Always a favorite when we are on LBI. We went there tonight for my cousin's birthday. Awesome meal, as always. There were 7 of us and we were seated in about 5 minutes. The seafood quesadilla is out of this world!! I had the Caesar salad with grilled shrimp and steak. It is a little expensive with the 2 add-ons, but well worth it especially if you are really hungry. Also, the grilled tuna is amazing. They cook it to order and it always comes out perfect. A great place to go for a meal and some cocktails!! read more

Love going to Kubel's as the staff is always friendly especially the bartender, Joe. Food is good. Just really a nice place to go.

The food was fine but they screwed up on our call ahead seating and said they had to give it away because were late arriving. We showed up here 5-10 minutes before they told us to arrive. They put us back at the beginning of the queue, after they promised to seat us quickly and we had to wait 30 minutes for a table. So much for call ahead seating. If it hadn't been raining, we would have taken our business elsewhere. read more

An old bar-restaurant kept up. Reminds me of the old LBI. We were very happy with the food, and there is a far off view of Barnegat bay, but most places on LBI don't have a view of any water. Just recently went there on a cool night, they have a roaring fire going. This is our second trip back in less than a month. read more

Kubel's has a family-friendly atmosphere with amazing service, kind and friendly staff, and flavorful food. The food had a very fresh taste and a large selection of classic surf and turf. My family and I sat close to the bar and we still could easily speak across the table. Kubel's is definitely a family favorite that will definitely be a repeat! read more

First time we came my wife had a piece of plastic in her sandwich which was handled and taken care of. However, two years later we came here and the wings had blood dripping out of one of them. Makes no sense to have a dinner special on the menu that is gone at 5:00. Tuna ordered rare was well done. Mashed or smashed potatoes had under cooked chunks that were almost raw. Kids pasta bowl was huge (too big for a child) but no flavor. And very expensive for a child at $10.50. Marinara sauce watery. Short rib special under seasoned. Almost no flavor. Side salad so small they should be embarrassed to serve it. They should rethink a kid's menu given LBI is a family place. Prices a bit steep. Caesar salad with 4 little shrimps was $25.00. Young servers were friendly and attentive. The issue here is the kitchen and the prices. Would think about trying again sans kids, but would stick to burgers as the expensive items were not worth the money. read more

Love this spot! Sits near The lighthouse on LBI and is a family owned bar/restaurant. Staff is friendly and quick and there is also an outside deck with a nice view. The menu is a great selection of seafood, steak, burgers and sandwiches with some creative appetizers and great tasting cocktails both frozen and on the rocks. Food is what you would expect, good portions and tastes good and perfect end to day at beach. Prices are decent but get here early or you'll be waiting in line for a seat, place gets jammed! read more

The recent renovation is beautiful, really brightens the bar area and adds more seating. We have been going to this restaurant forever and were shocked at how disappointing our recent trip there was. We went on Fri, 5/31, for happy hour which has always been great. This time however, it was not. The server was excellent and the drinks were good, but the food was definitely not at the level we are used to. All the portions were smaller and everything we ordered was overcooked. The wings were unbelievably dry and 2 of them were just bones, no meat or skin at all. We did not send anything back because it took forever to get the food and you could tell things were chaotic. The menu has changed a little and the fried tomato, which was an all time favorite of ours, has been removed. Hopefully this experience is not going to be the new norm for Kubels. read more

