A Bachata Sensual school in the heart of Manhattan promoting right techniques, while creating a culture that is safe, inclusive, respectful????? Sign me TF up ASAP please. Something wonderful and magical is happening right here at this studio. This place creates a sense of security with graceful dancing. The focus here is the proper techniques for respectful dancing that genuinely feels good while promoting authentic connections between dancers. This place is not ego driven, it doesn't play on power. Simply such good vibes all around. If you're reading this at a point when you're ready to quit dancing bachata as a follow because bachata stopped feeling good, give this gem a try. (Zero sexual harassment here despite the dancing being sensual - which speaks volumes of the culture that's created here ) If you're reading this as a lead who wants to be able to safely lead a follower - if your goal is not to show off how drastically you can whip her, or to demonstrate power over her body, but to create beautiful art forms with your bodies in harmony, give this gem a try. If you've never taken a bachata class before, and want to learn with the least amount of nervousness, the most amount of support, kindness and humor, give this gem a try. If you're an advanced dancer and want to refine your techniques, give this gem a try. Bottom line, give this gem a try.

I traveled from another…read morestate specifically to take class here, which already says a lot about how much I value the experience. This time, I took class with Amber, and she is truly a 10 out of 10 -- from her character to her teaching style, choreography, and ability to educate dancers in real time. She doesn't just teach steps; she teaches movement vocabulary and helps you understand how to inhabit the choreography as it unfolds. That presence and clarity make the experience special. A lot of what I enjoy about Sass Class comes down to both the choreographers and the energy of the space. That said, there are some practical considerations. There is no elevator, which can be challenging because of the number of stairs you have to go up and down. The studio itself is small but functional. There's a small waiting area, a check-in desk, two bathrooms, and a spot to quickly change if needed. There are two studios, which allows classes to run smoothly without feeling crowded. The location is central, not far from Moynihan Train Hall or Port Authority, and there are plenty of food options nearby for before or after class. Overall, SASS Class continues to be a space I value. I fully intend to take more classes there in the future. For me, it's about the quality of instruction, the intentionality of the movement, and the community -- and that keeps drawing me back.

Most of the songs felt really slow (barely broke a sweat), the moves overall felt disassociated from the music and she would stop doing the moves during class to basically test if we knew what was supposed to come next. Not particularly helpful. She saw a fair amount of women struggling with the moves (including myself) but still chose to do this. There was maybe 2 songs that felt good but everything else was meh. I also didn't like how she incorporated non-dance moves into the choreography which really took me out of the mood of being excited to dance with no judgment. I love Zumba so would be willing to come back to try it with a different instructor, but wouldn't come back for her particular class.

It wasn't a long wait time. Headed to seats in the balcony. Balcony seating is steep and there are moments you and everyone else in front of you have to stick your head and neck out to see what's going on. It wasn't full so I moved to the aisle after intermission. More roomy since I can spread my legs but if I had a choice I would sit in the lower level. Seems so high parts are obstructed. Show, sounds, and scenes were good. Theatrics was on point. Prepare time or leave a bit earlier if you are in a rush if you sit in the balcony. Takes awhile to get to exit. Otherwise, if you have a seat preference, choose the mezzanine and enjoy the show.

I was really looking forward to seeing The Lost Boys in Broadway because I love the movie and it's extra special to me since it's what got me into vampires. Since my dad introduced me to that movie and loves vampires as much as I do, I brought him with me to see it on Wednesday night. Unfortunately, it was a bad experience from the get-go. We were first sent to the wrong section by the ushers and instead of being sat at the balcony area, we were sat at the mezzanine area. Our seats hardly had legroom and it's okay for a shorty like me but my father basically had to do a split in order to sit down. When the show was about to start, we found out that we were in the wrong seats and then I was informed that we had to go all the way up. As a random patron pointed where our seats were, I flipped my head back and got vertigo in reverse. This definitely is a massive theater. So as my dad and I tried to squeeze out of our seats and walk around the crowd in the narrow aisle, I lost my shoe as I tripped on one of the stairs and almost fell down, which I've added to my list of near life-and-death experiences. Thank God one of the people behind me pushed me back up and even placed my shoe in front of me as if I were Cinderella. When we finally got to our correct seats, we ended up with more legroom somehow but turned into turtles because we had to stick our necks out to see the whole stage. I could have handled all that discomfort and initial bad experience if the show had been true to the movie. Somehow, they made this vampire movie more sentimental than it was meant to be. The most disappointing moment for me was when they got to the bridge scene and I was at the edge of my seat for the big plot twist when all of a sudden it becomes a scene straight from a Lifetime movie. I came to see a cool show about vampires but they didn't even dive much into the vampire lore. They focused more on the characters' feelings than anything else. There were moments that the story dragged so much that my father and I fell asleep. So once the first act finished, glanced over at my father who looked like he was freezing because somehow the theater was colder than it was outside. I decided to give him the option to leave and he basically bounced out of there. I do think the actors are very talented because they have amazing voices and they really tried to honor the movie characters with their portrayals, but the story couldn't hook me in.

I saw this show many years ago, and I recently got to visit again, this time bringing my family along. I couldn't wait for my kids to see it. It was my son's first Broadway show and he was absolutely mesmerized. I made sure to get Orchestra aisle seats so we could see the animals making their way down to the stage for the Circle of Life and for other parts of the show. We were sitting right where the enormous elephant comes down and it was incredible to see. Speaking of the Circle of Life, it gets me SO emotional every time! I grew up loving The Lion King and this show just does it so much justice. The production value is to die for. The lighting, the scenery, the way they play with perspective. It's just all so amazing. And the singing? And the acting? I can just go on and on. I also love how they added "They Live in You" into this production, along with "Shadowland" and "Endless Night." It is so touching and moving. It's a great show to take your children to. I know it can be pricey, and there never really is a good deal per se, but if you are able to swing it and get tickets, you won't be sorry you did.
