Oh man... not good. Not the best Filipino food I had in the Twin Cities. I am actually extremely disappointed because I would have loved to continue to support a business with good food. The pan it was dry and under seasoned. There were hardly any meat or vegetables in the dish. The lumpia had very thick skin and had a funny flavor to it so I will not be back unfortunately.

I love Filipino food and wanted to try this tiny take out place in Champlin. They were dead during what normally is lunch rush. I have the No 2 combo which was 2 lumpia, 2 skewers and garlic fried rice. It took about 15 minutes because it was all made fresh. The decor was mostly art for sale and Knick knacks. The service was meh but nothing horrible. Ample parking but the place is tucked away and difficult to find. They also have a good truck.

Halo Halo heaven. If you don't know what it is, you need to find out. Head to Kusima! So many good desserts actually.

Filipino home style food on wheels - 5 stars! This review is for the mobile food trailer version of Kumain only, not the bricks n mortar restaurant. I caught up with Kumain at Elm Creek Brewing Company. It was the perfect addition to a brewery. Judging by the long lines, it seemed like a lot of people agreed with me. Despite cold weather and a constant drizzle, the food trailer was hopping with business. I think this is the first time I've tried Filipino food. I loved my food. It was sooo good! For the entrée, I ordered the "Pancit Combo" with pork. The pork skewers were wonderful and cooked perfectly. My "Lumpias" were great. I'd describe them as mini egg rolls with a Filipino twist on flavor. Finally, my vermicelli noodles (made with Mong Beans) were very good. For dessert, I got an order of 2 "Turons". I'd never tried them before. They're like mini egg rolls with banana, jack fruit, and brown sugar inside. They were good too. The Turons had a moderate amount of sweetness, bursting with banana flavor. Good stuff. Kumain has a small takeout restaurant about a block away in a small strip mall. I tried to find it but I couldn't figure it out. I talked to the folks in the trailer and they told me they're located inside the Hometown Artisan Market - it isn't marked very well outside. So if you need your fix of Filipino food, that's where you find them. And I recommend you DO find them and give the food a try. Thumbs up! -Maxx

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. I work with a diverse group of people, with many Ethnic backgrounds. And as much as I love (prefer) burgers and wraps, I have also come to enjoy rice and noodles. My doctor team had to work on Saturday and we get lunch "catered". Typical delivery options: JJs, Davani's, Chipolte, Vietnamese or Thai. But a new option was presented to the team: FILIPINO cuisine! My mind went "oh no, something new. (Insert grimace face). I know what to order at the regular places. Will I even like it?" On Thursday, I looked at the online menu and grabbed "A" (a Filipino coworker) and asked what things were. I'm not a fan of SPICY SPICY food (like Indian) and she assured me I was safe here. I asked about the noodles (glass and flour mixed with vegetables, similar to fried rice). She said they'll be dry but full of flavor. Lumpia are miniature egg rolls (thin, flaky wrapper). BBQ pork skewer (self explitory). I decided on Combo #1! Saturday: Holy smokes! This is my new favorite place. Let's start back with the noodles. Yes they are dry, but the catering box came with sauces (soy, sweet chili and HOT sauce). I added a little bit of soy just to add wetness to be able to swirl the fork, but the flavor is on point. The egg rolls..2 is not enough. Give me at least 6 and all the sweet chili sauce. Very addictive. The bbq pork skewer... If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was steak. I was delighted to taste smokiness from the grill. I could imaging eating this at a 4th of July picnic. Combo #1 was filling. Half of the office ordered the combo #1 and the other half did the Combo #2 (Chicken Adabo). How good it tasted was all anyone could talk about the rest of the day between seeing patients. I have no doubt we'll be ordering this again in the future. Again, I was shown that trying new things isn't always a bad thing.

