We came here when visiting friends who are local to the area, they love it and recommended we all go! So let's break it down. The service was friendly and prompt. I mean super prompt, like appetizer and meals came out seconds apart rather than 10-15 minutes or so. Very attentive waitstaff when clearing dishes because there was a lot and just overall so nice. Now on to the food, excellent hibachi dinners, tempura was cooked perfectly though this place had way more coating on it than other places, and the sake was great! Had a Fuji Apple one which was very good. From the outside, you would not think to come here unless you heard what the locals say. I always love coming to this place. Although the decorations are a little outdated and the outside could use a little cleaning, the comfort inside, and the friendliness of the bartender, and the delicious food always makes me regret not coming here more often. I had a Christmas Roll today which was quite delicious. I like a little more crunch on my Crunchy roll's, but what they had was actually nice and light. I have attached two photos below of some of the craft work that these chefs put together. This is some quality presentation that you don't even get at some of the more expensive and fancy or sushi restaurants. I do regret that the outside looks as dingy as it does because it really undersells the quality of food you receive inside. Once inside, you can either sit in one of the comfortable boots, at the hibachi grill, at the bar, or right along side of the sushi area. I really like watching the chefs work myself. Although I did not have the hibachi this time, I love the way that they fry their rice. It is super tasty. Their hibachi chefs will put on a fun show for you if you have a group so don't hesitate. This was a nice stop for a Christmas lunch I must say, and it is especially nice because you can sit with a friend and have a conversation over A couple of nice green tea. If you read my reviews, you know that I am a fan of cocktails, and they do have plenty of those, but this was a green tea kind of afternoon on a green Christmas day. read more

Everything tastes great and definitely feels as fresh as possible. The portions are a bit small, but when you're eating sushi it's not about having giant portions. It's about having a quality meal made with fresh ingredients. Street-side, this place doesn't look like much. Not much landscaping and the building right behind the restaurant (in the middle of their parking lot) looks abandoned. But once you go inside, you realize you're in a classy restaurant with a very clean design and professional atmosphere. Prices. Sushi is decently priced, but the appetizers seem overpriced for the amount you get. If they added a couple extra cream cheese bites or a few more squids to the fried calamari, this review would get a solid 5/5. Overall: Eat here if you like Japanese food. Surprisingly good Japanese Steak House, Hibachi & Sushi Bar in Westfield, Massachusetts out along Highway 20 between Westfield and West Springfield. Sushi bars seem to have sprung up in every little town across the country, and Westfield is no exception. What separates K's from many other small town Japanese restaurants is the fact that their food is extremely good! It was a chilly & rainy night so I went in search of some hot soup and hot tea, and I found this place sitting out along Main Street, across from a shopping plaza. The restaurant is divided into three distinct sections.......the requisite seats at the sushi bar, some booths along the wall for intimate dining, and the separate room for the Hibachi chefs to dazzle the crowds with their spinning spatulas and flashy knife skills. I sat at the sushi bar and ordered a pot of green tea along with a cup of miso soup - the traditional broth made from bean paste, tofu, seaweed, and scallions. Both were served hot, and they were quite delicious. I tried a couple of their house specialty rolls including the Black Pepper Tuna roll which was spicy crab, seaweed salad, and cucumber slices inside with seared sliced peppered tuna and avocado on top with wasabi mayo. My other roll was their Crazy Roll which was spicy tuna, yellowtail, and salmon with tempura flake and avocado, wrapped with slices of mango, and topped with mango sauce and red tobiko. I also had two servings of sashimi - Striped Bass and Yellowtail Belly. The fish was incredibly fresh and delicious, and the chefs did a marvelous job plating the rolls and the sashimi in a very artistic way. 10 points for presentation from the Iron Chef judges!!! It helps to know just a few words of Japanese if you plan to frequent sushi bars. The basic "hello", "thank you", and "good bye" will really work wonders on your servers, and they immediately stop treating you like a dumb gringo. That's just my opinion, and your mileage may vary.... This is one of my go-to restaurants while in the area. I've never had a bad meal at K's. read more

