Located inside Westfield-Barnes airport, this was a cool location to have some sushi with my lover. I came on Juneteenth, which counts as a holiday as they did not serve their lunch menu. We started off with the kani salad which was delectable and very nicely portioned. I had the hot and spicy ramen with pork belly which was also so delicious. The pork still had a bit of crisp to it and the noodles were nice and chewy. I was surprised to find half a hard boiled egg as well as a crispy sunny side egg. It was also filled with some mushrooms, spinach, and very toasty corn kernels (a good amount were burnt and black). I also had the salmon tempura sushi roll, which was kinda small for being a specialty roll. My fiancé had the Hawaiian roll and the Philly roll and also enjoyed it. With nice views of the planes flying by, this was definitely a unique experience. Customer Service Complaint - Tobiko Sushi Restaurant I am writing to express my disappointment with the service and overall experience my group received at Tobiko this weekend. Prior to our visit, I called the restaurant in advance because we had a large party of approximately 25 people. I wanted to make sure the restaurant was aware of our group and to understand whether there were any procedures or accommodations we needed to make in advance. I was informed that there was no call-ahead service and that orders could not be placed in advance. Despite contacting the restaurant ahead of time, our group experienced significant delays and a lack of accommodation. We waited approximately 45 minutes for two sushi and sashimi combination orders, which was particularly disappointing given the size of our group and the fact that we ultimately spent more than $1,000 on food. Unfortunately, the service from the waitstaff was also disappointing. The staff was not particularly courteous or attentive, and there appeared to be little effort made to accommodate or effectively manage a large party. I understand that serving a group of 25 can be challenging; however, I expected a greater level of communication, professionalism, and customer service given the amount of business we were bringing to the restaurant. The interaction with Alisa, the manager on duty, was especially frustrating. Rather than helping resolve the situation, I found her manner to be condescending. She insisted that members of our group remain in their seats throughout the meal, which felt unnecessarily restrictive and made the experience even more uncomfortable. Additionally, I was paying for several platters for members of our group, yet Alisa insisted that each individual table cover its own check. While I understand that restaurants may have policies regarding separate checks, the way this was communicated and handled made it unnecessarily difficult for me to pay for the food I had agreed to cover. My concern is not simply that we experienced a long wait. It is the combination of the lack of preparation for a large group, extended wait times, poor communication, unprofessional customer service, and the manner in which the manager handled the situation. For a group that spent over $1,000 at the restaurant, I expected a much higher level of customer service and professionalism. Unfortunately, this experience left a very negative impression. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Tobiko for large parties, particularly groups of more than six people. If the restaurant chooses to accommodate large groups, I believe there should be clearer procedures and expectations for both the customers and staff to ensure that these situations are handled professionally. I hope management will take this feedback seriously and review how large parties are handled, as well as the customer service provided by management and waitstaff. Dropped into Westfield-Barnes (MA) Regional Airport (also a National Guard Base) with a student for fuel and figured we would get a coffee and a quick bite. When I saw their only restaurant served sushi I had doubts. Their food was outstanding. I was initially skeptical so had the shrimp tempura which came with tower of fresh onions and broccoli. The onions were delicious as were the broccoli. The shrimp were very good. ($9). I should have done as my student and ordered a noodle dish. He had the Ramen Bulgogi Special ($18) which was huge and looked delicious with a fried egg floating on top. The location is inside the airport terminal yet decorated like a pub, with a bar and booths overlooking the airfield,, clean and bright. The bar has a nice tap selection though we could not partake. TLDR: Food presentation was good, but not the flavor. Small airport is a cool place for a restaurant Not a big fan of giving negative reviews, so let's start with what I liked about the setting: 1.) There were a lot of people, which is a great setting if you did want to order drinks (I did not). 2.) My 3 year old loved watching the planes and occasional jet take off and land. We had a great seat by the window. We ordered the Japanese Curry Katsu, Korean Bulgogi, and Tuna roll. Only had Japanese Curry one other time at Genki Ramen in Cincinnati, but that prior experience was vastly superior. Bulgogi is something that I do enjoy with regularity and sometimes cook at home. My wife commented on how nice the dish looked, but the beef color was achieved by over searing, not from soy sauce and the carmelization of sugar. It tasted burnt and was begging for garlic, ginger and sweetness. Tuna roll was pretty standard, but they did also provide the less attractive end pieces. I'm not a sushi snob, but the portion size was about as expected, so getting the ends didn't really feel like a bonus. read more

