Omgoodness, this is the ONLY restaurant where the food tastes like my Filipino Papa's cooking! And that is high praise coming from me. The restaurant is tiny, but clean. The service is just cafeteria style, but the prices reflect this so no stars were removed for either size or service. If you want to try AUTHENTIC Filipino food on a budget, this place is for you! If you want to impress a bunch of your friends, call ahead for catering options to serve them from your home. The menu changes daily, but the few "must try" things are always available: 1. Pork Sizzling Sisig - even better than the options in Manila IMHO 2. Lumpia - Filipino Eggrolls 3. Lechon Kawali - need to use the Mang Tomas sauce

This was my second time visiting Manila Sizzling Wok! They never disappoint with their menu! The owners were very sweet and personable since I came at a slow time! I got the lunch special which includes two meats and rice! It was very delicious and filling! I got the Halo Halo with the ube ice cream! It was amazing! I enjoyed my time and will be visiting again!

Great restaurant! While I can't comment on the authenticity, I can say I was happy with my experience! Thankfully, the staff helped us pick the dishes because they were all new to us!! The Filipino dishes were flavorful and rich. We tried the sisig (crispy pork skillet with egg and onions), Lechon kawali (fried pork belly pieces with rice), and chicken adobo (marinated chicken over rice). I'll be back to try more dishes! Menu changes frequently and updates are posted on their social media. Popular place so do expect a little wait and for some dishes to run out later in the day!

First of all, I want to thank the owner of this restaurant. He was so nice and willing to help me understand how to order the food. This place was amazing, it felt so different and I enjoy the food. I am not sure what the name are because again this place do not have a set menu. However, dont worry the owner is willing to help you. I have four dish, sadly I forgot to take a picture of the grill bbq beef. The food was amazing, they each had their own taste. I don't know the name of the dish, however they had a sweet taste mix with a sour (it's not like sweet and sour, but a little more herb taste) the grill bbq beef was so good. The curry dish; you can really taste the coconut. The hot dish in the sizzling pan was so good, i got mild and spicy. I would come back with my friends again!

What is Filipino cuisine? I don't know, but I'm glad I tried it! The food was splendid, but the service was spectacular. We tried many different dishes BEFORE we ordered and paid. Honestly, it didn't matter because I enjoyed them all. I ended up ordering a little of each. Additionally, they surprised us with a small portion of egg rolls and stir fry midway through our meal. The stir fry was my wife's favorite! The owner visited our table and was explaining how he would have plated his dish (on a sizzling plate) pre-Covid19. I really enjoyed our experience and I know it will only improve when restaurant dining returns to normal. The inside was extremely neat and clean.

Hidden gem! I drive by this place many many times but never knew it existed. It's an express style order and the staffs are very friendly. I would definitely be back but my only suggestion would be to have a menu or label so I know what I'm ordering. I ended up trying one of each but not sure if there is a hidden menu I could order from next time. Only found out they sold Halo-Halo because I saw someone ordering it.

We had takeout, this covers everything except the beef and mushroom and the menudo (both still in the covered containers.

This was our first time eating Filipino food in St. Paul, down visiting from Bemidji. My Filipina wife (and me for what that's worth) gave it "ever thumbs up imaginable.". We weren't bashful in our ordering, especially considering it is just the two of us. As other reviews have stated, the owner and his mom are incredibly kind and friendly. While we didn't have questions on the menu, they were entertaining when we came to pick up the order. What did we order? Sit back and loosen your belts--you're going to get full just hearing about it. Lechon kawali; crispy skinned fried pork belly. Crunchy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside, just like it's supposed to be. Pancit; standard Filipino noodle dish with pork, shrimp and veggies--also delicious. Sisig; chopped and fried pork belly, tossed with chilis and scrambled egg, lemon to add a bit of acid, this is my favorite Filipino dish of all time. Beef and mushroom dish, this was new to both of us, but delicious in a creamy gravy. Menudo; not the Mexican style dish, it's a distinctly Filipino beef and veggie stew with a hint of liver paste--spot on. Spring rolls; again the Filipino version, extremely well done. Halo-halo; this iiced dessert is something I'm not crazy about, but my wife loves it and gave her full endorsement. This place is worth driving across town for. In fact, even if this was the only place we visited on this trip, it would have made the trip worth the 4 hour drive to get here. No exaggeration.