My experience at K's restaurant was one of the greatest dinner events I have ever encountered. I went here with one of my best friends for a late evening craving, and we ended up eating more than we originally thought we would! Our taste buds couldn't get enough of the exquisite and unique food they offered all over the menu. The restaurant's atmosphere was very soothing, and calm to dine in. The lighting wasn't too intense, nor was the music they were playing. It was fairly crowded; considering that it was a Saturday night. But, the volume of the area was never too much to bare. As soon as her and I were seated, we almost immediately got offered our starter drinks. We each ordered ourselves pink lemonade, and the drinks were placed on our shared clean table in no time at all. Both of us had been there prior to our visit, so we already knew exactly what we wanted for our meals. We each ordered pork dumplings, and a side of hibachi rice with yum-yum sauce. (the sauce is optional, but it makes for a really pleasant como with the rice and the dumplings too) To "spice" up my meal, I decided to try their avocado cucumber roll. The price of the rolls was only about 4 dollars, so the cheapness made me want to try it even more. The overall meal itself wasn't too expensive. However, we didn't sit in the hibachi area, so that's most likely why the price was so much lower. Again, not too much time passed before our dishes are put onto our small table. The avocado cucumber rolls were very neatly wrapped up, and folded perfectly together. There were about 6 small rolls on the plate, and I couldn't wait to try something new. I lightly dipped the edge of the roll into some soy sauce, and dropped the entire thing into my mouth. The exterior was rough and textured, but once I bit down, the softness of the vegetables and rice complimented each other perfectly. The mouth watering splash of refreshment and light savory flavor caused me to gobble those down in a hurry. I moved my attention over to the plate of dumplings next to me, and picked one up to take a bite. The soft skin of the dumpling perfectly went along with the delicate pork stuffed inside of it. My friend and I both agreed that the flavor was to die for. Lastly, we had a small bowl of rice left to eat. Quickly, the rice bowl was empty; along with the yum-yum sauce as well. All of the food each had their own unique taste. Which made the dinner interesting, yet desirable. I personally would recommend this place to anyone who lives in it's area. If you're looking to not spend too much money, don't sit in the hibachi area. The food on that side is definitely worth it, but if you're just looking for an easy, inexpensive dinner, eat in the dining area instead. :) read more

I was going to my birthday dinner at K's at around 5pm, and when I got there In the parking lot it was a little tight and they didn't have many spots but we managed to fit. The restaurant was very dark but had different color lights on. It looked really fancy in some way, but it wasn't really a fancy restaurant. The waiter came really fast asking for our drinks. We both got pink lemonade and the whole time we were there they just kept refilling our drinks for free. The menu had lots to choose from but I ended up getting hibachi rice and steamed beef dumplings and my friend ended up getting the same but added cucumber avocado sushi roll. That came out really fast and the food was absolutely marvelous:) The rice was warm and none of it was overcooked or undercooked, it had a mouth wadering smell, and when I ate it I could taste the egg they scramble in it and the soy sauce they put in it and same for the dumplings they looked plump and moist. They had a squishy texture and they were easy to bit into and they smelled fresh and my friend said her sushi rolls were fantastic:) The prices weren't too bad maybe in the high $$ but it was worth it In conclusion the food at K's was fantastic and so was the service. Go to sushi restaurant right in town! Menu is fairly stagnant, but if it's not broke don't fix it!!! There are specials weekly, they also do hibachi which I had for the first time a few days before. The servers have been there for a while, and one in particular remembers almost everyone and what they order if you're a semi regular, which is really cool. Service is always prompt, rolls are prepared fresh and of course hibachi right in front of you. This time I enjoyed the Lady Gaga roll, which had crunchy shrimp and salmon and was absolutely superb, so good I didn't even need soy sauce. The fiancée got one as well, and we split a classic: the Philadelphia roll which comes with cream cheese, avocado, and salmon wrapped in sea weed and covered with rice. We also had a scorpion bowl, which I felt was on the lighter side but none the less dinner went off without a hitch and we were in and out but not rushed. Will definitely be back for our next fix. Come here and enjoy their hibachi-dinners range in the 20s but portions are plentiful and you get free saki, so I don't see a problem. read more

The first thing I can say is that the service at K's was great. Staff was attentitive, even during a very busy weekday night. It's a decent looking spot, with a modest sushi bar, a number of booths and several hibachi tables. The maki we got came out well, along with the speciality roll, and their steamed shumai were tasty. There were three chefs working vigorously to meet the demand for rolls during the busy evening. I also got the chirashi dinner, and unfortunately I can't say that the sashimi was as fresh as I'd like - a few of the pieces were all right, but most were a bit more chewy than they should be. Overall it was a good atmosphere and all right meal, I'd potentially go back to try the hibachi. read more

I stopped in this evening because my wife went out with friends so I was by myself. I took my time with a seaweed salad and then some sushi. With the sushi I got some snow flake cold sake. It took a while to come out because it wasn't cold yet. They brought it chilled with the sushi and it went perfect with my sushi. I was in heaven. I savored both to the last bite. Fresh sushi and the staff always acknowledge me as they walked by. I tried them years ago and was unimpressed. I've been here about five times this year and they know what they're doing. Westfield used be well...a dive. Granted there's a university there but for years it was like a lot of the old New England industrial towns...pretty gritty and sort of Old Grandad in a paper bag worthy. These days things are a little better...still bits of well worn but the downtown has improved included some interesting eateries including a pierogi place. Found this sushi place out by the generica strip mall on Route 20. Despite the exterior appearance that almost looks like a beaten up stand alone Chinese eatery from the 1970s...this place is a bona fide gem. K's has the sushi and a hibachi grille. Granted I'm not into the goof ball onion volcano and knife theatrics that appeals to a lot of steroid laden looking individuals with gold chains, but the sushi in here is probably as good as I've had in the Hartford-Springfield region. Some of the highlights included the Japanese red snapper and tuna (cut into a virtual scallop design). The sashimi is fresh and quite large for portion size. Very fair price here as well... Happy to find this place and is a great stopover if you are riding the Mass Pike across the state.. read more
