Mixed reviews for this spot. We were visiting and this genre sounded good. May have been low on staff but the wait was not ideal. Server also the cashier was nice and apologetic. Food portion were good. My lamb curry was average in flavor. The Nepalese soup was a first for us; very mild flavor but still satisfying. Ambience is cozy. We went here while we were in Vermont and this place is a little gem in downtown Montpelier. This was my first time trying Nepalese food and I was impressed. We got the chili chicken momos which were extremely delicious and filling. We also got the chicken biryani and chicken lollipops. The prices were decent and the ambience was decent. Definitely a casual spot for a sit down dinner after a day of traveling. The day we went, there were only two people working and they told us beforehand that it would take a while to get our food, hence the slow service the day we went was a one off and not the usual quality of service. We were passing through on a road trip, hungry and looking for some good ethnic cuisine. We saw this place and gave it a try. I had the chicken korma and my girlfriend had the lamb vindaloo. Both were delicious. The korma sauce was really subtle while the vindaloo was really hot! Both were served in reasonable portions (for once!) and the prices I thought were not unreasonable. As a bonus the proprietor brought small samples of chai tea to our table, on the house. If you like chai, you should try some here! great service. While we were eating, we saw several locals come in for take out and the owner even walked one patron to the front door and held it open for her. There is a EV charger on the blink network across the street with free parking starting at 5PM. read more

A friend and I ate dinner here while traveling through Vermont. The restaurant was really dark despite a lot of ceiling lights and very basic. But it was clean. The server was knowledgeable about the large menu offerings. The food was really good and the portions large enough to take home for a second meal. All of the sauces tasted homemade. read more

Everything was fantastic! We shared some Paneer Tikka Masala (well, OK my wife really didn't share much of it) the Pork Biryani (so tender) and Pork Chili Momo. While I like HOT, do not confuse that with spicy. The spices were spot on. The Momo is a perfect example of something that looks like it's going to be hot, but is just seasoned to perfection. The samosas and naan were also fantastic. Our daughter said this is going to get her through law school. And we will be back every time we visit her. read more

This brick-walled space has housed different dining iterations for over twenty years. While a small town like Montpelier might not need two Indian restaurants, there is a Nepalese and Asian component to their offerings, though I'm not entirely sure if this is authentic or an attempt to cater to various Central Vermont tastes at once. No matter, I decided to try Indian offerings. The standouts were the curry chicken and naan. Tender chicken, creamy curry, and spongy naan to soak it all up. The tandoori chicken was rich and flavorful. The vegetable biryani and butter chicken were okay. The biryani was lacking complexity; out of season tomatoes were a puzzling and unnecessary addition. Overall, portions were generous and the prices competitive. I ordered my food to go, and that seems to be the brisker side of business compared to dining on-site. Next time, I will snag a table by the window, and explore their array of appetizers, like dumplings, roti rolls, and fried cauliflower. A perfect spot to catch a small bite before, or after, ducking into the Savoy for a film. Fantastic and much needed addition to the Central Vermont dining scene. read more

Chicken korma was tasty. Not the best I've had but I would eat it again! I would ask for it spicier next time too. Rice was overcooked and clumped though, sadly. Pork dumplings had a light curry flavor that was pretty nice and a curry dipping sauce. The wrappers on the dumplings were on the thicker side, so made them a little dense. is is a quiet little treasure full of authentic Indian, Nepalese and Asian flavors. The Vegetarian Samosa was large, and came with 2 on the plate. It's definitely an appetizer large enough to share with one other person. It came with a green sauce and a sweet sauce (tamarind?). The Chicken Saag was full of chunks of chicken and lots of finely blended spinach sauce. Next time, I'll come more hungry and order the Thali, so I can sample more dishes. The food is very tasty, and not generally spicy, unless you ask for the heat. The portions are generous, so I was able to take leftovers home to enjoy another meal. read more

Butter chicken tastes different than indian cuisine. It tastes good and it is less creamier than the usual butter chicken. It started to taste less after eating 3/4 of the bowl- as if the thickness of the sauce was all up and all the water got to the 1/4 bottom. Service was a bit slow. This place is in fact good BUT if you enjoy a lot of flavor, PLEASE tell them you want it spicy!! If you do not, you will have food that looks visually appealing and might be "ok" but by no means as flavorful as it should be. I was delighted to find a Nepali restaurant in Montpelier, and especially delighted when the food turned out to be so good! We had the Tibetan style vegetable dumplings to start, which were tasty, delicious and filling- and definitely not like any dumplings that I've had before. We followed that with vegetable thukpa- Tibetan noodle soup. I highly recommend the thukpa for a cold winter day: you'll feel really warm really quickly after a bowl! We also had the vegetable biryani and garlic naan, which I also recommend. The naan was very fresh and fragrant. The owners were friendly and attentive. We'll definitely be coming back, and letting all our friends know. We have some Tibetan friends who we think will be very excited about this home-away-from-home. Nepali food is a really unique blend of Indian, Tibetan and the indigenous Newar cuisines, and worth exploring. A last comment: our meal was by far the best value for money we've had in the last year. I've had dumplings that were twice as expensive and half the quality. read more

This Indo-Chinese restaurant is fantastic! I've only been once for dinner but I will definitely visit again. I had the chicken tikka masala and my husband had the lamb saag, and we couldn't resist ordering the chicken chow mein and the chicken Kathi roll and the garlic naan (we wanted to have a lot of delicious leftovers!) Everything was fantastic and served quickly. The tikka had a mild sweetness to it that was unexpected and appealing. The chicken chow mein was my favorite--it had peas, corn, potatoes, cilantro, and a little tofu. It was such an amazing flavor combination! Service was friendly and good. Just tried this new restaurant in town. We did carry out, though eat-in and doordash delivery are also available. The saag paneer featured a classic prep with plenty of cheese. The well-seasoned lamb biryani included a generous amount of tender meat. Though on the pricey side, portions are substantial. Rice is included with saag paneer at no extra cost. Can't wait to try other dishes. What a welcome addition to Montpelier's dining scene! Yum! read more

We tried this for the first time - some things were delicious (cauliflower masala, naan), some were just ok - butter chicken, fried rice, biryani (ordered medium-was very spicy), dumplings. We were given chicken chow mein instead of veggie which was...not great for the vegetarian. Needed more raita on the side. Over $110 for 8 items, not cheap but a good addition to the Montp dining scene. read more

I stopped by tonight as this is the closest Indian resturant to rt 2. There was only 1 couple besides me there. I ordered veg. pakora, butter Nan & chicken korma, easy enough. The pakora were over cooked, the Nan was great and the korma chicken was tough and over cooked and I gusse it was good that there were only 6 pieces in the dish and the korma sauce was very ho hum not flavorful in the least. My recommendation is that you find another Indian restaurant to eat at. The service was fast and I was well taken care of. read more