My wife and I made a conscious effort to stop-in for a late lunch, taking the light rail from downtown Minneapolis. The food was quite good with friendly service. There is no signage for the restaurant outside, so have to trust Maps and go inside the grocery store. Towards the back against the back wall, is the restaurant, with a few tables/chairs for eating in. Everything is packaged for takeout, and there is no table service. It's very similar to how bigger filipino grocery stores in Cali have a section dedicated to hot meals, with prepared food to be scooped up. It is only open during the weekend during lunch hours, with the current menu posted on their Facebook page. They did have unexpected items (like fried smelt) on the menu, that I wanted to try, but was told it wasn't available. Thus, ended up getting a two choice plate combo for $10, with white rice, one pork BBQ stick and beef mechado. Both were very good, with the pork stick being mostly shoulder meat (little fat), and the mechado having very tender beef, with very little gristle. Both went great with the rice, and my wife and I happily shared. With this good experience, we decided to get 8 BBQ sticks ($30 total) to bring to a dinner hosted at a friend's house that same night. This amount exceeded what was already available, so the nice server let us know it would be 10-15 minutes. We figured it would even be better if freshly made, so had no problem waiting for it. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as good, with the pieces having a lot of gristle and not as much of the charred goodness that the original sticks had. Guess one has to eat it for dine-in to get the full effect.

They used to be a food truck outfit, but now have a kitchen and a couple of tables inside the Phil-Oriental Market. The market itself is pretty small, with a decent selection of Filipino grocery items, and the small deli is located in the back. Just follow the incredible smells wafting from the rear of the store. Belly up to the counter and about 8-9 entrees are kept warm behind the glass, cafeteria style. Everything looked pretty appetizing, but I was jonesing for the crispy pork belly. I got a pound of that goodness, and I asked the lady helping me what the meat was on the skewers next to the pork belly. She told me it was BBQ pork on a stick. They looked like charred meat candy, so I got 3 skewers. A small take out container of white jasmine rice also came with the order. I also asked if they had any lumpia's today since I didn't see them in the food trays. The lady said they make them to order, so I decided to wait an extra 10 minutes so they could fry some up. Exactly 9 minutes later, the lady came from the back with a to go container filled to the top with hot, small lumpia rolls. Evidently 21 lumpia's come in a single order! Bonus!! I had some to share with the wife and kid. I paid for my order, and snuck a piece of lumpia into my face hole while walking out the door. I burned my tongue, but the pain was worth it. They were pretty good, and super crispy! When I got into my truck, I tried a piece of the bbq pork on the skewer. Holy crap it was good. The meat was nicely charred but tender, and the marinade was outstanding! I immediately went back into the store and bought 5 more. Of course I bought too much food, but it was totally worth it. I'll be back next week, and Pinoy Fusion is now on my restaurant rotation list. Check out the pics-

She also makes her own Ice cream and says she's heard customers say they have the best Halo Halo. There is also an amazing leche flan that is housemade, also available in a to go box We had the Dinuguan which was a pork stew with pig's blood and spices. A true nod to authenticity. We also had the Barbecue Pork skewer which was flavorful and meaty. The best part was the hot sauce condiment on the table. Jailin makes that herself in house. It was very spicy and flavorful. They had a nice to go refrigerator and merchandise area. There is plenty of seating for this quick serve space. It shares the building with a Filipino grocery store as well. Parking lot is shared between both spaces. This has a very family curated vibe, just what Jailin is aiming for. She hopes this space allows families to feel at home here. We will be back!

The sad thing is that people on Yelp haven't really made a dent into these yet as I came here and noticed that probably only three or four of the 30 or 40 food places in this massive Market have even been put on Yelp yet. I've now put them all on Yelp and will be working my way through them each time I visit Saint Paul until I have put up pix of various dishes at each one. But if you live around here and you come here more regularly than I do, what's your excuse? Give all of these places a try! Put them on the map! Figure out which ones are the true hidden gems! Why go to Ye Olde Basic Brewery yet again for yet another pale ale and yet another microbrew craft beer and some more freaking Mozzarella Sticks.
