Pizza; Buffalo chicken and the Meat, were great! Wish the pizza wasn't as soggy in the middle. Wings were good. Ranch sauce with dill was different. Mac and cheese is good. Wish it had more flavor Drinks were good

Pretty awesome pizza! The prosciutto and fig had lots of arugula and we got some hot honey on the side to drizzle on top. Crust was thin crisp and tasty. Fabulous. The pepperoni looks over baked but was delish. Our daughters loved it. Service was super friendly and attentive. Knowledgeable about the menu and flexible bringing small sides of Parmesan, hot honey, or pepper flakes. Now the ambiance...lovely tin ceiling in main bar area. Nice bar. Then...the chip board/plywood paneling with slats in the side dining room. Like sitting in a lobster trap. Perhaps striving for hip, def different, maybe budget constraints? Really whatever, 'cause the pizza great. So who cares?

Greeted by a super staff every time I come here. Welcoming and happy to see us. The pizzas are unique and delicious. I usually sit next to fire to watch them all cook. Drinks here are on another level! Soooo creative and outstanding.

Love this place! HUGE bourbon/whiskey selection. Great staff/bartenders. Great atmosphere, especially at the bar. Pizza and other food is great! Now they don't always have the rarest bottles but when they do they offer very fair pricing per pour which keeps me coming back.

When you're a pizza place named Krust, you better nail the crust. Krust did that, and more, on my first visit for takeout. We ordered the "Sausage" from the Red Menu, and the Dill, Bacon and Ranch from the White Pizza Menu. I watched both pizzas being cooked in the beautiful, wood-fired pizza oven. I saw the stack of wood, the flames and the pizza being skillfully moved to the different parts of the oven to ensure optimal cooking. I saw the juices pop. The crust bubbles and good char form. The result -- more of a Neapolitan style good chewy crust with great char flavor. The wood makes it . . . you know the rest. I loved the crust on both pizzas. I also loved the Sausage Pizza. In addition to sausage crumbles, the pizza had red peppers, onions, fresh ricotta and a spicy sauce that reminded me of Arrabbiata. Everything about this worked for me -- especially the sauce. It's not everybody else's sauce, which I respect. I often order an oddball pizza like the Dill Bacon Ranch. Thin dill pickle slices. Crumbled bacon. A Ranch Sauce that I believe had a dill component. The pizza was sooo close to great. It was just too salty. If either the pickle or the ranch sauce had been sweeter, I think the flavors would have balanced. Again, the crust was great though. We also ordered the Buffalo wings, which seemed to be baked in the pizza oven, and an Arugula Salad with pickled red onions, parmesan, candied nuts and a lemon Vinaigrette. Liked the salad. Not my favorite wing preparation. I was a big fan of the vibe. I enjoyed a Fiddlehead Imperial IPA while I waited for my pizzas, which were done earlier than the Ordering App predicted. That gave me the chance to look around. Great whiskey and craft beer options. The exposed oven was cool. The outside wood for the restaurant was nicer than you would expect. Wood was also effectively featured inside. Krust is one of the nicer pizza places you will visit. It feels almost like a nice sushi restaurant. In a small state flush with great pizza options, I'll come back to Krust. 4.5 Stars

Loving the vibe of krust. Always a cozy spot for friends to meet and have a night out on Main Street. Great services, great food, great drinks, and never gets old! Wish there was a location closer to Simsbury in our area! Pictures say it all. Huge fan of the pepperoni pies and hanger steak special appetizers.

Krust was on my list for a while but I am rarely in Middletown, so imagine my surprise when I came here for a warehouse party with no food, was hungry and needed to eat. Krust is great for crowds and not too loud so you can carry a conversation but the gem of this place is well, the crust. There's just something about a city's water that makes its baked goods taste amazing, New York, SF...Middletown? Yes, this crust was pillowy and had a satisfying bite that perfectly melded with the vegan cheese we ordered, not burnt to a crisp (looking at you Modern). Though cheesy breads with dairy were ordered, our non vegan companions felt the vegan cheese was better. The white pizza was described as the cheesy bread but with basil, so take that for what it's worth. The drink selection is vast, though the names are cutesy, they were not too watered down. I wish I could have ordered a bourbon flight but there's always next time. The staff is lovely and attentive to allergy requests (thanks Marissa). They have single occupancy restrooms that have graffiti on the walls in that old college town/dive bar way. I highly recommend this place.

Our first visit to Krust and it was great! I love the wooden booths - very unique. Great Moscow mule, just wish it was a copper mug! We had 4 pizzas for 4 people and we all left with some slices to go home and the bill was very reasonable so that was great! Great service too! -Cassie AKA @eatwithcmg on Instagram

Great selection of bourbon drinks, good pizzas and nice ambience. My first time at Krust and I enjoyed it. Lite crust wood fire pizzas. The options of red and white pizzas are limited, which is good in a way for you to make your choices. The drinks were the highlights for me and I definitely will try them again.

We came here on a Wednesday and it was way less busy. We were able to get seated immediately, at any table of our choosing, and it was a nice quiet atmosphere on a Wednesday dinner. Perfect for our date night. I tried the meatball gluten free pie this time and we shared a house salad which was a great idea, the salad we'd delicious.

Located at the end of a busy street is Krust. From the outside, you wouldn't think much. When you walk in, there is a very rustic, the construction workers didn't finish vibe, but in all the best ways. Visited on a Wednesday night and it was not terrible busy around 6pm. The food was delicious, drinks were good too. Our waitress was wonderful and the bartender would come and refill our water As well. Service was a 10/10. Food was a 9/10. And the drink was a 8/10. My only issue was the fries on my animal pizza needed to be cooked longer. Definitely check this place out!