SISIG SISIG SISIG SISIG She came out sizzling on a hot plate with visible spice and it just hit. It hit me right in the motherland. The crispy, flavorful bites had me forget I was in the midwest and hurled me onto a Philippine beach with a red horse by my side. The cook behind the counter asked if I wanted some spice in it and I said yes please - load it up! And he was surprised bc we Filipinos don't typically do spice and just WOW. Who knew it would transform a dish so much? I can honestly say I haven't had sisig like it - The portions are thicc - The bbq is yum - The service is friendly Butttttt what really put this place at 5 stars was the sisig Go here if even just to get this and don't forget to add the spice!

I had seen photos and eXcellent reviews on Eat n Go (facebook food group) so decided to try. All I can say is Wow! The food is really tasty! We ordered two of the lunch specials which is pick 2 entrees and it comes with a side of white rice. There were 5 entrees and egg rolls hot and ready to serve when we arrived. We tried 4/5 entrees and ordered the fried pork belly on the side. Pork belly 5/5. Crispy, tender inside. The sauce was different than the usual Asian pepper dip. They provide a sweet sauce that goes well with the pork belly. It's like you get two flavors. Sweet n sAvory. Which works up your taste buds. Very delicious. All 4 enTrees 5/5 reminded me of what I would see on the menu at an Indian restaurant. I don't know the recipes, but 3/4 had a curry type texture and the meat and vegetables useD tasted so fresh and moist. The entrees paired well with the white rice. The dessert haLo halo! I've had something similar at one of the Karen restaurants, but this one tasted better. After you mix all the flavors together, you are eating a sweet dessert that you just cant put the spoon down! Customer service 5/5. The owners were actually working and making the food. They are the chefs which I think is super cool. They know the food, the culture, the stories behind each dish and are genuinely kind. I'd go again .

Finally, an authentic & affordable Filipino place in the Twin Cities! Manila Sizzling Wok and Grill is a must-try for anyone wanting to experience Filipino food, or for Filipinos looking for a place to get good authentic treats like halo halo or baked goods. We went for dinner so some of the items for the day were sold out since it is cafeteria style. However, we ordered the Lechon from the front and it was crispy and the right amount of fatty. We also ordered our sisig, pancit, & halo halo made to order and it was all delicious! The pancit was loaded with goodies like fish balls, shrimp, sausage, and a delicious gravy. My family usually doesn't order sisig in the Philippines because intestines are too different for our American stomachs, but the pork belly sisig here was delicious & packed with flavor. Lastly, the halo halo was the best I've tried outside of the Philippines. They do not skimp in the Ube ice cream which is always a plus for me . The menu is a little confusing for those unfamiliar with Filipino food, but they post available dishes on their facebook each day so you can look into what you want to try before you visit. The staff is also very friendly and are happy to cater to your tastes. This place is family run and relatively new, so I'm excited to see what more is to come. Definitely will be back to try their lumpia and barbecue!

Combo plate: rice, lechon kawali (pork belly), and chicken asado (both sweet and salty stew)

After taking my first bite, I felt like I was transported back to my childhood with all the delicious flavors. I stopped by Manila Sizzling Wok and Grill on a Sunday afternoon at 3pm after hearing so much about the place! At first it was difficult to find a time to go since they were only open during the weekend but they've recently expanded their days/ hours to the week too. I grew up buying food at our local Filipino store with the same cafeteria style format so I knew how the combo plate worked but if you're new to Filipino food all the dishes could be a bit intimidating since they aren't labeled. When I came later in the afternoon, the dishes I saw on their Facebook menu were out so I tried the remaining Lechon Kawali, Chicken asado, and sizzling sisig. All the dishes were so flavorful and authentic, I was very impressed! I can't wait to come back and try different dishes. I'll just make sure to come earlier so that i get the items I want.

A new Filippino Restaurant in The Twin Cities, ooooh yeeeah, we are so excited it to try so we went there. I had a sizzling and I will say it was really good, crunchy, tasty, the only concern is the portion maybe you can just add a little bit more so we will be more happy to go back. My wife is Filippino so she said flavors are authentic, we will continue coming to try more deferent dishes. The restaurant looks simple but good and also clean that's very important. Service it's great, the owner is the chef so you can tell he loves what he is doing.

My friends and I have been walking past this restaurant for months and we were really looking forward to opening day. I grew up eating Filipino food so I came in to this restaurant with higher than average expectations. The food was delicious, pricing was great, staff was friendly, and the amount we were served was enough to make you full but not grossly so (a good feeling). If you follow any food pages, you're probably starting to see more and more Filipino food becoming popular nationally. It's unique to other Asian cuisines. My friends (who are not Filipino) and I enjoyed our experience and will certainly be back in the future. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to try something "new". It's casual dining and a great way to try or keep enjoying Filipino food.

