Aretha Frankensteins - My far the best pancakes I have ever had !

The pancakes are the real star of the show here with the ambiance a very close second. The walls…read moreand ceiling were lined with vintage cereal boxes, movie posters, skeletons, and goblins. For all the tangible, retro, nostalgia-coated decor that calls back to a time when practical effects were how monsters were made it is so surprising then to see their merch emblazoned with AI slop. I wanted a shirt because I'm a sucker for glow-in-the-dark anything, but not enough of a sucker to buy the slop shirt. The biscuits were so-so, the gravy tasted like Cracker Barrel's (which isn't necessarily a bad thing, it's just not what you'd expect from a place like this), but the fried potatoes and the pancakes were so good. I'll definitely skip the biscuits and gravy and just order the pancakes and potatoes if I make it back there again. Those were the standouts to me. The poor girls working the front of house were short staffed and being run ragged, but they were still very nice and attentive. It also seemed to be one of their birthdays unfortunately. This is such a cool little spot marred only by the fact that the wait times get crazy and some of their merch uses AI generated imagery

The expected from recommendations: Fun, Funky and eclectic little very little restaurant (only 7…read moretables)-in a residential area north side of Chattanooga. No parking, find street parking. Put yourself on the waitlist, no reservation. Up to 1 hour wait on weekends. Menu is classic American breakfast style The not so good: the chef was not in the mood... The house pancakes are huge and fluffy corn bread style - while I was not expecting this style at all, I enjoyed the texture and flavor. Just be aware if u order for kids. That dish could have been amazing unfortunately we could only enjoy 1 as the other was burnt and hidden on the bottom of the stack. The spicy grits were clumpy and completely bland. The super dave dish was flavorless scrambled eggs with garnish on top. The biscuits were cold and dry. This local eatery could have been a 5 but the food ruined the whole experience especially after waiting 1 hour for the table and another 30 min for the food. Disappointed...

To be frank, we did not start off our morning with plans to dine at Kenny's. We were headed to a…read morecompetitor on Chestnut but didn't know they only operated M-F! We had heard of Kenny's from our neighbor but hadn't taken the time to try. What a happy accident! It wasn't busy, due to the weather so we found a seat right away. We were greeted almost immediately and had coffee within minutes, which is crucial! ;-) our waiter was super friendly and was very helpful with comments and suggestions when we told him it was our first time. I ordered the croque madame and my wife ordered the EC Sammy with egg whites, bacon, and cheese on a biscuit. We split them. Both were excellent but I think the next time we'd just split the croque madame! It is a very big sandwich! So the food was great overall but as I alluded in the beginning the service was what makes this a 5-star rating! We will go again.

I ordered the grilled cheese and tomato soup, and it absolutely hit the spot. The sandwich was loaded with gooey melted cheese and had an epic cheese pull that every grilled cheese lover dreams about. Paired with the rich, comforting tomato soup, it was the ultimate rainy-day meal. The food came out quickly, and everything was hot and delicious. As a sweet surprise, they brought me complimentary birthday beignets with strawberry sauce. They were light, fluffy, and the strawberry sauce was the perfect finishing touch. Great food, fast service, and a thoughtful birthday treat made for a wonderful experience. I'd definitely stop by again the next time I'm in Chattanooga.