Decent place for pizza in Middletown, bring a group and split a few pies! I'd say reasonably you could get 2 pizzas for every 3 people in your group. We got a classic 'roni, sausage, plain white, and burger pie. It was more than enough for our group of 5. We also split an artichoke dip, which was small but good. The plain white was actually a crowd pleaser, the sauce was good and balanced out the rest of the pie well. The crust gets a little soggy, and you'd probably need to use utensils if you get a pizza with a bunch of toppings. There's two rooms you can sit in, the one with the bar area and another one to the right that has more seating, is a bit brighter, and is quieter. We opted for the quieter room, which was nice because the music wasn't too loud there.

Buffalo chicken pizza, meatball pizza, sidecar and Moscow mule.

I had the Christmasaurus in a red ceramic dinosaur and my wife had a Butter Rum Mocktail in a winking Santa mug. My drink was tasty and the mugs were fun. We bought a couple of the fun mugs to go. A person who I believe was the owner and the chef, was wearing a Christmas sweater and obviously loves the Christmas theme. Our server who doubled as the bartender was a bit more stoic about the theme. LOL. The food was generally good. It seemed like the pretzels may have picked up another aroma from the kitchen while the pretzels were cooking, because they had a slight aftertaste. Manageable, but not ideal. The pretzels looked great and had good texture. The beer cheese dip and mustard dip were both good. My pretzel stuffed with Mac and Cheese and short rib was good. We also split some holiday snack mix and Carolina BBQ wings. They were probably my favorite part of the meal. 4 Stars. The Hop Knot is definitely a place to check out. I was visiting Connecticut last week for wedding and staying with some friends in Middletown. I arrived on a Tuesday night with a hungry stomach so we figured Eli Cannon's was an easy spot to hit up. I went here many, many, many years ago when I still lived in Connecticut (I live in LA now) but don't remember much of the experience other then what the inside looks like and man, it still looks the exact freaking same. We arrived around 8PM and got seated right away. The staff was super attentive with providing drinks and menus and the kitchen staff had the food out super quick as well. I kept it simple and ordered a Buffalo Chicken Wrap with a side of french fries and really enjoyed it. The Buffalo Chicken Wrap tasted great and the hot sauce wasn't overpowering. The french fries here were crispy and tasted great, the perfect pairing for a late night bite (look, eating out at 8PM is late for me). Overall, Eli Cannon's is mostly a bar, but is also a pretty solid place to grab a bite to eat. The place truly is Middletown and with friends living nearby, I can definitely see myself returning in the future for some night time grub.

The burger was more like a mush pancake and the bun was way too big for the burger as well as not that toasted which might have made it seem not as fresh; i will order it again to see if it was a fluke since I appreciate the effort to make it themselves as opposed to serving a frozen black bean burger . If it is always like that, it's a texture problem for me. Please put some hooks on the outside rail for purses to hang from when sitting at the mini picnic tables since there are no chair backs

He first began experimenting with homebrewing when his brother-in-law gifted him a Mr. Beer kit. The first batch of Bergen's homebrew was awful, but the kit came with an interesting book that he read over and over again. He soon became fascinated with the science behind brewing and fermentation. Later on, a friend gifted him a bottle of homemade mead. Bergen's wife Emilie liked it much more than any beer she ever tried, so he decided to try his hand at crafting mead. Mead is a fermented beverage made from a mixture of honey, water and yeast. It is the oldest fermented beverage known to man (predating beer, wine and cider). Like his first batch of beer, Bergen's first batch of mead was also awful. After several months, Bergen finally began making mead that was drinkable. The Bergens later had an idea to open their own brewery. After seeing how many breweries that Connecticut already had, they instead decided to open a meadery. The Bergens found a space in Middletown's old trolley barn building to house their meadery and taproom. Although not the state's only meadery, Bergen House is the only one to have its own taproom for on-site consumption. I recently visited Bergen House for the first time after going for a long bike ride on the nearby Air Line State Park Trail. I was greeted by Emilie Bergen who was very friendly and talked to me about the different meads. There were eight different meads on tap during my visit. Each one has different spices and fruits added for flavoring. I ordered a sampler flight which featured "Crime Scene" (Rye Bourbon Barrel-Aged Sweet & Sour Cherry Mead), "Local Buzz" (Dry Mead made with local honey from Hilltop Apiaries), "Wally" (Off-Dry Mead made with wildflower honey, green tea and Citra hops), and "Grapefruit Meads Business" (Wildflower Mead flavored with rosemary, grapefruit & ginger). The latter two were my favorites! Emilie also gave me a small sample of "Bochet": a traditional French Mead made with wildflower honey caramelized before fermentation. I ended up taking home a growlito of "Wally", which tasted a lot like a honey-infused New England IPA. I had a great experience at Bergen House and I look forward to returning!

They do offer a free lot in the back, but judging by all the cars, Mondo is very popular on a Friday evening. Sure enough, there was a big line of people picking up orders, but we walked right in and were seated immediately. We started off with a beet salad, which was surprisingly delicious, combining candied walnuts and sweet orange and green apple slices with salty feta and tangy balsamic over a mountain of mixed greens. We then moved on to paninis, generous portions of meat and toppings on freshly baked, crispy bread. One of us chose more mixed greens tossed with dressing while the other chose crunchy French fries. We also ordered a third panini to go, the Mondo combo. We asked for fries; the kitchen accidentally gave us a salad. Our server, Heather N., saved the day by noticing the error and giving us both side orders. Mondo is family friendly, and there were plenty of children during our visit.