I would give this place 6 stars if I could. I work with a diverse group of people, with many Ethnic backgrounds. And as much as I love (prefer) burgers and wraps, I have also come to enjoy rice and noodles. My doctor team had to work on Saturday and we get lunch "catered". Typical delivery options: JJs, Davani's, Chipolte, Vietnamese or Thai. But a new option was presented to the team: FILIPINO cuisine! My mind went "oh no, something new. (Insert grimace face). I know what to order at the regular places. Will I even like it?" On Thursday, I looked at the online menu and grabbed "A" (a Filipino coworker) and asked what things were. I'm not a fan of SPICY SPICY food (like Indian) and she assured me I was safe here. I asked about the noodles (glass and flour mixed with vegetables, similar to fried rice). She said they'll be dry but full of flavor. Lumpia are miniature egg rolls (thin, flaky wrapper). BBQ pork skewer (self explitory). I decided on Combo #1! Saturday: Holy smokes! This is my new favorite place. Let's start back with the noodles. Yes they are dry, but the catering box came with sauces (soy, sweet chili and HOT sauce). I added a little bit of soy just to add wetness to be able to swirl the fork, but the flavor is on point. The egg rolls..2 is not enough. Give me at least 6 and all the sweet chili sauce. Very addictive. The bbq pork skewer... If I didn't know any better, I would have thought it was steak. I was delighted to taste smokiness from the grill. I could imaging eating this at a 4th of July picnic. Combo #1 was filling. Half of the office ordered the combo #1 and the other half did the Combo #2 (Chicken Adabo). How good it tasted was all anyone could talk about the rest of the day between seeing patients. I have no doubt we'll be ordering this again in the future. Again, I was shown that trying new things isn't always a bad thing.

My wife and I made a conscious effort to stop-in for a late lunch, taking the light rail from downtown Minneapolis. The food was quite good with friendly service. There is no signage for the restaurant outside, so have to trust Maps and go inside the grocery store. Towards the back against the back wall, is the restaurant, with a few tables/chairs for eating in. Everything is packaged for takeout, and there is no table service. It's very similar to how bigger filipino grocery stores in Cali have a section dedicated to hot meals, with prepared food to be scooped up. It is only open during the weekend during lunch hours, with the current menu posted on their Facebook page. They did have unexpected items (like fried smelt) on the menu, that I wanted to try, but was told it wasn't available. Thus, ended up getting a two choice plate combo for $10, with white rice, one pork BBQ stick and beef mechado. Both were very good, with the pork stick being mostly shoulder meat (little fat), and the mechado having very tender beef, with very little gristle. Both went great with the rice, and my wife and I happily shared. With this good experience, we decided to get 8 BBQ sticks ($30 total) to bring to a dinner hosted at a friend's house that same night. This amount exceeded what was already available, so the nice server let us know it would be 10-15 minutes. We figured it would even be better if freshly made, so had no problem waiting for it. Unfortunately, it wasn't nearly as good, with the pieces having a lot of gristle and not as much of the charred goodness that the original sticks had. Guess one has to eat it for dine-in to get the full effect.

They used to be a food truck outfit, but now have a kitchen and a couple of tables inside the Phil-Oriental Market. The market itself is pretty small, with a decent selection of Filipino grocery items, and the small deli is located in the back. Just follow the incredible smells wafting from the rear of the store. Belly up to the counter and about 8-9 entrees are kept warm behind the glass, cafeteria style. Everything looked pretty appetizing, but I was jonesing for the crispy pork belly. I got a pound of that goodness, and I asked the lady helping me what the meat was on the skewers next to the pork belly. She told me it was BBQ pork on a stick. They looked like charred meat candy, so I got 3 skewers. A small take out container of white jasmine rice also came with the order. I also asked if they had any lumpia's today since I didn't see them in the food trays. The lady said they make them to order, so I decided to wait an extra 10 minutes so they could fry some up. Exactly 9 minutes later, the lady came from the back with a to go container filled to the top with hot, small lumpia rolls. Evidently 21 lumpia's come in a single order! Bonus!! I had some to share with the wife and kid. I paid for my order, and snuck a piece of lumpia into my face hole while walking out the door. I burned my tongue, but the pain was worth it. They were pretty good, and super crispy! When I got into my truck, I tried a piece of the bbq pork on the skewer. Holy crap it was good. The meat was nicely charred but tender, and the marinade was outstanding! I immediately went back into the store and bought 5 more. Of course I bought too much food, but it was totally worth it. I'll be back next week, and Pinoy Fusion is now on my restaurant rotation list. Check out the pics-