I am shocked a friend recommended Kubel's to me. We had takeout from here last night and I was surprised to see it had a lot of people there. Simply amazing. We went here on a friend's recommendation. Boy did they hit the nail on the head. Service was prompt and accurate, especially given my at times particular and specific requests. The wait staff attends to your needs without being overly pushy or intrusive into your dining experience. As far as the portions, we had items off of the lunch menu. The amount of food you get will absolutely fill you...we had to take some of our lunch home! And the prices, for what you get to eat, are more than reasonable. The remodel is beautiful. My family has frequented Kubel's about 5-6 times per summer for the last 7 years or so and has always enjoyed it. I am sad to say the latest round of menu/chef changes has not been positive. We've lost our favorite sizzling steak from the menu, choices are more limited, and the quality of standard menus choices has waned. I received a plate of buerre blanc sauce with some lukewarm crab cakes on the side this evening. The fried fish and chips is gone. If they are looking to "up-scale" the place, maybe lose the mozzarella sticks and bad wings for some well thought-out and executed seaside appetizers. Seared tuna maybe? There aren't many places open on the island in November, but we could have found a better place than this. We (my uncle, mother, brother, grandmother, and myself) went to Kubel's last night for her birthday. We got a table, and sat down. It took a waitress 15 minutes to even come and get out drink order! That's pathetic. The bar wasn't even very packed, and neither was the restaurant itself. After waiting for beverages, we began to order. There are maybe 15 items on the menu. It's mostly alcohol and other fancy drinks. I ordered a simple French Onion Soup & Waffle Fries. How can you mess that up? My brother got a burger and FOS, my mother got the soup and Chicken Piccata, my uncle a Crab Cake, and my grandmother got a burger with a side of mashed potatoes. When our food came, it was already 45 minutes after we placed the order. Starving we all are, we began to eat. I wasn't very fond of the French Onion Soup- the cheeses on top were a strange blend, and you could clearly taste the sherry, which isn't my thing. My grandmothers' potatoes were completely cold, and my mother Chicken Piccata was just strange; many weird things were added, so I didn't even try it! Overall, the meal was slightly decent. Went looking for really good NE clam chowder and a cold frosty beer. We ordered a few appetizers along with the chowder. The draught beer was filled to the tippy top with no head and definetly not frosty cold. I asked the waitress to take it back and have it poured properly so as not to be flat. Well, the second one came filled again to the brim with a miniscule head. If you blinked, you missed it. Not worth sending it back again. Didn't expect the bartender cared enough. The clam chowder was a disappointment; thickened with maybe cornstarch, excess amount of potato and no clam aroma. Don't waste your money. We ordered 2 bowls and 1 cup. The bowls might have had maybe an extra tablespoon when compared to the cup size. This restaurant has rested on its past reputation, but needs to step up its game. I had the crunchy flounder and Nancy had the crab cakes. Both were out of this world. I liked the crab cakes extremely friendly and warm staff. Our waitress was Jessica who was training a new guy. After a half-hour wait that we passed by drinking overpriced, under-sized beers, my boyfriend and I were subjected to mediocre service and piss-poor food. To be fair, the kid serving us was being followed around by his trainer, so I can't really hold it against him (them?). I got New England clam chowder and my boyfriend got a salad. The salad was fine, honey mustard dressing was yummy. The chowder, however, was pitiful. I'm from New England and have had my fair share of clam chowder. There were maybe four pieces of clam and one piece of potato in the cup. And who puts bacon in clam chowder? I don't eat meat, so the bacon was a disappointing surprise. Our entrees came about 15-20 minutes after we'd finished the soup and salad. I had ordered the supposedly amazing crab cakes, with sweet potato fries and cole slaw, and my boyfriend went with battered and fried haddock. The crab cakes were basically the most plain, no-frills cakes I've ever had. If they weren't $28, I might have eaten them just because I was hungry and they were more or less edible. I opted to send them back. The cole slaw was doused in vinegar. Awful. I tasted the haddock and immediately recognized the texture and flavor of McDonald's fish fillet. It was absolutely awful. He decided to spare the poor new guy and suffer through his meal. The sweet potato fries were awesome, but I won't be going back unless all the beer and sweet potatoes in New Jersey are swallowed up by pollution and guidos. read more

Huge fan of Kubel's! My absolute favorite is their chili - especially in the fall and winter. It is hearty, and spicy - I love that the onions crunch, giving it that extra bit of bite and zest. I love to head down to Barnegat, off season, for a walk on to the light, and a bowl of hot chili from Kubel's. If you like chili, try it. Your love of chili will be reignited, if not completely redefined. read more