The yellowfin sashimi I ordered was a bit rubbery, and perhaps that is why this particular (and usually popular) fish wasn't featured in more rolls. The veggie choice was nice, but the dark hibachi noodles are deceiving. More color does not mean more flavor. Even the soy sauce was "is it there" in flavor. (For reference, K's here in town knows hibachi flavor. )I would say that there was good service, and if I were looking for a fill-in for dinner, I might try a roll next time, which my partner did like, and he really liked the kimchi. Tokbiko might be my favorite restaurant in Westfield, MA. It's not in the center of town but hidden inside Barnes Airport but it's well worth the drive once you see the view and taste the food. The wait staff is so nice and accommodating, if you sit at the bar the bar tenders are so funny and attentive. In the summer you can enjoy outdoor seating on the roof top. My go-to favorite is the Hot and Spicy Ramen! I usually swap the pork for chicken and add an extra soy egg (the hard boiled one!) and am in heaven. I can never finish my ramen in one sitting but would still recommend eating your first pass over the bowl at the restaurant. This place has my heart! Hands down one of the best Ramen's I have had around Massachussetts. The service? Even better. Our waitress was so lovely and attentive and made sure all of our questions from the menu were answered and she was always making sure we had everything we needed. Parking is available in the premises! The entrance is shared with the airport entrance and honestly, I wish Tobiko was at all the airports!! Went for a business lunch. I work in EMS/Medical Flight so the venue is great in my opinion. It's got a great view, the seating area/bar are standard, nothing super fancy but kept up well and clean. The staff was friendly, it wasn't very busy, but still took about 5-7 minutes to be seated, that doesn't work when you are on a tight schedule. I noticed the taps and they had Fresh Pick and a few other local craft choices, that's a plus. The food came out fairly quickly, another plus. I had a spicy tuna roll that was good, the ginger was fresh and the wasabi moderately hot/spicy. Good flavors on the roll, and even better on the standard ramen. The rice was tasteless and the size of a pretzel nugget. The fish was way out of proportion to the fish making it very difficult to enjoy. Have I not reviewed this place despite being there what must be over 25 times? The owner and staff are all very pleasant and the restaurant has always been neat and clean. The sushi rolls and whatnot are made in front of you at the bar and there are options for people who do not like sushi as well. I often switch between the poke bowl for the lighter faire (that ginger dressing, uuuugghhhhhh yes) and the hot and spicy ramen. The ramen is easily enough for two meals and that one pickled egg in it is like the cherry on top. The pork belly is tender and the broth has an incredible depth of flavor. Hell even their miso soup, which at most places is water, tofu and seaweed has so much flavor packed into it. You can tell there are no corners cut at this restaurant. Beers on tap, we only do Fresh Pick, a local and classic IPA. Mixed drinks are great here as well. Full bar for anything you'd want really. Outdoor seating available at the deck if weather permits, it's cool to watch the planes. If this place goes out of business I'll probably die. read more

Waitresses are most of the time are super friendly and understanding. This place is nestled in the Barnes Regional Airport terminal. What a cool, metropolitan-feel place! And to top that, my wife and I had great "Tokyo Style" Ramen. The flavors reminded me of the careful flavors selected in food that I once tasted in Yokohama, JP. Tonight was a night of redemption. A while back I came to this location and had an unfortunate experience. Although the wait staff was incredible the food didn't match. To be transparent and forthcoming, the last review of this location wasn't the best, in fact it was harsh in my opinion. We decided we'd never come back. Well, today we decided to give this brand new restaurant a try. What a change. The feeling in the restaurant as you walk in has changed for the better. There's an electricity in the air as you hear people chatter gushing over the incredible display of food. The presentation, the smell of freshly made food that was clearly made with love and intention. The perfectly made drinks. Absolute incredible wait staff /bartender and the owner making his rounds to greet all of his patrons. A new name with a whole new attitude. . The food was unlike anything I've had before. We've had our fair share of japanese cuisine around the area. Tobiko 100% hands down takes the cake. I was stunned by the beauty of my dish but also by the insane smell and even better the flavor. Within the first five min we decided that this would be our new go to favorite restaurant. Wow!! I cannot say enough great things about this place. Who would think you would find a sushi bar at an actual airport base??? This is one of the coolest experiences I have had. The service was amazing, everyone soo attentive to each tables needs and also very welcoming and then the setting and vibes are just soooo awesome!
