are plenty of strawberries, red raspberries, and black raspberries, that is the most fun and, in my opinion, worth the higher price. Off season both strawberries and raspberries are not going to be very sweet. It's rare for me to find black raspberries just in general, so that is a major draw for me returning!! It is so much fun to pick your own berries and such a fun outing for families and kids! They run a tight ship about making sure people stay in certain areas before they open up more, so I can see how that can be an inconvenience for some. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my first experience and I definitely recommend a visit!!!
