The beef fried was ok. Some of the rice was semi hard. It wasn't salty. And my wife said that she tasted a little coconut oil. Overall this was a decent place to eat! I would come back! This Americanized Chinese restaurant in a strip mall on Mountain Rd delivered a good tasting Lo Mein. I called for take out and the food was ready in 15 min. I asked for not too oily, not too salty and the food was really well prepared. The roast pork was tasty and tender and the noodles were not greasy at all. Standard Chinese food - more a 3.5 stars. We ordered take out: moo shu pork, chicken with broccoli, shrimp fried rice, beef lo main, fried pork dumplings, wonton soup, egg drop soup, and spring rolls. We wanted hot and sour soup but they did not have it (really? on a Friday evening). The prices were low and the quality was ok. The moo shu pork came with 4 pancakes and came with the hoisin sauce - it was a solid choice. Chicken with broccoli was ok - I felt the meat was a little on the subpar side so I ate the broccoli and pushed around the chicken. Shrimp fried rice and beef lo main were good but less beef than we would have liked. The dumplings were HUGE and doughy - not my favorite but they tasted good. The wonton soup was covered in cilantro and celery leaves and the 4 wontons were also HUGE but the broth was warm and tasted ok. Egg drop soup was ok. We ordered take out from them twice. The food was delicious and portions huge. Soup was flavorful and full of vegetables and meat. Noodles were very flavorful with meat and vegetables. Kung pao chicken was delicious with finely chopped celery and carrots and crunchy peanuts. The fried rice was so good that my kids ate it all and wanted it for breakfast. We were visiting Stowe on vacation and looking for something other than pizza or pub food that wouldn't burn a hole in our wallet. After some research, we decided to take a leap of faith and go to Sanfo Chinese Restaurant for takeout. It took us a while to find their website and online menu, but once we did, we were able to make our selections and call in our order with ease. All of our dishes were quite good, served hot with plenty of fresh vegetables, not greasy at all and not too salty either. For the vegetarians, the bean curd with vegetables hit the spot. The double sauteed roast pork was yummy as well. The house special lo mein, won ton soup and steamed dumplings also made the grade. Sanfo is located in a shopping center off of the main road, so there is plenty of parking and is clean and well-kept. There are only three tables, however, so they clearly do most of their business in takeout. Not to be overlooked, the prices are definitely right, especially when you consider that with takeout, you can avoid the 20 percent tip that seems to be the commonly accepted rate these days. This isn't gourmet food by any stretch, but given the very limited number of economical restaurants in the Stowe area, Sanfo Chinese Restaurant gets high marks for delivering the goods. I'm giving Sanfo four stars in this context: as an affordable restaurant serving good, fast, fresh Chinese takeout. read more

I was very disappointed with the food as it seemed to be frozen food you can get at a dollar general and make at home. I ordered sesame beef that was mostly breading and ha little to no flavo. The only thing that had taste was the sauce but it was a bit salty. I also ordered egg rolls which were small, seemed to be pre-made and only filling was cabbage? 1 was extremely salty while the other was ok as far as seasoning. When I got the bill it was more than it should have been so I asked for a receipt and was told that my credit card slip was my receipt. I asked how the price got to be so high she gave me prices but couldn't explain an extra 5 bucks. I said that probably would never return. All around bad experience! read more

Ignore the 1-2 star reviews. This is very solid Chinese takeout especially in northern VT. High quality, fresh, solid flavor. As part time residents, this is our go to Chinese takeout restaurant which is much needed. Also, very nice service over the phone and during pickup. We were looking for a place for cheap American Chinese food to mix of the rest of the American food that we had been eating the rest of the weekend, and SanFo was the perfect find (right next to AJ's Sport rental place as well, so we dropped off our skis and went straight over). Recommended: Sesame Chicken, General Tso's Chicken, Kung Pao Bean Curd, Beef Hunan Style (not spicy at all). All dishes were under ten dollars. We were up for some chinese food while on vacation in the mountains. To be fair, there are not a lot of options in the Stowe area but I was pleasantly surprised by Sanfo. We ordered take-out and had a mix of items such Broccoli in Garlic Sauce, General's Chicken (we apparently cannot order chinese without getting this wherever we go. I think it's from an old family law our forefathers instilled in us.), pork fried rice, steamed dumplings and crab rangoon. The food was fresh and overall, everyone enjoyed it. We are very much spoiled by our hometown offerings so this was a pleasant surprise. If you are looking for traditional American-Chinese food, I think Sanfo is worth giving a try. read more

