Here's the bad: They've gotten very expensive at $55 per hour per gardener and require a one year contract. Your lead/contact gardener will NOT be on site while work is done. You will see gardeners on their phones while working one-handed. We have a hydrangea that borders on our neighbor's garden. The PPNW gardeners chose to prune only half of it leaving it weird looking and incomplete. Why they didn't knock on the door or call to ask if it was okay to prune the whole thing is a question unanswered by owner Shannon. Instead, she chose to cut off service to us as she felt it was rude of us to ask.

Their indoor gardening area is a huge greenhouse and there are different plants being offered for sale every time I've visited. They do restock, but this nursery is popular so if you're undecided just buy the plant :) They have a small cafe area which I haven't tried yet, but looks fairly popular with people bringing their dogs to hang out too. There are quite a lot of events and classes related to gardening on their website. One that I'll probably be going to is the rotating tool sharpening by Northwest Sharpening Services - quite cheap at $4 per tool.

Gerardo showed up, chatted with me about what I wanted, took measurements, and gave me a bid on the spot. I was moving into a house I was rehabbing and needed a portion of this fence done right away because I have a dog and he hustled to not only build the new portion I needed, but went out of his way to do some repairs on the existing fence to keep my dog safe and secure. He and the people working for him showed a lot of attention to detail, checked in with me often about the project to make sure it was coming along and looking as I expected, and every day at the end of the day the work site was clean and organized. I'm planning some plant installations and a new deck and Gerard's Landscaping is going to be my first call!

Verde Gardens stood out both because of the pictures on her website and her prompt response when I reached out. After talking on the phone we set up an appointment for her to come by and look at my yard. Michelle took stock of the space and suggested several ideas to see what I liked and what would fit in my budget. After this, she returned on a follow up appointment with drawings of the two potential layouts she had promised. To my surprise, she was so enthused she included a third option which turned out to be the one that my partner and I liked most. Next it was down to choosing materials and plants. Michelle provided the perfect amount of advice, giving me lots of different choices and making suggestions when I needed her input, and taking time to explain the cost differences on different paving stone options. She had a list of landscapers and chose one of her favorites to do my yard. Due to cancellations by other folks, I was able to get the landscaping work completed much faster than anticipated and was extremely pleased with the results. Verde Gardens exceeded my expectations. I would not recommend renting it for any purpose, especially if you are queer. My partner and I just rented the garden last weekend for our joint birthday party and relationship celebration. We booked the garden a year in advance and clearly told the staff member who helped us about our party and why we were celebrating. On the day of the event, at the very end of the celebration, the manager briskly strode up to me and, clearly upset, said to me, "So you're the bride huh?" I am a trans nonbinary person who has has top surgery and I do not appear feminine. I was confused why she was forcibly gendering me and insisting on calling me a bride and imagined she must not understand our event if she thought we were getting married. I answer with an unsure, "I guess you could call me that." She said, "I need to see you in the office," then turned and walked away. I found my partner and we went to the office. She remained visibly upset and launched into a lecture in which she explained to us that people spend much more money to get married at the gardens and that we should have paid more since we were having a wedding. We assured her we in fact did not get married and had been completely up front with the staff member we worked with about our plans. She continued to be suspicious and angry, answering that she had overheard one of our guests calling the event a wedding. We assured her again that we were celebrating both of us turning 40 and our relationship, not having a wedding, but that some of our friends had been joking it was our "not wedding." We suggested that staff member may need to be more clear in the future if relationship celebrations are not allowed. She responded that the staff member had since left and had recorded our event as, she said this smirking and making meaningful eye contact with us, "a birthday party." It was clear that she didn't believe us and was going to continue with her assumption that we were actively trying to lie to her and her staff. We left the office shaken with a terrible memory after a celebration we had spent the last year planning to create loving memories. While I understand that she may have been confused, she could have approached us with any amount of curiosity or grace. This was a confusion caused by a garden staff member recording our party in a way she didn't understand. I would expect to be treated better by anyone, but it was especially sad to be so poorly treated by someone we were paying to use their space on a special occasion. She had no qualms infusing the meaningful day with anger, conflict, suspicion, and bias right at the finishing moment. Manager, whoever you are, you didn't even take time to introduce yourself before laying into us, if you get to read this, I hope you can understand what a lasting impact your behavior had on our day. You work in the event industry, I hope your communication can increase enough for that to keep being a good idea for the people you will serve in the future.

New fence, multi-level rock garden on a steep front slope, front yard gardens/paths, garden faucet installation and the back rock patio. It turned out beautiful and they do all of the work themselves. We had the back yard landscaping portion of the plan completed in 2014, which included redoing the back fence line and building an arbor over the back gate. We get tons of compliments on the yard. Sherry and Glen are a joy to work with and very helpful with questions and taking into account the special needs or requests of their customers. I highly recommend their company.

She said not to worry about it and scheduled an appointment on Sunday, just a few days later. Sherry came right on time and spent a long time walking us through our garden, giving us ideas, tips and telling us how to take care of the plants. She taught us cool things like how to tell if individual branches are dead, or the best place to prune a rose back to. We didn't identify any major landscaping projects, and she didn't ask for any charge, just that we keep them in mind if we end up getting work done. We certainly will!

To be a small botanical garden, there's a nice walking path and many, many beautiful flowers and plants to see. There are often local community events hosted here. Activities for the young to adults. They have classes that you can find and sign up for on their website as well. And the classes are affordable!! You may even see people taking wedding photos here because again it's beautiful. The park is ADA friendly. The path is dirt and pebbled but can be navigated with a wheelchair. There are bathrooms on site and a small shop. I have never purchased bulbs or plants from here but I know there is a big community around that. The coffee shop in the garden can get busy. But a benefit is we were able to charge my husband's wheelchair there on a visit. While the park is open every day, the coffee shop is not. Definitely this should be a spot for all locals. And not just a one time visit either.