Cost wise, it was actually quite affordable for a food truck and there's even an option for a big ol' bucket of lumpia for $36. The downside was that I didn't like them at all. They're sour, are they supposed to be sour? I've had other lumpia's before and they didn't taste like this. It tasted like the meat had gone off and soured and was used to make the lumpia but I honestly can't tell if that sour taste was intentional or not. The pork skewers could have been great, they just needed a hit of salt to bring out the flavor. The lechon, not a lot of flavor and the garlic fried rice also needed a bit more umph. The flan was okay and the pineapple drink was nice and pineappley but not for me.

We tried two different types of noodles...red kapoon and regular pho, plus some purple sticky rice. The red kapoon is a spicy with a hint of pickled flavor, it's complex and tasty. The pho is very rich and also extremely well flavored, with a hint of toasted garlic. Both really hit the spot on a cold morning, and we would get both again. The purple sticky rice was perfect for our toddler to much on, she loved it. Prices are extremely reasonable and service is quick. The food court was not very busy at 9 am but most of the restaurants were open. We will definitely be back!

And at one end of this massive Warehouse of goodies and delights is this enormous endless row of magical food places which are serving everything from Pho to fake Chinese food to fake Japanese food to Korean food and even some real Chinese and Japanese to go with the Thai and the Filipino and a little bit of everything such as Laotian and Cambodian - but definitely heavy on the Vietnamese stuff as is the expectancy. The sad thing is that people on Yelp haven't really made a dent into these yet as I came here and noticed that probably only three or four of the 30 or 40 food places in this massive Market have even been put on Yelp yet. I've now put them all on Yelp and will be working my way through them each time I visit Saint Paul until I have put up pix of various dishes at each one. But if you live around here and you come here more regularly than I do, what's your excuse? Give all of these places a try! Put them on the map! Figure out which ones are the true hidden gems! Why go to Ye Olde Basic Brewery yet again for yet another pale ale and yet another microbrew craft beer and some more freaking Mozzarella Sticks. You can come here and do what Yelp is really all about which is trying new things and putting little places like this on the map.

She very sweetly was going around to each table making sure everyone was taken care of and satisfied. We learned her story from being an international chef to now opening her own cafe after being inspired by her mom's hand written recipes. She says the food is all housemade based on those recipes and stays true to authentic Filipino style. She uses minimal table salt and allows flavors to speak naturally thru the spicing. She also makes her own Ice cream and says she's heard customers say they have the best Halo Halo. There is also an amazing leche flan that is housemade, also available in a to go box We had the Dinuguan which was a pork stew with pig's blood and spices. A true nod to authenticity. We also had the Barbecue Pork skewer which was flavorful and meaty. The best part was the hot sauce condiment on the table. Jailin makes that herself in house. It was very spicy and flavorful. They had a nice to go refrigerator and merchandise area. There is plenty of seating for this quick serve space. It shares the building with a Filipino grocery store as well. Parking lot is shared between both spaces. This has a very family curated vibe, just what Jailin is aiming for. She hopes this space allows families to feel at home here. We will be back!

I don't know whether it was called Asian Pacific Market at the time. I remember bringing my mom to check the place out when she was visiting. It was run by a couple. I ended up getting a case of ramen noodles because I have always loved eating them growing up. While checking out my old neighbourhood, I swung by to check this market out again. The Chinese restaurant that I never frequented is still in this plaza, across from this store. I believe that this market took over another store and tore down a wall. It's definitely larger than I remember it to be. I parked and walked inside. I loved seeing all ingredients to create your own banh mi. The snacks looked good, from shrimp flavour chips, to roasted seaweed. I was happy. The man cashing folks out asked me if I needed any help. I was browsing and reminiscing. I was good. I ended up getting a box of Choco Pie. Each pie is individually wrapped. Chocolate and banana work nicely together. I ended up bringing half of them back to Canada because my eyes were bigger than my stomach. I found Korean ramen and decided to give it a try. I got the mild flavour, which had a bit of a kick. I loved how chewy the noodles were. Full marks for them. You can only pay with a credit card if your total is at least $10. Thankfully, mine was. My credit card transaction worked nicely. The man was personable and helpful. We wished each other a great night as I happily headed to my car with my purchases. I like that there are more places in the city to get Asian ingredients and food. I'm happy that this market is still here. It was nice being back. (451)
