Firstly, error on our end - corrected. Error on their end - corrected, but Kaisen added an unnecessary, unexpected, but much appreciated bonus to the order and so, great food, because even more great food! I've been remiss in not reviewing this excellent Asian Bistro prior to our latest visit as the food has always been the best. I'm a pescatarian, otherwise vegan, eater these days but will include meat dishes from past visits. The three of us all ordered lunch specials #4 which is your choice of 3 rolls from a good variety of basic rolls or 2 rolls and vegetable gyoza. We were all quite impressed with the size of the rolls as they were generously filled with delicious spicy tuna, salmon and shrimp. Other tasty rolls were the vegetable, and tofu crunch. The vegetable gyoza also received "huzzahs" as they were, as always, delicious. Past visits: If you enjoy sashimi, my go to in the deluxe version at $25.00 - great quantity, quality, variety and very flavorful. If you enjoy beef then the bulgogi tacos are an excellent choice as are any of the ramen dishes. The Bimibap is also first rate. Pork, beef, chicken, fish, tofu, vegetables? Kaisen has you covered. The front end staff are always friendly and welcoming. We have dined in a number of times in years past and the staff was great, seating was comfortable. Restaurant is very clean. read more

We started with a simple California roll, which came with eight pieces of sushi. It was fresh, well assembled, and tasty. They use a lot of sugar in some of the dishes. Place was very hard to find but it is popular with the locals. Kaisen is our favorite sushi spot even though we live in Chicopee! I ordered some take out yesterday for Mother's Day and they were so busy they had multiple orders coming out of the kitchen for to go and dine in. Due to the wait time they even tossed in an extra California roll for us which was such a nice gesture although I never would have expected that because it was busy, a special day and people have to wait, that's the industry! The service was awesome- I don't remember the woman behind the counters name for sure but I think it might have been Kelly? I heard someone say it was her first day and good for her for taking on Mother's Day and executing it with grace, since we all know how some people can be - rude and entitled. She did a fantastic job. And of course, the sushi was fresh and delicious as always. I even tossed in a hot and spicy ramen for my order which I won't be placing another order without it. Delicious sushi! I had Japanese food a few times on my trip and enjoyed every meal. We came here on a Monday night and it was steady. Our server was friendly and welcoming. I was torn between ramen and sushi but to my pleasant surprise, the menu offered a ramen and sushi roll combo. Hooray! I chose the veggie ramen and the Philly roll, and it also came with miso soup which I'm always down for. We got a veggie gyoza appetizer and it was so good! Perfect size and the crunch was satisfying. The ramen was plentiful, I added some hot sauce and soy sauce which added some nice depth to it. Great lunch - we got two different ramens, a salmon stone pot (kind of like a bibimbap), tofu crisp sushi (yum) and bulgogi tacos (super yum). The tacos were a shared app but one of our party declared she is getting her own tacos as an entree next time to avoid sharing! The place is in downtown Feeding Hills & pretty close to MA Highway 57/147 & you can get to this place from Agawam, Westfield, Southwick or Springfield vicinity & for what I experienced overall (yes it's BYOB) very good, priced & way different than most places of this type of cuisine you'll get. We've been recommended this place from a few people, so it was a nice, cold Saturday night... what better time to try a hot bowl of Ramen? We started with the beef gyoza while we perused the extensive menu. The gyoza were excellent and nicely plated. We then decided to try the ramen-- shoyu for me, chicken katsu for hubs. We are, by no means, Ramen experts.... but we felt like their Ramen was basic. I had an inkling just looking at the menu (the ingredients listed for each Ramen choice were essentially the same, just a broth and protein change). Other places I've reviewed have had much different choices, varied ingredients and broth with much more depth of flavor. If we had stopped there, we would have been disappointed-- but our server saved the day, encouraging the sushi, telling us how excellent it was. When I asked for her favorite, she went with the lion king roll. This was amazing and saved our meal!! I am torn about this place. I really wanted to LOVE it, based on things I've heard from others. To start with deposits, the sushi that we had was super fresh and had great flavor however the spicy pork which I have gotten at many places in the past was just absolutely awful very small amount of pork. Do Lunch! Recently renovated, Kaisen is now my favorite lunch place. YES, sushi for lunch, especially with the options available, is the way lunch should be. I believe I had yellow fin sashimi, and a spicy tuna roll, with added crunch. LOVE it. I went with two men who looked more the " burger n fries" types, but who were also sold on the sushi for lunch specials. The bar areas is open where they make the rolls, so don't be shy- ask about what you like so that you can get something nummy without the guess work. This is also ideal for the lone luncher. There were several people eating alone here, and it was a very nice space to sit an do some work or read a book while you took a break. Final note: This is perfect for people who want to use forks instead of chopsticks unless your coworkers give you the mockery of shame. read more