I give this place a solid 4 stars. Got a takeout order for fried dumplings and general tso's chicken and got a good meal. They forgot to give me a fork and the dumpling sauce wasn't that great hence they lost a star, but everything else was good! The sit-down area is no frills but at least you could eat there if you don't want takeout. I'd definitely go back and order from them when I'm craving Chinese food again. We ate here during a summer family vacation in Stowe to get away from the more expensive restaurants in town. I would say the food here is standard Chinese takeout fare. Tasty and reasonable quality. The scallion pancakes were better than my favorite Chinese place at home. The chicken in the Chicken Mei Fun was nice all white meat, but the wife was less impressed with the Sesame Chicken (I thought it was tasty). Atmosphere? Let's just say that this is the kind of place where you have to pay to use actual dishes ($1 for 4 plates, $1 for 2 glasses--I'm not kidding). There are about 3 tables in the place, and it was as hot as Southeast Asia in summer (OK, kidding here, but not much) even though it was a perfect dry 70's day outside. It's all self-serve and clean-up. Bottom line--acceptable Chinese takeout at a reasonable (for Stowe) price, but keep expectations low on atmosphere, and plan on carrying out if possible. Nice little restaurant in the small little town of Stowe. The food was tasty, not oily and well sized portions. The tofu dish was done perfectly as was the beef chow mein. The interior of the restaurant has changed to a total takeout place - foes it have new owners? Sweet and sour chicken, golden tofu and beef with broccoli were all terrible. My wife, kids, and I love American Chinese Food. We order it a lot on the road/vacation to take a night off of cooking and going out. We have also eaten Chinese in the most rural of areas and big cities, and have found good and bad in both. This Place was just ok. The sweet and Sour Chicken was typical. The General Tso's was extremely dry and hard to chew, and didn't have a lot of sauce on it. The Crab Rangoons were the traingle kind, decent flavor, but no crunch to them. We also ordered Sesame Chicken which was like the General Tso, rubbery, and not a lot of sauce. All in all, not the worst meal we've ever had, but not near the closest best Chinese either. I have been dinning here for more than a year. This family owned restaurant offers very fresh ingredients. This summer they added eggplant and fresh green beans. I especially enjoy Szechuan and Hunan dishes. They will prepare the eggplant and green beans this style, which has become my new favorite combination. The family is very friendly. Initially, we thought it was a sit down restaurant, but boy were we surprised when we walked in. This place was like any other typical chinese restaurant that offered To-Go. It had a few places to sit, but was not really intended to be a sit down restaurant. The place was empty when we came in so we figured we might as well sit down and eat there. We were politely greeted and the woman there took our order. We ordered the sesame chicken and the crab ragoon. It didnt take too long for the dishes to come out and they were piping hot. The ragoon were heavily filled with cream cheese, which we did not find with other restaurants, so this was definitely a plus. The sesame chicken came out and it was crispy on the outside and nice and moist on the inside. The chicken also came with rice. Our food didn't take long to come out. People started trickling on and wanted to sit down and eat too. The hot and sour soup was decent. Not as great as other places I've been too. The soup was really dark and didn't have as much mushrooms in them. The crab ragoon was really good. Crunchy and lots of filling in them! Both sesame shrimp and chicken and garlic were good too! This Restaurant has been open for about a year. It replaced an incredibly bad Chinese restaurant in the same location, the Lucky King. The restaurant is not very busy because people don't know that it is under new ownership. The food is fresh and well prepared. I live in town and eat there often. The owner/chef always has fresh green veggies and will prepare dishes to order. The atmosphere is lacking for sure, but the food is great and relatively inexpensive for Stowe. Give it a try! read more
