Although the walk up the steps to get there was a chore it was well worth it. Visited on Saturday June 20 for a late afternoon dinner. Everything was wonderful. Entrees included the salmon, steak and chicken. Plates were completely cleaned. Desserts were chefs kiss good. The view was spectacular although we ate inside due to the extreme heat. Prague ham was so good! the sauces complemented the ham. I am generally pretty sensitive to salt and did not find this ham salty at all! huge plus for me. I decided to get adventurous and order a salad with rabbit while my bf ordered the steak. The salad wasnt entirely my cup of tea but I am glad to have tried it. Rabbit was very tender but didnt have a lot of flavor. My bf really liked the steak, tender, flavorful and cooked medium rare. Recommended to us by our local tour guide (for which he gets no compensation). He said Czech food at Czech prices. Not over priced even though it's in a tourist area. But more than that they serve just darn good food. FOOD: Speaking of which so good! Honestly the appetizers were the best! That deer still dances on my tongue and the ham was divine. Beef cheeks were okay but the brioche melted in your mouth. Wanted to try something different so had the roasted boar and loved it. The sauce alone was worth it but just well worth it. This was hands down the best meal I had on our two week trip around Europe. It was so simple, but one that I will never forget. Yes, it was quite a walk to get to and although I knew where it was located, I had to be sneaky and convince my boyfriend that it was just a little further. "Yeah, there shouldn't be too many steps left..." We had to wait but didn't mind because the view is gorgeous. Yes, you should make a reservation, but when on vacation, it's sometimes hard to plan exactly what you want to do and where you want to eat because you're constantly on the move. And yeah, it would have been cool to sit outside, but honestly the interior is pretty cool looking and you can see the open kitchen as soon as you walk in. We only ordered a couple of beers along with the beef tartare and the duck and then we shared the most delicious lunch I've had in such a long time. Yes, I like beef tartare but how delicious can raw beef be? Well, really freaking awesome. Easily the best version of this dish I've had anywhere. The bread that came along with it was dripping with butter and the meat was perfectly seasoned. The duck was equally amazing. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. The beef with red wine gravy was to die for. We went for lunch as part of a tour of the palace and it was so good we cancelled another reservation so we could come back for dinner in a few days. This was the kitchen for the palace so it is not overly decorated but what it lacks in decor it definitely makes up in delicious food. We also had the plum dumpling for dessert and I can't tell you it was amazing. This undoubtedly was the best meal we had. The service was quick, friendly and professional. Inside ambiance could be a little more interesting (we sat in a middle room with no view of outside or kitchen). The location just outside the castle was magical. But the food stole the show! The roasted leeks appetizer is about the most amazing thing I've ever eaten! I seriously want that recipe, it was arriving! Chanterelles appetizer was also delicious, as was the roasted cauliflower and the boneless chicken. I wish we were staying on Prague longer so I could return! One of our favorite meals in our trip through Europe! We came with a large group and were happy they were able to accommodate us. There's a lovely garden area to sit at, but we sat inside where you can see the food prep area. We started with beers and wine, as well as the chicken liver pate which was SO flavorful. For food, I ordered the roasted duck with bread dumplings, my husband ordered the schnitzel, and others ordered the pork chop. They gave us a heads up that food would take around 30 minutes to prepare, which we didn't mind since we had great company. When the food came out, we were all impressed with the presentation and portions. The duck was phenomenal and the bread dumplings were so good with the gravy and cabbage. Everyone cleared their plates because it was all so good. We had room for dessert and coffee which we all enjoyed. Situated perfectly steps away from the castle, overlooking all of Prague, is this combination of modern and traditional that gives Czech food, especially desserts, an entirely new meaning. The room we sat in was darker than the first dining room, which I personally didn't like. I think it'd be better if the lighting was uniform throughout the restaurant, or at least not as drastic of a difference. We had an enthusiastic and helpful server, with a very unique approach to his job. He not only ensured that the dishes being ordered were gluten free or could be made gluten free, but rather than standing over us, knelt down to speak to us at eye level. The menu itself was overwhelming, with the majority of the dishes consisting of meat and dumplings. There were a few options for vegetarians, but Czech cuisine itself isn't the most vegetarian-friendly. I didn't want anything heavy, so I ended up going with the dill sauce and potatoes. It was good, although I personally prefer my mom's version. The ribs that had been recommended to us came with a side salad of unnecessarily large pieces of parsley and raw apple that didn't appear to complement the meat properly. The ribs themselves could have been cooked a little better, as they were hard to cut and didn't really fall off the bone like they should. Dessert did not disappoint, though. The dumpling was the perfect ratio of plum butter to dough, while the hot plums with tvaroh offered a satisfying bite of warm and cold that melted on my tongue. I'd recommend this place to anyone who is unfamiliar with good Czech cuisine, although as someone who has grown up with it, I wasn't the most satisfied. One of our best dinners in Prague. The food is so unique and incredible and the overall experience was fantastic. We didn't sit on the terrace because it was late and cold but inside was so nice and cozy! We got everything a la carte but the all you can eat option seemed to be a good option if you are really hungry. We got the appetizer to share and it was amazing! It was beets and cottage cheese and the flavors were spot on. For the entree, my husband got the chicken with a side of potato pancakes. It was very good and the sauce added a nice flavor. I got the vegetarian dish- egg and potato in dill sauce. It was absolutely amazing and it was better than the chicken. I would highly recommend it. For desert, we got the pumpkin dessert with actually pieces of pumpkin, pumpkin purée, breading and pumpkin seeds. It was incredible and I haven't eaten anything like it before. Very attentive staff, unfortunately we waited almost an hour for main course, and our snitzel was very thick and uncooked. Kuchyň in Prague has the integrity and ability to be one of the if not the finest restaurant available in the city. The view is impeccable. You will not find another restaurant with this quality of food plus view in the city. At the start of my meal, I was seated at a long table outside on the terrace. I made a reservation because there is limited seating available indoors and outdoors. You could possibly sit with other people if you have 6 or less in your party. If you decide to do the three course meal, there is an appetizer and soup that has already been pre-selected by the chef. Last night it was a chicken liver butter, minced meat served with toasted bread and radishes with a green sauce. Then, a lentil soup served with sausage. For the entree, There is NO menu at this restaurant, they present you with the food that is available to you. Which is a much more admirable presentation of the options they offer. They are vegetarian friendly, but usually only with one option available for the main dish. Most of their side items are vegetarian. This does not apply to me because I will eat anything. I chose pork with a cream based sauce, with cranberry, served with soft potato dumplings, and that was served in a 1/2 portion because I wanted to try multiple items. The next I chose was beef with a red wine sauce and potato pancakes. The dishes while delicious, I felt were missing something from the palette. The service was good, but working in a restaurant myself, I can understand when a restaurant is busy, that the service might not be as attentive. This is how I would describe my experience, although, very very good. I finished my evening with a rhubarb cheesecake (rhubarb-flavored items are extremely popular throughout Europe right now) and strawberries topped with whipped cream. I ordered the four course digustation even though there isn't a menu. The idea is they take you to the kitchen and you select the main dish based on what looks best. It sounds like a gimmick but it works. They also let you split the dishes and come back for seconds in case you like a lot of dishes. You will so try not to fill up on the bread! There was no apparent host, we weren't greeted at our table until 15 minutes in (No water or anything) And even when our plates were empty for 10 minutes at our table no one came to take it away or ask us about our next course.