Miso soup is alright. Green tea was a little disappointing to get a mug with a tea bag. I was sad to not get the teapot this time around. My wife loved the sweet potato roll but I thought the rice on it was too tough? Coconut shrimp was fantastic! As we were sitting, a group came in behind us and sat down. A father and son proceeded to come in after them to sit down. While we reviewed the menu, as did the other two groups that came after us, I noticed a waiter giving the group that came in right behind us some cups of water. I didn't think anything of it until she came back a few mins later and proceeded to ask that same group if they were ready to order. She went to the table with the father and son and asked them if they were ready. Then she came to us. We ordered our drinks and appetizers first. She immediately wanted to take our menus, I told her we'd hang on to one since we weren't done ordering. Our food comes out and we order our sushi choices. For me, the rice in the sweet potato roll was too tough. It was sticky rice but too sticky and a bit h if that makes sense at all. It just made it a little tough to chew on a piece. I gave it a second try but the rice was not it for me. Moving forward, we get our plate with sushi. Mind you, it's 2 rolls for two people...on one plate. We were never given any other dishes. I felt so messy dipping my pieces into their sauce and having it trickle on the table and my hand while it travels to my mouth. I asked for an extra sauce cup for my wife, it never came. I visited there this past Saturday night and ate at the sushi bar, first time there. Now I know they don't have a liquor license and to bring one's own - next time. I had the Shrimp Killer Roll, Boston Roll, & the Rock & Roll roll. They all tasted good but the Shrimp Killer Roll really stood out. I found out I am not a big fan of cucumber wrapped rolls or at least I don't remember the cucumber being so pronounced, would pass on the Rock & Roll roll on next visit. Do highly recommend and I am a sushi snob including even train station sushi in Kobe Japan coming home from at least once a week (years ago was over for a month), The sushi here is as good as what you can get in Japan! The food at Kaisen was very good; sushi was fresh, and the bowl of ramen was generous. We had their seaweed salad for our appetizer. Two orders of sushi came next, the caterpillar roll and Alaska roll. If I have to comment on something it would be the amount of sauce they put on top of the caterpillar roll. It took away from the taste of the ingredients they used to make the roll. After the sushi, we ordered the curry ramen and the hot and spicy ramen. The bowls were generous. We did not walk out of there hungry for sure. We did not know at the time but this restaurant does not have a liquor license. So if you want something to drink with your meal you can bring your own. Delicuous fresh food restaurant. Drive 30mins to here with friends several times just for food. I like their Lion King roll，and calamari salad. One of the best food in MA，and very competitive to some other good restaurants in Boston. Their homemade ginger tea and hibachi also very good better than sumo in Holyoke. Checked out this spot on a cool, rainy fall evening and definitely enjoyed our meal! A friend was visiting from out of town and we recently moved to a new town in CT so we decided to venture out to a new spot and found great reviews for Kaisen on Yelp and gave it a go. To start we ordered the beef gyoza and shrimp shumai. I felt like these were average and not as flavorful as we'd like. I prefer steamed gyoza over fried and the beef gyoza here were fried, I did not check if there was an option to have them steamed. For dinner we each ordered ramen and for the little guy we ordered a kids meal which included your choice of rice or noodles, choice of protein and veggies. I appreciate that they have a kids meal option because many ramen spots don't! I got the kimchi ramen which was quite good and very spicy. The pork belly in the ramen was cooked to perfection, really quite delicious! Service was quick and friendly. It's BYOB which we did not know before we came. We did not try the sushi but I see here it gets great reviews so perhaps that will be on the menu for our next meal there. Glad to have found this spot because the hubby and I both love ramen. We often go into West Harford for Nummy or Kaliubon, which are also very good, but it's nice to branch out to different areas every now and then. Will definitely be coming back! read more
